A very short story from five-time LEFTY Award Finalist for Best Humorous Mystery
To Detective Shelly Reynolds, autumn means trees bursting with bright color and the local apple farm bakeries bursting with delectable pastries. Not to mention her favorite treat of all – fresh caramel apples. But after viewing the sticky remains of the caramel-coated corpse of Hans Alder, the owner of Happy Apple Farm, Shelly isn’t sure she’ll ever eat a caramel apple again. Enjoy this short story which takes place in the California Gold Country as a team of detectives works to discover a cunning killer.

This was a very quick read. It was free, so cannot beat that. It would help if the reader has already read some books in the series. The book has virtually no character development, so it is assumed you are already familiar with the characters. Nice, quick diversion if you are reading during a lunch break or waiting on a doctor appointment.
I didn't care much for this book. It is so short that it doesn't give you much time to get excited and try to figure out the murderer. It doesn't really have closure. It just kinda leaves you hanging. I love all of the books by Cindy Sample that I have read, but this one doesn't seem to be one of her books.
This was a great, short cozy mystery. It takes place at an apple farm during the peak of harvest season. Plenty of sweets and a dead body. Good detective work. I recommend this book especially if you have a wait time. You can read it very quickly.
Novella with Detective Shelley Reynolds investigating a murder at Happy Apple Farm where the owner was murdered and smothered with caramel. Well written and wrapped up in a few chapters. Very enjoyable although this could have been stretched out into a proper book. Clever detecting, recommended!
Would like to see more challenging characters, more descriptions describing the details of the location. Describe the type of day it is, what about the smells of the orchard?
This is a quick one sitting read. It has the feel of fall and a the cozy mystery was entertaining. I so want to be a red hat lady! The description makes me want to visit this apple farm. Good reading.
It's a busy time of year and this little mystery helps step up your reading game. No need to get stuck in heavy mystery when you can sink your teeth into this fun who done it
Cindy Sample never fails to entertain readers with action packed stories and plenty of plot twists. This one is fun and F R E E but too dang short. Can't wait for Cindy's next.
The Case of the Caramelized Corpse was a pure delight, charming, entertaining, and well-written. My hope is Cindy Sample will consider writing more short stories in the future. She has the talent!
