The stains on one's soul can only be purged through pain… and blood.
With the looks of an angel, he hides the deadly demon lurking inside. The broken woman I've become knows that he’s twisted and depraved, but the darkest and most disturbing parts of me, are drawn to his deadly flame. A killer and a psychopath. A man without emotion, or a conscience. He excels at one thing - death.
When your name's on the list, it’s not the devil who’ll come for you… but far worse.
He’s come for me, and as I shiver with a desperate desire to caress his tainted soul, I wait for his sinister touch of evil.

I have finished Sins in the Night by S.H.Timmins and all I can say is 'WOW!' This is definitely my kind of book! It has everything a good book I love should have, intrigue, suspense, drama, its full of action that I read this book in two sittings. And of course, steamy sex scenes that will make you wish you were in the female lead. (I did.)
Sins in the Night is the first dark book by S.H Timmins and I read and I hope it isn't the last as I am amazed at how she can so effortlessly go from light and fluffy books like her Destination Series (Bent, Buffed, Bound.)to Sins in the Night that is rich in blood and darkness. If you haven't read the Destination Series you must they are so humorous you'll be laughing out loud. This to me shows that S.H Timmins is a truly talented author when she can write different genres of books and do them so well. Her style of writing is descriptive and eloquent with a natural flow to it. The story line is captivating as S.H.Timmins draws you in until the book is over and you'll scream 'now what?' I will definitely be keeping an eye on her career.
Sins in the Night is about.. Debbie: a woman completely on her own in life, no friends, no family. The only family member she had left was killed in front of her ....by him. Loki: a killer, who's thirst for blood consumes him, he must feed his demons but witnesses are not to be left alive. Ever. He slipped up once and he vowed never to do it again. An unfortunate situation allows them to cross paths again but this time will he allow her to survive? He let her live once after she has seen his face, but twice? No. He will play with his 'little cat's before he will dispose of her. That's his plan but plans have a habit of changing, don't they?
What I loved about Sins in the Night is the following: 1.Debbie,a female who is not fragile or a damsel in distress but a strong and independent woman who can survive all that life throws at her. I love that she doesn't crumble into a mess when she has every right to nor does she feel sorry for herself. 2.Loki's need to control and dominate to get what he wants regardless of the barriers or people involved. I love the relationship between himself and Blake. It was good to see the humorous side of Loki as well as his dark side. 3.The two different pov's worked brilliantly for me and there was evident of character development throughout the book. The two povs give us the reader such an in depth insight to what is going on in each mind. I found Loki really interesting as a character especially as he became conflicted about what he should do and his inward struggle to deal with his own emotions.Ones that have been long dead and buried. 4.This storyline will leave you constantly guessing at what Loki will do next with a few added gasping moments as well as 'wtf, did he seriously just do that?' moment that will leave you rereading the last bit, only for you to go 'yep, he really just did that' EW!
One thing I would really love is that the story of Loki and Debbie to continue.I think S.H Timmins has so much scope and depth in the story and characters that it needs to carry on. I need to find out what happened next to Debbie and Loki, I also want to hear Blake's story. Plus once you've finished you'll agree too.
This book that is steeped in my kind of darkness. Everyone had a different view of dark books. Some may think that this book is very dark, others may not think it's the darkest thing that they've read. But regardless of you think that is book is dark or not, it's one amazingly enjoyable 5 star read that you won't put down until it's over and I promise that you'll be in book funk. I was.
I'm very disappointed with this one! I picked up this book because it dealt with blood-play, knife-play, and a crazy sadistic monster... This book claims it's dark (i didn't think so) There was a few times I wanted to DNF! Started to get boring (Omg! Me, bored with a taboo topic I love) by 40% I predicted the out come... I wanted more of the edge-play, more torture and killings.. Less soap-opera! The Ending - wish we could have gotten a detailed account on the torture of you know who... My "3" stars is for "Loki!" Omg! I loved his character and loved how the author kept him sadistic to the very end and not turn him into so love sick puppy dog.
Holy mother of all things dark!! There were definitely no hearts and flowers here. I know it's scary for authors to change genres but I tell ya what, S.H. Timmins nailed the dark and twisted!! Definitely not for the faint of heart. One of the best dark books I've ever read!! I really hope she does another one in the future.
This was a dark twisted book. Debbie blames Loki for her childhood. She sees him for the monster that he is. Debbie doesn't want anything to do with him but she sees the young boy that he once was. Can she help him be normal? This was a good read that sucked me in. This was my first time reading this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. Loki is a killer he is crazy and I really liked him Debbie grew on me as the story unfolded. Debbie didn't want to love him and what he does to her body. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
When I read the blurb for this book and saw the cover I couldn’t wait to dive in. I love a good dark, twisted, crazy story and was really in the mood for one. While the storyline was interesting enough, unfortunately this book just wasn’t what I hoped it would be.
Loki is basically paid to slice and dice some rather unfortunate people who have crossed his boss at one time or another. He takes pride in his work, the more pain he can inflict and the more bloodshed, the better. He knows it’s a pretty fucked up way to deal with the demons of his past but it’s what he needs. He never makes mistakes, until one night when he is taking care of a job his boss sent him on and he lets someone see his face. He makes a decision that will later change everything.
“She was lucky I was letting her live. Turned out, that would be my undoing.”
Debbie has never had it easy in life but after one particular night when she was a young girl and witness to something horrific she basically has had to fend for herself. After all he, the beautiful man covered in blood took the only family she had left and she was tossed from one foster home to another. So when she comes face to face with the monster she loves to hate years later this time he doesn’t let her go. What happens when a man she should despise becomes a man she wants and is it even possible for a man like Loki to love or is he truly a monster?
“I am a monster-born into a world of blood and death. I accept my fate, but make a promise to myself that I will change hers."
I did like the whole idea of the story and it did have some different aspects that I liked, but to me it just wasn’t all as the darkness I had hoped for. I had a hard time with both Loki and Debbie and just couldn’t feel any connection between the two. Also there was something that annoyed me so much throughout the book, Loki had this knife he always carried with him, that he lovingly called baby. I felt like if he talked about baby every other sentence in the book and it just became redundant and way too much. It forced me to skim pages and I hate that. It was an ok read, I just didn’t love it.

I will give her 5 stars even though I'm miffed about the ending
I know not all stories have a HEA and this was definitely not your typical romance novel so yeah don't expect one but she gave us the best ending she possibly could I guess ...with the way the book ended I choose to believe that Loki retired his Beauty and decided to live that dream he always wanted with his little cat... • I have a little cat with sad, blue eyes that has been looking for me in the shadows. It is time she finds me there, and helps me step into the light.
See what I mean so yeah that's how it ends so I wouldn't say it was exactly a HEA but it's as good as we will get. So anyways moving on I read the reviews for this book and there were many that said it was bad, very gross, etc. I actually enjoyed this book! I have read some really raunchy stuff and this one was right up there with them and it even surpassed some. So if you would like a run down I made a list of some triggers that may or may not effect you.
• If you have a problem with a Normal guy that has vampire like tendencies- This is not the book for you. • Rape- There were plenty references, threats, and actual rape if this bothers you- This is not the book for you. • If you have a problem with Hannibal Lecter- This is not the book for you. • If you get squeamish at the thought of blood- This is not the book for you. • If you do not like torture and violence- This is not the book for you. I think that pretty much covers it. Again I enjoyed the book regardless of Loki's obsessions with mother nature LoL my heart broke for the little boy that went through what he went through so yeah call me crazy but I enjoyed it and I would tell every one if you can handle my check list then if you're a KU subscriber check it out for yourself and form your own opinion.
Monsters don’t get the girl and we don’t get the happy ending.
There is no question this book is dark. This book brings to the reader a story that is characteristically distinctive, that contains killing, danger, blood play, knife play, and hot depraved sex.
Loki is an assassin that has a penchant for blood. He gets a thrill, a type of euphoria from killing. It’s all he’s known and it’s rooted so deep within that it’s woven into his soul.
Debbie, alone in the world, a survivor. After witnessing her guardian being killed and bouncing around in the foster system, she attempts to live a imperceptible tolerable life.
These two have crossed paths once before, and Loki not only spares Debbie’s life once but twice. But it seems that he cannot allow her to walk away this time. He has found something to play with until he decides her time is up. That is….was….the plan. Somehow she has brought out a vulnerability within him.
Even bad men have hearts as I’m sure you’ve learned.
I love how broken each of the characters are but manage to find light and healing within each other. The twists are intense and the peak of the story had my anxiety through the roof. I was white knuckling my kindle to just get through to the conclusion. Absolutely loved this story and will be reading more from this author!!
I'm having a hard time finding the right words to review this book. The only words I have would spoil the best parts of this story and I refuse to ruin the journey this book takes you on. I will say that it is more than I anticipated in the darkness and gore department which is a pleasant surprise. However blood, gore and darkness is not the entirety of the story. The foundation of both Loki and Debbie's lives, who they are and how they meet again are solidly built. From that foundation builds a more complex and emotional story line that I didn't see coming. I can't wait for the second book ESPECIALLY how this one ended. I gasped, for real. Sins In The Night is an awesome addition to the dark romance genre.
S.H. Timmins, thank you, first and foremost for this gift of your work. I felt extremely engrossed by the storyline and you definitely did not pull the punches, so to speak. Let me be frank, Sins in the Night is not for the faint of heart, however, this for me personally, is the Only way I can come close to the genre of Romance with pleasurable outcomes...has to be dark, twisted..off...etc.. I must say it was also an indoctrination to hematolagina as a sub set, one which has never interested me personally but worked excellently with this story, allowing a beautiful, scary glimpse into another world.
Holy crap was this book good! It was dark but had many elements of light to it!
Loki is one of my favorite characters for such a dark man! He has a story that will break your heart but he is still dark and really doesn’t apologize for being that way.
Debbie is a wonderful leading lady and even though she doesn’t want to like Loki she doesn’t necessarily “fear” him the way she feels she should!
Our tale is not for the faint hearted or those that can’t take darkness in any level! But if you can, wow will you reap the rewards with this story!
Fantastic! So glad a friend recommended S.H. Timmins to me!
Wowzers! This was an all exciting read. WARNING: Do not read this book if you have a weak stomach, also this book does contain a rape scene, so if that would disturb you DO NOT READ! This book was an intense roller-coaster of emotions, the author did a great job in building the relationship between the two characters, I would have given 5 stars but because there were some typos but not bad to take away from the actual storyline. Also I think the ending was short and sweet, so there was not an exact closure for the characters for me. I highly recommend this book!
To say that this is a “dark” read is the understatement of the year! This story was pitch black and shiver inducing at times. Not so much ch the description of the acts, but the idea that people like Loki truly exist?! I enjoyed this story and the graphic scenes didn’t bother me one bit. I chose 4 out of 5 stars because I truly believe there should’ve been a more in depth warning about the contents. Generally, I’m not a fan of warnings but this one was pretty rough & gory. All in all, a great read and I’ll definitely read more from this author.
Well, this was quite a different book. Loki is an assassin into blood play. Debbie is the little girl he allowed to live while on a mission until they met again. I liked the damaged monster that Loki had become that unknowingly was looking for the light. This story definitely kept my interest and had a few twists with the other monsters/co-workers that Loki hangs with. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Blake...the not so gentle giant.
I was hesitant to read this because I knew it would be bloody. I typically don’t like gore however it was not so over the top that I was grossed out. It was also written pretty well. There was a little bit of repetition of the same phrase to make a single point but it wasn’t obnoxious like with other authors.
There is another book in the series, but this can be read as a stand-alone. I’m going to download book 2 as soon as I submit this review.
First time reading this author... First off, I love reading dark books and this one isn't the worst (with its darkness) I've read but close. The storyline kept me turning the pages.. The characters were engaging, interesting to where I wanted to learn more about them. If you like dark reads I think you might like this story.
I could only get to 63%. It’s not the dark and gory scenes. It’s just so hard to follow with so many grammatical errors and broken sentences. Caught myself rolling my eyes and putting my iPad down quite a few times. The darkness of the book and the situations didn’t bother me but they may for others so just be cautious.
This is one seriously f-ed up book BUT it is also one of the most amazing books I've read lately. The warning of triggers definitely needs to be heeded because it gets intense quick! If this is only book one, I have no idea how any books that follow will top this one. Amazingly written and mind blowing to read!
Wow! What a dark read! I loved all the action , suspense, darkness, hotness and of course the light! I can't wait to start the next one! Please be aware of the trigger warnings before starting this dark read! Trust me , it's not for the faint of heart! But if you like some dark with your light then this is the book for you!
All I can say about this book is what the fuck did I just read, in the best way possible. This book is amazingly twisted and I loved every dirty depraved second. From beginning to end this book sucks you in and doesn't let you go. I cannot wait to see what S.H. Timmins has in store next.
This book and author had me right from the first chapter what a amazing story it sucks you right in like your living in this book can't Wait to see what she has to come in her next book whatever ever it may be...
I almost put this book down several times. But kinda glad I didn't.
I can get into some dark books, but this one took it to a whole new level. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I do enjoy a book that makes me think and see things in a new light.
This book kept me totally enthralled. For those with innocent dreams I do not recommend but for those with a vast imagination and dark side, this was worth taking my day to read!
This was a dark read, but oh so good. Only downer was the rape scene, I like me some dark romance but when it gets the the villain raping the heroine it completely shuts me off. Thus the 4 stars.
The guy doesn't always become the hero, you can never undo what's been done but you can make a conscious decision to not do the evil any longer. Are monsters born or made? The question never to be answered. Amazing dark, twisted story! Heed the warnings...
This book series is so hot and the characters and their feelings are so real. I've read them multiple times and am always checking for new books of hers. I wish she'd write more soon!!! I've read authors with similar likes but none as good as S.H.Timmins!
LOVED THIS BOOK!!! S.H. Timmins is a new author for me. Sins In The Night was absolutely fantastic. It's dark, it's gritty and oh so good. There's plenty of action and hot, steamy scenes. I couldn't put it down.
