Holly Jacobs leads a life full of romance and adventure. From skydiving to jet-setting around Europe, from snorkeling in coral reefs to writing while wearing beautiful silk peignoir sets and popping chocolate bonbons, Holly Jacobs leads a life that is the epitome of romance...

Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas...but at heart, they're all stories of love.

I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!

Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!

Very good book. Maeve feels a little envious of her friends who have found true love in the past year, but she isn't going to let it get her down. She finds the perfect distraction in a homeless family that arrived in town during a snowstorm. She is determined to help them get back on their feet and has found the perfect way to do it. Aaron is in Valley Ridge to run his uncle's store while his uncle is in Arizona where it's warmer. He feels like his heart is as frozen as the rest of him until he meets Maeve. He doesn't understand her at all, as he's not used to people who don't have ulterior motives for everything they do. He finds himself unable to resist the need to figure her out and ends up learning about himself too.

"I can't save the world, but I can try" is Maeve's motto. She and her mother had found themselves in need of help when she was younger. Now she works very hard to make sure that she is never in a position to need that kind of assistance again. She is very independent and doesn't like to ask for help from anyone. While she is friends with many people she is also a private person. She doesn't really talk about her past. Maeve loves to help her community and the people in it and she does it without asking for assistance. When a homeless family appears in Valley Ridge she wants to help them. Her initial attempts bring her into contact with Aaron who is pretty cynical. She tries not to let his attitude get her down. I loved her idea of how to help the family and her determination to make it happen. It bugged her that she had to rely on Aaron for help in getting it done, but working with him caused her to change her opinion of him. She wasn't interested in getting involved with him but she also couldn't seem to stay away. She attempted to keep things on a friends only basis, especially after she learned of the reason he wasn't able to date. I loved the way that their friendship grew even as they fought any stronger feelings. Opening herself up to Aaron also showed her that she had been holding herself back in her other friendships too. I loved seeing how her project to help the Myers family also showed her how important she was to the other members of the community.

Aaron had come to Valley Ridge to help out his uncle. He is a computer nerd whose work can go where he does, so he doesn't mind helping. His first meeting with Maeve doesn't go that well, as he makes a comment about her red hair. He can't deny his interest in her but isn't planning to get involved with her. As he sees her trying to help the Myers family and learns about her other good deeds he is puzzled. In his experience no one is that good to other people without expecting something in return. I loved seeing him get to know Maeve and how her outlook on life rubbed off on him. The more he got to know her the closer he wanted to get, but he also had to deal with something from his past first. I loved that conversation and how it opened his eyes further to his feelings for Maeve. I loved the Christmas Eve scene and the comparison to A Christmas Carol.

One of my favorite things about this book is the small town setting. I loved seeing the couples from the previous books shown in a logical way, not just jammed in to have them there. I enjoyed all the ways that people let Aaron know they were watching him in regards to Maeve, but also that they welcomed him as part of the community. I also loved seeing the various ways that the Myers family was helped in big ways and small ones by the town and how they all came together to work on the house.

This was a wonderful Christmas story. Maeve was always doing something nice for someone else. She sees a need and looks to fill it. Maybe it's because she and her mother had once been homeless and some good people in Valley Ridge had helped them get back on their feet. Giving was her way of paying back the community. She'd almost single handedly gotten the library reopened and volunteered a good deal of her time there. When a young couple pulls their beat up RV in the library parking lot to get out of a blinding snowstorm, Maeve takes them in and offers them food and shelter. Josie and Boyd were on their way to South Dakota after Boyd lost his job and they lost their home. They had a young son and Josie was currently expecting their second child.

Aaron is in Valley Ridge for a couple of weeks, minding his uncle's store while the man vacationed in Arizona. Independently wealthy after having made a fortune selling one of his software programs, Aaron had the time and was more than willing to help a family member. He was also struggling with a personal issue and avoiding his sister's in the process. When he meets Maeve he's intrigued by her. He can't figure her out. She's taken strangers into her home, helping the man find work, babysitting their toddler son, and helping the woman cope with a difficult pregnancy. When she wants to buy them a house, renovate it, and move them in for Christmas, he's convinced there's more going on than she's saying. There has to be something in it for her if he can just figure out what that something is.

Although both Aaron and Maeve say they aren't interested in a relationship, they find themselves drawn to one another nonetheless. But Aaron is harboring a secret and Maeve has kept herself closed off emotionally from people for years. Little by little she finds herself opening up to others thanks to Aaron.

This was a lovely feel good Christmas romance with wonderful characters in a small town I'd love to live in myself. It's about a community coming together to help those in need and all of them growing closer as a result. Maeve had such a big heart but there was a piece of that heart she guarded carefully, never letting anyone get too close. Aaron manages to tear down some of those walls but he's struggling to put hos own past behind him. Until he fully understands what happened in the past and moves on, he won't be able to have a future - with Maeve.

Found myself totally engrossed in this one. One of the best Christmas stories I've read this year. I love happy endings!

I loved this book from the very first page, it is the perfect Christmas story. It has such a warmth to it with great characters that you fall in love with from the beginning. I know all books should not have a "moral" too it but this one does. It's about forgiveness, moving on and learning to enjoy each day! It is about doing good deeds for others without even thinking about it. What can I say, I am a big fan of this book. A must read for this Christmas season and every Christmas season! Thank you Holly Jacobs for the hours of great reading!

I was initially hesitant to open this because I haven't read any of the books in the series, but I got enough backgrounder on the extra characters to not feel that I missed out on anything (even though, of course, I knew I did). I enjoyed the wonderful sense of community, a staple of small-town romance, shown here. The “you're one of us, he hurt you, of course we're going to threaten him” trope never gets old with me. ;)

Maeve's as selfless as they come, but she's too self-reliant, prideful, and affected by her past to remember there are some people who will be willing to help if only asked. I wonder if she and her mother actually directly asked someone for help and were turned down. In any case, they were lucky enough to have people care for them, no strings attached. It's intriguing that this experience, which became her driving force, has shaped Maeve both positively and negatively.

And, oh, Aaron and his lame geek jokes. Sheesh, I think I laughed at the “memory stick-in-the-mud” joke a whole minute more than it deserves (but maybe that shows how his awkwardness and skewed sense of humour reflect mine, haha). If you're astute enough, you'll pick up right away why he's so…reluctant and bitter. In the end, I'm glad that he's found satisfying closure and later realises that he's also partly to blame for what happened.

I like Maeve and Aaron's chemistry. It's quick to show but slow to take shape, understated but genuine. They're not-quite-friends who are not-quite-dating. They're allies. Some days they don't even like each other, but I find that this makes for a fun, well-developed relationship between them.

A Valley Ridge Christmas is a sweet, very touching Christmas romance. If you want a leisurely read with goody characters and no real antagonist to break the couple apart, this one's for you. (Maeve and Aaron do a pretty bang up job on the “break the couple apart” thing by themselves, no problem, thank you very much.)

This is a perfect cozy holiday read! I'm not generally a big romance reader, but I met the author several times and decided to check one of her books out. While I'll still say that romance isn't my genre, this was a nice, pleasant book to read during the holidays to help get you in the spirit. I enjoyed the fact that while this is a romance book, it's about far more than just the relationship between the main couple - it's about a community, how they interact and take care of each other in times of need. There is a very good feel of a typical comfy, small town. I recommend this for anyone who is looking to snuggle up under a warm blanket during the cold winter months and just wants a book that is a pleasure to read and will take you away to a homey place!

This book ties in with the trilogy of Valley Ridge..It would work well as a stand alone book if you're looking for a wonderful Holiday story..Loved catching up with al my favorites from the other books and loved the new couple Boyd and Josie and their little boy,Carl..Maeve has always been a quiet and more reserved person who does a lot to help Valley Ridge and it's nice to read her story here and also for her to meet Aaron..Awesome Christmas romance that I highly recommend to anyone that likes a happy ending book!!

Sometimes I like to read a good Harlequin, and this one was a really sweet story. It can get a little treacle-y, but it's what you want from a Christmas story. Nice, caring people that you hope find happiness. You just want to live in this perfect little town, and these are characters you want to know-no snarky snipers in this novel.
