Beth and Donovan have come a long way from Hurricane Sabrina and the San Francisco earthquake. Now they are approaching their wedding day and anxiously waiting to promise each other a lifetime of love. The journey down the aisle isn’t smooth, though, as they receive threats from the followers of the notorious criminal, Jackson Storm. They think they’ll be safe in Hawaii, but distance can’t stop these killers. Not even a tsunami can.
This monstrous wave is the most devastating disaster Beth has ever faced. It leaves her beaten, frightened. Is she a widow on her honeymoon? As she struggles to hold herself together and find Donovan, she’s kidnapped by Jackson's men.
Fearing her dead, Donovan searches the rubble and shelters with no luck. The thought of her being swept out to sea is almost too much for him to bear, but the reality is much worse. She’s being used as bait to get him to fall into a deadly trap.
If they live through this disaster, they may never be the same again.

Chrys Fey is a disabled, tattooed author of books featuring heroines of steel. Her Disaster Crimes series is a unique blend of romance, disasters, and crimes, influenced by her own experiences with natural disasters. The conclusion of her series inspired her to create TheFightingChance.org, a resource for domestic violence survivors. On her blog, WritewithFey.com, she supports, empowers, and teaches fellow writers.
Fey got the idea for her first book when she was twelve and discovered a rusted screw with a crooked tip buried in grass. That screw was a key to an unknown world with an extraordinary character born in heaven.
She is a fur baby mom of four rescued cats. For fun, she photographs antiques, makes playlists, and creates flip cup paintings of Avrianna’s nebula. She loves Halloween, autumn, and gargoyles.
They met during a deadly Hurricane, survived a San Franciscan earthquake and through it all, found love. Beth and Donovan are getting married and a honeymoon in Hawaii is just what these two need after all they have been through. Their marital bliss may be short-lived as the infamous Jackson Storm has issued a kill order that cannot be cancelled. Maybe being thousands of miles away will be their safe harbor as the beaches and the surf in Hawaii calls to them.
Storm has it out for both of them and he plans on getting his revenge, even from prison and in the underbelly of life money not only talks, but it screams like a banshee to those who will heed the call. Maybe using Beth as a non-police decoy wasn’t such a great call, but women are being victimized, brutalized and murdered and Beth is determined to end their nightmares that she, too, knows too well. In Hawaii, while doing what the tourists do, then discovering they have been tracked down and must run again, who could imagine that only the timing of the deadly surge could save them from a bullet, only to offer them a watery grave. What if they are separated? Will they both survive only to once again, play hide ‘n’ seek with monsters of the human variety?
Chrys Fey is back with another thriller pitting Donovan and Beth against more than just the deadly throes of Mother Nature. One tough, yet amazingly intuitive woman and her ever protective husband and lover will once again, stand up to the evil that threatens all they have. TSUNAMI CRIMES is fast-paced, and Ms. Fey’s ability to bring the internal fight for survival during a rogue tsunami to life is frighteningly realistic. I actually thought about what would go through my head, what I think just seeing disaster footage on television and I felt I was there, in the water, being thrown viciously about, powerless and at the mercy of fate.
Beth and Donovan are a darling team together. I must say, Donovan is the more level-headed of the two, and his fierce need to keep Beth safe will be tested sorely. A great tale of intrigue, evil and the power of nature, of course, Beth is a force to be reckoned with, herself! I received this copy from Chrys Fey in exchange for my honest review.

I have been following Beth and Donovan’s journey through one catastrophe after another in this fabulous thriller series. They first met in Hurricane Crimes, and had one hell of an adventure in Seismic Crimes and Lightning Crimes.
Now they face the rage of a Tsunami in Oahu, on their honeymoon, no less.
I have fallen for the characters. I watch as they grow and develop into more complex individuals. Beth is strong, independent, loving and giving. Better think twice about messing with her and her man. Donaovan and Thorn are best friends and both are in love with Beth. Their testosterone levels are so high, I think they need to pull them out and measure their ‘meat sword’. LOL Their friendly rivalry makes for some humorous situations. I love a good villain and Jackson Storm fits the bill nicely.
The suspense builds, there is lots of action, and the suspense builds some more. Beth and Donovan are both targets and ya never know where the danger may come from. It lurks around every corner. Where and when will it strike?
Chrys Fey’s descriptive writing makes the story come alive, as if it is a movie playing out in my head. She has the ability to create doubt, even though I know the ending. She keeps the suspense at a fever pitch that goes on and on, never letting up, leaving me feeling wrung dry of my emotions. I finally reach the end and breathe a sigh of relief.
What a wild ride!! This is not your average romance novel. This story has non-stop action and is extremely intense. Just when you think things are fine... they are not! The author’s writing style is extremely clear, concise, and sharp. The author is a very talented writer! The settings and events in this book were very clearly researched. The plot twists and turns and you never know what is coming next. I was afraid for these two characters for a while but the ending is very satisfying. I am usually not into series because of the investment involved, but I am hooked!
**Triggers warnings for those with post-traumatic stress from abuse or disasters**
While I haven't listened to any of the other books in this series, I decided to listen since it could be read as a stand-alone novel. I'm fond of the disaster and apocalypse type stories and can enjoy a good romance from time to time. HOWEVER blending the lines between genres can be hit or miss. I think this was more miss that hit unfortunately.
The narrator, Bill Nevitt, has a pleasant voice but when I started, and am reminded it's supposed to be a disaster type storyline, it's hard to reconcile that against how chipper and pleasant Bill's voice is. It's not convincing to me as a serious story narration. He reminds me of the voice over actor for the young children's show on Disney Jr called Puppy Dog Pals. I feel like the story could use a bit more grit. His adaptation of women's voices and cadences was hard for me to get past as well. That said, it wasn't bothersome enough to forgo the listen.
The story itself....Hmmmm. The plot was so over the top my ability to suspend disbelief was totally thwarted. I realize this falls in the Romance category but the smattering of love scenes seemed unnecessary and tedious within the context of disaster book. Too much flowery description at times in parts of the story that were inappropriate at that moment in time for my liking. Go grit, or go rom-com but smashing the two together with equal parts was just hard for me and came off cheesy at times.
The part of the story that was most compelling for me was the actual tsunami and the aftermath of the tsunami for both Donovan and Beth. I feel like the author did a good job in researching how a tsunami behaves, what a body might go through during such an event, and what a disaster area might look like after the fact.
The beginning was quick and you got to the wedding fast, but I think it was good to be that brief. The setup doesn't need to drag out too long. The events in Hawaii were supposed to be the substance of the story and it was.
The fact that Donovan and Beth have been through all these disasters and are going undercover etc just seems too far fetched for me though. I'm doubtful I'll return for any prequels or sequels.
Disaster stalks Donovan and Beth once again in this third book in the Disaster Crimes series. While each book is a stand alone, the characters are the same and some story threads continue throughout the different books. While on honeymoon the two lovers become separated when a tsunami strikes the Hawaiian island they are on. Not only do they have to fight to survive the raging water and try to locate one another, but they also have to evade the bad guys that are hunting them. The tsunami and its aftermath were well described and absorbing and I liked the relationships formed, but it did seem a little far fetched that on an island decimated by a tidal wave, the bad guys would be unscathed and still chasing the protagonists. The narrator did a good job of distinguishing the characters and showing the fear, loss and romance in this story. It is an enjoyable, action packed disaster romance that is a bit far fetched in parts but it has likeable characters and is still very entertaining.
First off, I love this series! Following Beth and Donovan's relationship in this series has been a joy...but, boy oh boy, do these two get into trouble! In this final book, Beth and Donovan get married and head off for their honeymoon in Hawaii...what can go wrong? As if bad guys hunting them down isn't enough, the pair are ripped apart by a Tsunami! Will they survive this latest test? Of course the bad guys survive the Tsunami, so it's a race against time to find each other before the bad guys get their job done. Did I mention that I love this series! Each book is packed with non-stop action, bad guys and this bad@$$ couple. This book does not disappoint and the narration is on point. Our favorite couple finally get an HEA and I am sad to see the end of the series...hopefully we will see them in a spin-off...I'm looking for Thorne's story (hint...lol). I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
Love this series. Following the same character, it is now their wedding day. Crime and diasters seems to be in the cards for this couple lucky or unlucky you have to decide. Read the book of the ongoing romantic story with new suspense elements.
Tsunami Crimes has a lot going on! There is a romance between the lead characters who are engaged at the beginning of the book, there are some rather persistent criminals, and there is Mother Nature throwing a tropical storm into the mix. The result is rather entertaining and fun, even if it isn't entirely believable. The narrator does a good job with the material though I found his narration took a little getting use to.
In previous episodes, this couple had met and fought against criminals and the elements. In this episode, their fight goes on. Honeymoon in pristine Hawaii, turns to nightmare, with both tsunami and criminals coming together to cause their own personal h3ll. Neither could give up on the other, and with willpower, creativity and love, they do have HEA. I have loved the audio rendering of this book. The narrator's ability to transmit the characters' emotional states enhances the reading experience.
Tsunami Crimes by Chrys Fey is a book that grabs the reader right from the start and doesn't let go until the dramatic end. Apparently part of a series, this is the first book that I have read (listened to) by this author and I don't feel like I was lost; the author does a good job of filling in any pertinent past details that the reader may need to know. Lots of action, beautiful descriptions of scenes, strong characters and an exciting plot make for a good book and this has lots of them all. With the descriptions of the beauty of Hawaii, I was really looking forward to my up and coming trip there in a few weeks and then came the tsunami...maybe I'll stay home! So realistic and heartbreaking. Never having been surfing, I enjoyed the scenes where the characters were riding the waves...sounds like fun but I'll probably stick to wading! I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrator, Bill Nevitt, does a great job telling the story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. And because many of the books I read and review are in the Christian fiction genre, I will just put a caution here that this book is at least a PG-13 rating, due to language and intimacy details.
This couple has the worst luck! A hurricane (Book #1), an earthquake (Book #2) and now a tsunami while on their honeymoon! And that's not all! When they are not trying to escape the ravages of nature, they are catching bad guys and running from really, really bad guys intent on killing them!
Author Chrys Fey writes fast paced, action-packed, adventures that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat, white-knuckled as you grip the book in your hands. Her description of the ravaging water will have you holding your breath and counting your rapid heartbeats.
When things go from bad to worse, you wonder if Beth and Donovan will ever be safe. And then when you think all is well... BAM!
Great book, but I highly recommend you read the other books in this series before delving into this one. The background of how Beth and Donovan met and how Thorn came into the picture will help establish their connection.
I listened to book two and wanted to find out what happened next in the story so gave this book ago. Glad I did because I liked the book two but enjoyed this book a lot more. There was less sex scenes than the second book which was what made me give it only a three star. It is the natural disasters that I find so interesting in this series, it is so well written that the story sucks you in. The story contains very strong characters that are developing nicely with each book. I did need a tissue because certain parts of the story tugs at the heart strings. Can't wait to start the next book. Beth and Donovan are preparing for there big day but with crank phone calls and someone trying to run Beth off the road, Beth is worried that there wedding day might not be the happy occasion she dreamt of. Donovan visits the man behind the intimidation in jail, only to find out that he has put targets on both there backs. The couple go through with the wedding and hope that a month away on there honeymoon means that the hired hit men won't be able to find them and the police would have plenty of time to round them all up. A few men track them to Hawaii and are about to take them out when a Tsunami hits the island. The warning system failed and many residents and tourist are affected. Can the couple keep there head above water? Bill Nevitt is a very talented narrator and a great choice as the reader. He does a very good job expressing the emotion and he takes you on a roller coaster of a ride with this book.
This is my second date with Donovan and Beth, having previously listened to book 2, Seismic Crimes. Much as I enjoy hearing about their escapades, I don't want to be friends with this couple. Everywhere they go some sort of natural disaster occurs! This was another fast paced adventure with a wedding and honeymoon thrown in. I thought the feelings expressed by both characters on their impending nuptials were very sweet; it made me try to cast my mind back to my pre-wedding emotions and hope that I'd felt the same meeting of souls, bodies and minds. Look, I'm not going to tell you that this is Shakespeare, but as a break from my usual fare of murder, mayhem, blood, guts and gore, it's a treat. The narration, by the brilliant Bill Nevitt, lifts the story to a higher level and I'm always impressed and amazed by how he manages to make Beth sound so feminine without recourse to any falsetto. All in all a super story and nearly 8 hours of pure escapism that will lift your spirits. Well worth a listen.
( Format : Audiobook ) "What's real and what's not? " Better than book two of the series, Tsunami Crimes finds those two unfortunate lovers, Beth and Donovan, preparing themselves for their wedding, followed by a relaxing honeymoon in Hawaii. Rather optimistic given the ferocity with which they are being pursued. But even they were unlikely to anticipate nature's aggression and the tsunami which wretches them apart. Never go on holiday with this couple! The lovers, frankly, are as intensely annoying as previously but the treatment of the natural disaster itself was terrifying and felt uncomfortably realistic. Narration of this book is again performed by the excellent Bill Nevitt, with pleasant voice and gentle accent, warm, well paced, and conveying both emotion and action, plus with appropriate individual character voicings. His readings are always well worth hearing
My thanks to the rights holder of Tsunami Crimes who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy.
Audio review This is a great fantastic audio. Book 3 in the series The author knows how to have you hanging by a string from the begging of the story till the very end There are lots of layers and twists and turns
Hero is Donavan. Heroine is Beth. Both Beth and Donavan meet during a natural disaster in San Fran . The earthquake hit them hard. They were running for their lives. And to top it off an evil man was chasing them. Not only that another man was after Beth and a Donavon was feeling threatened. Now years later they are ready for a happy ending, in Hawaii, getting married in paradise. While in paradise they are hit with a tsunami. They are running for their lives. And the villain tracked them down , they are running from more than the natural disaster
Bill Hewitt the narrator did fantastic work again on this part 3. Voice was strong, clear and the characters were well played also
All of Ms. Fey's books are well worth reading, but I've gotta tell ya, this author keeps getting better and better, and this is her best book so far. With a delightfully sentimental depth of emotion, a vivid and heartbreaking immersion into the horrors of a tsunami, and a realistic and terrifying account of Beth's kidnapping ordeal, this book has it all.
Love and romance? Check. Adventure out the wazoo? Check. A kick-ass heroine who goes through a horrific experience, but still manages to maintain her will to fight back and to reclaim her happily ever after? Oh, yeah. Definitely a check. And a super story populated with memorable characters, both good and bad? Check and check.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book (even when it made me shudder) and I think you will, too. An easy five stars.
These two (Beth and Donovan) have the worst luck in history, don’t ever travel with them! I couldn’t put this book down, literally, I was up until 3AM one-night reading. While on their honeymoon the unthinkable happens, a tsunami hits Hawaii. As if that weren’t enough, the threat they have been dealing with for a year has also followed them to the lover’s paradise. This isn’t a great start to a marriage guys!
As much as I want to say “oh come on, again? Really?” I can’t. Chrys Fey is just that good of a writer. These two characters have been in so many disasters that it should be laughable, but the stories are well written, captivating and they grab the reader and draw them in. I HIGHLY recommend reading this series and I look forward to reading the next book. I cannot imagine what could possible happen to them now!
Tsunami Crimes by Chrys Fey is another fantastic thrill ride, an adventure in survival, and a testament to true love, After a lovely and touching wedding, Donovan and Beth honeymoon in Hawaii. Devastation in the form of a tsunami similar to the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami hits without warning. Separated by the monster wave, Beth and Donovan struggle to reconnect amidst the destruction.
Beth must use all her skills and wits to survive, not only the tsunami but also the men who kidnap her. It’s a honeymoon no one would forget and while the bad guys are stopped and rounded up, well, it’s a crime series, so there’s always another waiting in the wings.
I will admit to having a crush on Detective Thorn. Beth and Donovan rely on his expertise, and it makes all the difference during their harrowing escapades! I highly recommend this series; you won’t regret this adventure!
This is not my normal genre, but I have read the author's blog for years and thought I should try some of her longer work. I enjoyed the detail she brought into the story. Her two characters, Beth and Donvan, would be an insurance underwriter's nightmare. Mixing a gangster attack with a tsunami was creative! But the story ends beautiful, after surviving both the water and a kidnapping.
I listened to this book and my biggest complaint is that to have a man read the women's dialogue (while trying to change his voice) was, at times, almost funny. Having heard the author read her own work, I would have enjoyed hearing her read this story.
Beth and Donovan are getting married but the bad guys have other plans. But when their detective friend gets the police to tighten the circle around the pair until they leave for their honeymoon all seems good and no one thinks they bad guys will follow them to Hawaii. But then a tsunami hits and Beth and Donovan get separated and they aren't even sure if the other, or the bad guy, has survived.
This is another 100 mph action book from start to end, with twists and turns all over. If you are listening to the series you will be glad to know that Bill Nevitt is back with another awesome narration of this series. I hope you all will love this series as much as I do.
Tsunami Crimes by Chrys Fey is the third book in the Disaster Crimes series featuring Beth and Donovan. They are on their honeymoon in Hawaii and Mother-Nature has another disaster yet again for them to face. I love how the author weaves crimes into the stories of disaster. The imagery in this book is so realistic, and the story is well paced with the wedding and honeymoon added in. Bill Nevitt brings Donovan and Beth to life with his distinguishable voices. I like how each book is a standalone listen and builds more depth to the characters.
Once again, Chrys Fey takes us on a wild ride with Beth and Donovan. Donovan's knack for finding trouble or having it follow him, is easily forgiven when he shows us his heroic abilities. He saves himself but of course, he wouldn't let any harm come to Beth. I think this one was even better than the last Disaster Crimes. Fey has a wonderful ability to mix romance with action that always leaves me feeling satisfied.
My second read/listen from author Chrys Fey. The characters introduced in Hurricane Crimes (Disaster Crimes #1) are back in this third in series.I was given an Audible copy of Tsunami Crimes & am voluntarily reviewing it. Obviously I’ve missed something in not reading book 2 in the series. Well-written romantic suspense, captivating & intriguing with well-developed characters in this longer work. I’ll be reading more in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I listened to this on audio book and was not disappointed in the latest instalment of this series. How much trouble can befall these two people. As soon as things seem to be going well for Donovan and Beth as they finally tie the knot this is just the start of another natural disaster sending them down a very dark path. Loved it. The fact that Bill Nevitt is narrating it just adds to the enjoyment.
I haven't read any of the previous two books in this series, but it seems that two main characters go from one disaster to another, such an unlucky pair! This one is a Tsunami whilst they are on their honeymoon.
I found the storyline and the description of the Tsunami really good, it has clearly been well-researched. My only negative is that it was a bit too cheesy for my liking, I guess it's because I am not a huge fan of romance books.
Yes, each book is an installment, but that's a good thing because it would be too overwhelming to have all that in one book. And that's even without the natural disasters along the way! This time they get married and go to Hawaii for a surfing honeymoon but things get too exciting when they are followed by the criminals and nearly wiped out by the tsunami. I loved it! It's a real adrenaline rush. Bill Nevitt really knows how to ramp up the tension with his narration!
I truly liked this one. Really suspenseful, lots of moments of great tension and emotional turmoil and a realistic way to deal with trauma and its aftermath.
The fact that Beth and Donovan were away from each other most of the book and therefore there weren't a lot of those over the top sex scenes is, indeed, a plus :P
And Bill Nevitt is, as always, fantastic narrating this story.
Wow what a fantastic third book. Beth and Donovan are getting married but still no peace. They receive threats and what are they going to do with this problem. Love this series. Received a free copy.
Another adventure for Beth and Donovan - but this one is on their honeymoon! One of my worst fears is being caught in a Tsunami so I found the story quite scary but the intrepid pair come out on top. An enjoyable read apart from their more intimate moments which I skipped over.
