There is a lot of action in this segment. All the characters are back. I am still enjoying this series but am still unhappy about the changing dynamics (i.e. Darian's losing some of his edge, etc.).
This is the fourth book in the Knights of Darkness. It certainly contained the most vicious fighting and killing than any of the others. Still it wasn't nearly the best, just the most violent.
Once again, I was left with more questions. Why didn't the mansions of Xander, Elise and Darian have any type of security - especially Darian's? It's unbelievable that Darian only had humans to watch over his coven when they were resting. As rich as they were and as long as they had lived, they should have the best in terms of security. Surely, they knew they were vulnerable to other supernaturals. They all should have known that there was always others who would challenge them for their territory. Also, they all had enemies. As unbelievable as it was to not have security, it was even more unbelievable how Darian's coven was saved.
As powerful as Kyseh was, why did he allow Darian to undergo such danger? He had to know what was going on. Why introduce him, if he wasn't going to play a bigger part in their lives. Considering Darian's enemies were of his bloodline also. This was so disappointing.
As disappointing as some things were, the most was the length of the book. The last 25% of the book was extremely boring. Everything that happened could had been finished in three chapters of less. Coyotes?? Why would there be coyote shapeshifters? That's downright disgusting. There's nothing acceptable about coyotes. Poor Matthew.
It seems that there is more and more sex between M/M and W/W, same self sexing. Completely unnecessary, in my opinion, and overly graphic and descriptive. I'm spite of my dislike, I'm hooked on the characters and stories. It's a good thing the books are so cheap. Two more to go.
I was given an e-copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I went in blind as I knew nothing about this series so I must say - THANK YOU!
Warning: This series is intended for 18+ Readers Only due to its graphic nature.
WOW! Where do I begin? If I could rate higher I would. I bought this installment as well as the rest of the series because I fell in love with characters: Darian, OMG What a hunk of a Vamp.. YUMMY!
In HOSTILE TERRITORY (Knights of Darkness Chronicles #4) by D. N. Simmons we are taking to a dark, suspenseful, and sexual world where one must watch their back at all times to survive. As the scenes unfolded I was absorbed into the story, visualizing them as they played out like a movie. D.N Simmons has an FREAKEN AWESOME writing style that kept me flipping pages until I was cross-eyed. Love when that happens!
The world is dark, mysterious, oh so steamy, and action-packed from beginning to end. Full of Supernatural beings that have become family no matter what their breed. The playful bantering between the characters had me smiling while the fight scenes had me in tears as they were perfectly depicted allowing me to understand exactly what they were experiencing.AWESOMENESS!
The characters are well developed, believable, and lovable. As I said before, Darian is OMG YUMMY!! Sweet and Loving, yet, Firm and Ruthless when called for. I could go on and on cause I fell in LOVE with all of them. Thank you D.N. Simmons for bringing the Knights of Darkness to us readers to enjoy.
Happy Independence Day, everyone! It's kinda fitting that I am writing this review today on a book in the series whose plot centers around defending their ways of life and keeping from being under the rule of a vicious tyrant.
This time a pack member, a pride member, and a coven member have been kidnapped to try and force a takeover of the territory. Not just any members were kidnapped either: We got Natasha (Xavier & Darian's lover) missing, Sebastian (Sergio's son), & Matthew (Warren's lover) all missing! Darian can't use his bond with Natasha to find out where she's being held or who took them, either, as the kidnappers are keeping them all drugged up. For poor Natasha, who is a psychic, this means an endless loop of jumbled visions as she sleeps under the influence of the sedative.
This book has a TON of action with vicious fight sequences that play like a movie in your head. Very well described and easy to visualize. There are also some super sexy instances, demonstrations of love and devotion, and some VERY interesting revelations and developments. ;)
I wonder if Natasha will ever become a vampire? I truly hope so. I want her to live forever with her chosen loves.
The next book is called THE LION'S DEN and I am thinking this means we will be meeting some lion shifters...oooh weeee!
Hostile Territory is book four in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles and while it tells a complete story in the novel it would be best enjoyed as part of the series.
Ms. Simmons takes us once again into the strange alliance made of a vampire nest, a wolf shifter pack and a leopard shifter pride, the groups have formed friendships and a few relationships and they stand together against this latest threat to them all. As in all the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles the action swings from suspenseful to sexual with couples of all orientations and even shifter/vampire, shifter/human and vampire/human relationships.
I found Hostile Territory to be heavier on the action than the erotic side of the story, with things coming to a head with a rival group after the Chicago area territory. As always we are treated to the quirky humor and the unseen plot twists that keep us coming back for more.
This story draws on things that happened in the first book all the way up to introducing more new characters. We see the depth of love the characters have in their relationships as they put themselves on the line or in situations they aren't comfortable with in order to save those they love.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
D.N. Simmons is an amazing writer that gets better with each book she writes. The characters in the Knights of Darkness Chronicles will amaze you and touch your heart. Twists and turns at every corner kept me on the edge of my seat, as always. In this book Natasha, Sebastian (Sergio's son) and the S.U.I.T Matthew have all been kidnapped. Once again strange alliances are formed between the vampires, the wolf shifters and a leopard shifter pride. Thrown together due to a common enemy and the love of their family members, they have formed strong friendships and relationships. They will do anything it takes to get their loved one back, including fight to the death! Action packed with very descriptive, violent and bloody fight scenes that are easy to visualize. There is not as much sex in this book as some of the others, but the ones that are there are very hot and erotic and filled with love and passion. As in the first three books, you will get a roller coaster ride of pure entertainment. You will be cheering for the characters you have grown to love and desperately want them to make it. Bring on Book Five!
I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
The preternatural leaders and their groups are under attack. Natasha, Matthew, and Sebastian are kidnapped. Can the alliance protect their territory and rescue their friends in time?
I just have to say that I really love these books. They are well written and I'm getting invested in the characters (perhaps too invested--I embarrassed myself during my son's karate class, explained in spoiler section). I highly recommend the series.
Knights of the Darkness Chronicles
Desires Unleashed The Guilty Innocent The Royal Flush Hostile Territory The Lion's Den Unholy Alliance
*SPOILER ALERT--just skip it if you haven't read the book yet*
I did a bit of a happy dance and clapped when Warren and Matthew got together in this book. It was rather humorous, as I was at Karate with my son and then had to explain that I was just happy about characters in the book I was reading. Sensei was NOT happy.
10*s. I received an eARC copy of this book in return for an honest review. WOW, I loved this book!! The suspense and the edge of your seat action is just remarkable. This author's writing style is remarkable and unforgettable. The story is very well written and has an awesome plot!!! I love the characters and how real they feel to me!!!! This is a MUST read phenomenal story that will have craving for more!!! Thank you, D.N. Simmons for this awesome action packed story!!!
Book 4 in the vampire soap opera. So far this series is still holding my interest but I have to say I'm kind of glad Natasha is no longer the focus of these stories. She's starting to get on my nerves. Also, Darian is no longer the big, bad, master vampire anymore. We are being introduced to beings that make him look like a newbie. I'm still interested enough to read the next one.
