Mutants & Masterminds: Power Profiles

Rate this book
The Mutants & Masterminds Superhero Roleplaying Game gives you all the tools you need to create the super powers you imagine. Power Profiles gives you those powers... and more!

In this book are more than thirty power types from Air and Armor to Water and Weather, each with some two dozen or more powers described and built in M&M game terms. That's more than seven hundred different ready-to-use powers, all in one book!

Power Profiles includes something for everyone. Think your ideal hero doesn't have any powers? Think again: Power Profiles includes Luck Powers, Martial Powers, and Talent Powers, special abilities that could all be described as superior training or skill!

You can find endless ideas for M&M heroes and villains just by turning the pages of Power Profiles and letting your imagination go, and you can point both new and experienced players to just the right section for the hero they want to play.

Power Profiles includes new power options, extras, flaws, and variants to modify the basic power effects from the Hero's Handbook, so you can create the powers you want. More than just powers, each profile also covers complications associated with those powers, to give your characters added depth and to help you earn hero points in play.

Power Profiles refines and greatly expands the power options from Mutants & Masterminds, taking its basic effects and turning them into a wealth of options you can choose from. With this book, there's no limit to your power!

My physical reprint of this one came in the mail and I am so freaking happy I cannot tell you, having just run through it again on a headachey day where focusing on anything major isn't going to happen.

This book is more-or-less what it says on the tin: a catalog of powers, organized by types, and is an invaluable resource for either just (a) picking powers you'd like to work with, and (b) looking at how the powers are put together to figure out how to do work with your own ideas—sort of like pulling apart an engine to figure out how to put one together, albeit with a better chance of success.

Each power is broken down into per-rank costs when applicable, which really, really helps, as well as suggesting potential additions/limitations. Basically, I began devouring the whole of the Mutants & Masterminds world as a Pandemic-defying hobby to explore, and I really want to get back to a gaming table with it, soon. My group of author-players made amazing characters and I do want to send them on more journeys.

If you could only have one book alongside the Hero’s Handbook it would be Power Profiles.

This book takes power creation and makes it so much easier! It lists common superpower categories and groups powers by function (offensive, defensive, movement, utility, features). From there it is a matter of players picking the powers they want from this menu.

Unfortunately Green Ronin do not appear to have kept this book in print but, the PDF is just as useful.
