In the waning issues of The Realm Book II, war fell heavy across civilized A'zoth. It gave the comic a nice, epic feel, but it also detracted from the human story at the heart of the comic. Authors Griffith and Kerr apparently recognized the problem because they sent the storyline of war off to its his comic, the two-issue Legend Lore, which is collected here.

Unfortunately, Legend Lore rarely matches the grandeur of those initial visions of war seen in the The Realm. Meanwhile, it loses all of its human connection. Oh, sure, there are a number of protagonist characters, but none of them gel as real people. So instead we have an unmoored storyline that just isn't that interesting.

The comic also seems to backtrack, going back to its roots in Dungeons & Dragons. Whereas The Realm was growing beyond this at the time, this is just a battle against dwarves and elves, who mostly feel pretty RPG stereotypical.

The result is something that's easily missable, unlike the much more notable Realm comic itself.
