Brilliantly hot Matt Cannon doesn't mind his "boy wonder" nickname. At twenty-eight, he may be the youngest--and richest--broker at his firm, but the constant string of women in his bed know he's all man. When Matt's boss insists he clean up his image to land a potential investor, Matt knows just the woman to pose as his girlfriend.Sabrina Cross is Wall Street's go-to "fixer"--a chameleon of a woman who can be anything, to any man, for any reason, with just one rule: no touching. Matt and Sabrina have always been like oil and water, but their new arrangement lights a match to the animosity and leads to something altogether hotter.

I keep falling more and more in love with this author’s writing. This book is fun, sweet, and leaves you hoping and begging for a happy ending. We met both Matt & Sabrina in book one of this series, however if you haven’t read book 1, it isn’t necessary but I am sure you’ll love it, this is a stand-alone read 🙃

Getting this story on Matt & Sabrina, I was quite excited. Matt is partners in the Wall Street Firm, Wolfe Investments, with Ian (book 1). Ian is lifelong best friends with Sabrina. Matt & Sabrina hook up (friends with benefits) throughout the 4 years they’ve known each other. Both, Matt & Sabrina don’t believe in love, they don’t believe in romance nor neither want a happily ever after. So what happens when Matt needs Sabrina’s help to make it look like he’s in a committed relationship. Can they both pretend and not get emotionally involved, keep love out of the their relationship? Is it possible when they both want each other yet they hide feelings for each other, oh and neither want any commitment?

“I want you because you’re my mortal enemy, Sabrina.”
“Why”
His eyes lock on mine. “Because of all the women in my life, you’re the one I can count on to never fall in love with me.”

To call this a friends to lovers novel wouldn’t be right, It’s kinda of like a enemies to lovers book, okay not that either. It is more like a Frenemies to lovers book — Yes! One you don’t want to miss. It’s full of sexiness, lots of sass, and a heck of undeniable love.

Definitely a charming, unique, and layered book. Pick it up upon release day❤️

He kisses me, and I forget everything. Our messy past, his parents, the stupid contract, the fighting. There’s only him, only us.

I expected HARD SELL to be another typical ”enemies-to-lovers” romance. I happen to enjoy this trope and there isn’t anything that I wouldn’t read by Lauren Layne, but I was pleasantly surprised that she added a little twist. While Matt and Sabrina appear to be each other's toughest adversaries, these two have been carrying on a special frenemies’ with benefits relationship for several years.

At first, I wasn’t feeling the chemistry between the main characters and it’s because it took me a while to warm up to Matt. His personality was lackluster at best. I loved Sabrina from the start. She’s a feisty, tough as nails Heroine, but there’s a soft vulnerability underneath all her layers. She had a rough start in life which has caused her to build up walls to protect her heart and it seems the only person who has the ability to break her is Matt.

When Matt and Sabrina are alone, it’s clear that he has a deep affection for her. His family dynamic explains his hesitancy towards love and commitment but it also humanized his character for me. I no longer thought of him as a shallow playboy.

About halfway through the book, I started to connect with the story and felt the chemistry between Matt and Sabrina. I was finally on board with these two possibly riding off into the sunset together.

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4
Heroine: 5
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4

When Big Money is Changing Hands...Image, as well, as Results Matters. When Wolfe Investments comes under the spotlight for sexy lap dances instead of high percentage returns, the man in the pictures comes under fire. The joke is that Matt Cannon had been at a bachelor party trying to mind his own business. He becomes the target of the tabloids and the ire of his bosses.

We met Matt and his other circle of pals in Hot Asset.
He is a man who showed mathematics talents at a very early age, a wunderkind. The numbers float in his mind, showing him patterns that had him not only excelling early but also put him in situations where he may not have had the necessary communication skills needed at the time.

Now he is sitting with his crew, telling them what the head honchos of the firm have told him. His position is in jeopardy because of this "unseemly" publicity and has been directed, not suggested, to get himself a girlfriend, settle down and keep his nose clean. His guys explain he must figure out how to make it all happen... and after all scenarios put out there and shot down...there seems to be only one person to save Matt and his career...

PR genius Sabrina Cross...

Sabrina Cross is well known as the Fixer... you name a situation and she is able to make it go away, turn it around or leverage it to a win.
She has her threads of knowledge of where all the bodies are buried woven through all of the movers and shakers in all industries. She found her niche and has mined it over the years. She has a code of ethics and never reveals the secrets she keeps... which is her power. She will never work with a client who lies to her and she has the ability to be comfortable in five-inch stilettos and bling or on a golf course and cleats.

It was Sabrina who helped out Ian when he had his accusations from the SEC. It was through Ian, the crew has grown to appreciate and know Sabrina. He is the only person Sabrina trusts as they are childhood friends. They share the ugly of their backgrounds and keep it in the past.

But one's past can rear its ugly head when not expected...which brings us to the relationship Matt has with Sabrina...Sparks, verbal daggers, digs, and sexual magnetism is their pattern. When Matt finally realizes Sabrina is the only way he will be able to work through this business need to "have a relationship", he approaches her carefully.

Sabrina knows this is really a bad idea because she and Matt have history... history which causes the two of them to do one of two things when they are together...

They either bicker and fight about everything...

or

They cannot keep their hands, mouths, body parts off each other...

Yes, they had a physical history that went sideways...and have never worked it out, forgiving Matt or actually talking about it. When Matt asks Sabrina to help him, she agrees with one necessary rule...No Touching.

This story has more than the fake fiancee deal. There is the camaraderie between the guys, the women who are part of their lives and how all of them pull together to help each other through whatever is happening. Sabrina reinvented herself to protect herself from the past. This caused her to be personally isolated from true friends other than Ian. With her becoming more involved with this group, she is able to make women friends for the first time...it is new and comforting.

What is also new is the sincere connection between Matt and Sabrina...both are a bit stunned how they are enjoying each other's company...but not surprised at all how they are not enjoying the sex diet.

When they break this diet... man, oh man... they are on fire for each other...

This entry of this 21 Wall Street series felt even stronger than the first. Lauren Layne is working her strengths; she writes excellent friendships, new relationships and weaves them with situations that work. If she were a Stock on the Exchange, I would tell my broker to buy.

The next entry is our conservative, old money, Kennedy Dawson. Ellie Thorton, his shared assistant, has been caring her love for him quietly...I cannot wait for this next book, Huge Deal.

I rec received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love indulging in this author's stories, her characters are so strong and likable and you just want to hang out with them. The Bangor did not disappoint and the pace of the story flowed easily.

This is the second installment from this series and it centers around Matt and Sabrina.

Matt and Sabrina share the same friends but they are not friendly to each other. Matt finds himself in a compromising situation and needs Sabrina's help to get him out of a mess. She reluctantly agrees but they agree that their alliance is temporary and will resume their dislike for each other when Matt is no longer in not water.

But..........they realize that they are attracted to each other but too stubborn to let the other one know. Will they guard their own feelings for a chance at love? This was a fun, easy, breezy story but it also had substance and the dialogue felt authentic to the storyline. I look forward to Late and Kenmedy's storyline.

At 28 Matt Cannon is one of the youngest most successful investment brokers on Wall Street. He’s worked at Wolfe Investments since he was 22, and continued to move up the ranks while making a name for himself. Unfortunately a recent scandal has tarnished that good name and landed him in hot water. The gorgeous golden boys reputation is in jeopardy, and some clients are starting to get a bit anxious. His bosses think he’s in need of an image overhaul, and nothing shouts reformed man like a plus one. They issue an ultimatum to get a girlfriend or a new job. He will do anything to keep the life he loves that he’s worked so hard for, so he decides why not play along till things blow over. He just needs the right woman by his side, to save his job. He picks the one woman who can’t stand him. The one he knows would never fall for him, so there’s no risk of emotional entanglements. Sabrina Cross is the perfect woman to play the part.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-I'd never have thought that Sabrina Cross could have a calming quality. From the very beginning, she's always been the fuel that lights my flame, the spark that sets me on fire.

-I'll be able to pretend, even if it really is pretending, that she's mine. Only mine.

-The hardest thing is going to be keeping my hands off the only woman I've ever wanted.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sabrina Cross is the queen of PR. She has connections and is known as the fixer. She handles the messy stuff people get themselves into. She’s one of the most powerful women in Manhattan. She’s polished, beautiful, and good at her job. True love isn’t her thing, and marriage has never been part of her life’s plan. She’s happily single and always in control. The one exception to that rule is Matt Cannon. He gets under her skin and knows just how to annoy her. They run in the same social circle, and she hates she finds him so attractive. On occasion her desire for this man has overruled her common sense. Now he needs her and seems to think she’s the only person he can trust to help him out of a bind. He wants her to pretend to be a couple to save his career, and make everyone believe their in love. Neither do relationships so this should be easy. Wrong! Soon things begin to feel too real, and something deeper develops. Priorities shift as everything changes between them as they both realize they want more.

This was a fabulous frenemies to lovers romance full of sexual tension and angst about two people who are cynical about love that figure out they want the fairytale after all. It was funny, sexy, and packed with intimacy, emotion, and love.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-He's everything I need that I didn't know I wanted.

-My body? Wants him. Always.

-I've tried to find the same elusive pleasure with someone else, but nobody makes me feel as cherished as he does. Even through the anger, the frustration- or maybe because of those feelings- Matt Cannon's hands on me deliver a sort of pleasure that's somehow both soothing and earth-shattering.

-The way he makes me feel has always made me want to run. But not anymore. Now I want to... stay.

I love a good enemies to lovers trope. However, this one took it a step further and gave me an enemies with benefits story that I couldn’t help but gobble up in record time. Sabrina and Matt were just too electrifying when together and it’s obvious that they either had to argue or screw because of their intense chemistry. And so, for the past four years they’ve had one volatile relationship. It was actually quite charming in a fun masochistic way.

Matt’s background was bizarre enough to warp any young man but Sabrina’s was horrifyingly tragic. Yet, watching these two together was pure enjoyment because despite their reasons for not believing in love, you know that’s exactly what’s going to happen if it hasn’t already. It’s just a matter of time before they become aware of it.

The banter between this couple was fun and witty, sarcastic and sharp but definitely them in their truest form. They were an original hero and heroine unlike any I’ve read before. While Sabrina was strong, successful and independent, Matt was casual and laid back, a bit carefree in spite of his work ethic. He also turned out to be an amazing jealous, possessive hero and was given the perfect set up to prove it. I would have loved him for sure in that moment if I hadn’t already.

I think this is a pretty fast paced read but because once I started I didn’t stop, I can’t say for sure because, you know…gobbling. The characters from the first book make a reappearance but you won’t feel lost if you don’t read it. This one can certainly stand alone. I do love the additional characters and I’m just so freaking antsy to get to Kennedy’s story.

The very end felt a bit rushed but everything leading up to it was perfect. I’m not sure what more I wanted, because the epilogue was sweet and highlighted this couple’s dynamic. I think I just wanted more of Sabrina and Matt and was disappointed to see them go. At least until they revisit in the next book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Montlake. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I loved this book! This is the second book in the 21 Wall street series, but it can be read as a standalone, as I did. This is my first Lauren Layne book, but it definitely won't be my last. I actually think my next read will be the first book in the series, hopefully it's as great as this one.

To be completely honest, this story isn't groundbreaking. We've all read a similar plot before- two people who hate each other (but are secretly attracted to each other) have to pretend to be in a relationship for some reason (in this case to save the reputation and career of the H). Spending lots of "fake" time together they realize, wait...maybe they don't hate each other? You see where this is going. BUT, this is a GREAT example of a novel not needing to be groundbreaking to be AMAZING. Sometimes all you need is great writing, catchy dialogue, well developed characters, and steamy chemistry. We get all of that and more in Matt and Sabrina's story.

I can't say enough great things about this book. It is a fun, easy read that left me feeling happy and excited for the next book in this series. I would definitely recommend it!

We already met Matt Cannon in Ian's book. He's one of our three very successful broker's at Wolfe's on Wall Street. But his idiot cousin's bachelor weekend in Vegas ends with him in the Wall Street Journal - and it's not a nice article! His bosses tell him he has to grow up and stop the partying and drinking ... and to get himself a girlfriend! Or better yet - a soon-to-be fiancée - to look good in front of the clients at the company gala in a month!

Enter Sabrina. She's Ian's best friend from way back - and she's also Matt's sometime hook-up. They're hugely attracted to each other ... but she's also the person who hates him most in the world. And he can't stand her either.

But she'll take the job as his girlfriend, because that's what she does professionally. No, she's not an escort. She's a 'fixer'. And poor Matt really needs her ...

Let the fun times begin!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO SABRINA & MATT??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

3.5 Frienimies to Lovers Stars

Matt is a Wall Street wiz kid and he has just been caught in a precarious situation at a bachelor party by a reporter for the Wall Street Journal. He needs to fix his reputation fast, before his clients start jumping ship and there is no better way to do that then to seem like he is in a committed relationship.

Sabrina is the best fixer in town. If you have a problem she knows how to make it go away. She has known Matt for a few years, they even seem to end up in bed together from time to time. It’s not friends with benefits by any means. Matt gets under her skin and it is more like enemies with benefits. This makes her perfect for the role of fake girlfriend.
“And you think that’s me? Your mortal enemy?”
“I want you because you’re my mortal enemy, Sabrina.”
“Why?” His eyes lock on mine. “Because of all the women in my life, you’re the one I can count on to never fall in love with me.”

It is so simple or at least it should be there should be no way that anything becomes of this. But spending time together not fighting is making each see the other in a new light and they just might be more perfect for each other than either knew.
Hell, to be completely honest, I don’t know that he was ever my worst enemy, so much as my biggest threat. The person who I sensed, even from the very beginning, could destroy me. What I didn’t see until recently was how the person with the power to destroy you can also be the one to lift you up.

This a cute enemies to lovers tale and I liked getting into the history of both individuals to see why they have avoided each other until now. Matt’s reluctance for a relationship because of his childhood and current family situation completely made sense.

This is exactly the kind of story I expect for Lauren Layne and she is still my go to for contemporary romance since I know it will be a great blend of cute and funny.

I’m still waiting for Kennedy and Kate to figure out their situation, hopefully that book is next.

Thank you Montlake Romance for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Our next couple in the 21 Wall Street series are Matt Cannon and Sabrina Cross. We've seen these two in the previous book and they intrigued me ever since. I knew their chemistry will be explosive and it's no surprise I'll enjoy this... A LOT.

Hard Sell is a frenemies-to-lovers book and the youngest broker of Wall Street is in trouble. Matt's reputation is tainted after a bachelor party in Las Vegas and headlining on newspapers. His clients are wary which caught his bosses' attention. To fix his troubles, he asked his frenemy, Sabrina, to be his fake girlfriend and convince his clients he's a committed man. However, they had a deal wherein their arrangement is professional: No hookups and no falling in love with each other.

*Sighs* I'm enticed on Matt and Sabrina's relationship. They're so compatible and I can't help swooning. They may be cynical with each other but their chemistry? FIREWORKS. I love their constant bickering and sexual tension. Both of them have problematic parents making them commitment-phobe and in spite of their issues both characters are independent, career driven and strong-willed.

It's only Sabrina who can put up with Matt and remorseless call him out. She got the sass and toughness I love in a heroine. She helps everyone but fears falling in love with Matt because it might be unrequited. I'm sorry Ian but Matt dethrones you as my favorite hero in the series. I love him and the only thing I dislike is when he took time for him to profess his love for Sabrina. Just a minor setback. The ending almost tear me up when he redeemed himself.

I'll definitely read more Lauren Layne's books. I'm starting to love her novels and I can't wait for the final book because it's about Kate and Kennedy. I'm betting it'll give me lots of feels.

Final rating: 4.5 / 5 stars

What happens in Vegas…

First up, I have to say that I love the cover model’s outfit. Men around the world are probably cringing and shuddering at me calling a suit an outfit but it’s the whole package, not just the suit. I love the crisp white shirt, tie, vest and jacket. It helps that that it’s mostly in tones of blue contrasting against the white. Sure, the cover model is good looking, but his outfit completely distracted me from his looks. I love seeing a man in a suit but unfortunately, the chance of me getting hubby to dress up like this…slim to none.

So, a man in a suit is a BIG selling point for me. Luckily, Hard Sell gave me my suit porn and a great storyline. I’m loving the 21 Wall Street (still singing 21 Jump Street's theme song every time I read that) series and meeting the men behind the big money deals. Meeting the women in their lives have been an extra treat. These are intelligent, successful and determined women and they’re not going to just settle for money and a pretty face. It’s refreshing to love the heroines as much as the heroes, to be honest.

In Hard Sell, our couple of the moment is Matt and Sabrina who we met in Hot Asset. These two characters clash so we know from the beginning it’s not going to be all hearts and flowers. What we haven’t learnt up until now is why they clash. Sure, it’s a little frustrating that we have to wait to know, but we need to see where they came from and how they got here. When the truth comes out, you can’t help but feel a little battered from the blow that was unknowingly dealt.

Matt’s got himself in a bit of hot water when he’s filmed partying hard in Vegas. As per usual, the media has sensationalised it more than warranted which has unfortunately left Matt’s bosses very unhappy. It’s time for Matt to clean up his act…CALL IN THE FIXER-UPPERER!!

Sabrina can fix anything…well just about anything. It’s going to take all her skills to clean up Matt’s act seeing as she can’t stand him…most of the time (wink, wink). Well, it's more that she’s completely frustrated by his arrogant ways. Sabrina commits to helping Matt, but, only on her terms.

I really enjoyed Hard Sell. I loved seeing the working dynamics of these men and how Matt’s calculator brain got him to his level of success at such a young age. The connection between Matt and Sabrina jumped off the pages and the sexy scenes were HOT! Seeing Matt with Ian and Kennedy is mostly funny mixed with admiration for their support and closeness with each other. Each of their interactions with Kate (their shared secretary) is always one of the best parts of the story. When Kate, Lara (Ian’s fiancé) and Sabrina are together, it’s completely natural and something I recognised in my own friendship group. Wine and cheese are always good for female bonding.

I can’t wait for more in the 21 Wall Street (sing it with me now) series. Sure, I would love to see Kennedy and Kate together…but only if he loosens up a little. I’m kind of hoping that Jarod Lanham who we've just met, does his rich, manly matchmaker routine again. Or, maybe it’s supposed to be Kate and Jarod together forever…???

Stacey is Sassy, received a complimentary copy of this story. The copy provided is not the final copy and may be subject to edits and changes.

In her second 21 Wall Street novel, Lauren Layne takes readers on a witty, sexy slow burn journey about a hot shot broker and the woman hired to tone down his wild party image.
At twenty-eight Matt Cannon thought he had everything he ever dreamed of. He’s rich, smart, and looks that guarantee he’s in no shortage of female attention. But when a Las Vegas bachelor party gets a bit too wild and on the Wall Street Journal headlines, his bosses give him an ultimatum that will not only make him clean up but also rethink his priorities and view on commitment, because the only person who can help him is also the only woman he’s ever wanted.

Sabrina Cross is the most sought after PR fixer in Manhattan, so repairing Matt’s faux par should be a piece of cake, except the two of them have history, hot enemies-with-benefits history. But Sabrina has a solution for that as well. No benefits while she’s playing to be Matt’s pretend dotting girlfriend. Will they cross the line and put their hearts in danger when neither is looking of a happily ever after?

Both Matt and Sabrina are attractive characters that pull you into their lives and story. They’re both strong and independent, with a cynical view on love because of their dysfunctional family lives while growing up. And when it comes to one another, they’re blinded by fear.

The secondary characters Layne has developed in this series feel like old friends and are equally alluring. They’re loyal and supportive and perfectly compliment the main couple’s story. I can’t wait to read the next book and hope for more.

Lauren Layne has long been a fixture in my reading library with her well-paced stories expertly balanced with delightful wit, sizzling chemistry, delightful characters and a lighthearted plot. Hard Sell was a fun, delicious escape about two people who had found their person years back but hadn’t realized it.

Hard Sell is book #2 of the 21 Wall Street series by Lauren Layne. It is a standalone, contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a happily ending, no cliffhanger.

I might not have loved HARD SELL but this particular hate-to-love or, rather, enemies-to-more was closer to the kind of story I've loved from this author in the past.. and that's not just because we had a Georgie Watkins (WALK OF SHAME) cameo; though I'll admit I totally fangirled at seeing her in this one, haha.

I've been thinking the hardest part of this whole thing will be faking being in love when I don't even believe in love. Now I know better. The hardest thing is going to be keeping my hands off the only woman I've ever wanted.

The second in Layne's 21 Wall Street series pairs up the wonder boy of Wall Street, Matt Cannon, with Ian (book one's)'s bestie, Sabrina Cross, who happens to be a very successful fixer.. and someone Matt can't stand. Luckily for him the feeling is mutual. They both loathe each other, bicker, and have routinely fallen into bed together over the course of their four year acquaintance. But this time when Matt comes calling at Sabrina's door, it isn't for a passionate but hate-fueled hook-up.. it's because he needs a girlfriend to help remake his image after a bachelor party gone wild in Vegas has Matt's picture splashed all over the Wall Street Journal, causing clients to wonder just who they are trusting with their money.

"How's the Sabrina thing been going?"
"I'm exhausted."
"It's only been two days."

Yes, it's another fake-relationship romance, but I am not complaining. Throw in the reluctant lover trope and it's catnip city.

"You're late."
"Does anybody like you?"

While there were elements to this story that were different spins of traditional tropes (Matt's reluctant to be in a relationship because of his parents circumstances but it's not entirely predictable, and Sabrina's reason for holding onto a grudge or being sensitive to certain comments come from a very real place in her past), I didn't love this match-up. But I liked it. Infact, I really loved Sabrina. She was smart, successful, with a bit of a hard knock past but one that did not define her in the sense that she brooded constantly or bemoaned it. She rose above it, despite it, and while aspects had affected her life in ways that pertained to intimacy, she wasn't above evolving from it, either. Unlike Matt. I know we have to one reluctant schmuck in this kind of situation but ugh he was obtuse. And also, on occasion, really thoughtless with his words. He was better when it came to expressing himself with his actions but then he'd fuck it up later or backtrack, so, I mean.. only a little better.

"You could use a challenge. Builds character."
"Right. As though you haven't bee a challenge from the very beginning."

Where this book, outside of Sabrina as a lead, really worked for me was the friendships. Like her previous series, Layne rocks the female friendships and the male friendships. The coming together, the support, the bickering, it's all great.

What I didn't see until recently was how the person with the power to destroy you can also be the one to lift you up.

I'm glad I enjoyed this one more than book one because I'm eagerly anticipating the final (?) book in this series to match up Kennedy, the last man standing in this trio of reluctant romantics, and Kate, the super awesome assistant. I want it bad. I want so badly for it to be good. Here's hoping.

5 'Love negotiations' Stars!
ARC provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Can I just say, once again, that I am addicted to Lauren Layne's novels? Yes, I seem a broken record because I keep loving everything this woman writes. Yes, she did it again. I rated Hot Asset, the first in this series, with 5 stars also. So as you can see, I enjoyed Hard Sell just as much. An amazing frenemies-to-lovers romance that made me laugh, swoon and feel all the emotions. I thought Matt and Sabrina had something amazing going on when I first read about them and I am so glad I wasn't wrong.

So, Hard Sell is the second installment in the 21 Wall Street series by Lauren Layne and this time the story is focused on Matt Cannon and Sabrina Cross. Matt is the youngest in the three sexy suits we have in the series, he is very successful and he kind of messed up his reputation with news on a crazy night in Las Vegas. Who is about to rescue him and help him restore his image faking to be a loving girlfriend? His frenemy Sabrina, of course. This two have a weird, full of sexual tension relationship. And that gets even more tense when Sabrina imposes a "no hook-ups" rule. But no one is able to fight against explosive chemistry, right? Even more.. against love?

Matt’s entire life is a game. So is mine.
Only this one we’re playing together, which makes it all the more dangerous.

As with everything between us, though, sex is a war, and Matt’s determined to win this battle.

I ADORED EVERY SINGLE WORD IN THIS BOOK. Yes, I am shouting it all over the place. I don't know how Lauren does it but the majority of her books just click with me and my tastes in light romance. I love having a great list of characters, I love an entertaining storyline, I love a couple that tries to fight against feelings and isn't able to and I love a good dose of sexiness and emotions. Hard Sell has everything I just mentioned. Sabrina and Matt have this very especial connection. A connection that works oh-so-well. There is not an ounce of hate between them but there surely are lots of other feelings in the mix. And I loved every single moment of them in this love story. These two are burning hot and simply fantastic together. And their ending.. GAH! I am still swooning and melting!

The way he makes me feel has always made me want to run.
But not anymore. Now I want to... stay.

Therefore, I am rating Hard Sell with 5 STARS because Lauren just keeps surprising me with the creation of all these outstanding couples and their love stories. I am a fan of the whole 21 Wall Street crew and Sabrina and Matt did not disappoint with their story. I am just a huge fan of light romance but full with great characters, friendship, love and sexiness. I loved this couple and the development of their story, I loved their chemistry and their HEA. And I cannot wait to read the third book too (Kennedy and Kate, oh yeah!). Again, highly recommend!

Romantic comedy, an enemies to lovers story and book two of the series.
Lighthearted and easy reading.🌞
Lauren Layne does this style of rom-com so well. She had me thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
I have noticed that her books always seem to be full of attractive characters, the pretty people, no plain Jane's but I couldn't care less about that fact as they are so engaging and simply fun to read .💕
Matt and Sabrina were explosive 💣💥together whether they were flirting or fighting .
I liked this story a lot. 🌼
Now, I am really looking forward to reading the next book "Huge Deal" and finally getting Kate and Kennedy's story. I loved all the glimpses we get of these two characters in the first couple of books, so I have very high hopes for this romance.
This is DEFINITELY one of her best series, my other favorite being the AMAZING "Love Unexpectedly" series.

COMING OUT TOMORROW!
Matt Cannon, one of the best brokers of Wall Street, needs to clean his act. Being caught in the middle of a lap dance is not exactly what his clients like to see when they open the Wall Street Journal. So, either he turns into a one-woman kind of man, or he’s fired. Simple as that. Now the question is, who’s going to pretend to be his girlfriend? He needs someone to look the part but have no expectations of some kind when it comes to his feelings. Or the lack of them. And there’s only one woman who fits the bill. Sabrina Cross. The woman who, even though trustworthy, has been hating his guts for the last four years and will never fall in love with him. Right?

“When I first met Sabrina Cross, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
Four years later?
I still think it.”

About Matt, do blond hair and blue eyes do it for you? Because if so, you’re in for a treat!

one thing is sure and that is that Lauren Layne has many same characters, plotlines, and even series..
I may have read a lot of her books...but still, I have this feeling of just reading( or listening) the same old story..which doesn't have to be a bad thing, we ( the readers) enjoy comfort or knowing what to expect...But..aaaaahhh yeah there is a but...when to say enough...when even "if is not broken don't fix it" is just annoying saying...

I liked this one better than the previous book...still looking for that one book in the series that will blow me away...there is still one book left so..there is a chance that will be the one...

I like when an author can surprise me and LL definitely surprised me when it came to Matt and Sabrina. I’ll be honest, their love/hate relationship with benefits sounded like a drama ridden train wreck but I liked Hot Asset (book 1) and I really want to find out what the deal is between Kennedy and Ellie. I was looking at this read as a means to an end but I’m happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how this all unfolded. With each encounter, the MCs revealed a bit more of themselves and I ended up really like both Matt and Sabrina. The push and pull and that bit of angst thrown in was well done and kept me glued to the story.

The blurb pretty much gives you’re the whole premise of the story. Matt’s bosses want him to tone down his playboy ways and basically show a reformed man to appease their clients. Sabrina is the only woman he knows that can guarantee she can play the role of respectable girlfriend and not fall in love with him.

Problem with that is that Matt doesn’t really hate Sabrina and Sabrina doesn’t really hate Matt. A misunderstanding from their past has been a barrier to keep the other away for years but now that they are actually getting along and spending time together – time where they’re not delivering razor sharp insults and sarcasm - and pretty soon their full proof plan to remain strictly business gets blurred.

This was way more entertaining than I thought it would be and I’m glad I gave it a chance. Not only did I continue the series, I didn’t miss out on any teasers of Kennedy and Ellie! Bonus points to the author for introducing Jared Lanham. He is another character I hope we get to see more of. Hot billionaire bachelor looking to find a companion to share his life with? Yes, please! His take on marriage and companionship was enough to reel me in.

Memorable Moments: I have one good and one bad . . .
The Good: I loved the epilogue. I loved seeing Sabrina and Matt so happy together and talking of babies and plans for their future as a family was really cute. The group of friends they have was the icing on the cake.

The Bad: I’ve said it before but side stories can be real mood killers. In this case, Matt’s parents and their weird marriage in name only was off putting. To break it down, Matt’s parents were once in love but then over the years they both just stopped? His mother now has countless affairs and his father has been having an affair with his secretary/assistant for 10-15 years. This OW comes to the family home, vacations with them and is there for every major holiday and everyone knows she is the mistress but just turn a blind eye. Everyone is okay with this weird Jerry Springer arrangement because his parents don’t believe/wont to divorce. It was weird and left a bad taste in my mouth. All I kept thinking was if I was Sabrina, I wouldn’t want these nut jobs anywhere near my kids. Ever.

Would I recommend? Yes, this series is turning out to be really good. For the safety gang this might be border line. I’d say it was safe with exceptions.

“I’m not in panic over my love for her. On the contrary, loving Sabrina might just be the most sane, smartest thing I’ve ever done. I love her. I love her more than anything.”

I’ve been reading a lot of books by this author lately and this one has become one of my favorite books by her.

This book has everything I like in a book. I liked these characters from the moment I read their scenes in ‘Hot Asset’. In that book they have an enemies to lovers vibe and I am a sucker for that trope, so I knew I was going to love them.

I loved how this book was written. It was light and fun. I loved Sabrina and Matt, I loved their fights, their chemistry, the cute moments.

The thing I love the most about this author is something that you can always expect: a strong friendship between the characters. Every time I start a book by this author, the thing I look forward to reading the most is the friendship between the characters.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were fantastic, the plot was really fun, there was never a moment when I was bored, I laughed a lot while a lot while reading it and this book also had fake dating.

I really can’t wait to read more books by this author. This is the third series I've read by her and so far I haven’t been disappointed. If you are in the mood to read for something light and fun, I can recommend you any her books.

Enemies to Lovers.....Matt and Sabrina’s story was perfectly executed. They had quick and sassy banter, good friends who supported and loved them, and an intense connection that neither had ever really voiced to one another. It was a perfect little read.

These enemies are perfect for another. While Sabrina is the fixer of New York, Matt is a Wall Street phenome. Each have a connection through Ian, Matt’s best friend and well as Sabrina’s best friend. When Matt gets himself into a bit of trouble with his reputation, the only logical course of action is to ask Sabrina to help fix it. While they have a love/hate relationship, they also have a lot of baggage to why they are enemies. So when Sabrina agrees to be Matt’s “fake” girlfriend while he rebuilds his tarnished reputation, feelings are not “suppose” on the table. But when “faking a connection” can they keep their “real connection” from surfacing? While neither wants or believes in love and marriage, pretending to have someone makes for trouble. It’s volatile, it’s sassy, it’s sexy and it makes for fireworks for Sabrina and Matt. Watching their feelings go through trepidation, turmoil, happiness and love was very smile-worthy.

The second book in the Wall Street series brought the gang all together again. It also showed how Sabrina, Lara and Kate have forged a great bond within the Wall Street series. When you have great girlfriends, you can get through anything and I loved seeing these girls friendship really blossom. These group of friends are real and genuine and you would definitely want to hang out with them all. I’m really looking forward to the last book in the series and seeing how things would out for Kennedy and Kate.

For enemies to lovers romance readers, this book is a winner!!

I've been a fan of Layne's for a while now and I am officially on board with her latest series, 21 Wall Street. After meeting Sabrina and Matt in Ian's book, I was excited to get their story. It's not exactly a true enemies-to-lovers story, more like (stealing from Layne's own description here) frenemies-to-lovers.

After Matt gets into a scandal (pictures of him in Vegas), his bosses give him an ultimatum: settle down (with a nice girl) or get the boot. Needing a woman who can abide by his no long-term attachments, he turns to Sabrina. I loved their chemistry and constant tension that made it so fun to read about.

Slowly they open up to each other and what was initially physical attraction turns to something more. It's a short novel, but the story is complete and checks all the boxes of a good romance.

Hot Asset - 3.75 stars
>> Hard Sell - 3-3.25 stars
Huge Deal - TBR

I love Lauren Layne books, but Hard Sell put itself in an uphill battle nearly from go as far as I’m concerned. You see, ordinarily, I’m all in for enemies-to-lovers. Errmph…well, ALMOST all. There is a more specific riff of ETL that just isn’t my cuppa — enemies-with-benefits (ESPECIALLY when it’s pre-existing to the present time of the book & happened more than once). Imho it works against one of the biggest key dynamics…sexual tension. In the best ETL scenarios, it’s almost maddening, like a volcanic buildup of ST, waiting to erupt between them. The bickering banter that assists typically takes a hit as well. It becomes much less convincing. I want that authentic tension — I need that tension. Occasionally if it was strictly a ONS & happened a while back, the sexual tension can be recovered in the right hands [the right author]. Aside from this exception, I’m usually stuck between feeling out of the loop & an apathetic ‘so what’. It’s difficult to move past the letdown & find a connection to the characters, the plot, etc.

That said, Hard Sell wasn’t the worst of worst cases (the worst case being whenever I never find it), but it took me a while to buy in. It probably was in HS’s favor this was book 2 & not book 1, so I knew them a bit beforehand.

Because I already liked what little I knew of Sabrina as Ian’s(Hot Asset hero) longtime friend in book 1/HA. She was a total boss as THE top fixer in NY. I loved her confidence in what she does. Her braveness in her vulnerability in her personal life was her strength as well.

Matt, on the other hand, wasn’t my favorite going in. He seemed not only conceited, but a bit bratty in his conceit as well. Once he opened up about his background, however, he made more sense. His parents’ dynamic would probably skew a lot of people’s feelings away from relationships. So slowly I warmed up to him…some.

I did enjoy how it worked out in the latter stages, but just not enough to make up for my primary issue at the beginning, so I couldn’t completely move past it. So it was just alright…

*I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

After reading Hot Asset, I was hyped to dive into the second book in the 21 Wall Street series because I was already shipping the couple for this book and I needed to know what the hell went wrong in the first place to cause such animosity between the pair.

Hard Sell is an enemies-to-lovers romance and follows our main characters, Matt Cannon and Sabrina Cross. After Matt's wild night in Vegas makes headlines in the Wall Street Journal, his bosses decide that he needs to clean up his image or else. Turning to the only person who will be able to get him out of this mess, Matt hires Sabrina to play his pretend girlfriend to help show that he is not an irresponsible party boy. They both agree to not let their past feelings affect the situation, but when one of them starts falling for the other, things become complicated.

I had some high expectations going into this book and I'm happy to say that most of them were met. I was sucked into this book immediately and was dying with laughter as I read the banter between Matt and Sabrina. The chemistry between them was off the charts and all the sexual tension had me yelling at my eReader a few times because I became impatient and just wanted Sarbina and Matt to get in on already, lol. I adored Sabrina from the start. She's had a rough upbringing, but she managed to make a better life for herself and she does it with style and grace. She's such a boss lady and is truly goals. She's definitely my favorite heroine in this series so far. I thought I wouldn't be a fan of Matt's playboy attitude, but he's a low key sweetheart. I loved how caring he was when he was around Sabrina and how he was willing to become a better person for her. My only criticism for this book was that I wanted it to be a chapter or two longer because I felt like things wrapped up too quickly at the end. All in all, Hard Sell was a great sequel and I can't wait to get my hands on the final book in this series. I feel like Lauren Layne left the best for last and I'm crossing my fingers that I'm right about it!

Pretty good frenemies to lovers read...

I enjoyed Matt & Sabrina’s story. Their back and forth is pretty funny, and the tension between them is pretty steamy. I enjoyed the additional characters, and the main characters back stories. This is a good frenemies to lovers read!
