"Ever Fire" is Book 2 in the "A Dark Faerie Tale" series by Alexia Purdy, and it was every bit as good as the first in the series, "Ever Shade" (please see my review of that one).

This book continues in the adventures of Shade, a young woman who is dealing with what can only be described as an "immense" amount of problems being thrown at her, not the least of which is that an extremely evil leader in the Faerie realm wants magic that only Shade has, and she will stop at nothing to get it.

When you consider that in Book 1, Shade was leading a perfectly normal life until she quite suddenly wasn't, you have to admire her courage in the face of certain death, her love of friends and family over her life, and her desire to protect her loved ones at all cost. She is also fighting for her own "people", a race of faeries she never dreamed was even possible, but that is just the beginning. There are a lot of things she never dreamed possible that are suddenly quite, quite real.

This is an amazing book for YA and adults who love all things magical with some paranormal and mystery thrown in.

I had the extreme pleasure and honor of helping edit this book for Alexia Purdy, and let me tell you, if you thought the first book (Ever Shade (A Dark Faerie Tale #1) was Awesome, a real page turner, or even "risked taking your Kindle Fire into the shower with you, then you're going to be in for a treat with this one.

The character's are so well written, the adventures extraordinary, new lands to explore, and so much more.

While editing this I found myself, without realizing it, acting as Shade, feeling her pain, happiness, and sorrow. I had to shake myself out of it and laughed as I finally realized what I was doing. That is how engrossing this book is, and everything a reader wants. To feel the character is something I have never done, at least not to this extent. Maybe a bit of Shade's magic poured into me.

You will laugh, you will cry, there will be gasps, love, and pain, but one thing you won't do, is put this book down.

Merry Meet, Merry Part and Merry Meet again.

I received a free eBook from the R2R Program in exchange for a honest review.

Overall I liked book 1 better. Like book one, it is still technically an urban fantasy, but tends to stick primarily to the fantasy part. Once again, Shade is trying to walk the line between human and fae, while searching for her lost fae heritage and figure out her powers. All there characters (for the most part) are the same from book 1, but we get to see deeper into their motivations, their past, and connections that bind them together. We also learn more about Shade and her family, including her human side.

However, it coveres a larger span of time compared to book one, and the 'time passing' techniques didn't sit very well with me. It especially took me by surprise when weeks seem to fly by in the space of a sentence or two, and I had to re-read the sentence to make sure I saw that correctly. It seems like there are interesting things happening during that 'lost' time that I wish was further explored.

Dylan- it needed MUCH more Dylan! I understood (somewhat) the reason why there were less of some characters and more of others... but it just took a different direction than I was anticipating after falling in love with book 1.

I still give it 4 stars, and would still absolutely continue the series. Instead of 'first book syndrome' this series has second book syndrome. I am looking forward to seeing Shade back on track (I hope) in future books.

I was so excited to see the continuation of this story. There were no disappointments in here either. The story continues on about Shade’s discoveries of who she is and along the way the details emerge. I love seeing the same characters interact again. I really enjoyed seeing characters come back that I didn’t think would be a part of this story line but are a big part of it. Is Shade going to finally meet her dad or any family that she didn’t know even existed? What will she discover about the family she has lived her life with? This is a continued story of a fight for freedom for the faeries and all those around them. Ms. Purdy has brought these characters too life for me and I can actually see them as if they were standing before me. So many new and wonderful things happen in this story that you will experience more emotions than you expect. I still am very impressed with her writings as she has not failed me yet. Wonderful must read continuation of a story and hopefully more to come.

This book was even better than Ever Shade, the first book in the series. As impressed as I was with the first book, this book did not leave me disappointed. Once again, I was drawn in, hanging on every word, until the very end.
The series is creating an addict in me. I feel so disappointed when I reach the end of the story. I want it to never end!
Anyone who buys this book will not be disappointed. If you want to go on a fast-paced journey, one that will leave you breathless with excitement, a book that will get you involved with the characters - then this is the book for you.

Another AMAZING Book By Alexia Purdy! Her books and writing style seems to be getting better and better! This book had me Glued to my seat, I almost finished it in one sitting. I just wished I had Ever Winter to Follow.

Ever Fire is the 2nd Installment to the WONDERFUL Dark Faerie Series.
This book pretty much picks up where Ever Shade left off. Shade's coming into her powers and learning what to do with them. Dylan and Shade are still connected through the blood bond through-out the book. Shade is also struggling within herself to find out with who her heart lays with. She has many obstacles to overcome through-out the book. The Evil Queen Aveta raises war within the Faerie Lands and if she's not stopped it will spill over into the Human world and humans will either become dead or enslaved and forced to do her evil bidding's.

This book is another GREAT Hit for Alexa. It has Non-Stop Action that will have you on the edge of your seat. It Also has MANY Surprises I NEVER seen coming! We also get to see further into Shade's Family and background. It's A MUST READ! Definitely worth 5 Stars plus MORE!

Ever Fire

I have no idea how to do a review so i'll just babble :)
LOVED this book, i could NOT put it down, i am already impatiently waiting for book 3 :)
It caught me from the beginning coz i was still hanging from the end of book 1 (Ever Shade/Interim Blue) ~ i just had to jump right in.
There were lots of surprises with different characters & a few new characters to fall for along the way. I'm not an author or publisher but for me, it read really smoothly - easy to follow & kept me wanting to read 'just 1 more chapter before bed' ^_^
I usually don't read a lot of 'Faerie' books but this one wasn't like the norm - you really are in the land of Faerie along with the characters, you'll love being there & you'll fall in love with all the different people you meet along the way :)
If you like fantasy books or even if you don't - i would 100% recommend you check out this series!

This fast-paced sequel to Ever Shade continues the dangerous journey of Shade, the part human part faerie teen.

Alexia Purdy continues to amaze me with the action-packed tale of fantasy that again kept me up nights reading. Having never been a fan of fantasy, I find that I cannot put these books down. The world that Ms Purdy has created is so full of life that it is hard to believe it is fantasy at all when you are reading.

Alexia has again cracked open a new realm of reading for me with this amazing story. I highly recommend it!

Five of five stars!

**I received this as a Read2Review through one of my groups, so I would like to thank the author and moderators for this opportunity.**

I have not read the first book in this series prior to this R2R even though I tried to get a hold of a copy before starting this one. Would having read book 1 change my opinion of Ever Fire? I doubt it, but I feel that I should preface this review with this bit of information. This review might contain small spoilers.

I gave this book 2 stars, but in actuality I think it only deserves 1 1/2 stars and here's why....

I really struggled to get through this book. I don't particularly care for fae/fairy type books, I don't really know why they don't interest me, but I tend to gravitate toward other themes more regularly. The fae angle was not why I didn't like this book. The framework of this book seemed solid. It seemed the world created had elements interwoven into the story that would make for an entertaining, interesting read. The cast of characters appear to be unique and have stand-alone attributes. And, that right there are the only things I liked about this book.

The one predominant thought that comes to mind when I think about this book is hot-mess. I can't help it.

I could sit here and list out all the things that bugged me or straight pissed me off, but my number one is the way the story flowed (not sure if that is the technical term or not). It was as if this book was stuck at Warp Speed 10. Events, conversations, even relationships progressed at a staggering speed. I had to re-read a lot because I thought I had missed things. I felt like us as readers weren't given a full story, just highlights the way events were brought up and then resolved in the matter of a few sentences at times. For example, Shade finds out who her father is, what she is entitled to, and her future role in this upcoming war in the span of a few paragraphs. Ok, a little fast, but I can go with it. Another example: Shade hooks up with her Grandmother and gets the quick & dirty on her family's past along with her abilities while training to use them. This scenario is not new, many books have these "awakening" moments. What I didn't like is Lana agrees to teach her as well as train her, but then there are no scenes of the actual training. It skips ahead 6 weeks. I'm not OK with that. I like to see a character's evolution, especially if it pertains to a central theme of the series. Another one: Shade's rescue. The set up was good. I was really intrigued on how the outcome was going to be written. Well, I won't go and spoil it for those who haven't read this book, but boy was that anti-climatic.

The writing was not totally horrible. I guess I just wished that Purdy would have slowed down and invested more time in the resolution and everything that led the characters to the choices they made. The story arc wasn't too bad. The chain of events weren't boring and lead the story in an interesting direction. The character's dialogue and the vocabulary, slang more precisely, annoyed the hell out of me. I found myself constantly rolling my eyes. Editing didn't seem to be an issue and there were not info dumps every other paragraph, which I hate. I believe in a "show, don't tell" approach.

The characters, well, I didn't really connect with any of them. I have rarely read a book and not connected with at least one of characters, so this a first for me.

Shade, oh my, where do I begin?! She is probably the most unlikeable female main character I have ever read. She was a complete brat, really immature, excessively whiny, irrational, and kind of slutty. What is with these writers creating these female characters that bounce around from guy to guy. What kind of message is that sending? "I love Dylan." "I love Soap." "I'm hot for Ursad." Ahhhh...kill me now!

Dyan was the least hated character for me, but seriously, if I have read about one more "I love you but we can't be together, but I'm going to be a possessive, jealous jerk" love interest one more time I am going to claw my eyes out with a spork.

Soap....dude, you need to find and reattach your balls, asap.

This book was a total mess for me. The characters pissed me off, repeatedly. The story's progression was not organic or natural in any way. Like I said before, the foundation was sound, but everything else just left something to be desired. I will not check out the first book or any future installments of this series.

Alexia Purdy's Ever Fire picks up after Shade has fulfilled her harrowing tasks in book one. Back in the human world and still blood bound to the slightly softening, but still brooding Dylan, the war in Faerie wages on, good vs evil, and the cold of winter is spreading. The threat to the human world looms ever closer and Shade needs to perform another task in order to help save the world. Have her powers grown enough to prepare her for what lies ahead? Will she learn her true heritage? Will Shade finally meet some of her fae family? Shade has gained so much, but her losses are also growing as she steels herself for another battle, she is coming into herself with more confidence and determination. Now, if her heart could only make up its mind...

Again, in an eloquently detailed world, Alexia Purdy guides both the reader and our heroine through the treacherous battles ahead, the joy of finding family, the pain of loss, the need to be strong and move on as time is running out for the Seelie Courts and the cold death of the Unseelie spreads.

Still appropriate for younger YA readers, Alezia Purdy fills each page with fantasy, action and the determination of one young girl to save both of her worlds. Wonderful reading, faster-paced than book one, but just as entrancing. A wonderful escape into another realm! 4.5 stars!

My review of Ever Fire by Alexia Purdy

Rating 5*****

This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.

Shade is a one of a kind female... I mean literally one of a kind. Part changeling and part fey makes for an interesting life to say the least. Dividing her time between Faerie and the modern world she is anxious to learn how to unleash all of the magic that her heritage says she has. Unfortunately, some want her dead before that may ever happen.
Shade has a great cast of friends to help her along her way. Friends both human and fey who help her every step of her journey. Shade's quest it seems was foretold before she was even born by a wise oracle. If she doesn't succeed in defeating the dark unseelie court both the modern world and Faerie are headed for distruction. Now if that isn't pressure enough for a girl just graduating from high schoool ....there's more. Dylan who she is blood bonded to is acting more distant than ever. The more she realizes she may actually love him, the further he pulls away. Then there's adorable easygoing always there Soap. He finally has come out and told her he cares, but is there room in her heart for him as more than a friend?? Decisions, decisions, and more decisions - ones that could end the world!!!!!
Where to begin with my thoughts? I fell in love with Shade! Strong female lead, faces her insecurities, and no hesitation to jump in a fight. While she may not know how to go about her mission, she faces her fears and sacrifices herself for those she loves. What an awesome job at characterization by this author. I can't honestly find one thing I didn't like about this book. The story flowed well, it drew you in and left you wanting more. I hope book 3 is coming out soon!!!! All around winner here!!!

The Review
Just like the first in this series, this one has you hooked from the start, I have waited a while to read this, just to see if you could read it as a stand alone and in my opinion I think you could, it’s well detailed, The characters are very well described, You can easily understand what is happening in this one, I loved the first one, Evershade and this one had me loving it too, All the characters were there from the first, with some added extra’s, which only added to the story, I love the way this author writes, I love the plot with this one, don’t want to say too much, what with spoilers and all that, just want to say, I am so glad he came back, Those who have read it will know who I mean, This is recommended to all who enjoy a good book, just like me, 5/5.

Phenomenal

I hope you’re back pack is still packed… most probably packed and repacked as we continue the quest that Shade must TAKE and CONTINUE!!

Deeper and deeper we climb/travel into the world of Useen. But for Shade at times it’s déjà vu, oh my goodness what will she do? Her “bond” is called back by the Queen of the Teleen.

*** Walking the paths, Shade continues to do, no Dylan…. So Rylan will have to do ***

Shade’s powers are growing the waters are flowing. Water + Fire will make for a steamy defense. Thank goodness for Ilarial, her training will have her turning north, south east and west. To strengthen her powers to wield water is a must to complete this quest!!!

With each trip to the land of Fey, things happen continuously along the way. New family is found then sadly lost just as quick. What Shade thought is not, or has never been. *oh boy*

Keep plodding along from one battle to the next, you’ll never get bored along this quest. Just when you think Shade is done, you turn the page and Shade hasn’t won!!

Will Shade succeed in her quest? Will Dylan return? Questions, questions when the answers come!!!

*** BATTLES *** LOVE *** TRIUMPH *** LOSS ***

I highly recommend this phenomenal series A Dark Faerie Tale: I want more!!!

Thank you Author Alexia Purdy for this wonderful escape.

I received this book from the author to give an honest review.

First let me say this cover is awesome! Now I believe this book was better than the first, it was full of action and a love triangle which if you read the first book you saw it coming! But who will she pick? And will she even pick anyone with everything she has going on in her life. Along with a lot of new twists and turns! One of my questions that I had from the first book got answered in this one to the full extent. The trials that Shade has to go through in this one is heartbreaking. There are plenty of surprises that you will not see coming and be like OH MY GOODNESS! Really? Shade will learn more about her powers and heritage, but at what cost?
I was super stoked to see there was a book two, now I can not wait for book three to come out because I want to read more about the war! And find out what the heck is up with this Queen of Evil!

My favorite quote out of this whole book was said by Soap: "I would follow you into the depths of blackness so thick that I would think there be no light to befall me ever again. I wait for you even now, my heart is already yours. Do you not understand?" I thought Soap opening his heart up like that was just adorable and very romantic.

The Dark Faerie Tales are a must must read! You will not be disappointed. Felt with love, heartache, surprises, magic, adventure. I recommend this for all to read.

I've had this book for a while and always meant to read it immediately after reading Ever Shade but for some reason it didnt work out that way. I really do wish I had been able to read them all back to back, because I just could not step away from Shade's story.

This one is set just a little after Ever Shade, with Dylan living with Shade and her family (being her personal bodyguard) and Shade taking regular lessons in all things Faerie, from learning magic to battle skills. Drawn into yet another adventure Shade is torn between wanting to protect her human family and helping her Fae friends. Shade grows a lot in this book and she finally learns about her faerie magic.

As you would expect from the second book in a series, this one jumps straight in, with no hanging about trying to fill you in on back story. There is almost no slow points to the story so its easy to just continue reading (unless you have a houseful of people who think because your 'just' reading means your not doing anything important).

My only issue with this series is I have to wait until next year for the next installment Ever Winter

I refuse to give any spoilers for this book away so this review will probably be a little short. And i should start by saying if you haven't read the first book in the series Ever Shade you should run out and read it before starting book two The first book sets up the main characters very nicely. I love this series and I couldn't wait to get my hands Ever Fire. The story continues shortly after the first book leaves off. Shade continues to discover what she can do with her powers and who she is in life both in the human world and in faerie. She also finds that she has family in faerie. This book made me very sad for Shade. Every time something starts to work out for her something goes terribly wrong. She is uncertain in her lifes path and in her hearts desires. It has a great flow to a wonderful story line. and as always Alexia creates a world that is epic and fun to read. This book will draw you in and leave you wanting more. I must say I can not wait for book three of the series Ever Winter to come out. And I just want to add that I tried to pre-order this book and amazon wouldn't let me so Alaxia being the amazing person that she is gave me an ARC copy of the book so I could read it early. That alone makes me love her and I want to tell her officially Thank you! ,3

I loved Shade in this book. She really really grew as a character. She is finally getting some gumption. I can't wait to see where Alexia takes her next. She is absoloutely the star of this one. My favorite fae boyfriend was absent through most of the book which allowed Shade to take front stage. She is learning her powers and becoming less frazzled. This book has no "slow parts". The characters and storyline are already established so Alexia just jumps right in where Ever Shade left off. The list of baddies is growing and not everything seems to be black and white for a few of them. We still haven't met the big baddie Aveta face to face but Shade has. Judging by Shades exerpince we are going to LOVE seeing Shade take her on once she comes into her powers. Even though my favorite boy fae wasn't in this book, the second best steps up to the plate. We get to see more of him and I am not all that impressed. Once I choose a character I am loyal to that one.
Overall this book was well written, a thrill ride and, well, just amazing! I cannot wait for Ever Winter.

Ever Fire by Alexia Purdy is a continuation of the fantastical life of teenage Shade. In this book Shade is sent to Prince Lotinar's castle. He turns out to be an old friend from Shade's past. She has to flee and she finds where her grandmother is. Her grandmother takes Shade in and teaches her how to use her powers. She is captured and taken hostage by the Unseelie court after a very unfortunate series of events. She is then tortured and interrogated for information on her powers. In the end, she is rescued, but not without a price.

I give this book a five out of five. This book kept me on my toes. Ever Fire is an amazing page turner. I recommend this to young adults and people who enjoy fantasy.

I liked this story better then the first 2 parts, it has a lot of excitement, some torture, kidnapping, and some romance. I didn't like that it left me at cliffhanger, luckily I have the last installment and will finish this tale, hopefully the ending rocks, lol. Shade continues her fight to save the seelie kingdom, and the magic from slipping and both worlds revealing themselves to the other. Shade is in fear for her human family of Fire Witches, even tho they are powerful, probably more then she realizes.

I am so happy that Alexia sent me this amazing book to review. Ever Fire is my *first* official ARC review, but I have 15+ coming within the next three months that I can't wait to share with you all. *squee!*

This book releases this Monday, July 9th so if you haven't read this series, you have the weekend to catch up for FREE Ever Shade: A Dark Faerie Tale #1 on Amazon.

*minor spoilers from Ever Shade*

Ever Fire is the second book in the Dark Faerie Tale series and boy does Ms. Purdy pull you in! This book starts out with Shade having nightmares of her previous quest. Dylan is living with Shade because of the Blood Binding (and only after careful manipulation of Shade's mom) giving him the opportunity to support and help Shade adjust to her new life.

Shade is learning to cope with her new-found powers by training with the lovely Ilarial, strengthening her water control and experimenting with fire. She is also bettering her self-defense, learning about weapons from Dylan and sparing with Soap. Soap is still no Dylan, but I sure would suds him up! Ban pun...sorry. ;)

Dylan is called back to the Queen of the Teleen and unfortunately leaves us for most of this book, but his departure is necessary for Shade's growth. Also, the evil queen and her army are finally real and making their way for the world Shade loves.

Throughout this book Shade must meet with a Prince, handle death, learn of her family, pay the price of love, and test her own commitment to Faerie.

Down to the Nitty(/u)

Ms. Purdy really allows Shade to grow in this book. Even though she isn't yet decisive in her personal relationships, Shade's tone is a bit more mature - which I really appreciated. And can I just say that I ADORE Dylan?! Yum!

I had a love/hate relationship with Shade and her growth process, but it was that of a typical teenager - two steps forward and...you know the rest. Also, there was a bit lacking in why an explanation was given, or maybe it was just the "how" that was off. Conversations sometimes seemed forced or too informative, not quite realistic of what you would shout during an ambush. And it was a bit confusing because there were times when an explanation (of a new Faerie creature or power) wasn't given and the story just flowed.

Overall, I really enjoyed the darker elements to this story, which sneak up at the end. I really hope to see more of them continuing in the series. I also enjoyed learning more about Faerie and the creatures within.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered after Ever Fire and I am DYING to get my hands on Ever Winter, which releases in 2013. I would more than suggest reading this series, my friends!

*Thank you to Alexia Purdy and Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing for sending this ARC to me. You guys are wonderous!*

Shade has had enough time to come to terms with who and what she really is. Although her mind still has a hard time accepting the fact that she's part Changeling and a human. Not to mention the fact that she also has Fey blood running through her veins.

The changes she's experienced have helped her realize that she's much different than she was before. Her best friend shares the knowledge of what she went through in Faerie, even though she'll never say a word of it to anyone. Yet it's a secret that sometimes threatens to put a strain on the girl's friendship. Despite this fact, she and Brisa are determined to maintain their friendship in every way possible.

When word arrives that Faerie is threatened anew, it's up to Shade to help the Seelie court in achieving a victory against the Unseelie, once and for all. While she's not exactly sure if she can deliver, she's willing to do everything within her power to make sure that the Seelie have the upper hand in everything.

Immersing herself within her training, Shade finds herself battling her feelings for Dylan while also feeling attracted to the enigmatic Soap. The two Teleen warriors evoke her interest, yet she knows there's only one with whom she really wishes to be with, even if she won't admit it. At least, not yet anyway.

When Dylan sets off on a mission for the Teleen queen, she begins to realize just how much of an impact the brooding warrior has made on her life. There's a hole deep inside her that only he can fill. One Soap hopes to mend if she's willing to give him the chance. The question is, can she do it?

As secrets surrounding her existence and that of her family surface, Shade begins to realize that that there's a lot she's never really known. People are keeping secrets in order to protect her, yet deep inside she wants nothing more than to know exactly where she stands within the Faerie world. As tensions mount and alliances are stretched in every direction, she soon accepts the fact that she's there for the duration until she can fulfill her obligations within the Seelie court. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done.

Taking up where the first book left off, we're thrust into a world where Shade needs to come to terms with both her past and her future. She feels she's left in limbo with all of the secrets she's encountered, but deep inside she's willing to take the necessary risks in order to set all wrongs to right. This is a very intriguing series and I can't wait to see what happens next in book three.

I received this book in return for a honest review as part of the R2R for the Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! group on goodreads. This is the continuation of Shades story from the first book Ever Shade. So just a recap from book one Shade has a chance meeting with a Teleen Faery who leads her off to the Seelie Faerie Court where she learns that she is a halfling part faery and part human. However it isn't as it appears and in a attempt on her life she accepts a blood bond from the brother. Shade is sent to find the Santiran Fountain that's water will tip the scales in the Seelie's favor. It's not a easy quest for Shade but she does it meeting many faery some good and some not.

In book two the UnSeelie Queen Aveta is ramping up her powers intent on gaining Shade to control her water magic. Not to far in Shades bodyguard and my favorite guy Dylan is sent home at request of his queen he returns to her court. So through most of the book Shade is alone which isn't to bad because she has Soap aka Rylan to protect her from the threat of the UnSeelie Queen's Lieutenants. In this book Shade learns that her mother Jade is a fire witch as are her siblings, she also learns that her mother has all her memories back. She also briefly get's the meet her grandmother on her father's side before she passes away.

This book was really good, not as good as the first but still really good. I like the characters I really love the whole Shade and Dylan thing it wasn't love at first sight but it's grown into something beautiful. This book is mostly about Shade learning to control her powers, learning who she is and more about the threat from the UnSeelie Queen. The book flows along smoothly well written just like the other I read it in a few hours this morning because I couldn't put it down I just have to know what's going to happen next. So I can't wait to get my hands on the next book I wish I had it now. I enjoy that we get to watch Shade grow into the powerful being that she's going to be, and I enjoy all the different beings too. It's a great book I just wanted more action but that's just me.

ooops I just realized I hadnt rated this book I read it a while back thank you to the author for providing me with this book for an honest review and my thoughts - and now its been released ..

Wow - Alexia has topped this new series with this one.. I loved the first book in the series, but this one - I thought was just amazing ... The new characters she has introduced - the world in which she has created, the turmoil - and Shade's choices she must make and of course the storyline = one that will have you hooked, line and sinker till the end..

My heart is torn between which hotty to love the most and in which direction Alexia will take us. One can never have enough book boyfriends and I must say soap.. Just intrigues me ..... He certainly is very bubbly ! (( snickers )) As for Draven - he is taken away from us - but I hope to see more of him in the future works. ** pouts** Alexia does throw in a few twists and turns for sure..

Be taken on an adventure, A Dark Faerie Tale - where worlds collide, Fairies are not what they seem and characters that will draw you into the pages. The nail biting adventures will keep readers entertained and intrigued till the last page has been turned.

Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined.

The only thing I can whinge about is - I wanted more.. lol....

I bought and read Evershade in hope that I could get a chance to read this book as a R2R book. So a big thank you to the author.

I enjoyed the world building in both books and getting to know Shade, watching her grow and mature.

I loved dipping into her world of fey and humans. I have to say that I really hate love triangles, but I do feel that the author portrayed this one more realistic than most and it looks like Shade will choose my favorite--brooding Dylan. I missed him in this story since he was gone most of it, but felt that Shade needed him to be gone to figure out how she felt about him.

I know that Shade needed to spend time learning about herself, her powers, and training but felt that some of the actual time was skimmed over so quickly that I did not know how much time had past. Hours, Days, Weeks or Months? or how much she actually learned. One sentence her brother was with her at her grandmother's house and the next he was not. Her best friend that she told everything too...does not really react as much as I would expect her to and the friendship feels a little forced.

Overall, I am enjoying the series and can't wait until the 3rd book, and I really wish the books were a little longer because I felt there were some areas that could have been expanded with a few more details.
