A Higher Calling

by Victoria Stone

Olivia Worthington has been born and bred a plantation princess, blindly thriving amidst the degrading practices of slavery. The whole of her life has come to the summation of superficial accomplishments and the despicable treatment of those unlike herself for the sake of heightening her own social standing and self-image. This empty life of vanity and hate-mongering remains unaltered until an unforeseen circumstance places Olivia in the very center of a world of which she has always remained contentedly ignorant. The harsh and inhumane realities of slavery, however, begin a self-evaluation in Olivia that may potentially give way to a revolution of character. Will Olivia renounce her familial heritage of hatred and choose to assist in the escape of those who suffer? Or will the demands of an unjust society conquer her newfound desires for reform?

Experience the emotional journey of one forced to choose between a life of comfort and relative safety, or a more dignified existence spent in the pursuit of justice for her fellow men.
