I'm giving this book 4 stars. not because it isn't good for what it is, but just to distinguish it from other great books on dogs that I would recommend first. As far as a book on dog stories, this one was pretty good. I think all the stories were good, but I thought a lot of the stories towards the end were very good.
Story #90, A Boy and His dog, was my favorite and made me go wow. Autistic child has a detailed dream that matches what happens to find the dog.
Story #89, A Ticket Home, reported about Greyhounds being first given to volunteers for rehabilitation and going to homes was another one that will stick with me.
The stories are good, but I especially like the good of people that take on rescues, even when that is challenging. And with dogs, often it seems like there are good coincidences, but to some of us, it is just that God has a way of working good things with using dogs in people's lives.
So a good read I would recommend. May also to be a good one to leave in your car to read, so you can pick up a story or two when you have time to kill.
If you like wholesome content, this would be great for you. Very family friendly. As I was reading it, I described it to everyone as "Christian family reading" If that's your thing, you'll love it.
However, some aspect of the stories are just not believable. One story in particular comes to mind, where the narrator runs in front of a "skateboarding youth" who yells after her, "watch it, old lady!" I'm sorry, but there's just no way anyone in this century would yell that.
This is a one star read from me because • It claimed humor and wasn't funny (except when it wasn't trying and was so cheesy I had to laugh) • Too many of the stories ended with the dog being dead. For something trying sO hard to be heartwarming, it was just depressing.
A great book to read for dog lovers. This book has a wide variety of stories that are uplifting, touching, and downright funny. The stories are divided into the following categories: One of a Kind; Dog Gone Silly; So Smart; Crazy Canines; We Are Family; Who Me?; My Best Friend; My Heroic Dog; Meant To Be; and Four-Legged Therapist.
Personally, some of these stories reminded me of some of my late beloved pets' personalities (and how much I still miss them!).
