Playing with Fire

Rate this book
“You know what I do to dirty girls...”

Madilyn - Catching Dad's best friend, Jack, naked in our hall should have been a shock, but it only added fuel to the fire I had for him. Now he's free, I'm free and he's here at my parents' silver anniversary party, looking as hot as the fires he fights. I know Dad won't like it but how can I resist the scorching heat between me and my fireman crush? I just hope I don't get burned.

Jack - You might say I'm playing with fire when I take my best friend's daughter to my room and my bed, but it turns out to be the kind of raging inferno between us that you want to last a lifetime. When her Dad finds out, he'll be mad as all hell fire at me. I have to have her, but how can I fight him for her when I owe him my life?

This is a standalone novella set in a rural English town, with a happy ever after and satisfaction of the dirtiest kind guaranteed -- the kind of wet and wild romance you need to read with spare panties and fire extinguisher on hand. Enjoy!

Madilyn was telling her friend, Carrie, that she was home for good. Her boyfriend got a little too friendly with another woman, and she walked out on him. She was heading out for her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary party and would see Carrie there.

Madilyn had always had a crush on her dad’s friend, Jack. Sure enough, she saw him across the room and had an immediate reaction. Jack, too, was startled to see Madilyn was all grown up!

Jack had been offered a firefighter job locally and decided to move back home, especially hearing Madilyn was home as well and UN-engaged! They danced together and he suggested they go outside. Madilyn said she would join him; but as she walked up behind him, he was having what sounded like an intimate conversation on his phone and saying he had booked a room here at the hotel and wouldn’t be coming home! Madilyn returned to the party, hurt and upset that he apparently had someone else all along. Hadn’t it been real to him? How could he just toss it all away?

This was a good book that I definitely recommend. It’s a fast read and keeps you wondering where everything will end up. It’s all about friendship and caring. A very good read! I was given a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. My comments reflect my honest opinion.

Playing with Fire is the seductive book of Jack and Madilyn. In this book Madilyn has falling into lust with Jack her father’s best friend and co-worker at the local firehouse. The book is filled with hot scenes, lusty references, fun banter, and amazing writing. I love all of Mia’s works and they just keep getting better. This book has a great plot in which the reader is drawn into the romance and feels like they are a participant in the action (I might have fanned myself a few times; just saying). I enjoyed the characters as they were well developed and strong adults who understood what they were getting into and the responsibility and consequences of their actions. The secondary characters only added to the plot and the development of the story. My favorite quote was “the man has a body to launch a thousand lust attacks.” There were no spelling or grammar errors, no warning or triggers to worry about; and there was a prologue (it was fun and hot), 21 chapters, and a great epilogue. This is an enjoyable book that is completely lovable, with great characters and great writing. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review. A Romantic Mini Break Book.

She doesn't regret the breakup because her fiance was a jerk but she feels a little lost. At the party she sees Jack again, an old friend of her parents who she has always had the hots for. He is surprised to realize it is his friend's daughter Madelyn who he let get away when she was younger. He is ready to chase her now. Madilyn and Jack have a not night together and want to continue the relationship but her parents find out and forbid the relationship. Jack tries to respect his friends feelings but his feelings for Madilyn are just too strong. Somehow he needs to be with her no matter what his friend thinks.

Old Firefighter Friend of Dad's

This couple is good together but have to spend a lot of the story, apart. Maybe because of this plot, the steam seems more muted than most of Madison's other stories? Conflict resolution is expected, but handled clunkily.

3 1/2 STARS ! I have really liked all of Mia Madison's books so far but this one was just okay fine for me and I'm not really sure why. I guess I found it to be pretty boring compared to her other books and I put it down a few times and struggled to pick it back up and finally finish it. I hope this isn't an omen to her future books cause that would really stink but I will continue to read her stuff and give it the benefit of the doubt. Madilyn is about 22 or 23 (it's not actually stated) she just moved back home to England with her parents after breaking up with her fiancé, Duncan. She met Duncan her sophomore year of college, they fell in love, moved in together in Scotland and then he proposed. She soon realized he was not the one for her and she quit her job as an intern for his uncle's company and moved back home. At her parent's 25th wedding anniversary party she sees her Dad's friend, Jack who she has had a crush on for years. Jack and her Dad are both firemen and when Jack first started on the job her Dad saved his life. Can he really betray the man he owes his life to by sleeping with his daughter ?

Another great, quick, super sexy read from Mia Madison, featuring an older man and a younger woman.

Madilyn has just finished college, has just been dumped and is back home trying to figure out what to do with her life next, when she runs into her Dad’s long time best friend Jack, at her parents’ silver anniversary party. Sparks ignite between Madilyn and Jack on the dance floor at the celebration and soon there's no turning back.

Although he’s nearly twice her age, she’s always had a crush on Jack. As a child he’d show special concern for her and would comfort her when she was being teased and bullied at school. Gorgeous, kind and a firefighter, she’s always seen him as a white knight hero.

Jack is divorced and throughout the years has been going through a steady stream of casual girlfriends, but has never settled down again. His reply as to why he hasn’t met the right girl yet? He teasingly has always said that he is just waiting for Madilyn to grow up.

Turns out his teasing was closer to reality than she could have ever dreamed!

Fun, steamy quick read! HEA guaranteed!

Madilyn and Jack have known each other for nearly 20 years and Jack has basically seen Madilyn grow up. They get reacquainted once she graduated college at her parent's silver anniversary party. They haven't seen each other in a @3 years. In that time, Madilyn has grown into a beautiful woman. Jack happens to be her father's best friend. This story and was told very well. The happy couple hook up for the evening and intend it to be the beginning of a fantastic relationship. Her father has other ideas. His actions didn't surprise me, but the respect both Jack and Madilyn exhibited made my heart happy. The rating reflects the fact that I didn't feel personally invested in either main character or their attraction. I was unable to connect with either them or their lust/love. While the story was good, there wasn't nearly enough character development - or relationship development for that matter.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book for a voluntary, completely honest, and non-incentivized review.

Madilyn grew up with Jack as one of her father's friends whom was always around. After his divorce Jack had a string of women in and out of his life, but a chance re-meeting at Madilyn's parent's anniversary party strikes a flame that neither can deny. Throughout the night they try to be sneaky when they are giving into their lust and attraction, but Madilyn's mom has noticed the looks and warns Madilyn to be careful. Jack is determined that it will be more than a one-night stand and admits that he loves her, but they hit a road block in the form of her father whom can't get over the fact that it's his friend and someone older. When an accident happens will her father finally realize that they really love each other or will he continue to try to separate them?

Love Mia Madison's books with the older man/younger woman. This book was great and had what I love to read when looking for this type of book: older alpha male, willing to risk his life, and real true love between the two. In my opinion this was a great story for anyone who loves books with those three items!

I voluntarily read this book ass an ARC!
Great book!
Jack should be off limits to Madilyn, however she has always had an attraction to him. He is her father's best friend and co-worker at the firehouse. Madilyn is fresh out of college and had her heart broken. She comes home to get her life together and figure out her future. At her parents anniversary party she dances with Jack and that is all she wrote. The attraction and sparks are too much to ignore. Jack has always paid special attention to her, even as a child but this is different then just a dads best friend looking out for his daughter. He has always joked that he couldn't find the right girl cause he was waiting for Madilyn to grow up. He did marry but it didn't work out, so he is divorced. Turns out what seemed like fun banter is more true than anyone could of thought.
Love this book! Love the way he cares for her!

Playing With Fire is about Madilyn and Jack.

Jack is Madilyn's father's best friend (both are firefighters). One night, Madilyn literally runs into Jack in the hallway of her family's home and he ends up dropping his towel. We know from this encounter that Madilyn has had a crush on Jack for years and Jack is certainly turned on by Madilyn...

Four years later, they run into each other again at Madilyn's parents' 25-year anniversary party. Their pull to each other is undeniable and they can't fight their feelings any longer. They have a very hot night together and neither wants it to end. But what are her parents (especially her father) going to think about their relationship?

This was a hot novella and I don't give spoilers, so that's as much of the story as I'll give here. Get your copy and find out what happens with Madilyn and Jack!

Ohmigod--Mia Madison knows her way around younger woman older man relationships! Playing with Fire is a masterfully written story of a much younger woman (Madilyn) falling head over heels in love with her father's best friend, Jack.

The pair had always had a "loving" relationship--but not "that" kind of relationship. It wasn't until Madilyn had graduated from college, broken off her engagement to a cheating fiancé, and she'd come home for her parents' 25th wedding anniversary did she and Jack connect on an adult level.

Jack and Madilyn together are magic. Their story is truly beautiful. You need to read it for yourself--and experience their love!

This book is scorching hot! There is something hot about an older more experienced man. I totally related with this book. When I was a teenager, I had the biggest crush on one of my parent's good friend. No I never saw him naked, no I didn't fall in love with him, and no he didn't sweep me of my feet. But I understand the appeal of an older man.

Jack was smoking hot, and Madilyn were perfect together, the chemistry between them was sizzling hot! I'm a huge fan of Mia Madison's book, and I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

Mia Madison is the queen of taboo type relationship books. This is the older man, who happens to be the younger woman's father's best friend. What could possibly go wrong OR right with this setup?

Jack is Madilynn's father's best friend, but also a firefighter. Jack has been the interest of some of Madilynn's fantasy and this next time is an opportunity that cannot be passed by, regardless of the consequences.

Jack and Madilyn have a few years in age difference but that doesn't stop them love is love . The only thing that I would say against this book is I thought the story line went a little to fast they could have some filler in between other than that it was a good book that I had the pleasures of reading .

Great sexy little novella. I love the chemistry between Jack and Madilyn. I actually respected them more for not doing anything anymore to respect the dad after he found out. Until the end, when the whole family is there. Awe. I voluntarily received an advanced reader copy of this book.

Daddy's Best Friend

Great story by Mia Madison. Love reading her books, they're so well written, with lovable, sexy characters and very enjoyable storylines.

What is it about the forbidden that makes them all the more irresistible? How do you resist the hottest, sexiest man you've ever seen, especially when you've had an intense crush on him almost forever and now you are legal and old enough do something about it? Do you let it stop you that that sexy, irresistible man is your father's best friend and that Daddy would never approve? Heck No!!!
