The Year of our Lord, 1072 – Sir Gerard, eldest of the three de Clairvoy brothers, is happily married to Elfreda Golderon, a pretty, fair-haired Saxon girl. More levelheaded than her younger sister and sister-in-law, Elfreda is the ‘sensible’ sister, yet she soon falls foul of her husband’s wrath, sometimes through no fault of her own, and ends up over his knee. Elfreda loves her husband and tries her best to behave but, at times, circumstances mean shehas to flout his rules. Even though she knows he will discipline her, she still finds herself disobeying him. Gerard has never been happier. Married to the winsome Elfreda, he must defend his Norman castle against Saxon rebels whilst protecting the woman he loves inside – even if his protection means spanking her disobedient bottom to keep her safe. Publisher's Contains sexual scenes and adult spanking.
I love this series of stories, of the the 3 brother's Gerard seems the most placid and his wife the most obedient but this book shows even she has a mischievous side. I'd love to see another book maybe where the wives plot something together. A really good story
"Gerard" is the third book in Maryse Dawson's "Knights of Normandy" series. If you've read the first two books, you'll know that Elfredo is the older sister of Cynwise, and both are married to the de Clairvoy brothers. After finishing the first two books, I had the impression that Cynwise and Elvino, her sister-in-law, were the mischievous ones, while Elfredo seemed to be the mature sister trying to keep the younger two out of trouble. However, this book was an eye-opener! As it turns out, Elfredo has more mischief in her than the earlier books suggested. There were instances where she found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, but there were also moments where she was the instigator, which surprised me and made me laugh. Ms. Dawson has made Elfredo more relatable with each chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
AYE, I WAS FOOLHARDY. ‘TWILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, MY LORD
Book three will have the three de Clairvoy brothers, along with their wives get together several times. Elfreda is married to Gerard and is usually not naughty, but it seems to be around her sister, Cynwise, and sister-in-law, Elvina, brings a change in her. With each of the households, their families are growing, adding new children. Sometimes the mothers act like silly schoolgirls with some of their antics and ploys.
The people of the castle have been warned to stay inside the gates because of Wulfwynn, but Matild, Elfreda’s maid, leaves to gather berries for a potion and Elfreda goes looking for here. No good deed goes unpunished and multiple times, Elfreda, gets caught up in another’s actions and she finds herself bottoms up over Gerard’s lap. The series has a great cast of characters, naughty wives, dominant husbands, plenty of punishments, but forgiveness and love making. Many people from previous books will be found in this one.
As with the previous two books in this series, I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters, Gerard and Elfreda. This couple was previously mentioned in the series and at that point, I have to admit that I found Elfreda rather boring compared to her sisters. This book did a lot to dispel my thoughts on that front. I was happy to read that Elfreda has just as much spunk and feistiness as her sisters-in-in and finds herself over Gerard’s lap multiple times for letting her emotions override her good sense. I loved that Gerard was just as strong a man as his two brothers and didn’t hesitate to discipline his wife when needed. I continue to enjoy this series and will make sure that I read the next book once it’s released to get an update on all three of these wonderful couples. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This third book in the Knights of Normandy series had less of a plot than the first two. This book spans several years and tells isolated stories involving Elfreda making poor decisions and getting in trouble with her protective husband, Gerard. The antics were out of character for the normally level headed, obedient wife, but were entertaining nonetheless and often involved her spirited sister and sister-in-law. This book included a return of the blacksmith, Algar, as well as conflict with Saxon rebels. The stories were interesting and overall the book is a light, enjoyable read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Who knew women could be so mischievous and so much fun in the year of our Lord, 1072? In a castle in Normandy, to be taken in hand by a large, no nonsense, husband like Sir Gerard, Elfreda finds she couldn't be happier. Elfreda, with her sister and sister-in-law, together make a troublesome three-some and find themselves over the knees of their knighted husbands extremely often. But the women are loved, cherished, protected and cared for. This was a quick, fun read. Maryse Dawson never disappoints!
This is the 3rd book of this series, and has all the characters from the first two. It can be read as a standalone. Elfreda is constantly in trouble and over her husband's lap. Besides spanking, there are explicit sex scenes. I voluntarily received an advanced reader copy of this book.
‘Gerard’ is an enjoyable story about three mischievous sisters who have a knack for causing trouble and their alpha husbands who know how to reprimand naughty behavior. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
