Adopted to the Adair name as a young adult, Castiel Adair is loyal to one man and one man only – King. When King requests that he find those responsible for the near destruction of the Empire, Castiel finds himself wading through the swampy marshes of Louisiana. He remains in the shadows…watching, calculating, evaluating the right time to strike. Until he discovers a girl looking for a way out.
Talia Andersson wasn’t about to be a pawn in her father’s game, but she needed help. She wasn’t expecting that help to come in the form of the most intense and gorgeous man she’d ever seen. But she knew in choosing the enemy of her father to be her lover, was her only choice. Rescued only to be stolen again, Talia ends up bloodied, broken and left for dead.
Cas goes on a rampage in search of Talia all the while eliminating every threat from his new conquest’s life. With his brand marking her soul and only a few leads as to where she could be, will he find her before her time is up? More importantly: can the Adair Empire last another fight against the McCray Clan, or will they be laid to rest?
Krystal writes as USA Today Bestselling Author KL Donn. Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, she has over 50 published books in differing romance genres. She enjoys making her readers cry as they go on a deep journey of love and loss through each book.
Experiencing her own insta-love at 17, Krystal has been with her husband for 18 years and they share 4 beautiful children together.
Fun facts about KL: Perpetual romantic. Coffee addict. Sarcasm lover. Give her an action flick over a romance. But a romance book over action. She’s weird like that. Did she mention coffee addict? Closet shopaholic. Beach lover. Coffee addict, it bears repeating. Again. Husband obsessed. Hers that is, you can keep yours. Mom of 6, well 7 if you count the husband. Oh and 2 of those are a cat & dog, that are confused about their species.
Castiel is the 3rd book in the Adair Empire series. This dark series is one of my faves to date. The men in the Adair Empire are dark and ruthless but I love that when it comes to their women they are so in love this them and possessive.
❤️Castiel was sent to keep an eye on the swamp people and The Andersson’s. There he sees Talía and fell in lust with her beauty and innocence.
💗Loved that Talía was sweet and innocent but she also had a dark side that was just right for Castiel.
⚔️This is a dark story about passion, dominance and power and may not be for everyone and had me questioning myself 😁 But I really love this series and can’t freaking wait for Atticus. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤black heart stars!!
Castiel and his “dolce” Talia really made this an epic read. What a dark romance full of intense and sizzling chemistry between Castiel and Talia. Castiel is the darkest one in the series so far and boy what a wild ride the reader will go on. Castiel is sent to the "swamp people" and it is here where he meets Talia ; she is the daughter of a head of the family down there which Castiel has been sent to talk to. Cas is so intense, dark and broken. Talia is light, sweet, innocent but also broken too. Castiel and Talia are a perfect match for each other. They are broken souls who find their missing pieces within each other. They are multifaceted characters and they had so many layers about them, it was great reading the twists and turns that this story has. And it was great watching the journey Talia and Castiel took – the ending was phenomenal and left me craving more.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
This is the third book in the Adair Empire series by K.L. Donn. I absolutely love the name CASTIEL so I was very curious about the man behind the name and I was not disappointed. Castiel Adair has been by King Adair’s side since the very beginning and he’s extremely loyal. Cas loves rope, he likes to use it on his enemies and his lovers. He thrives on structure and routine and he’s not too happy when King sends him back to the Bayou to get info from Androph Andersson. Talia Andersson is 20 years old and she’s the only child of a lunatic. Her mom was a good woman until her father turned her into a strung out whore and passed her around to all his men. Now he plans on giving Talia to Thomas McCray, a monster she despises. When Cas comes looking for answers about Thomas, Androph is quiet but Talia gives him info and he takes her with him when he leaves. She knows if she ever goes home again or her dad gets his hands on her he’ll torture her, then kill her. Cas knows it’s crazy to take Talia but he wants her and he’ll be damned if she’ll end up with a man like Thomas. Cas likes to inflict a little pain with his pleasure and Talia loves the pain so they’re a perfect compliment to one another.
Dark and gritty!! KL Donn has outdone herself!! Castiel is a complete OTT ALPHA!! Talia is so sweet!! When hard and soft meet dark and twisted souls unite!!! My favourite couple to date!! Castiel feed my hunger for dark and twisted!!
Note to self: When K.L. Donn says one of her books is relatively “tame” compared to the previous two – do not go into reading said book thinking it’s going to be all rainbows and kittens. There will still be blood, gore and you may jump out of your skin when your husband sneezes while you’re reading. Just saying. Story Line: Castiel is book 3 in the Adair Empire series. These books are about deliciously twisted men and their women. Cas is no exception to that “twisted” detail. He meets Talia while on a mission. He ends up swiping her as leverage. But it’s never a hostage situation. Especially since Talia has been falling for him from a distance ever since she laid eyes on sexy, tattoo’d Castiel. When these two get behind closed doors, it’s so damn hot. Cas not only wants to own every inch of Talia, but he tells her he wants to break her. Never before have those words been sexy to me. They are now. In true KL Donn fashion, one scene of heart pounding action is obviously not enough. No, a wall blowing up and thowing Cas and Talia to the other side of the room wasn’t nearly sufficient. No, we have to have kidnapping and torture scenes too. And one particular torture scene is when my dear hubby decided to sneeze. He’s lucky I didn’t throw my Kindle at him. At least he got a good laugh *insert dramatic eye roll here* But at the end of this intense story, Talia and Cas have an incredibly close connection and their own version of a HEA. Interaction: Talia is super sweet and pure (you know, pre-Castiel), so reading as her character comes out of her shell is super empowering. With each word she speaks, she becomes more and more brave. She stands up for her man, for herself and for the Adair Empire. And that does not go unnoticed by Cas. He is so beautifully contradictory with her. He tells her he wants to cause her pain, and then he kisses her neck softly. He’s hard yet soft with her. And I think it’s that perfect combination that really brings out her strength. God I love these Adair women. Laundry: Talia is completely innocent when she and Castiel first come together. Do we think he was easy on her? HA. You’re funny. He definitely follows through on the dirty words he speaks to her. He does cause pain and then follows it up with so much pleasure that I will be jealous of them for weeks. I mean 3 big o’s from him going to town down there? Lucky woman! Depth: The Adair Empire is full of complexity. There’s plotting, protection, torture, laundry, bonding, bondage, the list could go on for days. There’s so much going on, yet I’m keeping up and begging for more the second I finish. KL Donn, you’re the master of dark romance. These stories are just long enough for me to be completely invested in the characters, yet not too long that scenes drag out. These characters are messed up, to be honest. But for once in my life, I’m not judging them. This is their makeshift family and they all share the same values. It’s amazing and crazy and I’m sort of terrified of them. I love it. 🙂 Make sure you pick up Castiel TOMORROW!
These books are not for the faint hearted. They are dark and Kinky. There pleasure found in pain. Cas and Talia are really meant for each other. Their attraction and chemistry is of the charts. One things for sure don't mess with these boys families and Women....
The Adair men fall fast and Cas is no exception. It’s always a toss up to me who is a harder man, Cas or Carver, but Talia was the sweet to his hard. She also saw the man behind the mask gave Cas something no one else could.
Five dolce stars! Castiel is so good that it hurts!
Holy darkness! Castiel With Lies is an intense and darkish journey I enjoyed like a crazy. Krystal is killing me with every book of the Adair Empire Series. She delivered again a masterpiece; a twisted, all-consuming, mind-blowing tale. This book is a freaking dark unicorn.
I devoured this book in one sitting. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. The pace is fast and the plot is intensely extraordinary. Each page was a taste of sweet darkness.
This book tell us Castiel and Talia story. Their romance is dangerous and volatile. They came from the same world where violence and death are synonymous of power and money. Talia could look pure and naive but she has lived in a world of lies. She craves truth as a thirsty child. Meeting Castiel will change her world radically. He will set her darkness free and he will consume her broken soul because only two broken souls can reborn from ashes.
Castiel is darkly temptation personified! He is not a saviour. He is a twisted dark knight instead of a Charming Prince. He is a contradiction of a man. He is sweet and protective, volatile and dangerous. Pain and pleasure are synonymous to him. He found his match in a pure and innocent girl. He knows that Talia deserves better however, he will corrupt her. He will make her crave his pain and his darkness.
Talia is ravenous of Castiel’s strength and dominance. He was who she has been waiting for. Both are twisted. She is a virginal princess and he is a corrupted knight. He will kill for her and she will take his anger eagerly.
This book screams perfection everywhere. It fed my dark side in the best way possible. Kristen is a queen. It is like dark romance has lived inside her like the light and sweet romance she usually writes. I highly recommend you this book. Each page will kill you slowly. After reading this book, you will crave darkness as oxygen. It will become your own kind of drug. Castiel is so good that it hurts.
Sent to the Louisiana swamps to keep an eye on their enemy and try to locate Thomas McCray, Castiel Adair finds himself tempted by the young and innocent Talia Andersson. He wants to own her, but he’ll also use her to get the information he wants
Talia may be an innocent, but she knows all about her family’s criminal secrets. She also knows the life her father has planned for her . . .and it’s not one she wants to live. When she finds herself a pawn between Castiel and her father, she makes the choice she hopes will save her, because she knows only pain and torture await her if she stays where she is.
Now that he has her, Castiel will not let Talia go. He’ll also destroy the men who have hurt her in the past as her pain now belongs to him, just as she does. With the Adair Empire backing him, Castiel must find a way to make Androph Andersson pay and being Thomas McCray to the Adair brand if justice.
It was fantastic to finally get Castiel’s story. He and Talia seem to be a perfect match of sadist and masochist. She craves the pain he needs to give her, setting her free in the safety of his arms and she soothes his soul like no one ever has before.
Things never go as planned, however, especially when dealing with psychopaths. The plot drips with suspense and is extremely fast paced with kidnappings, scenes of torture, explosions and more. The scenes between Cas and Talia are extremely intense as well and the Adairs are hard men and the women they choose are made to match them.
Castiel should not be read as a standalone, as the over-arching plot and characters carries throughout the series. While now for the faint of heart, Castiel is a fabulously dark and devilishly delicious addition t the Adair Empire. 5 Stars.
OMG!! KL Donn, you did it again! Castiel and Talia were amazingly perfect together, they belonged to each other almost from the beginning 💝. Cas was definitely a dark and dangerous alpha male, but when it came to his Talia (aka dolce 😁), he didn't let anything or anyone come between them, and I fell in love with him, he is definitely a male you can rely on 💙. He had a desire to cause pain, while at the same time she needed to feel pain, and together she took the pain he gave while he took Talia's pain from her, which for me just showed me how much they needed the other. Talia was born to this dark life but she was the opposite, honest, sweet, caring but also strong (she'd have to be to be Cas's girl). She was so very clever and was such an intriguing character to read about, absolutely love her. Their love is a dark one, but it is also a deep and true one and I enjoyed reading them together (especially that final scene, which I see as Cas's true claiming of her and her total acceptance of him). Her father is a real piece of work, and don't get me started on Thomas, I truly hate that man, can't wait until they get him 😏, that'll be a great/fun time for them all. This book made me laugh, almost cry, scream at the characters as if they could hear me, and overall left me wanting more. I cannot wait until the next book, Atticus is going to be epic I just know it. Thanks KL Donn!! 😍💙
Having read the first 2 books in the series, I figured I knew what to expect from the 3rd one. Let me tell me you, what lies beyond the absolutely magnificent cover of this book, was totally unexpected and unique. It is clear that the author has spent the time to individually think out and plan each book and character. That on its own has kept me captivated in this series. For me, not knowing what to expect from the characters and storyline, adds to the pleasure of reading the book.
The description says, “dark and graphic”, what it should say is that before you start this book, familiarize yourself with the closest fire exits and stay within close proximity of a fire extinguisher. Holy hell, and Talia’s journey is one that is hot, dark, explosive and absolutely perfect!
, who on an assignment to keep an eye on the Andersson’s, meets Talia. She is the image of innocence and not someone you would picture with. However, as the story unfolds, they fit together like two halves of a soul. 's dark side, his desire to inflict pain and his possessive nature soon call to Talia's own dark side and her desire to be owned by .
I stepped outside the box with this book, and I can tell you without a doubt, I think I might stay on the outside, seeing as I cannot wait to see what unfolds with Atticus in Alaska.
P.S. I hope Thomas will get a good ass whipping soon!
I read this a few days ago..but it took me a few days to find the words to describe just what I had read... simply put The Beauty that is the Adair Series..where two Broken, twisted people make a whole Scarred Heart. The beauty comes into play as these two find there soulmates in a dark grey world and thrive and that is the beauty and hope for if two such as these can maybe we can as well... KL Donn gives us her all in this book and I cant wait to see the dark emotion she will wreak for us next. In this book Cas and Talia are very much broken in such a painfully fantastic way.. they hurt so good you dont know what to feel, your just swept along for the ride and what a ride it was... if anyone were to ask me if they should read this? I'd say hell yea though you might want to buckle up. I love Alice in wonderland and this series to me sometimes feel like you've made a trip there simply because this won't be everyone's cup of tea but for me? I love it so much ,Iv always loved the mad hatter and cheshire Cat lol bring on the crazy, twisted and broken because some of the sweetest and best stories are the hardest and darkest ... Cant wait for the rest .. that ending was perfect and left you wanting more, more, more!
Miss Donn I've loved everything you've wrote but I do believe your just getting better and better and I cant wait to see where your mind takes us next!
I absolutely loved this book! Ms. Donn really knows how to write a book that will suck you right in and not let you go! Adair Empire series is the first time Ms Donn has stepped into the darkness, but you wouldn’t know it! She writes any genre with expertise and captivates you with her words! Castiel is the best one yet in my opinion. The series just keeps getting better and better as each book is released.
Castiel is so possessive, hard, strong and yet, he is completely sweet! Well, I thought he was sweet anyway. He is willing to do absolutely anything if that means it will save, or protect, the ones he loves. Talia is sweet and innocent, living in s life that should be way better than it is. Her story broke my heart. Castiel and Talia together was pretty hot! There were certainly a couple of steamy scenes where their chemistry was off the charts!
The story had me captivated from the first word. I seriously could not put my kindle down! The whole novella was just so gripping! It had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what might happen next. I am loving this series so much! I can not wait for Atticus’s story next, it’s going to be so good!
I loved this one so much! Castiel & Talia's chemistry was so HOT and intense, that it made me flush a couple of times and I needed to fan myself to cool down ;)
These two were made for each other and were each other's equal in every way ♡♡
Guys, this is a dark romance read, so there will be triggers for some of you, but for others who may have hesitation for dark reads and can still get passed the triggers, then you won't regret reading this story :)
K.L. Donn did an amazing job with Castiel & his Dolce's (Talia's nickname) story ♡ I loved the plot, how easily the story flowed along with the characters. I also loved seeing the other couples, King & his Queen, Lillian, Luther and his Ariel and also let's not forget Carver ;) and how supporting they were once everything is out in the open... there's major twists that you won't see coming, so go read this story when it comes out on April 24, you won't regret it :)
These men may not be family by sharing the same blood, but in every other twisted way for them, they're more family than some that do share the same DNA.
I can't wait to read Atticus & Catalina's story and see how it unfolds... Hoping we also get Carver's story soon too because I'm dying to see who his woman will be ♡
Did they have to be perfect though? KL you know that's not fair right! Cas is by far my favorite holy shit balls!! Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I keep thinking that there's no way she can top herself but each book she does it. Castiel and his “dolce” Talia are bar none my favorite couple so far. I think besides Carver Cas is the most brutal of the men and for him to find someone that thrives in his brutality the way Talia does was amazing to watch unfold. His an extremely hard and violent man but when it comes to his woman he softens in a way that’s only for her. But in the same token she’s his outlet for his pain so their relationship is tense. Their love is dark and complex and just so beautiful. It completely knocked me off my feet. That last scene between them took me completely out! This is why your my Book Goddess and you have yet again out done yourself. As always it was an honor and a privilege to read your work of creativity. I can’t wait to see what the Empire does next.
I recommend reading the other 2 books to get fully in to the world K.L Donn has created.
This book is Castiels and Talias book. Castiel is the darkes one of the series so far this book was MORE then the other two so far when it comes to dark romance but I enjoyed it as well.
Castiel is sent to the "swamp people" like they called it . It is were he meets Talia the daughter of a head of the family down there that he is sent to talk to about matters. (You have to read the first to to get that ) Talia knows what the life Castiel lives is like since she has grown up in it. Tho she has not really been treated very well in my eyes. It is a creative way as to how they get together and I can understand that it might cross some lines for some. This book is as I said some what darker then the others. but I recommend reading it tho. Cause it the core of it is a sweet love story in its own way.
Wow! What a dark and amazing book. I was completely captivated from the first word to the last.
🔖Now, in the blurb it does say you should read the other books in the series before this one. While I don't think it's necessary to enjoy the two MCs story it's definitely necessary to completely enjoy and understand the plot. I have yet to read them but I'm definitely adding them to my list.
❤️Castial.....I love this man. He's dark and dangerous and knows what he wants. And if he wants something or someone, don't stand in his way.
💖Talia seems like the complete opposite of Castial. She's soft and full of light. But, that's not all she's about.
This was an action packed, edge of your seat kind of book. I highly recommend it.
🤓📚💖This review is simply the opinion of one lady who loves to read. I may have rated it 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 but don't take my word for it. Go find out for yourself.💖📚🤓
🌼I was gifted with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.🌹
“...And your girl wants a **** brand. I don’t know who’s crazier....”
In Castiel’s book we find him watching over the Andersson Family. He’s been watching Talia for a while but has rarely said two words to her, after all she’s one of the enemy’s daughters. Talia has become very entranced by this man. To many people he’s a trained killer but not to Talia. Talia sees this man as her way out, he will save her, he will give her the pain she craves, but she will also take his pain. Castiel and Talia’s relationship takes off at the speed of lightening and when Talia is stolen from him; not once but twice there will be hell to pay...but in the end will he get to her in time or is she as good as dead?
This book as the previous two in this series should be read in order. It will give you a better understanding of each of the characters, I highly recommend that you read no devour this series!
This is the third book in the Adair Empire series by KL Donn and thus series is much darker than some of her others. This one features Castiel Adair as he tries to find out exactly how much The Andersons know about their persistent enemy Thomas McCray and how they can put a stop to him. What Castiel can't escape is his growing attraction and fascination with Anderson's daughter Talia. The attraction between these two is so hot it will melt your kindle! There romance is not all hearts and flowers but a perfect balance of her light to his darkness. They definitely complete each other in a way they cannot find with anyone else and it's one hell of a journey to go along with them on. I cannot wait for the next installment that's for sure. Happy Reading.
5 out of 5 stars.
Please note that I was given an arc of this book for my honest review which is exactly what I have given.
Castiel has been sent to Louisiana to try and locate Thomas but it is Talia who gets his attention and he has her attention as well. When it comes to a choice between family or Castiel it is no contest but that is only the beginning of the story as her family is not about to let her go so easily. Now that Castiel’s protective instincts have kicked in nothing is going to stand between him and his woman and the battle lines are drawn.
Castiel is the darkest of the men and he freely admits it. Although Talia appears innocent and light she has an inner darkness that compliments Castiel to perfection and not only doesn’t she shy away from it she thrives on it. Their journey is filled with suspense, twists and a chemistry second to none. Atticus & Catalina's story can’t come soon enough. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is my new all-time favorite book. If you have read my reviews before, you know i am a huge KL fan. I make no bones about it and will shout it to the rooftops. this book, however, goes above and beyond all i expected and took me to a place i never want to leave. This book has all the dark feels. The way Cas loves Talia is a thing of dark beauty. This story is so dark and twisted and full of surprises. there really are no words to describe this journey without giving it away and i despise spoilers in reviews or a play by play. so i will leave you with this. This book is full of dark, twists and turns, it gives you shivers while at the same time, gives you a belief that love can be found anywhere by anyone. and everyone deserves to be loved the way Cas loves his Talia. This is the kind of love you daydream of. Or at least, i do.
I finished this book yesterday but still trying to reel in my thoughts on this one! This series keeps getting better and better! I'm loving the darkness of the Adair Empire!
I think Castiel is becoming a favorite. Shh... Don't let Carver know, I've been intrigued by him from the beginning. Cas is so dark and broken, and Loyal to those he loves. Don't mess with what is his or you will get what's coming to you!
Talia is so sweet and innocent but at the same time, not. Talia is a woman who does what she can to protect others even if she puts herself in danger!
Castiel and Talia are perfect for each other in every way! I can't wait to see more of these two along with the others in the rest of this dark series!
This is the third book in the Adair Empire series. It is not a standalone, and you definitely need to read the previous two books to understand the characters and story line. It is a dark and graphic romance. Skip the books if you are not into that, but it’s a good book if are into it. This is Castiel and Talia’s story. I had been waiting to see what was happening with Castiel. Talia is perfect for Castiel, they each have their own darkness. But they fit each other. To me, it was a little darker than the previous books. Now for Atticus’s story!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review***
With each book in this decadent series the stories get hotter and dirtier. I must admit I think this is KL best work to date. Now don’t get me wrong I love all her other series but it’s just something about the men of the Adair Empire that just set my soul ablaze. Castiel is a man that will use whatever means he has to get whatever he needs and Talia is no different. Except she knows better and so does he. These two lit the pages of this book on fire and when all the men of the Empire get together beware because death is somewhere on the horizon. I LOVED this book and can’t wait for what’s next!!!!
Wow KL has really taken us on a dark, raw and outstanding journey as we read the story of Castiel and Talia.
This book is amazing and I could almost feel the chemistry between Cas and his woman. The love he feels for Talia is so heartwarming as well as the depth of Talia's love for Cas.
This book took me on a mystery tour with quite a few twists and turns. Just when I thought it was over here comes another twist.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book and totally recommend it if you love a dark and dirty mystery.
K.L. Donn did a great job on Castiel. The story was well written and had a great plot. I couldn't put this book down. I was on the edge of my seat. Castiel and Talia were strong characters. They were made for each other. The chemistry was sizzling. The possessiveness was off the charts. I enjoyed it. When I got to the last page, I just wanted to jump to the next story. I didn't want to stop reading. This was a great story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I recommend reading. You won't regret it. Thank you, K.L. Donn. Great work. I enjoyed it. 5 Stars!
Holy s#+t that was a brilliantly, intense dark read I fricken loved it. Castiel as we already know from King and Luther is a dark character in this we meet his Talia who is sweetness and light but also has a darkness to her that makes her perfect for her knight :). The story continued to be amazing with plenty of dirty kinkyness, action and brilliant characters, I'm intrigued about Daniel hope there is more of his story coming and now I'm itching for the next part Atticus. Be warned this is part of a series you need to read King then Luther first ;)
This is the 3rd book in the Adair Empire series and oh my god! Each book is a little more intense than the last.
Castiel was an extremely OTT alpha. He's dark, brooding and just as possessive of his woman as King and Luther.
I adored Talia. While she might come off as the softer, sweeter one out of the women, she had a fierce side, and I feel she complimented Castiel perfectly.
Now as excited as I am to see that Atticus is next in the line up, I'm trying to be patient and wait for my favorite Adair man, Carver.
This author has done it again! Cas is dark and sexy and a whole lot possessive to me that is the perfect combo for a anti hero which are my favorite bad boys 😍 his dolce is the one person who can bring a bit of light and a whole lot of love and happiness even while in his darkest moments and to me that is the true meaning of love. One thing i beyond love is that we got a taste of past characters it builds to the excitement of who is next and what else can happen. If you love a dark series with lots of action and love, then this is a must read series!!!
