Ooh Alice Rachel !

To leave me in the edge!!!!

Anyways. This is the story of Thia and Chi, who should be nominated best couple of 2016. What I loved about this couple is their devoted love and trust. I loved the way Chi, gave Thia the space to be her own woman, to enjoy the freedom from the laws of their land. The deep connection these two shared was amazing to read. I cannot wait till the next chapter of their story.

Standing Ground is the Second book in the Under Ground series by Alice Rachel. It is a Dystopian Romance with action, adventure, drama and suspense.
As we discovered in the first book Under Ground, Thia and Chi live in a society where the women outnumber the men, but where the men hold all the power- women have no rights, no voice, they are completely expendable and replaceable. Arrangements had been made for Thia to be ‘sold’ into a loveless marriage to William Fox a cruel, self-serving and heartless young man.
Their society is such that Chi Richard really shouldn’t exist, as he was born illegally and has been forced to hide from the government authorities for his entire life. He has one sole purpose in life was to free his parents from the work camps that they have been forced into. He is also an active member of the Underground, a rebel group who aim to topple the government and bring about a new world order where the new society would have equality of the sexes.
So when the two meet and then fall in love it places them very much in danger, because if they are caught they could face a death sentence.
This story starts off where the first one left off, after the attack on camp 19 where Chi’s parents were being held. Chi has led the prisoners to the city where they will be hidden from the authorities. Chi is coming apart from the weight of his discovery and experience. Riots threaten to overwhelm the city, so the government takes extreme measures in an effort to try to maintain control. If the citizens want to survive, they have no choice but to try to fight back.
At this time a virus is sweeping through the population, striking down citizens, refugees- as well as Under Ground members. Thia sets out to try to obtain the cure and finds that that there will be a cost involved. Can she obtain a cure in time? What will be left of the rebels? What surprises will be revealed?
As with the first book, this is so well written that you find yourself drawn into it and forming attachments to the characters and story.
Under Ground was good, but the author definitely didn’t disappoint with this instalment- I may even go so far as to say that this one is better than the first.
The author has quite a flair for descriptive and dynamic scene setting and the result is a story that is heartbreakingly emotional and entirely gripping. Ms. Rachel has sprinkled a little humour through the story, to lighten the intensity just a little.
Ms. Rachel drops surprises into the storyline like a fighter jet drops bombs… There were points where I was being so bombarded, but I couldn’t look away- I just had to keep reading.
There is more overall story in this book, where we find out so much more. It is quite a ride. The next book is set to be even more exciting!

Thank you Alice Rachel!

Standing Ground is book two of Alice Rachel’s Underground series and I feel like this series is getting better and better as it goes on. This book picks up almost exactly where the first book leaves off and Chi is still dealing with the revelations that his brother Stephan gave us in the first book. Thia has her mom back but is struggling with the balance between what she wants and what her mom wants.
So several of the camps have been raided and many refugees are not free to join the resistance or go find their own way. The underground is doing the best they can to provide for all of their people and raids are still in progress to get food and clothing. But when everyone starts getting sick and dying they realize that the authorities have now poisoned more than just the water. It is now a race against time to find the cure and save as many people as possible. When a raid for medicine goes terribly wrong, no one is prepared for the fall out. Secrets come out and identities are hidden. Will they be able to survive the latest obstacle or will this be the end of the resistance??
I liked this series when I started reading it but as I get more into this world of resistance and fighting for survival, I love it more and more. I really like Thia even though I think she needs to embrace her stance one way or another, but she is doing the best she can without losing herself along the way. I love Chi, I really love the way that his whole purpose now is to protect Thia and he is so incredibly patient with her. I can not wait to read the next book! IF you haven’t started this series yet, I highly suggest that you get started now!

Standing Ground  (Underground Volume 3) By Alice Rachel

Standing Ground is  Book 2 By Alice Rachel in the Underground series and should be read as a part of the series to better understand what is going on and what's happened leading to this book.

I truly enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. It's fast paced with plenty of action to keep you on the edge of the couch.I loved this book the most out of the three.I liked that as I read I felt like I was right there fighting along with them. Its a real eye-opener makes you think can this really happen? The story, characters are amazing and in some parts very emotional. Thia and Chi are very much a couple is this story with Riots threatening to overcome everything thing. The people who are in  charge  make a attempt to get control, they panic and sink to desperate measures, which forces the citizens to fight back. The main issue is the Virus is very quickly taking down refugees citizens  and as well as the rebels. While This is somewhat determined to get the cure but quickly comes to the understanding nothing is free in this life.I can't say enough how this book makes you step back and really think, gain prospective from other points. While there was action and suspense, there was a few twists as well.I look forward to reading more from this author.

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel a surprising five-Star read. Despite being Under Ground book two in the series it is in fact the third book, the reading order is Under Ground book 1, Losing Ground book 1.5 and then this book Standing ground book 2, you really should read them all I order to get the full picture and understand how the world and those in it revolve and evolve. (There are other short stories also but I haven’t read them yet, so not sure how they fit)
Once again, we see Thia and Chi and watch as their relationship develops and grows, and Chi proves again how strong and secure he is, by living in a society that doesn’t value women but allowing the woman he loves to be strong and independent, helping her when she is fighting for what she believes in, but not holding it over her. It shows us true sense of character.
We watch Thia as she finally gets her mother back, they start to settle into a new relationship, and while this happens people around them start to get sick, they wonder if it’s the government poisoning them again, but it turns out to be worse. There is a virus that was unleashed by the government in a desperate attempt to gain back control that was slipping during the riots. The rebels face an uphill battle and one that they may not all survive.
The thing I loved most about this book, was that although we got to see This and Chi develop we also got to meet more of the rebels, and saw more of the world they live in and fight for, we get a bigger picture of what is going on and who the main players are within the story. This is an action-packed book that will keep you hooked all the way through, you will read it without realising any time has passed it sucks you in and won’t let go until you finished the last page. Alice Rachel has a talent for dragging you into a different world, one that I doubt many would willing live in.

Standing Ground is a book that do not reach your expectations, because it surpasses them. Twists and revelations always bring the readers to shock, and satisfaction. Here, situations became more exhilarating, yet dramatic-VERY DRAMATIC. Standing Ground is something that will make you feel emotions you never thought you'll feel because of a book. Why? That is because, at first, it holds you close and makes you attached to it, and as you continue reading it, your heart will break so many times. It makes you love a character and mourn for him/her later. But, however heartbreaking this book could be, I can say that this book is WORTH IT.

Thia Clay, my said favorite character in Under Ground, is still my favorite! She became a lot bolder and stronger, and I admire her for that. She is who we should set an example when it comes to overcoming troubles and grief. Her mother died, and it was unfathomably sad. When I read that part, I felt like she's my own mom and I got to grieve for her death. There are other characters that I have grieved for, but I don't want to spoil more.

These are the three words that I can say to describe Standing Ground: Intense. Dramatic. Exhilarating.

There are scenes in this book that I unconsciously hold my breath. The action scenes, dramatic ones, and the love scenes are all written well. It's as if those are the best words to narrate the story and paraphrasing it would do no good. Alice Rachel is indeed full of surprises. I thought that Under Ground is the best, yet Standing Ground overpowered it, and it is something that's greater than "best." Therefore, I rate this book 5/5. Thank you so much, Alice Rachel, for writing a good book, such as this.

This fast-paced story made me cry more than once. The back and forth between the members of the Underground and the government is tense and action-packed. There's so much that happens, and I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say it more than held my attention! I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Standing Ground is Book 2 of the Underground Series. In between Under Ground (Book 1) and Standing Ground (Book 2) are Losing Ground – a Stephen Richards novella - and The Short Stories. The Short Stories book contains stories for some of the main characters besides Thia, Chi and Stephen; they are told from these characters points of view. Although you do not have to read these books before reading Standing Ground you may find it gives you another perspective on events in the story.
Thia and Chi are still together and the authorities are maliciously trying to regain control over ordinary people and the cities. The rebels – The Underground – are still in hiding and there are numerous camps. Some citizens are beginning to fight back and join the fight for freedom of movement, speech and life itself.
Thia and Chi are amongst other leaders and ‘refugees’ hiding out in a derelict apartment block. Living conditions aren’t healthy and with the authorities guarding food supplies and first aid equipment (including medicines) people begin to die from a deadly contagious virus that is rapidly spreading amongst them. They must attack government soldiers to retrieve medicines and a drug that can cure the disease. The problem is the authorities are expecting them to attack and the guards are very vigilant. Can they steal enough drugs and medical equipment to help them survive the disease? Who will survive the raids?
The love between Thia and Chi deepens through this book. It is refreshing to find characters that love so deeply and unselfishly. Both Thia and Chi are ready to sacrifice their own lives in order that the other may live. Chi loves and respects Thia so that he allows her to be who she is and doesn’t try to manipulate her into doing what he wants. A truly admirable character. No wonder she falls deeper in love with him.
Thia knows full well she can trust Chi, but as events unfold she begins to find out that people including those closest to her are sometimes not what or who they seem to be. If she doesn’t act fast enough on her instincts things could go from bad to worse for her or Chi.
Alice Rachel does not disappoint with this fast paced, action packed story. However, Standing Ground opens with a prologue that gives a little of the plot away. You have to read on to find out what has happened to lead to this event. I did feel that this did spoil a little of the reading for me as you know straight away something drastic has happened. However, events further in gave enough twists and turns to more than make up for this. I have to admire Alice Rachel for the way in which she continuously deepens already complex characters and provides the twists and turns that make you think ‘omg’ and ‘oh, yes, that makes sense but I’d not thought of it that way’.
It is another emotional read, the tenderness shared by Thia and Chi is heart-warming, and yet there is fierceness too as they each try to protect the other.
Standing Ground has a cliff hanger ending which means I can’t wait to pick up the next Book – Breaking Ground Book 3. Please Alice Rachel hurry up and write it. In the meantime though I have the novella’s to read that are in between Books 2 and 3; thank goodness.

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel is book two in the Under Ground series. In the first book we were introduced to Thia and Chi. This book is all about Thia conquering every obstacle in her way. With a virus ravaging the rebel camps both Thia and Chi know that something has to be done to save everyone that they care about. While searching for a cure they are captured and forced to endure some of the worst torture imaginable. What will become of these two young lovers? Will they recover the cure in time to save their friends, all of who have become more like family?
This book was even better than the first one in the series. The true, unwavering love that Thia and Chi have for each other is nothing short of inspiring. Watching Thia grow was one of the best things about this book. Every challenge is met with a new found sense of courage and faith in herself that she has found thanks to Chi. Chi allows her to be the very best version of herself without trying to force her into some kind of mold. He knows when to push her, when to ease up, and when to simply let her be. These two are definitely one of my favorite couples because of how they work as a pair. Full of action, adventure, betrayal, anger, fear, and hope, this book takes you on a journey with these two characters that pulls you in from the first page and doesn’t let go until the very last page. I have to give this book a five star rating for building on an already solid foundation and taking the story to a whole new level.

Standing Ground is the second book in the Under Ground series by Alice Rachel. It is highly recommended that you read book one (Under Ground), the three short stories (Chi, William, and Willow), and the novella (Losing Ground) before you read this book. Standing Ground picks up where Under Ground left off. The author has given a brief summary of Under Ground at the front of the book as a refresher.

In this story Chi and Thia are discovering new depths of their relationship as they continue to deal with the stress of the rebellion against the establishment. In response to the uprising, the government has poisoned the main water supply and the Resistance finds itself scrambling to figure out where to relocate to. To make matters worse, the refugees they rescued have an illness that is fast becoming an epidemic.

The Resistance plans to raid a pharmaceutical company that holds medicine and vaccinations against the disease that is quickly moving through their ranks. As they are making plans to raid, Chi and Thia’s mother both contract the illness, making things more difficult for Thia to deal with.
In the background of the main story, this book also lets you glimpse the personal relationships of several other characters. The first book, Under Ground, dealt more with women’s rights whereas Standing Ground discusses the challenges of being in a society that does not recognize alternative sexuality. Thia is taken by surprise when her mother reveals that Lance, Thia’s brother, is gay. As she gets to know her mother a bit more, she realizes that the decisions she made were out of trying to protect her children.

I like the way the author has addressed social and interpersonal issues and woven an engaging story around them. I am enjoying this series immensely and I look forward to reading the next book!

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel

Four stars

This story centers around Chi and Thia and their fight in making a future in a place that has no rights for women and a law against giving birth. Both characters are head strong and willing to do what it takes to find peace. Chi just wants to rescue his family and Thia just wants to escape being forced to marry William. I see a lot more fight from these two characters than I did from Kayla and Taylor. While Kayla and Taylor lost a lot in their story I seen more getting done in Thia and Chi's story. I did enjoy both stories. The insight on how our world could be was truly frightening. All the laws that have past and all the deaths seem so pointless. I’ve never understood why people feel the need to control those around them. Why is it anyone else’s business how many kids you have or if you like men or women? What right do people have to tell others how to live? It’s the same with racism just because a person is different than you gives you no right to treat them less than you are treated. I was raise to see myself as equal than all those around me I am not better than anyone or more worthy than anyone. But we have people raising their children with no knowledge on respect and compassion. Kids being raised thinking that they deserve all things just because of who their parents are. Kids getting away with crimes just because of connections. It’s a sad day when a book points out all that is wrong with our world.

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel is the second book in the Under Ground series. Read the books in order because this picks up from the first book. Again we are taken to Eboracum City with the challenges presented to Thia and Chi. In this series, we delve into a dystopian world that is full of romance, adventure, and twists and turns. Thia is still beyond great as a female lead character. She has grown a lot since we are first introduced to her. Chi is fantastic and stands by Thia but still gives her enough room to be her own person.
I enjoyed the book as much as the first. There are several novellas focusing on different characters in the books. I am going to start checking those out to continue my travels in Eboracum City. The books are great because the setting is realistic and the situations are realistic enough to be possible. This is what makes a great dystopian novel. The possibility of the novel taking place in the world.

I am a person who loves YA Series books. Being a Mom of three girls and also a Library Science major makes me more interested YA books. I started reading Alice Rachel with Under Ground. She is a very captivating author. She paints a vivid picture of her characters and scenery. She keeps you going from the first page to the last page.
Thai is still struggling with the relationship between what Thai wants and what her Mom wants for her. People are using the Under Ground to leave, but everyone is getting sick. The questions for the Under Ground are numerous. Can they figure out what is making everyone sick, is there someone behind the sickness, and will a cure found in time.
The love story between Thai and Chi. Their relationship is growing. Alice Rachel is doing a great job describing their relationship the good and the bad. I cannot wait to see what else Alice Rachel has in store for this couple.

Standing Ground (Under Ground) (Volume 3) by Alice Rachel is the third book in the Under Ground series. This book is a continuation of Thai story from Book 1. I would recommend reading these books in order and read the previous books before this one as it picks up right after book 1. I think this series gets better and better with everyone book I read. You will enjoy how this author has created characters that really connect with each other and you will find yourself connecting with them. This story like the others, will pull you in from the first word. These characters will take you on an emotional journey of sadness, anger and compassion. Find out what happens next with Thai as her journey continues.

This book picks up right where Book 1 left off with Thai. Now that she has her mother back, she is struggling with what her mother wants verses what she wants to do. The under ground is doing their best on providing for the people who are living there. Why are they all of sudden getting sick? Could the authorities poisoning more than just their water? Tai knows what she must do, try to save them. What will happen when a raid goes bad? Will it put everyone in more danger? Are they ready for a fall out that could be bigger then what they realize? What will happen when secrets are found out and identities are hidden? Will they survive or will it kill their very existence?

Tai will have to make some serious decisions, what will she do? Will her choice put them more in danger or will they see an end? Thai and Chi's relationship also continues in this story. They are strong together and seem to be meant to be together. He helps her find the strength that she needs to fight. As in the other stories you will see her grow stronger and stronger through all the books. She really does seem to come into herself in this story and that just makes her a strong character. The author is taking her character from being a shelter girl to a full fledged rebel. Find out how the strong the author has made this character.

This is my third story by Alice Rachel and I know it won't be the last. I can't wait to see what happens with these characters next. I enjoy each of her books more with each one I read next. Alice loves spending time with her husband and guinea pigs. When she is not writing, she teaches French, reading and drawing. This author has created a story that you will read in one sitting. She created a story that has so many twists and turns and have you sitting on the edge of your seat on minute and needing Kleenex the next. This is a real page turner that you will lose yourself in and just lose track of time. You will need to see what happens with these two. I highly suggest this story as I know you will want to take the journey with Thai and watch her grow through each story.

"In life and death, I will cherish you for all eternity. For my heart will always find you, my sweet, wherever you might be."

Alice Rachel blew my mind. It took me so long to finally read the second book of this series and now that I have, I find myself wondering why the heck it took me so long! This series is truly something special and like I said last year, there is no other series like this one.

Thia and Chi are now a major part of the rebellion. The two of them are an amazing team! Both are so selfless and will do anything to protect each other and the people around them. In book two, the rebellion is faced with a virus, killing the people they love, and a poisonous river, making food hard to come by. The rebellion is forming a plan to get medicine for the sick. Their plan works the first time... but not the second time.. or the third. People are dying and others are being captured. What happens when Thia and Chi find themselves surrounded by officers? What happens when Thia can't tell if she is with Chi or Stephen? How could she possibly be with Stephen? This book is fast paced and full of surprises. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I had no idea what was going to happen next but I couldn't stop reading until I found out.

I absolutely adore Chi and Thia's relationship. They are not only a couple, but are the best of friends. These two will go to the end of the earth and back for one another. Another thing I really loved was the short stories in the back of this book. We can always count on Alice Rachel to give us a bunch of amazing extra material! Her characters are so complex and full of life. As a reader, her short stories really help me understand the characters on a whole different level. Each character has a huge background story of his/ her own.

This series has an awesome meaning, and I will forever hold these books close to me. I love that Rachel wrote a series about people fighting for what they believe in and women standing up for themselves and their rights. I could only imagine how terrible arranged marriages could be. Once again, this story really is something special and so unique! I can not wait for book three!! I am super anxious to find out what happens next!

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel is book two in her Under Ground series. It picks up where 1 and 1.5 left off. This book is a bit darker than the first one, there’s more deaths and mixed emotions from the characters. We get to read more about the Under Ground and how they work and the missions they are wanting to accomplish. The riots are growing and getting worse as the days go by. Not everyone is safe and resources are starting to run low. Chi and Thia are still a strong couple despite the unfortunate situation they find themselves in. Thia still has to deal with her mother’s opinions and unwanted comments, while Chi can’t get over his father’s death.
All of a sudden people are getting sick and nobody knows why. They do know that the authorities have poisoned the water, and that has affected the river; one of their main sources of food. Could that be causing people to get sick? Will they die? The only way to help everyone out is to continue the raids, but this may bring huge consequences. Their members could get killed, even the civilians are in danger of dying because of those raids. Is she really wanting to risk the lives of others while trying to save them? Thia has some big choices to make, and must think of the others too. She wants Chi to be safe and will do anything to protect him. His life is more important than hers at the moment. He’s the light to her darkness, the strength in her will to fight. She’s in love with him and can’t help want what’s best for him. Chi also wants to keep Thia safe and will go above and beyond to make sure she is. It doesn’t matter, he’s said he has nothing to lose.
I like how in this book Thia is able to “spread her wings”. She isn’t the same scared and sheltered girl she was in the beginning of the series. She’s grown and has now done something most girls her age only dream of ever doing…she’s FREE! She’s the only one who can make choices for her. Even though in the society she lives in men still have the upper hand, Thia is outspoken and brave.
This has been a great series so far, and I can’t wait for the unraveling of the rest. These characters will grow to be amazing!

Standing Ground (Under Ground #2) by Alice Rachel

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel is the second novel in the Dystopian romance series, Under Ground. I give this novel a 4 star rating. This book picks up where Book #1 left off and it's important that these novels be read in order. The novella Losing Ground, which gave Stephen’s backstory, is one I would recommend reading in between as well, as it does add to the reader's overall feelings about Stephen. Standing Ground follows Thia and Chi after they return to where Taylor’s group is staying, along with those they saved from Camp #19. Thia and her mom have been reunited and she is now staying with Thia and Chi, and she has very strong opinions about Chi and very particular expectations for Thia’s behavior. The Hudson River has been poisoned, causing food to be more limited and now a virus has started spreading in the Underground. The challenges the group faces while trying to gather food supplies and more importantly medical supplies to help those suffering from the deadly virus lead to some very unfortunate losses amongst the group. Sacrifices, heartache, fighting, and betrayal add to this story.

The author again does a nice job with her descriptions of the characters and their inner struggles, as well as providing very realistic explanation of both the internal and external struggles faced by the characters. This novel had a little of everything, with suspense, romance, and loss all being touched on at some point. The exhaustion faced by some of the people, both physically and mentally by their constant state of question, fear, and distrust was very well explored in the author's writing. I enjoyed this Standing Ground and plan to continue with the series to see where things go next. I recommend this series, and this novel, to all those that appreciate Dystopian stories as well as those that are looking for a book that is a bit more in depth than the usual romance novels as this book has much more to offer.

My Review: (Copy provided)
4.5-5 stars!

Why oh why did I wait so long to read this? It was so good! Let me say it's been awhile since I read Underground, book one in the series and I was so happy I got a recap in the beginning. I love that the author did this.

This book starts where book one left off, it starts at a fast pace and sucked me right in. Everyone knows I like my sexy romances well let me tell you this books romance does not disappoint in fact she writes Chi (H) and Thia's (h) love story and interactions without much graphic detail but with so much passion I got the butterflies.

"His lips find my throat and I combust. A sudden flame ignites inside me, and I catch on fire right here in Chi's arms."

I felt the love Chi had for Thia and Thia had for Chi, you could just feel it while reading. It's a beautiful love too. They have so many obstacles to overcome and so much to fight for.

"The person I loved most in this world has left me here, stranded on this shore of profound desolation."

The beginning of the book is a little disturbing and quite sad, well actually the whole scenario is very sad. I'm not going to lie I got really choked up a few times during this book. You really get to know the characters of the Underground and these poor people can't seem to get a break, just when you think things are looking up something happens. Illness, attacks, etc...I won't spoil anything but it keeps you on edge and has you turning pages to find out what's going to happen.

Alice Rachel has a way with words, her writing is beautiful and descriptive without being overdone.

"I know you don't believe it yet, but the pain will dull with time. It will never go away. But one day, you will wake up and sorrow will only be an echo of what you're feeling now."

I love this. It is the perfect wording for this scenario.

I really need to read the novella's now!!
I can't wait to find out what happens.

an outstanding novel about keeping going despite it all going wrong. Alice Rachel continues her mesmerising saga of short novels with this new sequel. After the events of the last book, Thia and Chi and the group of rebels continue to riot against the oppressive state. Secluded ina safe location, they attempt to bring it down with attacks on warehouses and buildings. They do this for some time until the Hudson River is poisoned, destroying their water and fish supplies. Despite this,, they continue except with some rationing. Until it is revealed that a disease has spread in the city and even affected the refugees in their rebel camp. Even Thia's mother falls victim to it. However, the rebel group continue and attempt to hack into the security systems of a pharmaceutical company to get vaccines. they succeed at this, even though they are ambushed getting the vaccines. however, ti comes with a price of several lives and Thia and Chi have to go on the run until they are captured. Will they be able to conquer the oppressive state or die in the process before they gain their freedom?
A brilliant novel.well developed plot. well developed characters. The depiction of grief, particulary for Thia was stunning and perfectly done. her afterwards depression was also written beautifully and was relatable. I also enjoyed the depiction of the woods on the chase. the detail of the fish on the river which was highly emotive. the struggles of the rebel group were emotional, with twists and turns. making you believe they could succeed just before another tragedy occurs. Terrence's death as he admitted his love was powerful and sadnenning. The Byronic villain of Mr Fox was written well with creep factor and spine chilling antics to display power in the torture scenes. the hospital and scenes of the sick with a sense of vulnerability was perfectly written. Overall, another stunning work from Alice Rachel and I would give it five stars.

Standing Ground (Under Ground #2) by Alice Rachel
5 out of 5stars

This is the 3rd book I have read by Ms. Rachel this week and she has not disappointed me at all. I cried a few times throughout this beautiful story filled with action and romance it was also intense and emotional. She has this unique way of telling her story and the characters are well developed. The way she surprise’s you at every turn was really remarkable especially when you thought one thing and it was the total opposite.
The authorities strike back against the rioter’s in Eboracum City so to regain control over the city they used drastic measures as a retaliation against the civilians, the citizens are forced to fight back to survive.
A virus has spread through the Underground, taking down the refugees one by one, soon contaminating the rebels.
Thia wants to save the ones she loves, so she is going to have to retrieve the cure, and quickly. But certain decisions are costly, and not all actions are free of consequences.
Thia really surprised me an isolated shelter girl to a full on rebel. The way she grew into her own with the help from Chi who let her make her own choice as a woman. I loved how Thia and Chi are with each other the love between them is more emotional than sexual and this really make a difference for such a young couple that have gone through hell together and it’s just going to get worse.
Will Thia be able to save her loved ones? Will they survive what the authorities throws at them next? Will Thia and Chi take the next step in their relationship?
I highly recommend this story/series and you need to read them in-order to get the full effect of the series… She also made some good points in this story that I realizes that this could really happen in this day in age.

Standing Ground is Book Two of the Under Ground series by Alice Rachel. However, there are some novellas in between, so I suggest reading them all, in the correct order. I love this series and am glad it just keeps going on! Rachel writes with such detail and her characters are amazing. They are all very realistic, and their feelings are true and I feel connected to them. The book is fast paced, action packed and exciting. I never know what is going to happen next, which I love. It is told from Thia's point of view, and continues her story with Chi and the Underground rebel group they belong to. Their growing relationship is amazing, I love how close and connected they are, without the typical sexual relationship. I give this book a 5 star review, and am on to the next book!
Following the raids on the camps in book 1, the people are now rioting in all of Eboracum City. The authorities are trying to regain control, and have resulted to killing and poisoning the people, in order to scare the others into compliance. Thia, Chi and their group have taken the refugees into New York City, and are sheltering them until they can move on, undetected. However, time is running out. Their resources are quickly dwindling, and now there is an outbreak among the refugees, and people are getting sick and dying at high rates. The rebels dont have the answers to all the questions being asked, and things are getting heated among themselves when they dont always agree on the plan of action. I cant say too much more, without some spoilers, so I'll leave it at this, READ THE BOOK and entire series!!! One of my favorite YA/Dystopian series out there.

Title: Standing Ground (Under Ground Volume 2)
Author: Alice Rachel
Stars: 5

Standing Under Ground is the 2nd novel in this series by Alice Rachel. I would recommend reading the first novel and the novella before you read this one. This one starts off where book one ends, and is a continuation of Thia and Chi’s story.

Eboracum City is in chaos with riots, and the authorities are struggling for control. The authorities are desperate so they resort to drastic measures, and the citizens are fighting back! Now there is a virus that has plagued the Under Ground rebels and the rescued refugees seem to be what is causing the outbreak. This is putting a strain on resources. Thia decides to go to get the cure, but will her decisions make things better or complicated things more?

Thia and Chi’s love grows stronger & stronger in this book. Thia becomes more confident in herself. A lot of that is due to Chi’s unwavering support and love for her. He lets her grow into her own skin. Chi let's Thia be Thia, and doesn't try to manipulate her like most people do. This couple are willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of others. Alice Rachel writes so vividly, and knows how to bring out the emotions in her readers. She also knows how to leave you in suspense, ugh ;-) The action packed face pace of this book will keep you turning the pages, and wanting to know what's happening next. It's hard to put this book down, so be prepared to shut yourself up in a room with a do not disturb sign on the door. I have no doubt the next book will be even better!

Standing Ground (Under Ground Series) by Alice Rachel is the third book of this amazing YA/dystopian romance that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend reading this series in order so you truly understand this dystopian universe, but it catches new readers up with a prologue and cast of characters so it could be read as a stand-alone. This novel is written in first person POV by the main character, Thia. Although it’s considered the third volume, it is the continuation of Thia’s story from the first novel.

Thia is now reunited with her mother, and struggling between following her heart or her mother’s expectations for her. Riots are more frequent, and resources scarce. Thia and Chi are stronger than ever (despite her mother), and dedicated to the fight. But now it’s become more complicated, and a virus has begun to spread throughout the Underground. The water has been poisoned, food isn’t far behind. The raids must continue, but at what cost? It falls on Thia to save the ones she loves, but has she the resolve to make sacrifices?
This is the darkest novel yet, and the reader feels every bit of death and dark while reading. But it’s not without light, and Thia has become that ray of hope in the midst of war and tragedy. Loved how Thia has really grown from sheltered little girl to the warrior she portrays in this novel. All the characters are highly complex, and well written. Can’t wait to read what’s next in the fight for freedom.

Standing Ground
Book 2 in the Underground series
**5 Stars**

Wow! Alice Rachel has left me speechless! Standing Ground by Alice Rachel is book 2 in the Underground series with a novella in between them from the point of view of Stephen Richards, Chi’s twin. In Standing Ground we are back to reading from Thia Clay’s point of view. This book was a whirlwind of excitement, sadness, love and completely out of nowhere twist and turns. Alice Rachel went with a more realistic approach to the Underground world versus a fairy tale ending. Oh the emotions I felt while reading this book!

Thia Clay and Chi Richards are learning to love each other and deal with past and present obstacles. They work through the demons left by past relationships. We watch them both try to keep the other into falling into a deep depression at one point or another. They love each other more than most people could ever experience.

“In life and in death, I will cherish you for all eternity. For my heart will always find you, my sweet, wherever you might be.”

We also learn more about other relationships in the series. I am eager to read more into those side stories! Will the Underground survive rash decisions made in the name of love?

Standing Ground is amazing and left me wanting and needing more! I truly hope book #3 doesn't take forever to come out! Of course I'm rating this book 5 stars! It's been awhile since a book made me cry this much!

Standing ground written by Alice is book 2 in the standing ground series. This books starts off with a list of the reading order that is recommended, along with a character break down and there is a short part that catches you up incase you need a refresher on what happened in Losing Ground. The books order doesn’t need to be read in that specific order however the previous stories have the nice details if show Standing Ground came to be.
This story flows nicely with a smooth transition just like the stories before this one. It starts right where Losing Ground left off. Thia and Chi are suffering from night mares, the events that led to where they are now are starting to effect them, Thia comforts Chi when hes sleeping but during the day there is nothing either of them can do for each other.
This story has its ups and downs like the others but this time its more personal for Thia. While they are members of the underground and trying to do their part in the group things seem to keep getting worse and worse for them.
Will Thia and Chi ever get a moment to just be happy, or will their life be full of constant threats and being on the run. This story had a nice dramatic, up and down story it keeps you hooked because you are craving to know whats next and it definitely leaves you wanting more. It does end in a cliff hanger and you will be craving to know how it is going to end.
