I liked it, but it is a slog to read. This is sort of a graduate level textbook of the period, but every now and then the author pulls off a snarky comment that can make you laugh out loud. Also, it isn't everyday that you read someone who laments the overthrow of Charles X.

The book is a powerful soporific as well, sort of Advil PM with a front and back cover.
