Not for me.

Melissa Bell has terrible taste in men and that's the reason she returns home to find the house she shares with her ex-boyfriend trashed and the walls spray painted with the message 'Pay up by Friday or you both die' then while she's upstairs the men return.
Now luckily her twin sister Ashley has married a rich and powerful wolf shifter Ben Stone who calls in the local alpha to help.
Cody doesn't particularly like giving an alpha promise but he likes the idea of being owed a favour by Ben Stone and so he moves to protect Ben's sister-in-law Mellissa but Melissa is in way more trouble than Cody expected with drug dealer.
Where do I start?
My main problem with this book was that I didn't particularly like either of the main characters especially Melissa who grated on me from the beginning. Her problems are more than just bad taste in men she's also pretty dumb and just plain irritating. Every time things are going well between these two she opens her mouth and screws it all up and it made for difficult reading and felt like it was being done just to lengthen the book, in fact if I hadn't requested this book from NetGalley I would have quit early on when she ordered the Ubër but since I had requested it I felt obliged to finish.
There's not really that much story it's mainly sex and misunderstandings so there's not really much else for me to say. I was wondering at one point if I'd been a bit harsh but then Melissa has a huge TSTL moment and I quickly skimmed the rest to be done with this book.
There's some great reviews for this book and I was wondering if I'm just too picky, it's true I do struggle with the stupid females which seem to be becoming a bit of an epidemic these days.

3.5 Spankin Stars!

Melissa has found herself in some serious trouble because of her loser ex-boyfriend. Her sister and Alpha wolf husband are on their honeymoon. He calls up Cody, an alpha wolf from another pack, asking for a favor to keep Melissa safe until they return home.

The problem is, Melissa is too trusting and loyal, finding herself with men who treat her badly. She's fed up and wants to make a change. Cody was thrown out of his pack by his father when he was a boy with parting words saying he isn't good enough and could only mate with a human. Apparently this is an insult.

I really wanted to love this one. I love a dominant hero and you definitely get that, but Cody kept ruining my love for him. His fathers taunting words about only being good enough to mate a human causes him to deny Melissa over and over. His wolf recognizes her as his mate but he refuses to accept it because of pride. It irked me that Melissa was considered beneath him. Add in Melissa's own judging and pushing away, I just felt the push and pull dominated too much of the story.

I've read several books by this author and mostly enjoy her books. She feeds me my addiction of dominant males that are very protective. So even though this story wasn't my favorite, I'm still looking forward to more in the series.

I love this book. I immediately went and purchased the rest of the series after reading it. So far though I've only read this book, and IMO it worked just fine as a standalone.

Overall:

I got everything I've come to love & expect in a mainstream PNR. Good storyline, characters, romance, foreplay, build-up, etc...

Plus, a dominant alpha male and a sassy heroine.

Melissa Bell has made many wrong choices in her life, including choosing bad boys for boyfriends. But she is done with bad boys that bring her nothing but drama and heartache. But when her ex boyfriend Jeremy puts her in danger because of money he owes, she is offered protection from a type of bad boy she has never known. Cody, a alpha for his young pack has never known a woman like Melissa. He can't believe he is offering to a woman that seems to act like a spoiled princess. He knows he can't even think about claiming her as his mate even if his wolf is riding him hard to do so. But he also can't resist his alpha nature when she constantly disobeys him with no thought to her safety. But Melissa isn't afraid of Cody or his sexual appetites, and soon these two will test the limits of their desires and discover a powerful love...
Plot and Story Line
First off, I will say that this book is NOT for everyone. So if you aren't a fan of the BDSM lifestyle, I wouldn't recommend this book at all. However if you do like it, or you like shifter romances I would say grab this one up. Now there were some things I didn't like about this one, but for the most part it was a likable read and I really liked the shifter wolf lifestyle we are introduced into. Now I didn't realize before I read this that it had BDSM elements in it. So my bad, for not reading the publisher's note on that one. But I did like the actual feels that we get from this book. The romance was well done despite the negative aspects I felt for it. I was also intrigued by our couple from the first book of the series, where the heroine is Melissa's sister. And their relationship was so tight and I just couldn't get enough of how close knit these two sisters were to each other. Now onto the actual romance we have here. My biggest issue wasn't necessarily the BDSM elements, I don't mind lite BDSM in a romance. But this one was a bit more intense that I like to read. There were a couple of scenes that had me cringing so bad. So in all honestly, I did have some issues with the bed room type scenes, they just aren't what I am comfortable with, a bit too extreme for my taste. But there were other aspects of the story that I did enjoy quite a bit.
The Cover
Okay I will admit, I have a weakness for a muscular sculpted back, So I quite love this cover. And the forest night backdrop is a nice touch.
Overall View
The Alpha's Promise is a well written erotic romance that is bound to scorch the pages yet give you all the emotion you expect in a love story.

Cody could be quite the charmer, “baby, you’ll wear what I get you, or you can trot around in your panties for all I care.” He leaned closer to her ear. “Actually, I would prefer the latter.” I really liked this book, Cody was really bossy, and I enjoyed it.

Okay, so this one had all the ingredients I usually love—protective alpha wolf, a heroine in danger, steamy tension, and plenty of possessiveness… but honestly? It kinda missed the mark for me.

Melissa is in serious trouble thanks to her deadbeat ex. While her sister and her Alpha brother-in-law are on their honeymoon, he calls in a favor from Cody, an alpha from another pack, to keep her safe.

Cody is broody, dominant and haunted by his past. His own father kicked him out as a kid, telling him he was only “good enough to mate with a human.” And in wolf terms? That’s a major insult.

So when his wolf recognizes Melissa as his mate? He fights it. Hard. And that’s where things got frustrating. Cody’s pride had him denying their connection over and over, and it low-key felt like he thought Melissa was beneath him, which majorly irked me. On top of that, Melissa’s own trust issues and push-pull didn’t help. Their back-and-forth took over the whole story and honestly… got old fast.

That said, this was still a quick, steamy read with plenty of dirty talk, tension and yes… a lot of spanking and the chemistry was definitely there.

I liked the premise (the FMC has sworn off bad boys after her loser boyfriend puts her life in danger, the MMC is the alpha who’s called in to protect her) but it felt long for a 164 page book — probably because the push-and-pull got repetitive, and their dynamic felt stuck in the judge-y stage for most of the book.

I also find Renee Rose’s books (when not co-written with Lee Savino) heavier on the spanking than I usually prefer, but YMMV!

this was a quick read. There was plenty of sexual tension and eventually sex. A lot of dirty talk and thoughts. oh yeah and a lot of spanking. The story started off pretty good with Melissa getting caught up in a mess her ex boyfriend was involved in. The author did not do much with that situation until the end. She needed help and her brother in law sent Cody. They made a few unjustified assumptions about each other so the relationship started off a little tense. Eventually they got to know each other and the attraction grew off the charts. It grew to the point where they couldn't deny it any longer. The was pretty much the story. The bad guys and other plot did not really get a lot of attention. It was a good sexy read.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This story was a real gem - lots of heat, characters with depth, and loads of action to keep my interest. I always enjoy Renee Rose's writing, but she really just keeps getting better. There was some very fine writing with clever and appropriate word choices - so often wording in erotic books ends up causing painful eye rolling, but this was just so much fun to read.

I liked Melissa and Cody, both had integrity and self awareness without excessive angst. Cody is an alpha without being an a$$, and Melissa is loyal and strong without being TSTL (although there was one time she came pretty close). I sure hope we have a book about Mark and Colleen coming soon!

I'm not usually into BDSM, but this story was fun and charming, in addition to being off the charts steamy! This was my first Renee Rose, but definitely nit the last - the mythology was original and it felt fresh, the characters were well developed and distinctive, the plot moved slowly and didn't detract from the romance. Can't wait for the next one!

This shifter romance is different from the others that I have read and what I mean by that is, these werewolves have a bit of BDSM with their mates. Yes, it is usually normal to see that with wolves would be the dominate one in the relationship. But they don't punish their mate or partners the same way. Everything that happened between the character was wanted by both parties. NO one was forced.

Saything that, I must say that I really enjoyed this book. Melissa was very stubborn and hard headed when it came to listening to what Cody had said. But that is just a bonus for me, I hate when the females are whiney and weak. I mean, yeah sometimes it is understandable to be upset or distraught with the events that are happening but there is a very delicate line for me on how the female character handles the situation.

This book had plenty of details and emotions, making it an easy and fast read.

I received this book from net galley in exchange for an honest review. NSFW 18+

not bad, cute/gal-humor type tone, sexy dom alpha male/light BDSM... all good - would have given it 4 stars were it not for a SUPER dumb heroine... especially towards the end of the book. I mean, I just can't keep taking the following events seriously once someone does something extremely improbable - my brain shuts down the care and it's soso henceforth.

I am a huge paranormal fan and really like the idea of this book. This is a new to me author and I really love getting to experience fresh new plots with new authors.

It took me a while to like Melissa. One of her first comments made me wonder if I was going to like her, and it took a while but I finally was able to connect with her and I really did like who she was and respected her.

Cody was a wolf shifter and they are my favorite! He was a total alpha and I couldn't love him more if I tried. He was funny and totally dominant.

Wolf In shining armor to the rescue. I love the plot. It was sexy and fun but at the same time it sad some action to it that kept me hooked. My biggest complaint is I would to have liked to see more of the drama that surrounded the heroine. It seemed like that plot point was thrown to the back burner to the romance that bloomed.

Overall, it was a good story. Fast paced with lots of steam. I wanted more of the action and drama that Melissa's ex got her into. I felt that we don't really understand all that is going on there but I still enjoyed it. 4 stars #2OCCJD

Melisa Bell Was once again smack dab in the middle of danger and her sister and her new husband have sent Cody, the Colorado Springs Alpha to get her out. Not exactly what she was expecting, Melissa does every thing wrong possible to trigger Cody's Alpha instincts, not to mention his wolf is telling him Melissa is his mate and he needs to claim her now.

Fast moving and filled with drama and suspense. The Alpha's Promise will have you on edge to the end. Will these two alpha personalities be willing to compromise in order to take a chance on the love that is burning so bright between them? Will Cody end up being true to his Alpha Promise and have to sacrifice his life to keep Melissa safe and out of the hands of the local Mob Boss's hands?

My rating of "The Alpha's Promise - Bad Boy Shifter Romance - Alpha Doms Book 3" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Oh my goodness.. CODY 🤍🐺

The Alpha’s Promise by Renee Rose is the 3rd book in the Alpha Doms series which is complete.

Tropes:
✔️ Werewolf Shifter Romance
✔️ Bodyguard
✔️ Enemies-esque to Lovers
✔️ On KU

I liked this one so much more then the first book. CODY 🥵🥵 yes please and I found Melissa more likable then Ashley. The jealousy and tension… good lord I love that stuff. While they both try to push each other away they do a horrible job of it and end up taking it back every time.
I felt like we got more of a story from these two because there wasn’t so much going on. Just the one issue while the first book had s**t coming at them all over the place.
I’m curious if this series will continue because it does set up at least one more story. Either way I would recommend this one!!

POV: Third Person 👩🧑
🌶 starts at about 20%

✨He squeezed her welted cheeks. “Bad girls get f**ked in the a**, baby. That’s how I’m going to finish your lesson today.”✨

After one loser boyfriend too many, Melissa Bell swore she was done with bad boys, but when her ex puts her life in danger it is a buff, tattooed, dirty-talking alpha shifter who shows up to save her.
It doesn't take long for Cody to find himself wishing he'd never made an alpha's promise to protect Melissa. His inner wolf craves the beautiful human in spite of her snobbish attitude and constant sass, and when she is writhing over his knee with her bright red, well-spanked bare bottom on display it is all he can do not to mark her and mate her right then and there.

"He wanted to crush anything and everything that had ever made her cry."

Good shifter story, this focused more on the characters than the action and yet I still never really felt like I knew them very much. I liked Cody a lot at first but after awhile I began to get annoyed. He was way too preoccupied by his jerk of a father's opinion of him and it gave him a real inferiority complex that just didn't mesh with his Alpha arrogance. Fortunately he managed to get over himself by the end.

Melissa was likeable if a little too obsessed with finding a guy who wasn't her regular "type". She also clearly felt inferior to her sister. What bothered me most about her, though, is how she had almost zero common sense. I can't explain without spoilers but when you read the book you'll see what I mean.

These two had great chemistry and when they stopped making assumptions and got real with each other they were great. This is actually what saved this book. I also loved all the insights into the Shifter world they live in, something that was missing in the prior book.

The bonus epilogue really helps somewhat complete the story and closed up what I felt were a couple of loose ends. I really wish Renee would do for the epilogue what she did with The Alpha's Punishment, expand it and turn it into an actual novella with more details about the games and maybe even let us see what happens with Melissa and Ashley's discovered "family". I'd sure love to know if Jeb made that trip to Cheyenne and what happened once he did.

Dominant wolf shifter meets sassy but submissive female w some LOL scenes

This shifter PNR contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as attempted kidnapping, assault, fighting some to the death, dominant alpha male and submissive but sassy female, consensual / non consensual acts and elements of BDSM (restraints, spanking for punishment / pleasure, etc.).

While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters.

There are a few grammatical errors but I didn’t have any issues interpreting the author’s intent. The storyline is strong and the characters well defined. I think the story is well written and I was able to immerse myself easily, which might surprise some considering my next comments.

The reason for the lower rating was the interactions between the main characters and how they handled things. The miscommunications between Cody and Melissa, as well as the arguments (what was said was harsh at times), were frustrating for me. Maybe it is because I couldn’t imagine saying some of that to someone I don’t like, much less someone I am falling in love with.

I can’t really provide anymore detail without giving away spoilers, so I will stop here.

I love wolf shifter books; even so, this one was beyond fascinating and captivating. Melissa is ready to move on from a recent traumatic experience (we're given enough details here for this story, but the full story is told in her sister's book, Alpha's Hunger) but before she can move out of the house she shared with her ex, both their lives are threatened. Melissa's new brother-in-law calls the local wolf pack's alpha and asks him to rescue her. Cody is up for the challenge of protecting her, but is he up for the challenge of spending so much time with her without claiming her as his mate? She is, after all, a human, and he has vowed never to consider mating with a human.

Lots of attitude, rebellion, submission, and secrets ensue as Cody tries to keep her safe - from the bad guys as well as from himself - and Melissa tries to resist her attraction to yet another guy who is obviously so wrong for her. The love scenes are among the steamiest I've ever read, and they are extremely well done as an integral part of the story rather than just to fill the pages. The punishment scenes are filled with emotional impact for both Cody and Melissa, and as such they enhance the love scenes considerably. Renee Rose is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite authors. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

OMG! Such a GREAT read! A CLASSIC paranormal romance with suspense and sensuous STEAM!
I am SOOOOOOooooo in love with author Renee Rose’s The Alpha Dom’s Series! I know these are old for most paranormal romance fans since “THE ALPHA’S PROMISE” was released in 2016, but this was the first read for me today using Kindle Unlimited. What readers need to understand is this: Renee Rose is a masterful writer who repeatedly shows her skill of granting just enough information to keep the suspense tension level high, the chemistry or sexual tension screaming, and the intimate scenes kinky. Add to that her eloquently descriptive prose, her ability to imprint AMAZING characters through the use of dual narration and situations that throw the main characters together in a way that builds an insta-trust that their initial attraction ignites, and her ability to create intriguing, twisty plots that keep readers glued to the pages until the last word is read, and readers get an inkling into what any novel by Renee Rose has in store. “THE ALPHA’S PROMISE” is no exception! It is well-written, fast-paced, and entertaining to the max! A 5+STAR MUST-READ for any who like their romances HOT, kinky and full of suspense. “THE ALPHA’S PROMISE” is a MUST-BUY for those over 18, please. Happy pages! 😉

"The Alpha's Promise" is the third book in Renee Rose's "Alpha Doms" series. This time, the story follows the twin as she finds her happily ever after. Melissa Bell has made many poor choices in her relationships, often choosing bad boys as her boyfriends. Now, she is determined to move on from the bad boys who bring her nothing but drama and heartache.

However, when her ex-boyfriend Jeremy puts her in danger because of money he owes, she is offered protection from a different kind of bad boy. Cody, the alpha of his young pack, has never met a woman like Melissa and cannot believe he is offering an alpha's promise to protect someone who seems like a spoiled princess. Although he knows he shouldn't entertain the thought of claiming her as his mate, despite his wolf urging him to do so, he cannot resist his alpha instincts when she continually disobeys him, putting her safety at risk.

Melissa isn't afraid of Cody or his sexual appetites, and soon these two will push the limits of their desires and discover a powerful love.

Amazingly well written and hot, hot, hot!

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, it's that good.

I read this book in one sitting, staying up late into the night. I just could not put it down.

The author, Renee Rose takes a blank canvas and painted this amazing world where the people around you may not be who you think they are, they may not be human, they are wolf.
The fact that our hero Cody is an Alpha wolf is pivotal however that's just the beginning of this wonderful story. The heroine Melissa is in danger. Cody begrudgingly gives her help. Initially neither of them are happy to be in each other's company. But there is this incredible draw they can't fight. With wonderful dialogue and a well developed plot we see the characters growing, learning more about themselves and each other, the intensity of their feelings and their need for each other, sexual and emotional. The reader gets all of that along with some seriously hot action, and I do mean HOT!

I have a great love for PNR; this book in my option was a really good read. I really like stories that show the best of people, also “don’t judge a book by its cover” lesson we should all remember. Melissa Bell is a bright woman with an even brighter future, so why can’t she find herself a normal guy, one that’s not a loser like her ex? When Melissa’s no good for nothing ex puts her life in danger, Melissa’s brother-in-law sends her help. Even though she swore off bad boys, she finds herself under the protection of a dirty talking, tattooed, sexy alpha shifter. I loved the banter Cody and Melissa have with each other and the closeness they developed in a short amount of time. If you like PNR with a sassy woman and sexy Alpha then this is a great read for you.

Although the story was entertaining, it had a lot of the same elements as other Renee Rose books, so I didn't find a lot of originality. It needed someone to do a better proofreading job. Her books usually have inconsequential words missing from sentences (like a, the, of, etc.) and this book is no exception. That didn't bother me as much as blunders like Melissa complaining that Cody had no coffee in the house and then on the next page she ends up accidentally spilling her cup of coffee. Or the incident in which Cody leaves Melissa's blouse and bra on her when they have sex and then as soon as they're done, he puts her in the shower and starts rubbing her back. Did Rose forget that her character was still wearing a blouse? There was also a sentence in which Colleen was talking but the sentence then said that she looked at Colleen when the author obviously meant that she (Colleen) looked at Melissa. Lastly, stop using God's name and then the F word together. I absolutely hate that.

DNF.

She falls for her kidnapper (previous book, I think) who is a bad guy. She is rescued by her brother-in-law's friend when a diff bad guy wants to use her to pay off her ex's debts (or something like that). Hero is dressed like a biker or mechanic. I forget. She, who has bad taste in men, judge him based on his looks thinking he's not so great. And then, when her sister tells her to just follow the guy's orders because he's alpha and that's the way it is, she says no. The guy is a stranger who helps her as a favor to someone else. She OWES him. He got her out of a bad situation. And she's like that?!

This all happened in the first few pages. I couldn't take her attitude. She's an extremely selfish and judgmental person. I'd rather not waste my precious reading time on someone that will make me pull out my hair.

After her ex-boyfriend gets her into some serious trouble, Melissa Bell finds herself being tired of bad boys and guys who seem to have no future and no plans. So when Cody shows up looking sexy and ready to save the day... she can't help but feel like he is like all of the rest of the sexy bad boys of the world and is up to no good.

Cody got the call that Melissa needed help and made a promise...an Alpha's promise, that he would keep her safe.

The real question is can Cody convince Melissa that he could be the best bad boy she's ever had or will her past ruin things before it can even get started? Read and find out!

I voluntarily read this advanced review copy of this book

Overall this book was pretty good it was action packed and super hot. Melissa got on my nerves at times with all of her judgements and assumptions but Cody was man enough to show her that everything not what it appears to be.

This is Ashley's twin's story. Melissa finds herself in trouble when her ex, Jeremy, has some bad men come after him. Unfortunately, she is to living in the same house as she gets her money together to get her own place. This means she is also in the cross hairs of the PO'd drug dealer. Ben and Ashley are on their honeymoon, but Ben has some connections. Enter Cody Steele, alpha of a small pack in Colorado Springs and historic home renevator. He doesn't know Ben, but it will pay off to have the alpha owe him a favor so he agrees to help. Little does he know he is about to meet his mate - his mostly human mate.

These two butt heads from the beginning, but it is only because they both refuse to admit that they belong together. She is a submissive and he is very much a Dom.
