I am such a fan of K. Bromberg and as much as I will always love the Driven Series, I think I love it a little bit when this author ventures out of her comfort zone. Sweet Cheeks was a phenomenal romance that showed another side of this author's ability and I am in so much love right now.

Saylor never expected to be invited to her own wedding, but yep – by the looks of the invitation and the location, that is just what she is looking at. Except for one minor detail, the brides name. With just weeks to go till her walk down the aisle, Saylor knew she had to call it off. She never expected Mitch, her ex, to find someone to replace her so quickly – or invite her to their wedding.

After walking away, her sole focus has been on making Sweet Cheeks a success. When she realizes that her bakery might be being snubbed due to her leaving the groom, the RSVP accidently getting sent in might just be a blessing. She just never expected her first love to return to town after leaving her without a goodbye ten years ago. But when life hands you lemons, you drink vodka and bake cupcakes!

Hayes Whitley isn’t new to acting, hell he’s spent the last ten years becoming the hottest Hollywood star. But he isn’t quite acting when it comes to the need to show everyone on the island that Saylor belongs to him. But can a love between two kids that ended abruptly ten years ago really be rekindled now?

K. Bromberg delivers big time with Sweet Cheeks! It didn’t take long for Hayes to work his way into my heart. These two had great banter and I loved the twitter and hashtag war. It was so unique and made this story stand out so much more. And although this had a lot of humor, it still carried an emotional punch. With a second chance romance, you really need to feel that feeling of loss, you know? I was rooting for these two from the very start. I loved that Hayes had regrets but he wasn’t just falling all over himself apologizing and that Saylor, although not quick to let it all go, did really give him a fair chance at returning to her life.

A smart, humorous and swoony-sweet romance that is definitely a change of pace from the Driven novels, but can certainly hold its own.

"Sometimes things happen in life and love's put on hold. But if someone's your soul mate, nothing is going to stop you from being together in the end."

 photo 777A1F1D-34BA-436D-9FF1-AE3FBBA45733_zpsaxpiqamh.jpg

Saylor Rodgers is a 27 yr. old beautiful, newly single woman living in Santa Barbara, California. She owns Sweet Cheeks CupCakery & spends the majority of her time baking & trying to keep her business afloat. After about seven years together she called off her engagement with her fiancé around seven months ago. She's stunned when she receives a wedding invitation from him to his new wedding. Saylor can't believe he's moved on so fast. When her assistant mails back her reply with a plus one by accident, Saylor is suddenly in a bind. Does she attend the wedding & find a date, or cancel? Wanting to prove to her ex she's confident & happy she considers attending. This could also be a chance to save her business & gain some redemption.

 photo 8DA52CD4-1E39-4875-A5AC-02FEFA983CA3_zpsg028dody.jpg

Saylor is speechless when a man she hasn't seen in over ten years shows up in town. This gorgeous man is Hayes Whitley. Hayes was Saylor's high school sweetheart. They grew up together & fell in love as teenagers. He was her everything until he left her when she was 17. He left for Los Angeles & never returned. He broke her heart & crushed her. Now he's a famous, Hollywood actor who has it all.

Hayes Whitley has one regret in life, & it's leaving Saylor behind. He had a once-in-a-lifetime shot & he took it. Decided to chase his dreams & leave the girl who was his world without saying goodbye. When he gets a call from his best friend, Saylor's brother Ryder asking for a favor, he can't say no. He still feels guilty about how he treated Saylor & wants to make amends. What he doesn't count on is all those old feelings rushing back the moment he lays eyes on her again. They share such a history & all those emotions come flooding back.

 photo E935B2E0-D012-4647-878C-321A7C9CD262_zpscywu7l1m.jpg

Seeing Hayes again brought back all her memories, & Saylor needs him to remain in her past. She's still hurt & angry, and seeing him just brings back feelings of rejection. She doesn't need a reminder of what she lost all those years ago. He was her first love & her soul mate. Now he's in her town offering to help her & being all charming. She needs to keep her emotions in check & never let him near her heart again.

This is easier said than done as Saylor & Hayes spend time together all their old feelings resurface. They reconnect & both want more. Can Saylor forgive Hayes & learn to trust him again, & can they make things work when they live such different lives?

I loved this book so much! It was an easy five stars for me. Hayes is super sexy & totally swoony. This book is a second chance love story & a brother's best friend romance. Two of my favorite kinds. It was fabulous & I highly recommend it!

-Trying to forget her is like trying to remember someone I've never met. It's impossible.

-Even at the age of seventeen, Hayes could kiss in a way that made me feel like I'd just laid every part of my soul on the line when his lips left mine.

-I want. And need. And crave everything about him.

-"I've never been able to resist you. Not then. Not now." Not ever.

-My. God. She. Owns. Me.

But we all know books are fiction. The romance in novels is a crock of shit. Sometimes the hero still leaves in the end. And the heroine is once again left to pick up the pieces.

It's been hours since I finished this book because just any other K. Bromberg fan you know the drill. When the book is in your hands, you cannot wait until you finished it, you cannot wait until you have devoured it from start to finish and you cannot wait until your eyes got sore because you realize it's already in the wee hours and you still have work the next day. And boy did I devour it not minding I have other responsibilities. I just wanted to get lost in the moment and escape reality with K. Bromberg's book with me.In short, I just can't contain my excitement. For over the years, I have been rooting for her Driven series. I am one of those readers dreaming and fantasizing her characters and reliving the scenes. Because why wouldn't I? Kristy just had a way with words and knowing another book is about to come out, Man I am so giddy and I cannot sleep because I wanted the book so bad. When I realized it's a second chance love story, I am a goner. This is my weakness. It is my kryptonite and there's no way in hell I will make a pass for it. Because in truest form, you can never go wrong with second chance love story.

And here's the dilemma now, in as much as I am so over the clouds about the book, I really do not know how to write the review. I am in the state of really loving the book but couldn't form coherent thoughts to showcase it because the book itself is exemplary, the book itself is already showcased and you do not need any spoilers to read it and showcase it. It is all in the book and is just handed into you the moment you get your hands on it. So, it's a given then, I wont spoil you. Maybe just glimpses here and there. ;)

But first let me just ask you,Have you ever read a book you were so turned on like panty melting, knickers soaking tuned on and at the same time tears is streaming down your face?

My God! *Sigh

I experienced it with Sweet Cheeks. I really cannot believe it at first but seriously though it's legit. The book really did that to me. I was so engrossed along the pages of this story and then boom I was so confused over turned on and crying but hell I just did both! Besides the swoony moments and witty banters of the fantastic leads that had me really captivated that thought really is hands down on my mind the moment I finished the book. Aside from that is the strong chemistry of the characters. I have loved every moment of learning and going along with their journey. They're one of the best leads I have the pleasure of meeting. I love the character portrayals and once again I was in awe with the author's ability to sell those characters because damn I am so in love with them. The glimpses of them as teenagers and that after ten years after. The heroine's feisty and adorable side and of course the hero's alpha male sexiness add up with a strong determination and relentlessness and I became his's.

“My pace, Saylor. Not yours. I’m in control now. You may own pieces of me you never even knew, but right now, I’m going to own you. Every single part of you.”

That one week of being together not caring anything else just them was really one of the best scenes of this book.I was really swooning all over and I cannot help myself from smiling over cheesy lines my jaw hurts. My heart leaped with giddiness and utter bliss the moment issues were being resolved and that's how good the book is. You'll be in so much of emotions yet you are satisfied with the outcome.

Because yes, the book is really a satisfying second chance love story. Every interaction is PERFECTION. The angst and the tension was built up so good that you feel like you're in the edge. The flutters in your stomach because of the heartwarming feels. But more than that is what really is behind the story. For Hayes and Saylor, their journey is a true definition of second chances of love. When we're young we are so hell bent on the love we felt on our first love that the moment one walked away without any explanations leaving us confused on where we went wrong, we are so down and would really faced different phases just to forget the pain. Ahh yes young love. In it's truest passion, it is one of the most sweetest love of all but often times when not handled well often causes destruction and so much pain. For both of them, the years lost and wasted was never an easy feat but watching them reconnect and make up for the lost years is just absolutely beautiful. For Saylor, it's between forgiving and forgetting the past and focusing on what Hayes is ready to give and to finally accept everything. For Hayes. it's his relentlessness and determination to fight for someone you love which is just beautifully portrayed not with too much angst but with something that builds up your anticipation and made you smile all throughout then leave you with heart warming feels. In the end,it was a sweet journey. Indeed, with love you can never go wrong right? Because it's true, “....sometimes things happen in life and love’s put on hold. But if someone’s your soul mate, nothing is going to stop you from being together in the end.”
But then again, hasn’t it always been there? Because love is like magic. You can question it— how it happens, when it will happen, why it bowls you over when it does happen, and how you existed before it happened—but you might never get the answer. Sometimes you just have to believe in it and its process.

I declare Sweet Cheeks consumed me and owned me. It's so beautiful and brilliantly written. Now go read the book and feel the love. And when you're finish reading the it, you will never look at cupcakes the same way again. Trust me when I say, cupcakes now held so much meaning. And don't ever forget in love,
“Words are cheap.Actions prove everything.”

People who are meant to be together find their way back. They may take a few detours, but they’re never lost.

There is something special about second-chance love that speaks to the soul. Soulmates whose love has never died are granted a do-over…another chance. Their hearts, cut in half from being apart, find their way back to each other and become whole again. Second-chance love stories are my obsession…my heart…my soul. K. Bromberg’s latest sensation, a second-chance romance called Sweet Cheeks, was my heart...my soul...my kryptonite. Sweet Cheeks is a hypnotic and heartfelt second-chance love story anchored in angst and submerged in soul and swoon.

Oh how excited I was to meet this fresh start, this chance for K. Bromberg to wow devoted Driven series fans like me with something new and so incredibly different! With bated breath in anticipation of uncovering the unknown, I dove into Sweet Cheeks, barely surfacing for air until the end. I was quickly captivated…consumed…claimed as Sweet Cheeks stamped its imprint all over me. I WAS ALL IN.

This story sparked to life as magic poured from the pages, Sweet Cheeks shining in beauty and brilliance like a sunset on the beach. Not even ten percent in and this tender tale touched me deeply. My feels were flowing over the pages as Sweet Cheeks clutched my heart, hijacking it, willing it to bend and break. I FELT ALL THE FEELS.

A teenage love story that was supposed to last forever abruptly ended, leaving two broken hearts along the way, perhaps three if you count mine.

“Told me he’d stay forever. And left without ever saying a word.”

Hayes Whitley was Saylor’s brother’s best friend and her first love, the love that was supposed never die. Hayes killed it…them…when he abruptly left without a word and never looked back.

“He became my first crush.”
“Then later my first love.”
“And later again my first heartbreak.”

My heart broke. Tears fell for this love story with so many lost years. I hated Hayes…I loved Hayes. Now a Hollywood heartthrob and mega-star, Hayes is back after 10 years as a favor to her brother in an unusual situation as Saylor’s escort to her ex-fiancé’s wedding, and Saylor’s world has been turned upside down. Saylor is not the only one affected after ten years apart; Hayes is still haunted by Saylor too.

“She looks back at me and gives me a full-fledged smile—heavy topic overshadowed by nostalgia—and f**k if it doesn’t make me think thoughts about that wild child of a girl who owned my heart.”

I loved this smart, sexy, beautiful, fierce, and feisty heroine, Saylor, as much as Hayes. Now they are thrust together after ten long years apart. One long weekend on an island alone. No interruptions. So much promise...so many possibilities await.

Time to rehash the past and slay those demons.

“He’s left his fingerprint on me, marking me with invisible ink. And being here is like stepping under a black light. Every single one of those scars becomes visible, brought to light so I can’t ignore them anymore. Forcing me to face them once and for all.”

Time to see if that forever passion still burns.

“I want him to kiss me. Just once. Even at the age of seventeen, Hayes could kiss in a way that made me feel like I’d just laid every part of my soul on the line when his lips left mine.”

Time to see if that passion permeates into more.

I rooted for that kiss…that pent-up passion to erupt. That kiss was a fusion of happiness, hope, and heartbreak after so many years apart.

“I sigh in relief. Then gasp out of shock. Because Haye’s lips are on mine…all I want to do is drown in his kiss. In the familiarity of it. In the difference of it. The unexpectedness of it. The comfort of it. In everything about him.”

The tall, dark-haired and dark-eyed muscular prince and his blonde and blue-eyed long-legged princess were magical together. That kiss melted from the pages, penetrating that passion right to me as I felt it too. As soon as Saylor and Hayes collided, my emotions were on edge…amplified.

“Now I know why I’ve always compared every woman I’ve ever kissed to you.”

I swooned and never stopped swooning until the end. Sweet Cheeks is swoon in spades. Words of sweetness and nostalgia kissed me where I felt butterflies dancing in my belly, a feeling of hope, happiness, and freedom fused with love.

“My pace, Saylor. Not yours. I’m in control now. You may own pieces of me you never even knew, but right now, I’m going to own you. Every single part of you.”

Oh did Hayes POSSESS ME!!! Oh how this amazing alpha made me swoon and smolder. This man is pure perfection. I was owned by Hayes. I was owned by Sweet Cheeks.

“…Sometimes things happen in life and love’s put on hold. But if someone’s your soul mate, nothing is going to stop you from being together in the end.”

My heart flip flopped at the possibility of childhood sweethearts reconnecting after ten long years. Sweet Cheeks meshed with my favorite movie, Sweet Home Alabama, both playing together in my head.

“Because it’s only ever been him.”

I cried tears of heartbreak, happiness, and hope. Tremors of tenderness yet trepidation surged through my body as I wanted this second chance too. These two halves of hearts needed to be whole… one. This knight could not...would not...ride off into the sunset again and leave his damsel in distress...PLEASE NO! So I hoped. I prayed. I desperately rooted for love. Love that had to survive time and turmoil.

When you begin and end a story in tears, you know it’s a keeper, and oh did I want to keep Sweet Cheeks longer. Sweet Cheeks slayed me, this second-chance love story stripping me bare, enrapturing me as every emotion was electrified, my heart and soul on fire. I did not prepare for this assault on my heart in this sweet and swoon-filled story with its surprise storm of sensations. I felt every word I read. I felt heartbreak. I felt happiness. I felt hope. I FELT EVERYTHING. ALL OF THE HEART. ALL OF THE SOUL.

K. Bromberg aced her new sensation, Sweet Cheeks, this sweet, swoon-filled, and soul-searing second-chance romance. Different but still slightly familiar…comfortable yet thrilling...yet still HOME. This story felt wonderful! Words wondrous and a book both brilliant and beautiful...pure perfection like the rest of Bromberg's writing. Sweet Cheeks left me breathless in a book that was sheer brilliance from beginning to end. Sweet Cheeks BLEW ME AWAY!!!

“The truth is I gave my heart away a long time ago, my whole heart, and never got it back.” ~Sweet Home Alabama

I gave my heart to Sweet Cheeks where it still remains, likely bound to this story forever. I gave my soul to this story—as if I had a choice—for it to be sucked in like a breath of ocean air, pulling me under, where I could not help but FALL FAST IN LOVE. Oh did I LOVE Sweet Cheeks! Sweet Cheeks, this emotionally-charged story of epic love hit my heart hard and sent my soul swooning off in the sunset. I still haven’t stopped swooning as I can still smell the love in the ocean air.

It's always scary when an author you love branches off into something new. For K. Bromberg, everyone knows her DRIVEN series is phenomenal, so when the announcement came out that she was doing a standalone, unrelated to her ever so popular series, I'm sure there was trepidation on both sides (author and reader). I'm here to tell you that you can feel worried all you want, but there is absolutely NO NEED. Ms. Bromberg not only knocked it out of the park with this one, but this could easily be one of my all time favorites of hers! Saylor and Hayes were just PURE MAGIC together! I fell in love with these characters almost instantly. The plot, the characters, the undeniable romance weaved all throughout the story...nobody takes me right to my happy place, quite like K. Bromberg does.

"My pace, Saylor. Not yours. I'm in control now. You may own pieces of me you never even knew, but right now, I'm going to own you. Every single part of you."

A second chance love story about never giving up hope...SWEET CHEEKS just took me there, you know? It took me to a place where nothing else exists but the beautiful words that this author pulls together. It took me to a place where more and more butterflies invade my stomach with every turn of the page. It took me to a place full of love, passion, and unprecedented chemistry. SWEET CHEEKS was charming, lovely, and an all around perfect love story for every romance reader out there. I never wanted it to end, and yet when it did, I felt so content and so giddy, you couldn't wipe the smile off of my face. I never had any doubt for this author to bring something new and fresh to the table. Bromberg fans, new and old, will fall absolutely in LOVE with SWEET CHEEKS! I can guarantee it!

➦I am definitely a sucker for the "famous celebrity falling for a regular girl" trope. This book, however, was more just because it also had the "childhood friends to lovers" which I even a bigger sucker for.

Saylor is struggling to keep her bakery afloat. It has been her dream and she is trying really hard to bring business in but a lot of people in town aren't friendly. Why? Well, because Saylor has broken off an engagement to one of the rich douchebags in town and his momma ain't happy. Biotch be talkin' smack to her country club minions.

➦Soooo... To make matters worse her ex sends her an invite to his wedding. S'cuse me, I am just gonna dig up that award I have handy just for these occasions... ok, here it is:
ta-da!
description

➦Thankfully Saylor's brother is a resourceful dude with some connections. Actually, just ONE connection. His best childhood friend is no other than Hayes Whitley - a movie super star. Hayes owes him a favor and you can guess that he will be repaying by taking Saylor to her ex fiance's wedding. Surely once all the stuck-up rich people see Saylor on the arm of a celebrity they will accept her into their circle. Right?

➦Good question. But perhaps a more important question is this: will Saylor will agree to go to the wedding in the first place? See, Saylor and Hayes have a history - as in used to be dating history and him leaving her behind to go chase his career history. Like, not contacting her or saying good-bye type of history. What? I need that award again, please.
description

➦I really enjoyed the book and I will say yet again that I will read anything K. Bromberg writes in the future. :) Her books have a good balance of humor, steam and angst. The characters were likable and well developed and by the end of the book I was a bit...

Happy tears though, people :) so it's all good! Definitely recommend :)

"Just one kiss. Sometimes that's all it takes for a heart to lose its balance. And sometimes we want nothing more than the chance to fall." -JmStorm

If you love a good second-chance romance where the guy fights for the girl rather than running away, then Sweet Cheeks is for you.

If you enjoy a book with a little mix of everything - playful, sweet, sexy, angsty, swoon worthy, smile-so-hard-your-cheeks-hurt, happiness - that leaves you all warm and fuzzy inside, then Sweet Cheeks is for you.

If you like your heroes to be an alpha but not an asshole and your heroine to be likable, feisty, and relatable, the Sweet Cheeks is for you.

If you've been in a reading slump and can't find anything to pique your interest, then Sweet Cheeks is for you.

If you want to know what flour, sugar, a granite kitchen countertop, and love rekindled has in common, then Sweet Cheeks is for you.

If you love a hero not afraid to make an ass of himself to prove how much he loves the girl, then Sweet Cheeks is definitely for you.

If you want to save me from typing out more reasons so I can go write something new, then Sweet Cheeks is definitely for you.

Hayes and Saylor: I had so much fun writing this book for you all and I hope you fall as madly in love with them and their story as I did creating it. I look forward to reading your reviews and seeing what you think about it when you finish.

(and if you'd like to follow Hayes on Twitter (it will make sense once you read) you can follow him here @HayesWhitOffcl )

I’ve been reading this author’s work since The Driven Series and she is consistently amazing. Yet, I keep wondering if someday the other shoe will fall? If she will have that one story that is just mediocre, normal and does not send readers into frenzies? Well I’m here to tell you for Kristy Bromberg that is impossible. There is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING this woman can’t write. There is NO story she can’t tell and there is NO WAY you can’t love her talent.

When Kristy writes, her words flow like the calming, tranquil waters of The Maldives. You are mesmerized by the beauty of her prose and caught up in the flow of her stories. She takes you outside of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and you find yourself wherever she chooses to go. It’s a journey you’ll never forget and you’ll never want to end.

I’ve been through so many stories with Kristy: fell in love with a race car driver (Driven Series, Aced); a man that supports his woman through the most trying time of her life (Slow Burn); a man that faces war through the click of his camera (Hard Beat); one that has gone from a boy to a man (Down Shift); a man that takes music and makes it a love affair (Sweet Ache); and each time I am amazed at her genius. But does she stop there? No, along with all the other men she has given us, she now introduces Hayes Whitley.

Sweet Cheeks…Hayes and Saylor! No one can give us the swoon worthy, alpha men with the women that can hold their own like Kristy, and she does not let us down with Sweet Cheeks. True love is hard to ignore, harder to walk away from and definitely worth the fight. She gives a whisper of drama, a tad bit of angst, a morsel of confusion, but mostly unbridled love and passion which is her specialty.

As always with Kristy home is where the heart is and with Sweet Cheeks she takes us home once again.

"There's only one love that matters more than your first love: Your last love."

Sweet Cheeks is a delectable second chance romance that makes you believe in fate. That no matter what happens, or how much time has passed, soul mates are real and true love does conquer all. This book is full of wit and charm, sprinkled with provocative chemistry and unspoken secrets, and with a dash of drama.

The relationship between Hayes and Saylor is riddled with unresolved issues. You're given bits and pieces of their past together throughout the story, and it doesn't paint Hayes in a very good light. He's hiding something, but you just don't know what. You begin to completely understand how Saylor must have felt when he just up and left, without so much as a goodbye. But as the story continues, you begin to realize the exact reasons Hayes stayed away, and that Saylor isn't the heartbroken teenager anymore. And the more time they continue to spend together, the more they realize that they're first love has become their last love, and their futures have always belonged to each other.
But how can Hayes and Saylor move forward together, like pressing play on their relationship after a 10-year pause, when their past keeps colliding with their future?...and ultimately making them wonder if a future is at all possible.

I 100% fell in love with this book! The writing was exceptional, and the story flowed seamlessly. I completely felt like the friend trapped in the middle of their tumultuous relationship...like I needed to pick whose side I was on. But I declared myself Switzerland. I loved Hayes and Saylor both equally. Sexy, captivating, devilishly handsome, with a body made for sin...Hayes is a true heartthrob. And Saylor is like a best friend you didn't have...feisty attitude, caring, driven, and compassionate. It's hard not to love either of them! And the dialogue throughout the book was hilarious and emotional, from all the characters. As for the grudge cupcakes.....brilliant!

This is my first K. Bromberg book, and now I am scolding myself as to why I haven't read her previous books yet. If they're anything like Sweet Cheeks, I'm dying to read them now! This book sizzles with desire, boils over with love, and will thoroughly melt your heart!

Unquestionable must read; 5 Stars!

Hayes Whitley twists me up like a Rubik’s cube. He did way back when and still does now. He’s changed me. Turned that naïve, solid-color blocked puzzle I once was and left me scattered all over the place. I’m a mix of emotions when it comes to him. And no matter how hard I’ve tried to get back to that solid state I was before him, I know I never will. He’s left his fingerprint on me, marking me with invisible ink.

Oh the swoons of it all! What a delicious little treat this book was, sure to satisfy every romance sweet tooth out there. Sweet Cheeks was the ultimate second chance romance fantasy. It had the swoons, the steam, the banter, the angst, the emotion, and absolutely everything else I've come to love and expect from this author. All with a sassy heroine and one of the swooniest heroes that sweet talks just as well as he dirty talks. Let's face it, K. Bromberg gives good romance.
The funny thing is most people would want to sow their wild oats. And maybe in time I will, but for now, I’m still trying to settle the ever-shifting world beneath my feet.

Who doesn't wish their high school sweet heart that's now a famous actor will come back to town to make your selfish ex and his spoiled family see that you've not only moved on but to much greener pastures at that! But that's exactly what happens when to Saylor.

Saylor was such a lovable heroine. She's sassy and independent and gives as good as she does. After leaving her fiance right before their wedding, getting an invitation to his wedding to someone else only 9 months later isn't as shocking as the fact that's it's identical to the wedding she planned. Not only that, but now she finds out that his family has been badmouthing her business that she's been pouring her blood, sweat and tears into. When the Hollywood heartthrob and her blast from the past and first love is back in town and offers to take her to the wedding, she wants nothing to do with it...or him. After all, Hayes broke her heart when he walked away without a word over ten years ago. Now he's back, a famous actor, and offering her the answer to all her problems. But can she trust herself not to fall for him all over again?
I have a plan. I have my world. My perfect, chaotic, surreal, fucking awesome world and there’s no room for error. She fits nowhere in it. That’s what I told myself when I left. That’s what I’m standing by now.

Hayes was amazing. God but I adored him. I loved the chemistry and that sweet burn of unfulfilled sexual tension between them. It burned so good. Hayes was not your typical cocky alphahole. This was a man that gave a good measure of swoons right after he made your ovaries thump.
My pace, Saylor. Not yours. I’m in control now. You may own pieces of me you never even knew, but right now, I’m going to own you. Every single part of you.”

This was such a sweet romance, with the perfect amount of steam, endearing characters and a lovely romance that you can't help but root for. I adored it. The perfect sweet treat to spend a weeknight with. Just you, a glass of wine and a side of Hayes. Yum!

The way I see it, sometimes things happen in life and love’s put on hold. But if someone’s your soul mate, nothing is going to stop you from being together in the end.

Full disclosure here, my history with K. Bromberg's books is a bit of a mixed bag. I've loved some, I've struggled through some, there's a few I've yet to even read. So I had no real expectations going into Sweet Cheeks. I was just hoping for something fun, something sexy, something light. I was even prepared for something a little cliché. I wasn't expecting to fall head over heels in love with a baker and a movie star and their second chance love story. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so freaking much. I wasn't expecting to love it. It is light, it is fun, it is unbelievably sexy. It's also heartfelt and angsty and it's exactly what I needed in this moment. Truth be told, Sweet Cheeks is my new favorite from this author.

This story is layered in such a way that the emotional hits never stop coming. Hayes Whitley shows up in Saylor Rodger's bakery years after ditching her without a word. At the request of his best friend, Ryder, who also happens to be Saylor's older brother, Hayes arrives to fulfill one favor for the girl he once loved... escort her to the wedding of her ex-fiance, the man she almost married but who never quite lived up to the ghost of her first love. The bittersweet memories of young love and years of childhood friendship collide with heartbreak and longing to make for a second chance romance that is swoon-worthy yet painful all by itself. But the angst and raw emotion in this storyline is further complicated by the added element that Hayes is now a famous movie star and Saylor is the small town girl he left behind for the bright lights of Hollywood without so much as a goodbye. As if your first love resurfacing after ten years isn't enough to slice your heart wide open again, there's this added layer of jealousy and pain and drama made possible by the famous women in Hayes' life, the paparazzi contrived tabloid fodder popping up at every turn, and the uncertainty of where they can possibly go from here. This is a complex storyline but it's executed so perfectly, I just could not get enough.

Trying to forget her is like trying to remember someone I’ve never met. It’s impossible.

I am a HUGE fan of second chance romances but I've never really been able to pinpoint precisely why I love them so much until now. Your garden variety second chance romance evolves around two characters who find themselves reunited after years of quiet heartbreak, with so many things left unsaid, with no clear explanation as to what went wrong in the first place. And once they've reunited, there's often this line they try to avoid crossing, this unspoken struggle over whether they're going to start something again, or if they're really just there for closure, for one final goodbye. It. Hurts. So. Good. That's why second chance romances are my crack. Sweet Cheeks is no exception. There's this huge element of uncertainty in this story because Hayes isn't returning to rekindle a long lost love with his childhood sweetheart. He's here to support an old friend and to explain all the things he never did before heading back to his life of glitz and Hollywood glamour. Saylor's heartbreak and anger conflict with her feelings of joy and her memories of their old friendship to make this reunion a deliciously rocky one. K. Bromberg perfectly illustrated EXACTLY why I love this storyline so much. It's that struggle, that uncertainty, that addictive mix of joy and hope juxtaposed with a sad, frustrating sense of closure that just drives me mad... And I love every brutal moment.

I simply adored this book. Sweet Cheeks is the perfect blend of sweet and sexy, of angst and longing, of humor and heartbreak. The push and pull, the uncertainty, the drawing out of every exquisite moment... Bromberg just delivered everything I enjoy in a good romance. I loved these characters. I loved their banter. I loved how much it hurt, how good it felt. And I loved the way Bromberg paced this story, peppering the pain with memories of young love, of friendship, of tree houses and first kisses, of cupcakes and sheer romanticism. It's exactly what a second chance romance was meant to be and I. JUST. LOVED. IT.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Three years ago K. Bromberg released her first novel called Driven. I was one of the lucky bloggers that received a review copy of this book. It was amazing. What does that have to do with Sweet Cheeks? Absolutely nothing. Which is what you need to remember if you're a Bromberg fan.

I am over the moon about this love story. Hayes and Saylor are amazing characters. He's a hot shot gorgeous movie star and she's a small town baker. They grew up together...dated...then poof he was gone. Forever a broken heart Saylor eventually moved on.

When she received an invite to the wedding she had planned for herself and her ex-fiance's wedding her brother suggested she go. Just to show she's over her ex and show the small town high society she can stand on her own.

In between movie wrap up and press junket Hayes has the time to take Saylor to her ex's wedding as her plus one. What better way to redeem himself right? Except - he didn't count how he would feel spending time with Saylor...let alone the kiss.

Oh my gosh y'all. Talk about swoon worthy! It nearly melted my kindle. I know I felt all gooey inside just reading it. I'm here to tell you - Mrs. Bromberg brought her #AGame to this story.

So then...the media swarm. Seriously - I think it would be insane being a "commoner" and dating a Hollywood Insider. No joke that has to be a tsunami. This is where you'll want to kick some major butt and bless their hearts.

By the way - I think I'd like to try a #GrudgeCake just to say I have.

K. Bromberg has been one of my favorite authors since she gave us the hot amazing gift of Colton Donavan. Many of us know about her Driven series but now she has come up with a new standalone romance featuring new characters and let me tell you, she has done a terrific job! She has delivered a new swoony super-sexy hero that I am pretty sure you all will fall in love with!

Sweet Cheeks is the story of two people who fell in love when they were younger, the hero left a heartbroken heroine behind and now, ten years later, they reunite. These are Saylor Rodgers (a woman dedicated to her work, especially after breaking up a 6-year relationship, and who now has to make a decision when a wedding invitation from her ex-fiancé arrives at her cupcakery) and Hayes Whitley (the man who left her to pursue his Hollywood dreams, that now is back to help her with said situation and everything gets complicated when both discover they still have feelings for each other).

...Saylor…
…the seventeen-year-old girl I left behind…
…sweet smiles, soft lips, my teenage world…
…the only regret I’ve ever had…

I love Kristy’s writing and how she develops stories and characters that give you all the feels. Say and Hayes were not an exception. Since they had a beautiful but sad past together, this fact made the book even more interesting. Both characters are afraid of what they still feel for each other when they reunite ten years later. But we all know what happens when feelings are mixed with off-the-charts chemistry right?

I hate him and love him, want him and don’t want him.

“My pace, Saylor. Not yours. I’m in control now. You may own pieces of me you never even knew, but right now, I’m going to own you. Every single part of you.”

Hayes is damn HOT, am I right? And leaving aside the sentiments the couple has towards what happened in the past, the explosive reaction between them is inevitable! Of course, the sexual tension and the sex scenes are totally worth mentioning! If you know any other hero by K. Bromberg, you know she is good at that too ;) And when all this chemistry is mixed with sad, funny and adorable moments, who is able to resist falling in love?

“I know you, Saylor Rodgers. Everything about you. And what I missed during those ten years without you, I want to spend time learning.”

I love second chance romances that keep a smile on your face and Sweet Cheeks was just right up my alley! You don’t even know how much I enjoyed this story and how much I ADORED the last chapters (#10Days was just so funny and swoony!) and the epilogue. It was PERFECTION. I loved Every.Single.Word. This book is definitely one of my favorites this year!

Get ready for my mad A-game @SweetChks. Do you have a Band-Aid? I scraped my knee falling for you. #10Days #GrudgeCupcake #Determined

Therefore, my rating for Sweet Cheeks is a much deserved 5 STARS because I cannot repeat enough times how this was a fantastic second chance romance! I really enjoyed the plot, the characters and the love story. So, you love K. Bromberg and her stories? You have to read this, you will not regret it. I highly recommend it!

And the cover whore strikes again! Once I saw this cover there was no way that I wasn't going to read this book. And I'm glad that I did because it was an enjoyable story. Hayes and Saylor were so cute together and I found their story sugary sweet.

As much as I enjoyed seeing Hayes and Saylor together I wish we heard more of their past. I felt like it was brought up enough to intrigue me but not enough to satisfy that intrigue. And since their romance moves so slow it kind of lost me at times and I was left wishing for a deeper connection between the two.

This is my first K. Bromberg - crazy I know! - but it certainly won't be my last. Even with the issues I had with the pace of the romance, I still really liked the writing and the characters. Overall, an enjoyable story that I will recommend and I mean, look at the cover. Wouldn't you pick up this book?

SQUEEEZZZ! I just finished the most romantic, beautiful love story and I'm a freaking mess ... crying my eyes out with happy tears. This might just be my new favorite book of K. Bromberg. Sweet Cheeks is just that - the sweetest kind of second chance romance that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. Saylor and Hayes’s love story is all too consuming, sweet, heartfelt, romantic --- I'm in love.

Saylor and Hayes were childhood friends. Saylor went from the annoying little girl around Hayes and her brother to a beautiful, irresistible teenager Hayes could not resist. Saylor handed her whole heart and innocence away to Hayes and he stomped on it. My heart ache for her so badly. Hayes just left after high school without a trace. His reasons are complicated – one you have to read and find out for yourself – otherwise spoilers will ruin your reading experience.

Fast forward, 10 years later. Saylor is newly single having called off her wedding to a rich handsome man with an equally wealthy family. Her reasons are also multi-faceted. Saylor is happy following her dream of owning a bakery, Sweet Cheeks. Six months after her failed engagement, Saylor receives an invitation from her ex-fiancé inviting her to his wedding. What was a sensible girl to do? She answered Yes with a plus one. YIKES!!! What unfolds from there, you do not want to miss. That is the whole premise of the book (the time she spends with her plus one) and it was absolutely delicious. I completely fell in love with both main characters of this book. The heroine is sweet, kind, goofy, carefree, selfless, and passionate. She is a little wounded but still she is feisty and spirited. The hero? SWOONS … my new favorite book boyfriend. He made mistakes, yes, but the amount of groveling and his determination to win back a woman’s heart is enough for me to melt into a puddle -- my heart overflowed with love and admiration. I can’t say enough about Hayes – he is a handsome and successful super star – but underneath all that he is so gentle and loving. He is a vulnerable man who is in love with a woman. A guy longing for forgiveness and love of a childhood crush. Let’s me say he REDEEMED himself in the most charming way -- I just adore him!!!!

What do I like about this book? Beautiful cover, gorgeous writing, phenomenal characters. The love story is so unique, full of love and passion – the soulmate kind that you wish didn’t just exist in romance novels.

Sweet Cheeks is everything:
Angst – check
Passion – check
Humor – check
Emotional – check
Romance – check

PS: Saylor and Hayes takes cupcakes-making to a whole new level :)

This book is a MUST READ! It’s nothing like what K. Bromberg wrote in the past. She exhibited a very different and versatile side of her writing and I LOVED IT!!!!

This was such a sweet and delicious romantic story! You know what I feel like doing right now? Baking me some cupcakes and opening up my own shop. I loved the fact that as a reader, I felt like I was a part of everything. I was in the kitchen prepping with Saylor (she did all the work of course) making these delicious treats and having that proud moment when someone enjoys something that YOU created. And to make it even sweeter for me, this was a second chance romance that had me rooting for childhood love.

It’s been close to seven months since Saylor called off her engagement from her ex of six years. You would think that she would be in a state of self pity and a barrage of did I do the right thing, but she’s not. Her main focus is branding her cupcake shop and making it into a success she knows it can be. All of that focus temporarily goes out the window when she gets an invitation to her ex’s wedding.

So what do you do when you see the exact same wedding invitation you created? You check that box for a plus one and do a little victory dance in your head because you know there’s no way in hell you’re attending that train wreck. But when a mix up gets her response mailed and she learns some new information that affects her new business, she’s now on her way to saying yes. And what better way to be escorted by none other than Hollywood’s golden boy and long time old love?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“He became my first crush.”

“Then later my first love.”

“And later again my first heartbreak.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hayes has worked his butt off for the past ten years trying to achieve his goal of being one of the top male actors in Hollywood. For ten years he’s spent countless hours on set, been a fixture in the tabloids on his personal life, and has more money than he could ever dream of. Not bad for a kid who’s childhood wasn’t the best. But none of those things mattered to him because the one person he loved the most, the woman who became a game changer for him throughout his teenage years, isn’t around to share those things with him. And he has no one to blame but himself.

One invitation.

Two plane tickets to paradise.

Three days of utter bliss.

With some convincing on her part, Saylor agrees to attend the wedding with Hayes but make no mistake, the hurt that’s been there for the past ten years isn’t going to go away with just a few soft spoken words. Hayes has a lot of explaining and groveling to do when it comes to getting back on Saylor’s good side. Will she forgive him?

“I have a plan. I have my world. My perfect, chaotic, surreal, fucking awesome world and there’s no room for error. She fits no where in it. That’s what I told myself when I left. That’s what I’m standing by now.”

I really enjoyed this one and I loved the connection between Saylor and Hayes even though they were separated for ten years. The love was still there and that didn’t go away no matter how much distance was put between them. I certainly didn’t agree with everything and I found myself being angry when it came to the reason why the separation was enforced Inn the first place but aside from that, this was a good read.

If you’re in the mood for a decadent treat, Sweet Cheeks is definitely for you.

Saylor just kind of - accidentally/on purpose/out of anger/out of jealousy - answered her ex-fiancé's wedding invitation with a YES I'M COMING. And also with a YES, I'M BRINGING A PLUS ONE!

But there is no plus one. She's been busy with her slightly broken heart and her bakery these last 8 months of being single.

description

Now she needs to find a suitable plus one asap. And suitable in this case means: richer, more good-looking and more famous, than her ex Mitch, with his snobby rich family.

Enter: Hayes Whitley.

description

Hollywood Superstar.
Best friend of Saylor's brother Ryder.
And, yeah, almost forgot to mention....Saylor's EX!
Her first love. First everything. And also first heartbreak.
Ten years ago he just left. Just like that. Without a real goodbye. Left to make a name of himself in Hollywood. And he did. He made it.
And now he's back in town, because Saylor's idiot brother called him to come help her.

And he's still this amazingly gorgeous and sweet and cocky and adorable and funny and sexy and amazing guy he always was.

description

But of course we're still mad at him.
Plus Hayes has a life back in LA. A very complicated life.
But still, a guy never forgets his first love. The girl that got away. Or rather the girl he let get away....
But can a sweet cupcake baker be a Hollywood Star's soul mate?
The paparazzi and exes and fans have a lot to say about that....

What will happen with Saylor & Hayes?
Will there be a 2nd chance for a HEA?
READ IT TO FIND OUT ☺

All so very adorable. I just loved it!
We have so many funny and cute scenes. Sad and sentimental moments. And of course sweet and sexy moments!

I loved it.
A perfectly sweet & sexy second-chance lovestory!
Perfect locations. Perfect cast. Extremely hot cover!
Perfect Romance!

SWEET CHEEKS was such a sweet & sexy second-chance lovestory! Run to your nearest amazon to find out how Saylor & Hayes will fight for their forever-ever-after-soul-mate!

Was there something that I didn't like...maybe that it was almost a tiny bit too sweet? It's this sweet romance and we want them to end up together. But it takes a long while and not much happens.... and then finally in the last third of the book there's a bit more action ...
It doesn't make the book bad in any way, but I just wished for a bit more caboom every once in a while. ☺ But I still loved it very much and I especially loved Saylor & Hayes! ♥

3 stars,

I wasn't too impressed by this story... which surprised me considering that this author's series 'Driven'(I've only read the first three so far) had so much passion and intensity in it. I guess what it comes down to... this book had too many inconsistencies where I couldn't believe some of the actions, and I didn't feel like connection between the MCs, and I think the gap of 10 years is realistically WAY TOO LONG.

So, this story is about Hayes (H) and Saylor (h). Hayes and Saylor meet in high school, and they get together but randomly, Hayes leaves without saying goodbye to Saylor and never contacts her again. He becomes an A-List actor, with beautiful actresses on his arms always. Saylor, eventually moves on with another man, but breaks off their engagement when she sees that she is no longer herself (This isn't a part of the plot line in a long way, only summarised). The story begins with Saylor being single and opening her first cupcake shop as she always dreamed of. She gets an invitation from her ex-fiance to go to his wedding. Her brother, knowing that business is slow, gets a brilliant idea of going to the wedding and showing people she's doing find after the break up with the fiancé so she builds up her self-image and increase her customer base. Also, because she wants to spite the ex-fiancé for inviting her to begin with.

Anyways, so the reason why i didn't love this more, is that the love between the h and the H felt ordinary to me. Especially coming from the H's side. I just... missed something to make me REALLY believe in their connection.
- When her parents die, he's not there for her, he doesn't come back even though he knows about it.
"I wanted to call you when I found out, to come to the service, but I was on location in Indonesia ..." My words fade off. The excuse sounds lame. She had just lost both parents - her whole damn world and I couldn't make the time to be there? "... And I didn't know what to say to you."
- He's actually come back to town before to see his mom but never sought her out, and when she saw him she didn't say anything (and rightfully so because he's the one who left her).

Anyways, so when they do go on the holiday destination wedding, did I enjoy reading it? Yes, I really did. But they fell into each other SO QUICK. Of course they've always loved each other, so it should be easy to do. But damn, I think the heroine should've asked the hero A LOT more questions. He didn't just have hookups, he properly dated others. I would've asked about all the other women, this is NEVER brought up.

It's like they pick up where they left off and suddenly they're together. This happens I should mention, because the hero isn't doing this in the beginning to win back the heroine. Actually, this second-chance romance is different to others, because there's no grovel because the hero wants to be friends and he's doing this to help out the heroine because he feels it's the least he can do after how he left her before. Now, maybe I'm just 22 and so I'm a little more immature, but I'd still be holding out a grudge. In the beginning, yes she's snarky, but she forgives easily. She is 27.. and so maybe that's why.

There's a VERY unsatisfying short conversation they have about him leaving and all. What's also different, is that yes, the hero didn't come back thinking that he left the love of his love. In fact, it's after the first time they have sex he realises slowly he still has feelings for her. So this isn't a second chance romance where the hero comes back to get his woman back. He wants to help her cause he feels guilt for what he did. Also, I wanted to know why he never actually contacted her. Yes, he became an actor. But umm, why not do long-distance? Why not talk? At least be there for each other in the mean-while? Why not say goodbye? These questions were never answered.

I also found it weird that the heroines brother was still very friendly with the H after how much he broke his sister's heart. The brother was an amazing brother, yes, but I think it was inconsistent for his character to be friends with a guy he punched because his sister was no longer eating and being herself cause of the H. Also, the brother orchestrates that Hayes is to be Saylor's date since he's an actor and will wow all the wedding guests. Why would her over protective brother do that? If he knows their history? And he also thinks (according to the tabloids) that the H is currently dating another actress. So why would he risk hurting his sister's feelings? It was weird.

Also.... the h's ex-fiance was still in love with her when he got married. And during their conversation (h and ex) I actually felt bad for him!! She's the one who ended things with him, why does she need to spite him more? I wish he broke up with her cause I felt it was mean... That they went to the wedding and she went with Hayes who she dated before this fiancé, and the fiancé says 'it's always been him hasn't it?'. And she knows it's true. And you can see his hurt.

The hero wasn't an ass by any means, and she wasn't a pushover at all. It was all quite rational, they come together after 10 years and they try again. I think the point is the hero lost his head and forgot a about the h with the fame and everything, but once he sees her again he remembers. The H didn't realise the depth of his lingering feelings until he spends time with her.

But for me, I wanna hear that he couldn't live without the heroine and vice versa. I felt the passion a lot more from the heroines side until about 80%. I loved it after 80%. He's super romantic and awesome. He's really cute during their holiday as well :) Thus, the 3 stars... but for me, too many inconsistencies, and I lacked their connection. What I did love, is that when the h tries to run, he pursues her. He was adamant that there's NO WAY he's not gonna fight for her. That they've wasted too much time and he's gonna be there for her.

I do truly believe in the end they love each other, but it's not the OTT love I love reading about in my romance novels.

The things I'm discussing could've been overlooked if I felt the love more... so in the end these small things make it count.

Sweet Cheeks is a sexy, sweet, leave you with a huge smile on your face standalone.

Saylor has just received an invitation to her ex- fiances wedding and to rub salt in the wound all the details, down to the invitation, are a copycat to the wedding she called off. Angry and offended Saylor decides to RSVP, you know to show she has moved on, that she is better than this. That was when I knew Saylor was my girl because let’s be honest we have all had these moments of craziness.

I love genuineness in a character and felt that in Saylor immediately. I also loved how she was driven and focused on improving her life and wasn’t focused on finding a man. She was dedicated to pursuing her dreams. Saylor basically risked it all to open up Sweet Cheeks, a bakery, and now she is fighting against everything to make it a success.

So how does a sexy movie star even fit in? I’ll tell you, he wasn’t a part of the original plan, but when he arrives back in town Saylor enlist him to help save face with her ex’s family. However, this isn’t just a random movie star, it’s the love of her life that got away so all these feelings run so much deeper. Their connection immediately returns and all their old feelings are back.

I read this book pretty much in one sitting. From the very beginning, I fell in love with Saylor and wanted to know her story. Then I fell in love with Hayes and I couldn’t put the book down. Saylor and Hayes were swoon-worthy. I loved their history and how they just got each other. I loved their banter and humor and how it added so much lightness to the story. I absolutely fell in love with their second chance romance and this reader isn’t a huge fan of second chance romances, but I just felt their connection and was ready to see their story unfold.

If you are looking for a fun, sexy read jump into Sweet Cheeks.

How often do you come across a book where the heroine has been invited to her ex fiancée's wedding and the RSVP card accidentally gets sent? So of course, she then has to show up to save her pride and show that she's just as well off. Never, that's how often. Now add in that the hero who comes to Saylor's rescue to escort her is none other than Hayes, her first love and childhood sweetheart. And did I forget to mention the fact that he's an actor and Hollywood's favourite heartthrob? These two are definitely in for an interesting journey.

“You need help.”
“Says the man who demanded he be called The Captain every time the announcer summoned us to the stage despite everyone knowing you were Hayes Whitley.”
“Says the woman who sang, ‘Might as well face it you’re a dick with a glove.’” His laugh rings out again.
“And what is wrong with that? Look it up. I bet you . . . I don’t know what I bet you.” I slur my words a little bit. “But I assure you those are the correct lyrics that Robert Palmer sings.”
“No. It’s addicted to love, Ships. Addicted to love,” he enunciates while fighting back the laugh. “Not a dick with a glove.”

I'm going to start this review off a little backwards and begin with the epilogue. You know how I'd describe it in one word? PERFECTION! I loved it. It was incredibly sweet and well thought out, it was an excellent choice for the characters and made sense for the story and every motive they had throughout. Now saying this, keep in mind that I usually hate epilogues. Like, if given the chance, I'd skip them every time. But then I'd miss the few hidden gems like this one, so... I don't know. I just suck it up. But if you're anything like me, or even if you're the complete opposite, be sure to read it! This is not an epilogue to miss.

"[...] love is like magic. You can question it—how it happens, when it will happen, why it bowls you over when it does happen, and how you existed before it happened—but you might never get the answer.
Sometimes you just have to believe in it and its process."

This storyline is definitely out of the box and creative. I loved how cute and fun it could be while still packing in the emotions and making me believe the feelings of the main characters. In this case, K. Bromberg really did make me believe that absence makes the heart grow fonder.

“Hayes.” His name is a sigh of affection on my lips. “No. Shh. I’m the actor, I get to hog the stage right now.”

Considering Hayes and Saylor were not only high school sweethearts but each other's first love, you know something bad had to have happened between these two for them to just separate and lose contact for a decade. Don't worry, I won't spoil it! But with this being said, I found the little angst moments really enjoyable. Of course there's going to be tension when they see each other again. Of course there will be friction and confusion and old emotions resurfacing. But the absolute best part of this for me was that even when the entire story of what happened came out, everything was not instantly better. They didn't go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, despite what Rihanna says. It felt real. You can't just let go of 10 years worth of hurt and feelings of abandonment overnight and have everything be all hunky dory by morning. Sure, you can forgive, but it does take time to get over those feelings, which is exactly how K. writes it. This I really appreciated.

"[...] he needs to stay right where he is.
In the past.
Because by never looking back, he let me know he didn’t want anything to do with my future."

Hayes will give you EVERY trait you want in a book boyfriend. He's sweet, thoughtful, bashful, intelligent, protective and would move the sun and earth just to make Saylor smile. And throw in the ending/last quarter of the book? SWOON!!!!!!!! I swooned so damn hard for this guy it's insane. He was the freaking cutest and I loved it. Plus, I really liked how the author wrote him to still be genuine and a bit emotional. My heart swelled whenever Hayes would get shy and adorable. Seriously people, it swelled.

"The most important thing I’ve learned from your parents is this: don’t wait for the perfect time to take a chance on your dreams. And you’re my dream, Saylor.”

You know what can make a heroine awesome? When she's feisty. No wait, that's not it. When she's stubborn? Uh... No, not quite it either. How about when she can stand up for herself and won't take crap from people? When she knows what she is worth as a person and won't settle for less than that? Yes! Bingo! I really liked Saylor. Of course, at the same time she was feisty and stubborn, but she was genuine and down to earth too. She was the perfect person to ground Hayes while he in turn showed her how precious she really was.

"But we all know books are fiction.
The romance in novels is a crock of shit.
Sometimes the hero still leaves in the end.
And the heroine is once again left to pick up the pieces."

*Now I need to preface this section by saying that when I read an ARC (or most books for that matter), I'll always wait until a few days afterwards to write my review. I like to let my feelings settle because right after finishing, I'm usually quite giddy and tend to rate books higher then I normally would. So to get both my ratings and true feelings accurate for a review, I wait a little while. Moving on.*
My favourite part of this book was honestly the last 25-30%. This is where the story seemed to really pick up and it actually felt like things were happening; like these two were getting somewhere with each other, not just living in a fairytale paradise. The beginning was fun to see the characters react to seeing each over for the first time in ten years, then the teasing and hostility, but then the middle felt a bit slow. There were some cute times yes but I can't actually think back and distinguish the actual events. I can't recall what I was thinking or feeling during the middle section. But then the ending rolls around and when it whips you right in the face, I devoured it! I was busy that night and blew everything off, I sat down and read until I was done. I just couldn't stop!

“Why are you making this sound like a goodbye, Saylor?” His hands on my cheeks don’t allow me to avert my gaze from his like I want to.
“It’s not. But I don’t know if I can survive in your world, Hayes.”

This has been my first novel by K. Bromberg but I've heard so much about her Driven series, I really do need to check it out. Plus, I need these cupcakes in my life. I mean come on, grudge cupcakes - how awesome does that sound? Can I open a franchise? ;) Confused as to what a #grudgecupcake is? One click Sweet Cheeks today and find out!

"If I’m making an ass out of myself, I damn well better be getting the girl in the end."

Well I am so glad that K.Bromberg went out of her comfort zone to write such a beautiful love story that is very different from the Driven series. Child hood friends to teenage sweethearts Hayes Whitley and Saylor Rodgers are reunited after a 10 year break where Hayes left to follow his dream of becoming a movie star in L.A leaving Saylor behind without a goodbye, now he's back to help Saylor improve her cup cake business and claim back her dignity that was stolen from her by her ex but what Hayes and Saylor don't count on is finding out that their love for each other still burns hot. Loved it, great story line, lovable characters, hot sex and a beautifully written emotional story of 2 soul mates. Narrated by the wonderfully talented Andi Arndt and the delectably sexy Sebastian York.

So sad, too bad, no thanks.

Premise seemed interesting because the H deserted the h when they were 18 and in love so he could pursue his acting dreams. He never came back, and lifted every skirt whilst breaking the promises they shared. I didn't care too much for it since it was young love, and her first heartbreak, but the notion of being a slut cringed me out in the Hollywood glam world. Of course he became a superstar (!) H returns to the town when h's brother cashes in on a favour and asks H to come back to act as a date for the h to her ex-fiancés wedding which she received an invite to.

Demeaning. Asking a favour from the flake, whoring H his sister was in love with.

If someone did that to me, I'd choke them with the same hand I once fed them with. I'd be petty and indifferent until it hurts.

Looks are very sub-par to me at the moment. And the notion of a glam rich career. I really want a good character with the depth to make me understand their mistakes.

Of course I'm sure the H and h got their HEA. Just didn't care for it.

That's not to say it can't be good. It may just be. I stopped before the 40% mark.

And.... Cue balls thrown at me...
description

I normally sink my evil talons into 2nd chance romances because I am ALWAYS scavenging for an epic grovel. Unfortunately I wouldn't know if the epic grovel ever came in this book, cos I didn't finish it. But to me; it didn't smell all that grovelly anyway. It smelt like a sub-par apology, and I couldn't smell the "epic" in there.

This one had potential and I really loved the idea of it, but both MCs weren't doing it for me. I found myself skimming until suddenly; I realised I couldn't care less about what happens next, so I simply stopped reading.

The writing was quality and I'm totally in the minority on this, so I'm hoping my personal tastes doesn't dissuade anyone. Judging from other awesome reviews, I'm sure the book would have gotten better if I kept going. Would definitely recommend to fans of this author.

You know that feeling, that great feeling, when a book has all your catnip. The writing seems nice enough, it's keeping you entertained...and then it's about 200 pages too long or something?

This book is a great example of that. It was so promising at the beginning, showing so much potential, and then they have sex.

And for some reason, I lost all interest after that. Sex scenes were great, and all buried to the hilt and all. Nothing wrong there. The place where second chances go so wrong? Easy, they rely on long ago stories, feelings, and places of who the people were and DEAD stop. This book resolved the issues faced by the characters really simply, thus avoiding all delicious and development-related angst. Once again, in a second chance, I'm left with the shards of childhood stitched together with adults who still have chemistry but no actual work to show for it. When I didn't show work, I got a C-

For a better version of a wildly similar book, really--the leaving without a trace boy Dirty Dancing at Devil's Leap

I recommend that whole series. This I do not recommend.

Ahhh, is there anything sweeter than second-chance love? I think not! K. Bromberg once again delivers with this sexy-sweet, second-chance love story with all new characters. The settings, the story, the characters...I simply fell in love with Hayes and Saylor!!

The author is one of my top go-to contemporary romance authors and 'Sweet Cheeks' is a perfect example of her easy, romantic and sexy writing style.

Saylor recently called off her engagement and is shocked when she receives an invitation to her former fiancee's wedding. She is a smart, driven businesswoman who owns her own bakery. What is she to do? While not one to engage in unnecessary drama, she finds herself in an unusual "situation" after her assistant accidentally replies that she will be attending the wedding. With a guest!

She is convinced to attend the destination wedding and to bring as her "plus-1" her old love, Hayes Whitely. Oh but guess what: he is now a Hollywood superstar, having abandoned Saylor years ago without a word when he left for Hollywood. Why on earth would she even consider this crazy idea?! But Hayes is VERY convincing and off they go to the tropics. A part of Saylor does want to show off to her ex, but she realizes that she could wind up getting her heart stomped on in a big way.

Hayes may be a well-known actor, but Saylor was his true love. Can he ever make amends for what he did, and win back Sailor's trust? And love?

Even at the age of seventeen, Hayes could kiss in a way that made me feel like I'd just laid every part of my soul on the line when his lips left mine.

If you are looking for a breezy, sexy, adult romance with a strong heroine and a sweet and sexy hero who just won't give up (and who happens to be the best friend of the heroine's brother!!), then 'Sweet Cheeks' is for you!

The way I see it , sometimes things happen in life and love's put on hold. But if someone's your soulmate, nothing is going to stop you from together in the end.
