this is an amazing continuation of the first book. I loved reading the character development between the charachers Kirito and Leafa continue and the setting and story are greatly thought out and designed. 100% recommend reading all of the Sword Art Online books.
This book is rated Teen so before giving to a much younger viewer you might want to look through it real quick to make sure your little reader is ready for some of the scenes of violence within this volume. With that said I have been really enjoying this series so far and if you have already seen the end of the first season of the anime you are not going to be really surprised by what you read in this book since they both follow the same light novel and character designs.
Picking up after the first volume Kirito and Leafa are trapped by a team of Salamander players who are sent to stop them. We get to see Kirito's resolve developed in a game where you died in real life if you died in the game. It has given him a mean determination to always protect those he is with no matter what and you will get to see that determination at play as he fights against incredible odds.
With new information in hand Kirito and Leafa make their way to a secret meeting point to stop a major pvping (that's player Vs Player for those not in the know) operation as the Salamanders' try to cause conflict between two of the other races and gain new riches in the same step. Only the reckless and heroic Kirito seems to be able to save the day as this wild card pulls out all the stops.
Meanwhile Asuna makes an attempt to escape now that the opportunity has presented itself so she can get away from the despicable man who is supposedly her fiance. We get to see some of the inner workings of the madman's scheme all while she does her best to escape. The end of this book will make you want to read volume three right away so be prepared. :)
My favorite part of the book would have to be when both guild leaders try to "convince" Kirito to work with them after showing off his skills. The reactions are fun. :)
Solid part two, can't wait to finish up this arc in the SAO story. I will always be a fan of the Alfheim stuff and wish it would've continued for another season (in the anime of course).
As always, I love the artwork in this volume, by this artist. Although, sometimes I feel like she might have been one of those mangaka who got their start doing hentai... But I only think that from a few things in her art style that sort of indicate the same style as hentai. But I could be wrong, oh well. What she's doing now seems decently pure and really enjoyable and suitable for kids. Although, the ALO arc is a lot more political than I remember it being in the anime, then again I suppose my eyes always sort of glazed over any time I tried watching the ALO arc, so I don't really remember much from it. I do, however, remember Kirito's little short lived harem, and now I know why way back then some of the fans in the community got a little mad at Kirito for allowing those girls to make him feel that way. Honestly, I'm really undecided about my stance or opinion on that, and I think it's better left that way as to not to dwell on those types of things for too long right now. This manga is supposed to cheer me up, after all. But, um... Yeah. A lot of political stuff. It was interesting, at least, and the art was really pretty, so I give it a four star rating because of that. Kirito is badass. Definitely badass.
Well, I preferred the first volume. Here there are too many political intrigues and I kind of got lost.
In addition, I'm not a bit fan of fighting scenes: they confuse my brain with too many lines and strokes. I want to know about Azusa and Kirito and how he can save her... The rest - the fighting, the game... - I'm not that into it.
Some improvement in the series, mostly through focusing more on the game and plot and having less emphasis on how the girl characters are just sooo sexy (though still featuring one butt-and-boobs pose that made me wince in sympathetic pain).
Debo decir que me encanta Sugohu/leafa! Tan sentimental, profunda y fuerte. Una hermana que muchos querrían tener... A excepción de la inesperada sorpresas de saber que está enamorada de ti 😅

Kirito shows off the skills that made him Aincrad’s strongest player and quickly establishes himself as a force to be reckoned with in ALO. The manga’s fanservice tone also continues with every female character falling for Kirito. There are some somber moments of reflection and Asuna’s coma to provide character angst, but the ease with which Kirito maneuvers through ALfheim definitely makes Fairy Dance less intense than Aincrad.
The Review
Kirito starts off the journey to ALfheim to rescue Asuna, but along the way, he ends up being hero to Leafa and two entire Elven races. There’s plenty of action to be had with the conclusion of Volume 001′s bridge battle and a skyhigh duel with ALfheim’s strongest player. However, some movements are difficult to follow, and Haduki-sensei occasionally shows two simultaneous angles in the same panel, which can be confusing.
While ALfheim is not Aincrad, echoes of that other world show up in Kirito’s illusion magic monster and his dual-sword skill. Aincrad’s imprint on Kirito also shows up in other ways. During a real-world scene that wasn’t included in the anime, Kirito reflects on how his actual self seems more like a persona while Kirito the swordsman feels like his true self. Also, his real-life priority is finding and freeing Asuna from the grip of her nefarious fiancé, but the Salamander crisis causes him to detour from that goal as if actual lives were at stake.
Meanwhile, Fairy Dance’s harem quality continues full-steam. As the manga progresses, Leafa seems less one of the “Great Five Sylphs” and more a starstruck Kirito fangirl. At the conclusion of the Kirito/Eugene duel, the heads of the Sylphs and Cait Siths (both female) start pressing their bodies against Kirito, and Leafa barges in to break it up. Fortunately, the female cast regains some dignity when Asuna takes the initiative to escape her cage. She may be the damsel in distress, but at least she’s showing the spunk that made her the vice commander of her guild in SAO.
Extras include the title page printed in color, background guide blurbs, a short afterword manga, and closing remarks from the creators.
This book was fantastic, so was the rest of the series(first book 'Sword Art Online: Aincrad'.) I recommend this book to any one that likes, manga, action, fantasy, gaming, etc.
Kirito realizes his love Asuna nevercame back to the real world from SAO. He heard there was another game called Ailfem Onine. Kirito also was shown a picture that looked like Asuna's figure and ecided to get a look for himself. He logs in and makes his way to the 'world tree' where Asuna's figure was found. He meets a girl along the way named Leafa, and she helps him along the way to get to his destination. Will Kirito find his beloved or was this all a scam? Read yourself to find out!
I read this manga while watching the anime, and while I really enjoyed the manga, the anime was better. And I learned that that manga is three times removed from the original. Usually manga gets translated to anime. This story was odd, it started as a light novel then was adapted as an anime, once the anime became popular it was adapted as a manga. The illustrator for Fairy Dance also wasn't the same illustrator that worked on the original arc, Aincrad. All that being said the manga didn't really stand up to the anime, but it was very good.
There were some parts that were rushed in the manga, I think I would have been confused by them if I hadn't seen the anime. I think it would have been better if they ignored the anime (except for the character design) and based the manga off of the light novel. They tried to copy what was done on the screen and some parts just didn't fit right in manga form.
I was a bit frustrated that SAO finished so quickly, that everything seems to happen so fast and leave us in the end without concrete answers. So I was more than happy to find Fairy Dance, that give us a follow up without being repetitive! It's well thought, creative and delightful! Only the "sister in love" underlying is amnoying and creepy, something I really don't get! But well after loving Game of thrones we would have to be hypocrites to skip an amazing story just for subtext like that, there was worse! So read it!
Can anybody share their thoughts on just WHY the Japanese (and most of the pr0n-loving public at large) love to play with FAKE INCEST because of the frequency of those magic words "but we're not related by blood" and variations like it? I am baffled & perplexed, but at the same time there seems to be a huge market for it and I am wondering when did the shift happen? How did it gain traction? And while this isn't the book that started it (I'm pretty sure at least), the fact this franchise is one of the prime archetypes for the isekai genre, I'm sure it didn't hurt the "cause."
Great pacing in this volume. I think a first time reader (who hasn't seen the anime) would be able to enjoy this. Kirito-kun is my favorite no matter the format, it was fun getting to see his philosophy from Leafa-chan's point-of-view.
This book is plain amazing, i've seen all the volumes animated . How the story's matches up with the previous one. I don't know how to explain this but you should read this. Also i highly suggest that you watch the anime also
This continues the story of Kirito, Asuna, and Suguha. I am sooooooo addicted to this. I've even found and watched the anime. I still plan to find the original novels if I can. Hopefully they have been translated from Japanese as well.
