Maggie Lee’s done a lot of questionable things that have made her question her own sanity. Chaperoning her niece’s class trip is one of them.
Not only must she attempt to corral a bunch of energetic kids, but at the same time she has to argue with the talking lizard in her bra, avoid a mysterious doppelganger, and chase down runaway horses!
And that’s just the beginning.
With her relationships and alliances in flux, Maggie is uncertain of what her next steps should be. Caught between the family drama caused by the return of her sister, Darlene, and her own efforts to save an innocent boy, Maggie struggles to make the right decisions and protect lives that hang in the balance.
Can Maggie navigate these latest landmines, or will relationships, or even a life, be lost?
Wow. Another fun installment of the Neurotic Hitwoman series. Definitely 5-stars. Although it did make me sad in places. Which, I guess, holds true for the series. The books are all fun, but sometimes there’s a bit of heartache in there, too. Maggie is awesome, as always. The critters are great. The family is as nuts as it ever was – if not more so. Her friends are quirky but good people. And Maggie, as usual, saves the day in her own unique way. I love this series.
I loved this book as I do all the Hitwoman books. Poor Maggie can't catch a break. She volunteers to go on a class trip with Katie and winds up saving a wealthy child's life and seeing a guy who looks like her father. Darlene is back which causes Maggie a lot of conflicting feelings. Should Katie live with Darlene after all Maggie has done for her? A big question in the book. Also, what will become of her relationship with Angel? Her pets are there, always loyal, and her most trusted confidantes. Mike the bird is key in this book. I loved it and enjoyed the crazy ride of Maggie Lee and her family and await eagerly the next book!
I swear this series is so good the books always finish way to quick I only just started it and now it's over again another awesome Maggie Lee adventure finished and oh what an adventure it was, runaway horses, saving kids, school excursions, the planetarium oh and Angel we can't forget Angel......... (sigh)
So I really think by the end of that book Maggie's life may have become a little less complicated whether its for the best or not only time will tell but I am excited by the up coming road trip with Armani and Maggie's first date with Angel also Maggie taking a step back from her lovingly crazy family wouldn't be a bad thing either, I can't wait for more.
Best. One. Yet. I'm sure I say that with each one, but this definitely is the best! So much going on with Maggie and her family. Lots (& lots) of laughs and some tears. J.B. Lynn has hit the mark again! I'm totally hooked on this series and need more! Oh yea, TEAM ANGEL all the way!
Loved this book! This is a wonderful series that follows Maggie, our slightly neurotic hitwoman, as she struggles to take care of her niece after a horrible accident that left the nieces parents dead.
This novel picks up with Maggie chaperoning a school field trip with Katie (her niece) and generally feeling like a failure. Then she sees something very dangerous and jumps in to help, while also struggling to keep her charges safe. What follows is a very entertaining novel with a very real story interspersed with plenty of humor....everything from talking animals to Maggie's murder mentor showing up at odd times. Add in a mafia don with a soft spot and this book has it all.
One thing I've really enjoyed about this series is seeing how Maggie has progressed and grown through the series. This book in particular shows Maggie experiencing real growth and selflessness.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. While it is a stand alone novel, you really owe it to yourself to read them all.
JB Lynn, you are keeping me sane. This series is literally (sometimes) the only thing standing between me and the rubber Ramada. Each book in the series becomes my new favorite, and I’m torn between spacing them out, so a new one is always there when I need it, and just devouring them, back to back, because what if I get hit by a bus next week? Someone talented should option this series for tv. And then find a way to bring Alan Rickman back from the dead so he can play the role he was born to play: God, the lizard. (Fuck you, cancer.)
So many things missing. Missing sanity, missing wills, miss siblings and that's just a Monday for Maggie. Katie is going to live with Darlene. Is that really what is best? Who knows? Is Ian the lost brother or a looming threat?
There is always so,etching going on with Maggie. I feel sorry for the people involved with her family. However I think they are hilarious because of their personality and interactions. I can’t wait to see what happens to them.
Maybe more like 3-1/2 stars, rounded up. As always, a fun break from more serious reading, but #16 in this series seemed a bit light on plot and unfocused. Still fun, though!
I've enjoyed watching Maggie muddle through her life and acting like Dr Doolittle. Each book builds on the last leaving me begging for more. There are still many secrets to uncover, so bring on #17!
JB Lynn's popular series continues with more family drama, sexual tensions, funny animals, and just plain fun. Who knew being a chaperone on a class trip could be so exciting? It certainly wasn't like any trip I ever chaperoned! But life with Maggie isn't like anything else. It is a constant struggle to do the best she can in every situation and not ever feel like what she has done is enough. She tries to fix everyone's problems as an avoidance to "fixing" herself at times.
Although this book is murder-free, it wasn't for the lack of trying. Maggie rescues a boy while on the field trip, and some how as a thank you from the family, gets roped into protecting him at a function a few nights later. For the second time she saves him, without appreciation from the family as far as I could tell. Meanwhile in her personal life, her sister is back after years of being missing. Katie's manny, Angel, leaves to go to his family and help Dominick as he is finally released from the hospital. She also discovers her father has a twin brother, and there is another sibling out there... All these changes and more!
As always, Ms Lynn has provided many laughs (thank you Godzilla), unusual companions (the pets) and a friend who really does have physic powers. Together they balance the wacky family life and drama. Put together, you have a great book that will give you a few hours escape into a life full of love for family, mystery, and mayhem. Who could ask for more? (Well, the next book in the series would be nice...)

JB Lynn knows just how to reel her readers in. Maggie Lee is one tough cookie but her cookie is always on brink on crumbling. She supposed to chaperone her nieces field trip but like everything with Maggie it's never that simple. On the edge of your seat most of the time when you read one of these books you never know where the author is going. There is simply nothing obvious about the plot. You can't see the twists and turns coming until they hit you. Keeping you guessing should be her tag line. Exciting and fun from beginning to end you are left waiting for the next books as soon as you read the last word. Amazing!

I love Maggie. She seems to find trouble but then avoids it. Just when things seem darkest with her niece Katie, a silver lining appears. Her missing sister Darlene returns and moves in next door to the B&B. Everyone is stunned by her return and Maggie must pretend that she didn't already know about it. Along the way, Angel, the manny for Katie tells Maggie that he must quit and go home to help care for his cousin, Dominic, who is coming home from the hospital. If you recall, this is how Maggie got involved with the Delveccio family and Patrick, her red headed mentor. anyway, the story continues with Maggie saving a little boy's life while on a school outing with Katie's school and then evolves into a seance where she is expected to 'do the right thing.' The storyline is hopeful even though some sad things do occur. Maggie meets a missing family member, her mom is lucid and hugs Maggie but Maggie can't bring herself to ask the question she wants the answer to, is there a brother. Of course, we don't find out the answer in this book but there is a road trip with Armani in the future and anything can happen with Armani. Stay tuned. believe me I will. I love the writing style of the very talented Ms. Lynn so am eagerly awaiting the next book. In the meantime maybe we'll see another Pet Matchmaker book.
This is a great book; this is the sixteenth book in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series written by JB Lynn. Maggie is a very lucky hitwoman thank goodness or she wouldn’t have a job. She also gets some help from her pets who she can understand and talk to. Maggie Lee has agreed to chaperone her niece’s field trip. While there she sees a man who looks just like her father and ends up saving the life of a child who was on buggy with runaway horses. With her relationships and alliances in flux, Maggie is uncertain of what her next steps should be. Caught between the family drama caused by the return of her sister, Darlene, and her own efforts to save an innocent boy, Maggie struggles to make the right decisions and protect lives that hang in the balance. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.
More questions are answered and the family is turned into an uproar. Long thought dead it's a shocker for everyone but Zeke and Maggie when Darlene returns and moves in next door. Trying to keep the peace, Maggie is pulled in all directions. An outing at Katie's school turns her into a hero and leads to a security job with Patrick. Armani is pushing for a seance and Angel is putting the moves on her while trying to keep Zeke away. Major changes in the household with Angel and Katie have Maggie on edge and a bombshell from Armani about previous family has Mags searching for another family piece of the puzzle and growing more mature in her decision making.
The Hitwoman Plays Chaperone by J.B. Lynn was another fun and quirky ride with Maggie Lee. There are a lot of laughs but there are some deep emotional moments in this one, too. Maggie is all over the place, as usual, trying to cope with her family drama now that Darlene is back. Maggie also saves a little boy's life and then does her best to protect him.
A fast paced plot, plenty of action, a horse stampede and emotional growth as Maggie solves another mystery with a little help from friends and her animals.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Pissed. Read all 16 in less than a week. Good, fun, easy reads. Some personalities I could have done without but I was enjoying the ride. Then WHAMMO!!... The End!?!? WTF! 16 books and no real ending and sounds like she is through with series otherwise why The End?!? Dang you J.B. Lyn!! So our lady has no guy, no real job, dumping off a niece (like it didn't matter), and going on an unknown road Trip!?! No! Just No! I won't read any more of your books. You don't know romance. You barely know flirting. Ugh!!!!

JB Lynn's best book yet! There were some really funny parts (can we say ride cowboy ride?). However, as funny as this book was, it's best enjoyed if you start at the beginning of the series because it can be hard to tell the players without a scorecard. My only criticism is that I really would like to see Maggie get more of a spine. That said, I appreciate this series because it's hard to find really funny mysteries & every book should have at least one light moment.
I am really amazed at the twists and turns in Maggie's life. The directions of her life & family change so quickly, easily and interestingly that I can't wait for the next installment. I'm unsure of where her love life will end up but it's headed in an awe inspiring direction. Writing a review without spoilers is difficult for me because I want to tell it all! So the best I can do is say this series has not failed to get better with each twist. Buy the book...
I always know that I'm in for a quick, fun read when I pick up one of the Hitwoman books. This one was really cute - it had a kid in an astronaut suit how could it not be cute? It was also a bit bittersweet at the end. I wonder if Maggie will ever get to be a real estate agent. Read my full review at Girl Who Reads
Poor Maggie! Nothing in her life is easy. This time around there seem to be more questions than answers making this book a little more intense than some of the past ones. There are definitely a lot of changes now & in the future for our Maggie. This series keeps getting better & better!
These stories just get better and better. JB Lynn writes a great who-done-it. But, the best part of this series is how the main character is growing and changing over time. Some story threads are coming to conclusion while new threads are being revealed. Where will the story lead next? Can't wait to find out.
