Do you want to know the real secret to a satisfying and successful marriage?
Getting--and staying--happily married is probably one of the hardest things most of us will ever attempt. In fact, marriage is so challenging that you have to marry well to start with to even have a chance of success. Even worse, the advice you've heard all your life is either wrong or at best incomplete.
Heartbroken after his second divorce, Dr. Carroll was determined to solve the puzzle of how to have a successful marriage. Drawing on his professional expertise as a psychiatrist and a wealth of field research, he emerged with a powerful yet simple system for finding your perfect match. Using neuroscience, genetics, behavioral science, psychology, and his work with shamans and other spiritual healers, he will teach you how to "marry" science with spirituality to attract the perfect man for you - the man you were meant for - and how to get him to the altar in as little as a year.
You'll learn:
- why the usual advice doesn't work
- why amazing chemistry is a bad sign
- what type of man is perfectly suited for you
- how to energetically attract him
- how to know he's really "the one"
- and of course, how to get him to the altar!
If you're tired of the singles scene and frustrated by failed attempts at love, Don't Settle is the step-by-step, complete solution you've been looking for.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot! There is a lot of good, actionable advice in here. My only problem is that some of it is a bit wooey - there is an entire chapter about using the Spirit to figure out if this person is for you. The author does recognise this isn't for everybody, however, so you can just skip that stuff.

Don't Settle is more focused towards a woman reading it, I am looking forward to the male-focused version to see the differences.

Thanks to Netgalley for the read.

This book is very informative and it described me to a T. Now I know what type of man I should be looking for. I did skip the spirit part though

What an exceptional book. I have to say I don't think I ever read a "self help" type book cover-to-cover before this. I usually lose interest. This book was spot on! I have been with my husband for 28 years - married for 24 of those years. We have had our fair share of ups and downs. I could relate to and concur on just about every point in this book. I also was thinking about my daughter as I was reading this book and I have convinced her to read it too. The first several chapters focus on characteristics and personality traits that work well together and why, sharing common goals, and even some quizzes that help you understand who you are. Then, I have to say, the book took me in a direction that surprised me. We learn about meditating, connecting with Spirit and our soul, aligning our chakras and more. I am very intrigued. When I was reading this, I was not in an appropriate location to do this, but will try starting tonight (even though I'm not husband shopping). Even if this last section really isn't your thing, I would still highly recommend this book! It is full of excellent advice! I won this in a Goodreads giveaway and I am keeping it! Thanks!

There were lots of tips and advice inside, as well as different exercises to try. Some were for activities I've never heard of like chakra unwinding, sand painting, pendulum energy, and more.
I liked how the author gave information on his professional background and personal relationship experiences. It made it easier to relate and understand parts of the book.
I recommend this book to people who are serious about making a deep connection and moving forward into marriage with success and a strong foundation.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the best and most comprehensive dating advice book on the market, in the history of all time. He starts off by telling people to make sure their life is in order before they even think about dating to get married, starting with a solid credit score, being able to delay gratification (marshmallow test), moving along to attachment types, energetic matching, spiritual practices, and how to get the right guy to the altar. He explains the different energy archetypes so you can tell the difference between healthy and toxic subtypes within each archetype. You need to read the spirituality section several times to get good at meditation, balancing your energy/chakra fields, etc. before manifesting the right energetic archetype for you. And for more on manifesting, I recommend "Calling in the One" by Katharine Woodward Thomas. Good luck out there!
