The terror is real. Grayson Hawkes is living every Disney fan’s dream. He’s in charge of the beloved international empire, with access to all the fantastical worlds created by Walt Disney himself. But hidden within the dream, secrets and danger lurk. Because in the world of Disney, there are always heroes and villains. And winning or losing is a matter of life and death. In Terror in the Kingdom, the highly anticipated fourth installment in the Dixon on Disney series (The Key to the Kingdom, Unlocking the Kingdom, Storming the Kingdom), "Hawk" must not only protect the highly coveted secrets of Walt Disney, he must also save those closest to him. The future hangs in the balance. The terror is real. Hawk is on the brink of uncovering Walt Disney's deepest, most influential secrets. First he must locate the mysterious fourth Imagineer, who holds the final piece of the mystery. But Hawk's deadly opponents seem to stay one step ahead. Could they have infiltrated the ranks of those he trusts? Author Jeff Dixon once again weaves together fact, history, and trivia to create an action-packed page-turner, best described as faction. Readers are left to figure out where facts end and fiction begins. With his uncanny knowledge of the inner workings of the Most Magical Place on Earth, Dixon offers Disney fans their ultimate the adventure of experiencing Walt Disney World from the inside out.
Jeff is the author of a series of books set in Central Florida, in and around the Walt Disney World Resort. These mystery thrillers are loaded with trivia, hidden secrets, and loaded with adventure as parody, reality, and fiction built on fact (or "faction" as some have called it, collide in epic stories that are designed to take readers on the ultimate thrill ride.
I first visited the original Disneyland, in Anaheim, California, a few weeks after it opened in 1955 (I believe it was Labor Day weekend, but that is a lot of years ago). I fell in love with it immediately, and it continues to be my favorite place, though my last visit was in 2003, when I was 57 years old.
Sadly, health and finances have precluded a visit to Walt Disney World in Florida, but this series has been the next best thing to being able to visit in person. Thank you, Jeff Dixon and Grayson Hawkes, for letting me accompany you both on this journey.
What an ending to this 4-book series where Disney World meets a wonderful Christian faith! Although this book started off slow in the first half, which seemed like a useless scavenger hunt (although the facts were cool), the second half truly was a fast-paced adventure. The ending was partly satisfying, albeit confusing and more philosophical than expected. However, I thoroughly enjoyed spending the first half of this year reading this series.
What a fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding read!!! It kept me on my toes to the last chapter. It makes me have a new appreciation and fascination with the life of Walt. I want to learn more about the man behind just the creator of the theme parks! Thank you, Jeff, for such an amazing journey!!!!!!
These stories kept me on the edge of my seat. Jeff, God has blessed you with an awesome talent to tell a story. Hope to look back one day and say. "Hey I knew him when...."
I looked forward to each word written in this series! Being the Disnerd that I am, I loved sharing things I discovered that I didn’t know with my Disnerd husband. I’m just sad that the books ended, but onto the next Disney book! Thank you, Jeff Dixon!
Mr. Dixon does an amazing job of mixing Disney trivia with a fictitious situation that keeps you guessing right till the end. Great story set in the most magical place on earth. Read the 4 in order. It’s a fun ride.
I was a little disappointed with the end of this series. The "big secret" was a bit lame and I felt things snowballed to a bit of a rushed ending. I was not a huge fan of Jillian's character, and having both main females with similar "J" names got a little confusing.
I appreciate the amount of research and anticipation that Mr. Dixon used, but it bothered me that both "The Great Movie Ride" and "Slinky Dog Dash" were mentioned as both being rides at DHS, but technically those never existed in the same universe. GMR closed almost a full calendar year before SDD opened...but with this being published in 2016, there was no way Mr. Dixon could have known that.
Jeff has been able to take a world known so well to so many and expand on those hidden details. Yes, the story is fictional but the locations being real and details laid out for you in real life has provided a wonderful connection between magic and imagination.
