congrats, toby! i hope you treat your wife with respect, don’t cheat on her, and that she doesn’t get killed like the other two 😍
jumping to timmy—that child needs to be stopped. he destroyed the house and fell off a hot air balloon, and he’s just like going about his life? not okay. he is 7 years old. he is extremely spoiled, and i can see why those kids wanted to pick on him im sorry.
gisela? okay, now that she’s dead, i miss her. she was less annoying in this one, and now im annoyed that henry will obviously get back with cindy—WITH that kid. ish.
Eulalia is so judgmental that i truly cannot handle it anymore. if i was Alexandria id be crying to toby about how mean she’s been to me.
last but not least, what’s up with Edward taking a shining to his teenaged cousin? what’s up with him and toby being romantically interested in their barely adult cousins? author is sick.
on the book cover is toby (shocker) + im guessing sally based on the full wrap-around image. (it looks like a pair of three gunslingers in the moonlight and a burning pile, although toby literally wasn’t there for that opening scene but he always sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong so that’s okay!)

4.5 Stars! I am a huge fan of historical fiction and this series was good! "Oklahoma!" is book 23 in the Wagons West series. Here we find multiple story lines in post Civil War America as well as the world. There's story lines out of India, The Ottoman Empire (Turkey), Germany and the expansion into the American West. Has a little bit of everything.
This was one of the best in the series! Cindy Holt Kerr is a strong character in this book, so are Edward Blackstone, and.. of course.. Henry Blake and Toby Holt. Timmy Holt gets involved as well & adds a great humorous dimension to this novel. Alexandra plays an integral part as she gives her all to the Portland community & Eulalia learns more about her distant cousin..future daughter-in-law. Everything is coming to a head, ready for the final book in this long, entertaining series!!!
The Cindy story is great - she goes to the Troy dig.
The whole Janessa makes it up with Henry and the Duchess feels very, very forced. It also makes it look like Janessa's affections are brought (the Duchess gives a 14 year old a hospital, I kid you not), so it does a bit of disservice to her.
However, it is better than the middle books as the women talk to each other.
Ok, I've loved every book in this series but I did not enjoy this one.. It felt muttled and half-assed -- sorry the only way I could describe this one.. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because it is a part of the series and the series as a whole is spectacular!!
