Stevie Reynolds was a buzz-worthy reality star before moving to Canaan Island to escape Los Angeles and her fame-hungry parents. But not all her demons, like her penchant for wine and bad decisions, are escapable.

Completely broke and fresh out of rehab after her DUI, Stevie gets an offer from her hotshot LA ex to star in his home renovation show with Canaan’s favorite son, Cade Cooper. Stevie returns to the reality business for Cade, who’s relying on the show to help pay for his mother’s cancer treatments.

Stevie refuses to break Cade’s sensitive heart, but she can’t keep herself from falling for his kind smile and easy laugh. When the producers push her to risk her shaky sobriety and Cade’s credibility for the sake of ratings, Stevie is ready to quit—until her ex threatens to reveal an intimate secret from her past.

If her secret is leaked, Stevie will lose everything she loves on Canaan Island, including Cade.

This book is recommended for mature readers due to some sexual content and language. Each book in the Canaan Island series can be read as a stand-alone novel.

Stevie Reynolds grew up under the scrutiny of millions on reality television. Like so many others in the spotlight, she turned to alcohol to cope. After wrapping her car around a tree, she decided to change her life by quitting television and entering rehab. She subsequently moves to Canaan Island leaving Los Angeles and everything that comes with it behind her.

Stevie never had a good support system in her life. Her parents consistently put fame and fortune over her well being. People in the industry only cared about the ratings her outlandish behavior would garner. Since moving, she has acquired a small group of friends that care nothing about her fame or money. For the first time, Stevie has people in her life that love, respect, and support her, regardless of what she can do for them. That's why when an opportunity comes along to help her friends, Cade and Hale, pay for their dying mother's medical care, she takes it......even though it will put her back in the public eye and the world of reality television.

Keepers is not my first book by this author, but it is my first of hers in this genre. I fell in love with her writing in her paranormal series, Fear University. That could have worked against me, because my expectations were high going into this, but it didn't. This book was anything but disappointing.

Stevie is a character that is hard not to love. She is ballsy, selfless, caring, fiercely loyal, and a total smart ass. You will love her sense of humor and her courageous spirit. She isn't perfect, but she doesn't pretend to be. Throughout the story, you will see her fight her demons, try to reestablish her life, become a better person, and find love; and you will root for her the whole time.

The secondary characters are just as easy to fall for. Cade, Stevie's love interest, is sweet, sexy, protective, and compassionate. His faith in her is endless and unwavering. Hale, his tattooed, smart mouthed brother, is more like Stevie than any other character. His blunt, no bullshit attitude is something anyone can respect. Kyra, Stevie's best friend, is the kind of girl you want in your corner. She is always ready to fight for Stevie, no questions asked.

One of the things I appreciated most about this book was how easy it was to immerse myself in the story. Meg Collet had a way of making me almost able to feel the balmy night air on my skin, the wind tousling my hair, or see the moonlight glittering across the ocean waves without using a ridiculous amount of words to do it. The characters are three dimensional, and I felt what they felt. I smiled when they smiled, laughed when they laughed, and even felt my throat tighten and my eyes well up a time or two.

I had such a great time reading this book. Some of the topics were heavy, but the story never felt like it. Overall, Keepers is a humorous, heartfelt contemporary with a side of romance. If that sounds like something that would appeal to you, don't hesitate to give it a try!

Once again, Meg Collett blew me away! I've read the first book, Fakers, a few months back and I liked it, I liked Kyra Averdeen and I LOVED Hale Cooper. I thought they were already up there on my Top 10 favorite book couples.

But Stevie Reynolds and Cade Cooper have nicked their spots. I thought Kyra's life was already disastrous, but Stevie's was way way more messed up. Nevertheless, it was her fighting spirit, firmer resolve and maturity that made me liked her even more than Kyra. My stuttering, passionate and gentle Cade... Well, his older brother Hale was definitely a hottie and a big man to boost, but I also fell for the younger one who was quite the opposite. Cade was like the kind of man that you would proudly present to your parents (and Hale would be the one the moms would want for themselves, LOL).

Storywise, I thought Stevie's story is darker and nastier, IMO. But she's a fighter, something that dainty and bubbly Kyra really wasn't. Her breakdown, her drunken fit, her rehab stint - these only made her stronger and admirable. I dunno why but I really liked her. Stevie's parents, on the other hand, as well as her ex-lover were the kind of people you wouldn't want to know nor get acquainted with, even if they were famous reality stars. Nah, the world is a better place without them.

For me, this book reflects the reality of life, of the choices we have to weigh in, of the pains we have to endure, of the fears we have to conquer, and the decisions that we have to make in the end. Stevie's struggles may have been messy, but it was the kind of mess that everyone of us we face everyday, whether we like it or not. There were a lot of haunting images and moments in this book that poked my heart. Moments that both terrify and mesmerize me. Truly, this has been a well written story which touches on many subjects, like family, reality, friendship and love. Meg Collett's writing is like a drug, I couldn't stop taking all her words in until I'm way up there high and crying.

This has been a heart-lurching and heavy read, but I loved it from beginning to end.

Meg Collett - I am really enjoying your books!!
Although this is the second book of a series, you don’t have to reach the books in order because each book tells its own story. This is book about life and how some people internally struggle with their issues. Stevie was down for many years dealing with sobriety. Being a reality star since young, she had to endure horrible things. She dealt with them through addiction, which really sent her life spiraling down. Stevie had a bad accident and wanted to move to Canaan Island to start over. When she decided that she no longer wanted to put her life on reality TV, her parents who were providing for her cut off her funding for her upkeep. She was determined to stand on her own. Anyone who is going through anything, this book will give you the courage to stand against anything or anyone to win your life back!

Keepers: A Canaan Island Book, Book 2 is by Meg Collett. It didn’t take long to get totally engrossed in this book. It takes off in chapter one and boils to a hard boil quickly.
Stevie Reynolds is the daughter of over-the-hill reality stars. They thought Stevie would take to that world but she just wanted out. She fled to Canaan Island and her parents purchased her an old Victorian there. Since they also provided her upkeep, she did nothing but enjoy herself. She tended to lose herself in alcohol until she became an addict. Finally, her friends intervened and got her to a rehab. Upon getting out, she was faced with having her finances pulled unless she gets Cade and Hale Cooper to agree to do a reality film, Reno Reality. Knowing the producer, Stevie is convinced something would go wrong. Does it ever!!

4 Sobriety is Difficult Stars. This is book two in Meg Collett's Canaan Island series, while you don't have to read them in order it helps to do so. Each book delves into the lives of the h who is suffering from some sort of addiction. Yet the stories aren't heavy, Ms Collett weaves the addiction into the story, but keeps it more about the individuals than the addiction.

Where do I start with this review? The book starts shortly after Fakers, the first story, ends. This one is about Kyra's bestie, Stevie, and Hale's brother, Cade. Stevie's and Cade's story began in Fakers. Stevie is haunted by her past, her childhood was spent on the set of RealTV doing various types of reality shows. Like many people in the industry, especially child stars, she became involved with drugs and alcohol. She fled that life after one particularly horrible night when she was a young adult. That's how she ended up on Canaan Island. Now that life has returned and is trying to suck her back in.

Cade is the face of Cooper Construction and the PR person. The business has hit a lull and the timing couldn't be worse. Their mother is battling cancer and they need every cent they can get. Cade has had his eye on Stevie since she first moved to Canaan Island. He made his first move right before Stevie went into rehab, he's looking for a second chance now that she's sober. However, he won't do anything to derail her sobriety. He'll do nothing but support her. When Stevie approaches Cade with the idea of doing a reality rehab of a townhouse, with her, he's all in. He doesn't realize the depth to which Stevie will go to help and protect him.

This is a story about how difficult it is to leave your past behind you and move on with your life. It's about the importance of having the support of friends and family, how your own family can let you down, and how you can still move on. It's about the importance of standing up for yourself.

Since I was over the top in love with the first in the series (Fakers) I knew I would love the second one as well. Stevie is so full of life, inspite of everything what happened and happens to her. I love her loose mouth, how she talks.. it is hilarious! I'd love to have a friend like her! I really love the writing style of the author. For me it is plain perfect.. the balance of everything: laughing, crying, sighing, just enjoying! I fell in love with Canaan Island even though I have never heard of it before!

This was such a fun read. Great summertime beach book. It was like watching a night time soap reality show. A bit corny but I gobbled up every word. It would be very appealing to YA readers as well. Great characters and lots of fun.

fun, fast paced and a great little read. A bit short and cheesy in parts. The main character was an interesting blend of fake and real within the story. I liked her quirks but I do think sometimes it was a bit over the top. I liked the dealing with real issues and a real community.

In my opinion you need to read this series in order to fully appreciate the wonderful female characters that Meg Collett delivers in the Canaan Island Series.

Stevie in Keepers was brilliant, her desire for a second chance at not only love but her life was a journey I was looking forward to. Meeting Stevie in Fakers (Canaan Island #1) which was Kyra's story well I believe Stevie still shone brightly and you just knew her story would be hard but rewarding.

This story is fast paced and centres around a TV show which provides for some drama and intense moments and Stevie knows how to work the environment from her growing up in the TV world.

Keepers gives your an action packed ending and I was on the edge of my seat wondering who would have Stevie's back, would she find love and would her friends stand by her?

Cade, well what can I say, he was a beautiful character in Fakers and he did not disappoint in Keepers and I was surprised how strong a man he really was, he definitely stepped up and was the man that Stevie needed. Their sex scenes were hot and passionate and the physical attraction between the two was really well written.

I cannot wait to see what is in store for these two and can I say I was so happy to see how Kyra and Hale were continuing on in their relationship and I did do a happy dance at the end.

Now onto book 3 which is Violet's story, we briefly met her in Fakers but she played a bigger part in Stevie's success at love in Keepers. I am simply beside myself to know all about Violet as she is an intriguing character with so much mystery, her physical secrets along with her family history on the Island. Will Cade and Hale help her to save and repair her beautiful home?

This whole series in my opinion would make an amazing TV Show including all the characters from the town and the street where Stevie and Kyra live - one can dream!

Compelling enough to finish. Easy read to get to sleep. Incredibly far-fetched about a reality show and a hot guy in love with a crazy chick.

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

Meg Collett is really refining and honing in on her contemporary romance writing skills, and this book shows it. The sex scenes still lack something to be desired, but the kisses and intimate moments stolen between Cade and Stevie are tantalizing. While I didn't hate anything in this story, the book left me wanting more. I want more moments of giggling, more of heartbreak, and more of swooning. It's the type of story that is a nice, quick read but I will forget about it once I close my Kindle. Cade is dreamy and swoony, and while you find that he struggles with living in Hale's shadow, it was inspiring to see him come into his own and truly own his character.

Stevie, like in Fakers, took some time to warm up to. She is reckless, brash, and plows forward with a lack of care and consequences; however, upon second analysis, she cares a lot on her shoulders. I think she is struggling with guilt over poor decisions and a constant fear of messing up. This follows her around like a black cloud. I will say, there were plot twists and stories I didn't expect, or see coming. The story wraps up nicely and the secondary characters that are newly introduced are endearing and silly. I can't wait for Violet's story.

☆☆☆☆ 4 STARS ☆☆☆☆

A simple love story, but yet a complicated life. Stevie Reynolds had been a reality star since she was a kid and everything she did was ran by her parents. Until she didn’t want anything to do with them. She had to grow up and learn life. Everything was hard, until she finally accepted what was going on with her and Cade. Cade wasn’t her usual type, but the grown up Stevie wanted Cade as much as she wanted her next breath. They were sweet and hot together. They were a great team, Cade loved Stevie for who she truly was. He didn’t love the reality star Stevie, he loved the real her. He wanted everything for her and nothing was gonna stop him from making it happen.

This was a simple story with very lovable characters. I loved that we also get a little bit of my favorite Hale and Kyra. those two were as sweet as ever. As for Cade and Stevie, they were very easy to love. This story is definitely all about two very unlikely people falling in love and it is as sweet as ever.

Second chance books always get me but this one was special. Stevie has led a public life full of booze, drugs and reckless behavior before she realizes it's time to sober up. It's a good thing she has good friends to see her thru especially Cade. She would do anything for her friends and finds herself in a pinch. But with a little help from her friends she just might make it out of this pickle.

I love the friends, Kyra and Hale are too cute for words. The love of brothers Cade and Hale is shown by the level of respect and protect each other. This family supports each other while also giving each other the support and accountability each of them need. Stevie will learn things about herself and we get to be apart of the emotional ride. Oh and it is emotional. Great story well written and presented. You wont be able to put it down as you laugh out loud, gasp at the expressions, awww at the sweetness and hold your breath during those times.

Prior to reading this, I would have said Fakers was hands down my favorite Meg Collett books. Now, I’m not so sure. I loved watching Stevie and Cade grow closer and more open with one another. I’m still completely in love with Hale from Fakers, but Cade for sure gave him a run for his money.

I actually really enjoyed reading about Stevie battling her alcoholism. It felt real. I felt like I was there with her, and helping her overcome the urges. I could feel when she began to crave a drink. That’s how well it’s written in.

Go read this now. It’s a wonderful book. I absolutely cannot wait for Hiders (book three) to come out!

**I received a copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review**

Meg Collet has an incredible ability as an author to tackle extremely dark issues in her writing, while still writing a book that is fun to read. I believe she does this by putting a strong emphasis on friendship and humour (a combination that can give you the strength to face anything).

I was such a fan of Fakers that I wasn't sure anything could top it,  but I actually enjoyed Keepers even more! It was so action-packed while staying true to Meg's rich and melodic writing style. Stevie was hilarious and heart-breaking, carrying so much on her shoulders while trying to hide it from everyone else. Luckily Cade could see through that and was able to help her. I really loved the evolution of these characters, they were so relatable and real. Well done!

Love this series. Meg Collette is one of those authors that just keep getting better with each book.
This second book in the Canaan Island series picks up close to where the first book left off. But these are a standalone series.
Stevie is getting her life back with her sobriety and learning what real love and friendships feel like. But her ghosts of her past just won't stay there.
This was non stop action. Lots of "oh my god" moments, edge of your seat from the very start to the very end. Stevie is my favorite kind of character damaged yet strong willed, and fierce. Cade is the ultimate hunky shy guy.
I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a great second chance, New adult romance reader.
I was given this ebook by the author for a fair and honest review.

Stevie Reynolds is known for her reality tv shows but she moves to Canaan to escape her fame hungry parents and seek rehab from alcohol and bad decisions. But it does not last long since her parents cut off her funding as she has bills to pay.

In step her ex boyfriend a hot shot producer who offers her a reality tv fix up renovation show. She is partnered with a local Cade Cooper who needs the money to pay for his mom cancer treatments.

Stevie tries hard to resist his charms but neither can help falling each other. But as things heat up between them, she is ready to sacrifice for the sake of love? Not the usual Meg Collett storyline but satisfying different.

I so love when this author puts out a new book. There is always one character that you hate beyond words and one that you cheer for, she didn't let me down. If you read Fakers, you fell in love with Stevie. Growing up in the reality TV world, Stevie had the usual downfall a lot of child actors have. After a DUI crash, she has finally learned her lesson. Now sober, she is finally getting her life in order. Until her past comes crashing back into her life, with such a force it could be one thing to make her pick up another drink. The one thing that may hold her back, Cade. Is their feelings for each other strong enough to weather this storm?

I could not wait to get this book in my hands and once I did, I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the characters especially Stevie- she's so funny, sassy and tough. There were so many scenes that made me chuckle to myself. I really enjoyed the reality show setting. I wish we could have gotten to know Cade a little better but other than that... this book was awesome. I can't wait for the next book-- I'm dying to read Violet's story!

I really love both Cade and Stevie. I like that she is a fighter and isn't overly down on herself. She picks her self up by the boot straps and keeps going. I also really love how sweet Cade is. They make such a cute and believable coupe to read.

What a fantastic story. It carries on perfectly from Fakers but this one is not from Kyra's point of view but Stevie's. She is such a character that no matter what she does you can't help but love her. Meg Collett has developed all the characters so well that I'm sure they could be real people.

Sometimes you have to hit bottom before you climb back to the top. You have to loose everything to gain more than you had before. This story is just that...the story of Stevie's journey...a journey to re-build herself, believe in herself, and believe in others...and love.
