In other words, me.
I truly was a dancing, singing, man-plowing, alcohol-guzzling, human wrecking ball of fun.
With a reputation for chaos so legendary, I made a career out of it.
Men came (pun intended), men went, but as long as I had my girls and Sunday brunches, I was solid.
I didn’t need a man to complete me. Hell no, I was in total control of my destiny.
But see, that’s where I went wrong.
I challenged the universe.
It accepted by sending a man who knew my weaknesses.

Juggernaut is my very first book by K.S. Adkins. Since I’ve read it a month ago, I’ve pick up some of the author’s other books, and I can now tell you Juggernaut is different from her normal books. It’s much funnier, I would even call it a Romantic Comedy. And the best part? Lots of the funny scenes throughout the story actually happened to the author or her friends (no, she doesn’t tell who did what…). I love Juggernaut, a story about love, not only for your guy but also for your best friends.
Taylor loves her life. She loves her work as an event planner and her free time she spends with her three best friends. They’ve named their tight group ‘The SHIT’ years ago (after their initials) and now they’re getting close to 40 the girls still love to party and unleash their inner bad-asses. Especially Taylor, who wears the nickname Juggernaut with pride. All in all, Taylor doesn’t need a man to complete her, she can take care of herself and when she needs to she can hook up with a cool guy. But deep down Taylor wants a Mister Right… Too bad she already knows him and that he doesn’t like her at all.
Evander is the opposite of Taylor; he’s in control and doesn’t let himself go easily. Meeting Taylor has been an eye-opener for him. She’s completely different from his usual choice of women, but he can’t get her out of his mind. Evander is a confident man, but around Taylor he seems to turn stupid and doesn’t know what to say. With the help of some meddling best friends he finally goes after her. But Taylor isn’t easily convinced…
Taylor and Evander have known each other for some time now, but they don’t talk. Taylor thinks Evander is an arrogant ass and Evander… Well, he seems to be a bit intimidated by Juggernaut Taylor. But when they finally start talking, it turns out the other person is more normal than expected. Although they’re so different, Taylor and Evander just work. Both are a bit older and know what they want in life, there’s no place for girly insecurities and teenage drama (for the most part). I just love this couple!
Juggernaut is much more than just the story of Taylor and Evander finding their happy. Yes, their building relationship is a major part of the book, but it’s also very much about friendship. I love Taylor and her small group of friends. They have each other’s back and help out where they can. Ok, meddling is a part of it too, but who doesn’t want the best for the people they love? I love the author’s no-nonsense writing style and the voices she gives her characters, it feels real.
I love Taylor, Evander and their story, plain and simple! I give Juggernaut 5 stars.

Five hilarious stars!!
So, I'm giving this book 5 stars as I enjoyed the storyline and laughed so very many times at the antics of Taylor and her friends. They were FUNNY!! Books that make me LOL are my favourite to read.
Juggernaut is the story of the nearing forty Taylor and her group of friends, otherwise known as the : ( read the capitals down for the name of the group )
S - for sugar
H - for Hillary
I - for India
T - for Taylor
I love that everyone knew and referred to the girls by this name. Taylor is also nicknamed The Juggernaut as once she picks up speed she destroys everything in her path - she loves to party and let loose. Juggernaut is mainly about Taylor and Evander ( also known as Van to Taylor ). Evander has admired her from afar, and longed to be with Taylor for 2 years. Unfortunately Taylor was under the impression that Evander disliked her. With a little bit of help, Evander sets out to win over the woman he so dearly wants. The other ladies play very strong roles in the story as well. I definitely wasn't a fan of Hillary - but she grew on me a little by the end.

One of my favorite tv shows is Sex and the City because at the core of the story is a powerful friendship what can overcome everything. Now, you may wonder what that has to do with a book review.
The answer is simple; this book feels like a trip down memory lane, like SATC in the late nineties. It may be a unlikely love story between Taylor and Evander, but it is also a love letter to the friends who have stood by you through thick and thin.
The writing is different and fast-paced, which is due to the author author writing like she talks. It kinda feels like the book is being told to you instead of read by you. These women are a sisterhood you want to be a part of. They are all pushing 40 and yet still behaving like they are in their twenties, but their over the top antics make you fall in love with every one of them instantly. All the while you can recognize all 4 different women to the girls in your posse. They are that relatable.
Now, as I said in the beginning, this is an unusual romance because it is not just about Van's wish for Taylor to love him. It is about Taylor teaching Van to love, love who he is and where he comes from. But mostly it is about accepting someone else and the differences that set us apart, and yet we love the beauty someone else's chaos can bring. But there is something else that brings this book to another level while tackling these heavy subjects, and that's the humor it is written with.
I had tears running down my face from laughing based on the details some of the scenes were described with.
All this has ensured this book is on my list as a "top read of 2017". It is an epic 6 star read and it will leave you with a serious book hangover.

Juggernaut is a story about growing old in age, but staying young at heart. It’s a story about the family you choose and the sisterhood that forms between that family. It’s about finding love when and where you least expect it. It’s a story that will make you laugh so hard you cry, leaving you with a smile and a warmth in your heart.

Taylor, aka The Juggernaut, and her three best friends, also referred to as the SHIT (for their initials), are a force to be reckoned with. Their antics are infamous, and even though they are all approaching 40, that hasn’t slowed them down a bit. All successful, they are strong, independent, and fiercely loyal women; especially Taylor, our heroine. She is the one the group leans on the most, and the one who has had the most exploits. Going through men like crazy, she is convinced that she must find THE ONE who won’t want to change her wild ways, but will accept her as she is, chaos and all.
“The four of us simply need the closeness. Yes, we drive each other nuts, but that’s what sisters do. Even at our worst, I wouldn’t trade this, ever.”
Taylor is the type of heroine you wish was your BFF in real life. She is amazing and I fell totally in love with her character. There isn’t anything she wouldn’t do or sacrifice for her girls. She is a total badass, never backing down from a fight. I admired her and her total abandon to just enjoy life, not caring what others think. I wish I was more like her.
“How do I make the woman who hates me understand I think she’s the most amazing woman I have ever met?”
Evander, aka Van, is our hero and he is the opposite of Taylor in every way. Reserved, quiet, and basically an a-hole to those around him. Taylor and his interactions have been frosty at best, but that is all about to change. To say it didn’t take long to for me to fall for him would be an understatement. There is so much more to him than what others see, and Taylor is just the person to bring out his other side. He is sweet, romantic, and HOT. His love for Taylor is so pure, he would do anything for her.
I loved everything about this book. It has humor, heart, with a beautiful romance weaved throughout. If you agree that woman are fabulous at any age and should never grow up, then I think you will love this one as much as I did. It is so much more than a romance, it’s a true tribute to women and the ties that bind us.

I picked this paperback up at Great Lakes Book Bash in October of 2017. Why did I grab it? Well, I heard it was based on a true story. I love books based on true stories. I dove in right after I finished Weeds of Detroit, and I gobbled this book up just as quickly. Anyone who calls their circle of friends "The Sh*t" is someone I want to see into the mind of. It's awesome how books give you that ability. Anyway, let's get to the review!
From a Reader's Perspective:
Oh, where to start? Maybe that I identified with one of the characters right off the bat? Our MC is named Taylor (aka The Juggernaut), and she's a firecracker. Outspoken, brash, and tougher than a box of finishing nails, this lady's antics will leave you with your jaw hanging. But that wasn't the best thing about her. No. She's also fiercely loyal. That was the trait that had me rooting for her through the whole book. Loyalty is everything to me, and Taylor has it in spades. I wanted her to get the guy, and I needed her to have a happily ever after. That's the tantamount of a great read, in my opinion, and "Juggernaut" knocked it out of the park.
As far as flow, the book did a great job of going from A to Z without meandering along the way. There were a few stories on the side in there, but I felt they were necessary to show Taylor's personality, the friend group dynamic, and how much she'd be willing to sacrifice for someone else.
There's not a lot of flowery stuff in this book. It gets right to the point (which I love), and world-building was done in a direct way. I could see the scenes in my head, but I didn't get bogged down in details.
Pacing was right on the mark. It starts a little slow, with just enough to hook you, and then it takes you on a wild ride to the end. There was never a time I wanted it to speed up or slow down.
From an Editor's Perspective:
There were several typos and grammatical errors, but the story was so dang good, I was able to ignore them after a while. If you're a stickler for this kind of thing, you'll need to turn that off. I can only give half a star for editing.

1 Star for world building
1 Star for pacing

Juggernaut begins with four friends and their lives. But, the one friend who seems to never settle down, and is constantly wild, finally gets a man who seems to hate her, but is trying to win her over. She doesn't understand why he's doing this, and he's just trying to make her his no matter how he does.
This book was filled with hilarious scenes, some sad, some happy, and some downright odd, but that's the beauty of this book, it's not normal. The relationship between Van and Taylor is awesome.
But, the relationship between Taylor and her four friends is utterly amazing! I could only dream of having friends like this, and it's wonderful to read about them.
I'm look forward to more from this author because she did it again with this awesome book that will hook with the first line, and you will sink the rest of the way through the book!

4.5 Stars - Hilariously crazy and sometimes prone to illegal activity, these friends and the men who love them make the perfect group. While I cringed at some of the things they said and did, I was all in. I would love to be a part of The Shit (literally named for the 4 ladies, Sugar, Hillary, India, and Taylor) or at least have my own version of it. Don't get me wrong, I have some close friends who probably want to scream at me for the overabundance of information they receive about my sex life, but they aren't quite as open and adventurous as these ladies. This book will have you laughing, falling in love, rolling your eyes, and wanting to slap a b*%#&. It's the ultimate romantic comedy. However, if you are easily offended by outspoken and sexually liberated women, excessive drinking, smoking pot, fist fights, strippers, lesbians, and lots and lots of dialogue, this is not the book for you. If you're cool (like me), you'll dive in and have the time of your life.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I thought it was going to be more like a diary of events about Taylor and her three friends. Fortunately, it's much more than that. Juggernaut is a testament to true and lasting friendship, love beyond reason and judgment, and finding your soul mate. I was happy when I got a couple of chapters in and realized that we would get another point of view from Evander (a.k.a. Van), the guy who was completely infatuated with Taylor. He seemed to be a throwback to the buttoned-up, straight-laced gentlemen who didn't tolerate brash, loud, and sexually adventurous women. However, I quickly caught on that this was not the real Van. Though, he was a bit of a stick-in-the-mud in comparison to everyone around him. But I adored him and his awkwardness. There's so much I would love to discuss in regard to Van, but you'll just have to read to find out for yourself. The same should be said for Taylor. She's someone who needs no introduction. She has no inhibitions, lives freely, loves fiercely, defends without regard to consequences, and is truly selfless in providing support and granting wishes. You can't help but love her.
One of the most important qualities that Taylor and Van both had, was that they accepted others for who they were. This was especially necessary in their case. Van needed Taylor to see that he wasn't stuck up and egotistical. And Van wasn't going to get anywhere with Taylor if he couldn't embrace her wild juggernaut ways. Many had tried and failed... The author did a great job of giving these characters depth and staying true to their personalities. They never conformed or suppressed who they were for anyone. I would've hated it if they changed for each other.
I'm a huge fan of the fake fiancé trope, especially when it's done well. Taylor and Van had a real connection and made it clear from the start that they were interested in more from each other. And while they struggled at times to believe their feelings were reciprocated, they didn't hold back or dwell too much on what wasn't or might not be. This book was low on angst if not the drama, because there was plenty of that in regard to the secondary characters. Don't let that scare you away though; it wasn't too much or unnecessary. Plus, you'll like where it all ends up. I was pleased with how the author continued Van and Taylor's story beyond the initial HEA. It is rare to see that in the main story line; it's usually only given in the form of an epilogue. This was a fabulous and entertaining read, and I'm looking forward to reading what more K.S. Adkins has in store for us.

This book started out really good. Really funny friendship banter but then it just took a nose dive and I was only 20% into it. It just really lost me. There were scenes where I was thinking "Yea Friggin RIGHT!" Like the belt scene. I loved the fun banter between the ladies of S.H.I.T but GOD it became so ridiculous, like scanning to the next 10% of the pages ridiculous. And the parts with the parents was SOOOOO f**king stupid. Sorry, maybe i'm the minority here, but didn't like the book.

LOL good times rolling along. There was a point where a mc bullied a child that I couldn't condone, when much had been made about her own unhappy youth. I hope the author can avoid those scenes in her future novels as she is a funny writer and I would like to read more of her books. I could see Harley Quinn [Margot Robbie] starring in the mc roll!

3.5*** This was a solid 4 stars for me until 2/3 of the way through when it just started feeling like it was dragging. I don't like when there's one obstacle after another just to extend a story and that's what it started to feel like. I really enjoyed the first 2/3 though.

LOL FUNNY
I seriously loved this book! I can't remember the last time a book made me smile and laugh this much. I loved these girls, and this story had the perfect amount of ups and downs. And yes, Whitney really is crazy.

The Girl group was a phenomenal bunch. I loved their dynamics even though are all completely different. Love, understanding, and craziness such as these four could only ever be felt through all with that type of bond. I laughed so hard I cried, and ran for the toilet so I wouldn't soil myself. Definitely worth the wait and time to read each detail that created a beautiful and absolutely outlandish fun.

3.5☆ This book was amusing and I liked the characters, even though they were rather over the top. I felt that the story was overly long with a lot of pointless dialogue and could have been condensed. There were also quite a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes which I don't like to see.

Lordy Lordy look who is forty! In true K.S. Atkins' style, Juggernaut takes readers on a hilarious journey of Taylor St. James who is almost forty. Even as fiction, it rings true to turning forty. I smiled, I laughed, and I cried as I related to some of the feelings of being forty.
"The transition from our thirties to forty is difficult for each of us in different ways. Because no matter how much we fight it, we are getting older." So very true...but Taylor had her girls rock it out!
Taylor is in many ways how I imagine K.S. to be. A gorgeous sweetheart with a hard as nails exterior. Someone who loves living life. Life she rocks out down her own path until Evander. Where she stands he sits...where he stops she goes. Her true match. Opposites attract right? You will have to read to find out.
I recommend Juggernaut to any reader of romantic comedy! If you are a fan of K.S. Adkins, this is an absolute must read! This books screams K.S. The sarcasm and wit of K.S. Adkins is so genuine in this book. It had me smiling from the very beginning.

started reading and thought the author was a little over the top with her characters, but further into the book they became more likeable to me. First time I've read anything from this author. Ended up loving it, wishing I had a group of friends like this.
