****Don't miss this first book in the brand new Wolves of Winter's Edge standalone series from T. S. Joyce****
Gentry Striker is right back where he swore he would never be again—his hometown. All he has to do is tie up some loose ends and escape the darkness that has enveloped this place, but he can feel his destiny pulling him deeper into the shadows of this old town. The local pack has been taken over by one seriously unstable alpha, and Gentry is a rogue on a mission to escape. That is, until a striking beauty grabs his attention and demands to stay at the home he is renting out. The problem? She’s human, and isn’t safe in a town full of monsters. Perhaps Gentry is the biggest monster of all, but she’s got him wanting to dig back into his old life and become a better man. She doesn’t know it yet, but she has his wolf hunting her. And he’s not the only one.
Blaire Hayward is on a last-minute vacation to escape the monotony of her life for a little while. The plan is to spend some time in a cabin in snow country relaxing, but when she coasts into Rangeley, nothing is what it seems. The people in this town are acting strangely, and there is something dark going on under the surface that she can’t quite figure out. And at the center of it all is Gentry Striker. Tall, snarly, sexy, and mysterious, he’s calling to her heart in ways she never thought possible. But - the longer she stays, the more uncertain her life becomes, because Rangeley is no normal town. It’s a town of beasts, and Blaire is falling for the most dangerous of them all.
Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences.
T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.
Bear Shifters? Check Smoldering Alpha Hotness? Double Check Sexy Scenes? Fasten up your girdles, ladies and gents, it's gonna to be a wild ride.
This read was a bit of a surprise for me. I had not read any of the author's previous works. Amazon recommended I would like this one based on my previous purchases - and what do you know, I sure did!
This book is the first in a series trilogy. The stories center around the Striker brothers who are estranged from one another, but are all brought back to their hometown after a family death. They find the town and its people in poor shape after a sinister wolf has taken over the old pack.
There are three hot alpha wolf brothers, Gentry, Roman, and Asher.
This first book is Gentry's, and we basically have a wolf + human story. Both main characters were likable, and while they had a quick connection, it worked for me because 'paranormal.' Anyway.. As their story unfolds, we begin to unravel family secrets and town mysteries, dark magic and shifter drama.
If you're a fan of pnr and eat up this fantasy stuff for breakfast, I recommend this book to you. I flew through this story and immediately started brother #2's book, Roman. The stories are engaging and different. I rate it 3.75/4 stars.
This book was different from any other book I have read from this author. There were more tones of unknown and mystery and lots of unanswered questions. Not all was explained as in the other series. We have witches and dark magic mixed with a sinister pack. There were also some editing mistakes that I haven't seen from this author before.
Gentry was one hot sex wolf with tons of issues. There is a huge family dynamic going on that still wasn't explained by the end. Gentry is the middle brother and he isn't as dark as the other two. Their dynamic is way off and it was never truly explained. Hopefully in the future.
Blaire was a total hoot! She was funny smart and had a cool snarkiness! She held her ground against all those brothers and stood tall against their judgments. Her backstory was laid out and she wasn't a mystery as much as the brothers. She also fought for what she wanted...Life with Gentry. I like her!
Again the sex is hot, always is from Ms Joyce. Gentry....in one word Yum!
Different book in a good way, I am on board with this new series.
Exciting for t.s. To branch out with a new series, type of shifters, and still keep some central ideas - I.e. "1010" and adding another element with witches.
Is this my favorite book from t.s.' work? No. is it still good, yes!
I am excited to see how this story continues with Gentry's brother -- Asher & Roth and how the witch plays out in this series!
Blaire & Gentry -- chemistry was hot! There was lots of humor between these two and then esp with the brothers. Claire is one of my favorite characters and I adore that she's a "cradle robber" ;-)
Yay! To T.S. Joyce and her new adventure. I applaud her on stepping out and doing something new as an author and an artist. Kudos, I know this series is only going to get better :D
Hot damn I loved this story. I'm not usually a fan of insta-lust but it really worked for these two characters. I loved Blaire. She was cute, sassy, a little awkward, and all around fun. Her and Gentry were adorable together. Gentry himself was all kinds of awesome. He was tough yet tender, a perfect combo for me.
What a great follow on to Kane's Mountains series. ( the two series are not connected in anyway.) But after loving that series I thought it would be pretty hard to follow on from that.
I underestimated her.
I really enjoyed this. It had a great element of suspense, some angst, Some super hot sex scenes and a few surprises just so you don't get bored. The story is very well detailed but simple enough for you to follow without having a information overload. The side characters are a definite work in progress but secretly likeable.
Gentry was very likeable in a asshole kind of way. His back the fuck off vibe was kind of a turn on I'm not going to lie. I found him to be extremely misunderstood and neglected. Acording to everyone else he's the favourite child but if you ask me he was the loneliest one of them with far to much pressure out on his shoulders at such a young age. I really enjoyed his first interactions with Blaire. Deep down he's a sweetheart with a bite.
Blaire bless her is hilarious. After months of living in the past her best friend decides she needs a swift vaykay and sends her off to the wolfs... literally. After a very hilarious first encounter with Gentry I knew I'd love her. She's super sweet and genuine but she's fierce, Feisty and not afraid to speak her mind either. Her little snarky remarks and point blank refusal to listen to anything had me cracking up. And how protective she was of gentry pulled on the old heart strings.
It's not 5 stars for me because I found some parts to be a little draggy.. not enough to make me want to stop reading. Just enough to make me notice it's the first book of the series.. like laying the ground work for what comes next. Sometimes it was a little excessively detailed.
Other than that I really enjoyed it.
While I'm writing this i have already read both this and Romans because I'm an impatient bitch. Just go read that one to cause it kicks ass.
This author is an auto buy for me as I am never disappointed by any of her stories. I absolutely loved this new addition. The characters have some similarities to her other series but they're perfect in their raw emotions and just different enough to make their own mark for me. I really enjoyed the heroine and found their chemistry off the charts hot! I'm really looking forward to the next installment. I love that there is another 1010 to work from! :)
I'd swear this was written by someone else other than my beloved TS Joyce. This just didn't feel like her work. A bit darker and a little too insta-luvvy for me. I can't believe I'm saying this, but 2 stars. And I won't be continuing this trilogy.
Pick up her bear series instead if you want something really good!
*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content Hoowee! This has some grumpy alpha males.💪 I wasn't expecting the bomb that was dropped at the end when help was needed most, and that is always great when there is a surprise plot twist! I usually say how great these characters are, but it this story, the brothers are growlly buttholes🤷. Even with them being so ornery, I enjoyed this story so much, I will be getting the next one in the series.
I enjoyed this with the exception of the insta-love. I liked their banter and I thought they were a great match, but it was just a little too quick for me and I would've liked a little more build up in the beginning. I like the way "Wolf" is referenced. I'm interested in reading the brother's stories next.
A spine-tingling romantic tale with family drama, family secrets, deadly danger, suspense, action, life-threatening incidents and a happy ending after all the obstacles are conquered.
Gentry Striker and his brothers have been called back to their hometown Rangeley to settle their dad’s affairs. Their dad was the alpha of the pack and the new alpha is a notorious monster. Gentry is said to be the dad’s favorite which has always made his brothers hate him. Blaire Hayward’s best friend felt she needed a vacation from work and also time away from the home she shared with her ex-husband. Her birthday vacation gift is a week in the town of Rangeley in a cabin owned by Gentry. Gentry and his wolf take a liking to the human beauty but in this wolf world humans are forbidden and death could be her fate. Gentry must protect Blaire from the onslaught of the danger that awaits them and Gentry's brothers must decide to either put aside their differences or lose him forever.
A fantastic beginning to a wild new series; fast-paced, wonderfully written and definitely a page turner. The author immediately lures you into the story with the intriguing plot, witty dialogue, humor, and flirtatious and powerful vivid scene descriptions. The action is exciting and I loved the interaction between the brothers. Gentry is definitely an alpha but his tender love and devotion shine for Blaire. Blaire is sassy, sweet and fearless. Their romance is filled with fiery sensuous passion. The ending is awesome. I found this to be an exhilarating and most entertaining read and can’t wait for Roman’s book. In the world of shifter romance, the magic begins with the first word to paper. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
I must have received a defective copy of this novel, with all of the 5 star reviews and Squees going on about it.
--- Nelda wasn’t sweet after all . Nelda was a cock - blocker . {Eighty year old woman cockblocking the male love interest? I’m never going to get that image out of my head. }
I’m going to reach through the phone and give you two purple nurples
His eyes hardened like shards of green glass on the woman . {hard as glass? Hardened as hard as glass on the woman-- oh Green glass, right.. Got it, because green goes with anger like, um yeah…}
Now she was afraid to give anyone eye contact because the entire grocery store was apparently a mixed bag of nuts
Oh good , another lunatic . Blaire blinked slowly and shook her head {yes, so much better than mentally challenged. And the blink at slow speed too. }
Rhett’s gonna kill you . What a strange thing to say . {Why do the females alway have to be so out of it? They're suppose to be the heroine, not be heroin junkies.}
She’d put some kind of mango - scented lip gloss on her full lips that he wanted to suck off , and when she turned her head to check if cars were coming , he spied a tiny red heart tattoo right behind her ear. Blaire wasn’t the good girl she claimed to be. {The entire book is written like this -- ranting, topic changing, brain bouncing, head jumping stream of multi-consciousness -- and then he’s talking to “Wolf” which is what? A separate personality? Zero spirit mythos to work with so I’m not sure what ‘Wolf’ is. I think it’s something like Hulk and David Banner or something -- my only clue there is Blaire constantly talking like Hulk -- so yeah, makes as much sense as anything else in this story..}
Gentry was really good at winks , head nods , and smexiness {A combination of the words smut and sex. While sex can refer only to the mechanics of the act, the addition of smut into the equation (meaning to make obscene or pornographic) gives it a more vulgar connotation. -- because that’s what this book needs, more vulgar, lewd, pornographic exchange and the hell with actual sexiness. or Eroticness or like... romance. F-that romance stuff. We be wolves and lick mango }
Big Gray let off a deep bark, and the pack lunged as one for her and Gentry. {Wolves don’t bark. They can yip and they can whine and they can howl. But they don’t bark. Not even deep. Or shallow. Or at sea level. The only barking that happens in wolves is as pups, or juveniles. Certainly no wolf-leader would use a bark as a command. That would be like using a Squeeee for giving orders to Navy SEALs. See: https://www.drmartybecker.com/petconn... } {Canis lupus. Wolves are among the most gregarious and cooperative of animals on the planet, and their ability to cooperate in well-coordinated drives to hunt prey, carry items too heavy for an individual, provisioning not only their own young but also the other pack members, babysitting etc. are rivaled only by that of human societies. }
These were the most un-wolf-like wolves I’ve ever read. Wolf packs are less about ferocity and more about order. A wolf survives because of his/her pack. A leader such as Rhett would have been rejected, or simply ignored. Abandoned. While in the pack he might be Alpha, but that doesn’t keep wolves from leaving the pack, which happens frequently with Omega and Beta wolves. They just leave.
The pack leader isn't necessarily the alpha male [source: Busch]. The alpha female takes the reins in certain groups since wolf rankings are based on strength and the ability to win fights, not gender. Although other wolves within the pack may copulate when prey abounds, the alpha pair are normally the only ones to mate. Multiple female wolves in the same pack can cause problems, however, since they fight with each other more often than males [source: Busch]. Busch = Ginny Busch, Executive Director of the Endangered Wolf Center http://www.endangeredwolfcenter.org
A pack mentality has extreme loyalty and devotion to the group, binds the wolves together as a unit, despite times of scarce prey or violence. For example, while the alpha wolves rule, they also ensure that all pups get their fill of food before the others, or themselves, dig in. http://www.wolf.org/
So, it would require a complete disregard for even the surface knowledge of a wolf patterned social dynamic to come up with a group of Werewolves who are this … I don’t know what they are. Humans with rabies? maybe, since they couldn’t even refrain from snarling at the grocery store.
So, there is no plot here, not even a story really. Gentry’s father is killed by Rhette and it takes Gentry the entire book to finally meet and defeat Rhette and the rest of the pack, -- even though that would never happen with wolves, it does -- if they have rabies? -- maybe or something. And these two bookend occurrences -- save a few encounters to remind the reader, and Gentry and Blaire that there's more to the world than these two thinking about the mango sucking desirability of each other and fucking -- because otherwise it would just be porn -- even though the plot is not moved or progressed by this mango sweetness licking gibberish at all. But then there’s nowhere for the plot to go since it has only two points. Begin…. End. Next monkey. And speaking of monkey sex, we have it here within less than a full hour of knowing each other. That's some romantic stuff there. Faster than a plumber and mom.
No wolf dynamic, no relation to intelligence or self preservation in the pack members. Total disregard for human or wolf social norms. Humans are oblivious, and simply don’t see or hear or notice that people are snarling and snapping at them in grocery stores, bars, on the street, even old ladies with shopping carts.
The ‘Wolf’ is a symbiotic incorporeal entity which lobotomized the emotion and passion areas of the human it merges with and becomes the only source of emotional intelligence and passion. (like that word? Lobo-tomized? Get it? )
What exactly gets a five star rating? Periods in the right place? often?
3.5-4 stars. I enjoyed the characters a lot, as I always do with a TS Joyce book, but the plot fell the tiniest bit flat for me and there were some minor proofreading errors.
Definitely a book where I will reread it a few times, and at least one of those times will be after the series is over. This book lays the groundwork for the larger plot that will unravel in the remaining stories to tell, and I think that got a bit in the way of this particular story. That said, there was humor, and action, and some choice takeaway lines I will wish hard I can use in some real life event in my life. She always gives us fantastic dialogue.
Don't be surprised if I raise the rating after the series is complete and I get to read everything in one go.
Gentry, book one in TS Joyce's new series, was breathtaking. I couldn't put it down. I was sad to leave the last series, but this new one...right out the gate, it's just as good!
I fell for Gentry from the beginning of the book. Handsome badass wolf, and the sweetest guy. And Blaire was someone I would love to be friends with. She has a sense of humor that kept me rolling throughout the whole book.
Every time I finish a TS Joyce book, I think then next one can't possibly be as good as that one. But they always are! I haven't read one book by this author that I didn't fall in love with. And although they're all a favorite in some way, this one is close to the top for me. I can't wait for Roman, book two!
This was an amazing start to a new series with a very different stance on werewolves than in previous books. I'm not giving that away though. I loved Gentry snd Blaire!! Blaire had such an attitude and wasn't letting anyone tell her what to do even if might be for the best. Gentry wanted Blaire even if it broke all the rules. When Roman and Asher showed up what seemed hard got even worse and things spiraled out of control from there. I actually came to like and root for Roman and Asher and can't wait for their stories. I'm betting they're going to be good ones. I can't wait to see what the Wolves of Winters edge have in store for the Evil taking over the town.
Gentry Good cast of characters with a new take on shifters. Definitely moving to book 2 of the series because i just want to see Gentry (hero of this installment) get his revenge.
So happy I decided to try this authors book. She's a new author to me so I wasn't familiar with her books but it was so worth it! I absolutely loved Gentry and Blaire aka Chaos & Trouble. They were a perfect match for each other. She was funny and laid back where he is more series and takes no shit. This book definitely offered so heat along with suspense and humor. Can't wait to read Romans book next.
T S Joyce does it again! The Wolves of Winter's Edge is a brand new series about three brothers who happen to be werewolves. The first book is Gentry and Blaire's story. Once again, Ms. Joyce creates a story of love, laughter, sorrow, and redemption. You can't help but root for, and fall in love with these characters. I can't wait for the next book.
Kindle Unlimited standalone. Another great book from one of my favorite authors!! He comes home when his dad, the Alpha, loses a challenge and dies. When a human woman gets under his skin, he life becomes in danger. His brothers hate him, the new Alpha wants him gone. There is a with and lots of wolf shifters... good read.
I loved Gentry's story. I am looking forward to Roman's and whatever else TS Joyce has in store for the Winter's Edge Pack. I love how Gentry and Blaire got their HEA even though it was against the law. I can't wait to meet the lady in store for Roman!
Wonderful start to the new series. It was perfect. Can't wait for Romans story next, I totally fell for Roman. Definitely would recommend this book and every book T S Joyce writes. She's absolutely amazing!!
Great couple and their attraction is immediate and so steamy. He's cares deeply but also knows he should deny her. She's a very likeable person, clever and I liked how she teased him. She's the catalyst that lifts him up and challenges him to be the man to save his family. Loved it.
I'm not sure how this author created the perfect mix of humor and darkness in this book, but it's nothing short of brilliant. I've fell in love with the Striker boys and will not rest until I've read all three books.
