A not useless volume, but the writing and scope is so academically focused that I guess the only audience for this work forty years later is the group of people who are both in university at an advanced level and have studied programming significantly more than they have studied computer science theory.
To me the more interesting parts are listed in footnotes that say it is covered in more detail in some other work. And I wish I could have had those books available to see what they were referring to.
