The Night of the Christmas Letter Getters is here… It’s the most magical time of the year again. The snow is falling, the evenings are drawing in, the secret Post Office is open for business and the Christmas Letter Getters are out in force. Among them is Finley Stark, a small elf with big problems. He doesn’t know it yet, but there’s sinister forces at play. Soon Finley finds himself being chased through the snowy Yuletide streets of a strange old city, pursued by trolls with dark, fiendish plans. And candy in the oddest flavors… The Night of the Christmas Letter Getters by Eldritch Black is a darkly whimsical tale of Elves, Trolls and festive frights.
It is approaching Christmas and the trolls, elves, and letter carriers are working to make it a great holiday with a great ending. I would recommend this novella author to 👍 readers looking for holiday novels 👍🔰. 2023 😀👒🏡🎅🎁
"And so we will, my dear." Ingledurm began to pace, his long pointed shoes slid across the icy ground, taking him perilously close to the rapidly freezing river. "Yes, we shall have our heart's desires. I've been a-plotting and a-planning and I tell you - we are on the cusp of a fortune! Riches without hitches, igloos of gold, and far more candy than our bellies can hold!" "How so?"
"How so?" Ingledurm held up a finger and caught another snowflake. "I have a plan. The grandest plan there ever was! Oh and it's a wicked one, mark my words. But the fruit it will bear will be the tastiest we've ever known." He laughed, his vile breath melting the snowflake. It ran like tears down his stubby finger. "Just you wait!"
Tiny golden rectangles sailed among the clouds. Each one contained a Christmas letter written by a child, the contents sealed away within the magical envelopes that carried it. Tiny filaments glittered and trailed behind them as they flew through the air like little golden phoenixes. They soared up towards the glimmering stars, before diving down to the post boxes secreted away among the city's streets.
This was a short Christmas story and a companion to Eldritch Black's Krampus and The Thief of Christmas. I enjoyed it a little less than the main novel but it was still fun to read.
The Night of the Christmas Letter Getters by Eldritch Black is a tell of of getting all the Christmas letter gathered but the carriers most are sick from a party. The story includes trolls, fiendish plans, elves, and a main hero. The story was not very exciting and I think it was suppose to be a humorous story of adults but I couldn't really tell. I was not humorous, I don't think any age would find many of it funny but some of it was clever. It was good, just not great. The cover is real cute.
This was my first encounter with this author, and I muat say that it was a pleasure to read one of hos many books.
The story follows up the journey and also adventure of an elf, named Finley. He works at the Elves Post Office and this year has a bery big surprise for him, as they all have to go out and gather the Christmas letters cbildren are writing for Santa.
At first he is a little bit, okay, a bit more, nervous and scared that he may not be able to accomplish this small task he is given.
On his way, he is attacked by two trolls, which escaped The Dark Lands, whom will do anything to get their hands on the special letters.
His journey is bound to make you smile, be afraid ( for Finley, of course) and learn a very valuable lesson.
As I said in the beginning, I was not dissatisfied or disappointed by it. And I will most certainly read more books by him.
I went into this thinking that there was some kind of horror element to it so I was disappointed to realise it was basically a kids Christmas story.
Finley, the laziest and dumbest elf has somehow been given a job of helping to get the kids Christmas letters collected for Santa. After constantly trying to dodge working, Finley has to be promoted to letter-getter when the trusted postal elves all become sick. He becomes the target of trolls who have their own ideas about what to do with the kids letters to line their own pocket.
Finley annoyed me because he was quite useless and somewhat pointless. The plot itself was ok if you like fluffy Christmas stories with HEA but it wasn't really my kind of thing.
This book was okay but not as good as I was hoping for. It’s very similar to Krampus and the Thief of Christmas. I must admit I almost gave it a two star rating but guess I’m feeling generous because it’s almost Christmas. It’s not a book I will read again nor highly recommend.
Another entertaining Christmas story from Eldritch Black. I love his original, imaginative stories full of magic and just the right amount of horror. I don’t usually like elves, but I really felt for Finlay in this story. The troll candy sounded truly revolting.
Not bad, but not great either. For the most part you can see what's going to happen before it happens. That said, the second one sounds fairly interesting...
A Christmas story about a postal elf who goes "postal" when he runs into a couple of trolls who use their magic and food to undermine Christmas. Geared towards middle schoolers, it is an ok story. Unfortunately, the character just didn't pull me into the story. This is another freebie on Amazon at the moment.
This is a cute Christmasy tale about an Postal elf and some trolls from Krampusland. This would be a perfect read for middle schoolers. Also, it's free to buy for your kindle on Amazon. Yay! <3
This was an interesting Christmas story kind of on the dark side. Nothing religious about it. Father Christmas was the term that was used. I never thought about trolls in regard to a holiday before. Overall, I did enjoy the story and might read the next book.
