Generation Rent: The Inequalities of the Private Lettings System

Rate this book
“Justice will never be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.”
Benjamin Franklin.

In 2014, housing charity Shelter found that the equivalent of almost 8,000 people were evicted from rented accommodation every month. Tenants are not only under-protected, they are ripped off, exploited and completely vulnerable. Yet landlords continue to insist that they need more rights, and more protection.

This book is a chronicle of my experiences as a tenant. It is about the disputes I’ve had, and highlights the very reasons the lettings system is unfair, and why tenants are the ones in need of better protection.
