With Finding Margo, Jen Turano has waded into the waters of contemporary romance/suspense and delivered one highly entertaining novel! The era might be different, but the writing is not. I loved everything about this story and could have identified Jen as the author even if I hadn’t seen her name on the cover.

Finding Margo is fresh. It’s filled with Jen’s laugh-out-loud humor. It has a quirky feel to it and blends together several elements – a cold-case child abduction, mystery, romance, a touch of the Amish/Mennonite community, and witty dialogue. Margo and Brock are unique, very appealing characters with hidden depth, and their sweet romance is well balanced with the suspense elements. And then there’s the duck, which delivers one of the most delightful animal themes I’ve ever come across.

I appreciated the spiritual theme that we are more than the expectations family and culture might put upon us – and that God never leaves or stops loving us, but is always working to fulfill His plans and purposes for our lives.

An epilogue beautifully sets up book #2, to be released in fall of 2017. Not to wish the passing of time, but I’m eager for this!

Highly recommended.

Amish screwball romantic suspense... Jen Turano has just created a new genre! Turano brings her trademark flamboyant prose, quirky characters, and zany misadventures out of the Gilded Age and into contemporary romance, and the result is Finding Margo, a wonderfully entertaining and heartfelt joyride in an Amish buggy. I loved this story and can't wait for the next one!

I received a complimentary digital review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion, which I have given.

Jen Turano’s books always make me smile because they’re so pleasantly quirky. I also have been known to hug them close in great delight. Finding Margo, her first published foray into the contemporary genre, is no exception.

If you’re a fan of her historical novels (if you aren’t, you should be), you will find yourself in familiar hands despite the shift in genre. In Jen Turano’s trademark style, an adorable little duck steals every scene she’s in and a simple getaway becomes anything but simple. Even the feel of the dialogue is reminiscent of her historicals, something which might not be everyone’s cup of hot chocolate but which I thought fit well with the quirky nature of the book.

Knowing the “surprise twist” from the beginning, to me, gave Finding Margo deeper meaning and kept my mind whirring throughout as I tried to solve the whys and hows and whos. It took the predictability factor out of the equation so I could focus more on the intricacies of the mystery… something which this armchair detective LOVES. Plus, the additional mystery of Brock’s sister added more intrigue to an already intriguing set of circumstances.

Besides the duck, I love Margo and Brock. Margo is sweet and tenderhearted, despite her upbringing. She’s also rather quirky herself in a completely endearing way. Brock is hunky (of course) and protective, but he’s also got a great sense of humor which comes in handy especially when dealing with Margo’s mother. (Lord, have mercy, but if any character ever needed a good purse whomping, Margo’s mother does.) While this isn’t a “grab the fans and fainting couches” type of romance, the relationship between Brock and Margo will make your heart smile for sure. Especially in the last couple of chapters!!

Umm… and that ending?? Is it Fall 2017 yet? Because I need the next book, like, NOW. Please.

Bottom Line: A different twist on Amish suspense, as only Jen Turano can write, Finding Margo will make you laugh … and hold your breath … and want to purse whomp some people … and may even make you a bit teary eyed. But Finding Margo is more than a quirky, fun romantic suspense novel. And therein lies the deeper meaning of this delightful book – WE are more than who we were born to, how we were raised, or who we are expected to be. While there is certainly a little bit of each of those influences that shapes our hearts, the real treasure of Finding Margo is the truth that resting in God’s love for us is the key to finding who we truly are.

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

Having only read Jen Turano’s historical fiction, I was interested to see what she would do with a contemporary story. A contemporary story with a “pop princess” and Amish characters, no less.

The thing that really hooks me in with Amish Fiction is having characters or situations that I don’t expect to find in the sub-genre. Though I was a bit skeptical about a pop star being the main character, I was happily surprised to find that I started to like Margo Hartman. Mix in a duck, a handsome FBI agent temporarily acting as a Sheriff’s Deputy, a community with secrets, an Amish women turned Mennonite who decides to meddle, the 20 year old disappearance of three Amish children, and a very present threat to Margo’s life and Turano has delivered something delightful and unexpected with a touch of suspense.

While none of the individual elements of the story are new (well, maybe this particular duck and her introduction), this particular combination of them with the author’s signature humor had me amused, entertained, and anxious to follow the story arcs of the threats to Margo’s life and Brock’s investigation into his sister’s supposed suicide to the very end.

Highly recommended if you enjoy clean romance with a faith element, a bit of danger and mystery, and a good dose of humor as well as tall, attractive heroes and sassy, strong heroines who somewhat graciously deal with whatever the author throws at them. Being a fan of Amish Fiction is not required, though those who are will most likely love this feel good, pop princess in peril combination as well.

If Jen Turano wrote a dishwasher manual, I think I would not only enjoy it, but it would also hold me captive.

Honestly, I never got swept up in the Amish fiction craze when the genre became popular- it's just not my thing and each time someone told me about an Amish novel they had read, each one sounded pretty cliche- but I believe Jen can add a unique spin to any genre or "typical plot", and "cliche" isn't in her authors' vocabulary.

"Finding Margo" is correspondingly a comedy and a suspense. Add a tasteful dash of heart and romance and you have a perfect recipe for an intriguing and heartwarming story that puts emphasis on the importance of family.

There were some aspects of the whole mystery business that I would catch on to pretty quickly and think- "I have this all figured out" -beware such cocky thinking! My lesson was learned as in the end I was still surprised and amazed by how everything came together!

As true with Turanos' other works, "Finding Margo" has a great cast of characters! A spunky and quirky heroine with more heart than first meets the eye, an impressive hero who is the perfect gentlemen, their families, their matchmakers, the stylist, the villains (some obvious, some not-so obvious) and, of course, the faithful feathered friend.
Give them each a crazy past, drop them in the middle of a brilliant plot- which puts them all in the middle of nowhere (this particular "middle-of-nowhere" being an Amish community)- pour some blonde hair dye over it, and call it a work of art.

You don't want to miss this!
Bravo, Jen!

Having heard that Jen Turano has a reputation for creating lively, witty, and even humorous characters, I have to confess this one didn’t quite meet my expectations. There were definitely some lighter moments – including some situational comedy and some banter between Brock and Margo – but overall, the story and characters fell a little flat for me, particularly Margo's parents, who I thought were too caricatured to be realistic. Gabby the duck, on the other hand, was a charming addition to the cast!

The story begins with Margo deciding she’s had enough of the punishing schedule her mother and her agent set for her. Without a word to anyone, she embarks on a road trip that comes to an abrupt stop when Gabby makes a dramatic entrance just outside Millersburg, Ohio. From the moment Margo enters the town, people comment on her likeness to local Amish woman, Sarah Yoder, and it is obvious where the story is going with this fairly early on. What is not so obvious is: Who is targeting Margo?

Brock is in Millersburg for his own purposes. His sister’s death was ruled a suicide, but he’s not buying it and has taken temporary leave from his position with the FBI so he can quietly investigate the matter for himself. Margo intrigues him from the moment they meet – and it’s little wonder, really. She wasn't exactly convincing in her attempt to come up with an alias! When it becomes obvious that Margo is being targeted, Brock’s interest becomes professional as well.

I think there were two main reasons this story fell short of the mark for me. Firstly, while I enjoyed seeing Brock and Margo together, I didn’t feel much romantic tension or chemistry between them beyond the banter in their dialogue. Secondly, the writing tended to tell more than show, and I found the sentences unwieldy and awkward at times. For example, the repeated use of present participle phrases to begin sentences (eg. ‘Cresting another small hill, Brock glanced...’ or ‘Flooring the gas pedal, Brock turned the Jeep...’) gave the writing an uneven gait rather than a smooth, forward direction, and often resulted in awkward sentence construction.

There was also a tendency to combine too many ideas into one sentence, and to use imprecise or overly wordy phrases to convey them. For example: “Breaking into a jog when he heard what sounded exactly like the battle cry that signalled an attack of zombies in a movie, Brock steadily increased his pace when the horde started running after him.” If that sentence doesn’t cause difficulties for you, then you may not share my opinion, but I found myself tripping on sentences like this too frequently.

In spite of what I felt were some shortcomings, there is still entertainment to be found in Finding Margo for readers who are looking for a contemporary romantic suspense that has a light-hearted side to it.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not influenced the content of my review.

Jen Turano has taken a very bold step and is releasing her very first contemporary novel (all her books up to this point have been set in the Gilded Age). I am always nervous when an author switches genres, however, I feel that Jen made the transition very well. This book has a very different feel from her other books, which should be expected considering the setting. Yet Jen's classic style is embedded into every word.

When Margo has had enough of the drama revolving around her life, she runs off on her own. I don't blame her for just wanting room to breathe and think clearly for 5 minutes. It was fun to see how God's hand guided her to where she needed to be. God used the circumstances for His glory. And I can't help but be reminded how often the ideas that we have for our life, the paths we decide to walk down (or are dragged down kicking and screaming), God can take and use for His purpose, no matter how far away from home we get.

There is plenty of humour and mystery to be found while sprinkled with romance. Finding Margo is less about finding where Margo has run off too, and more about finding who she is. I am looking forward to seeing Jen's talent grow in this new genre.

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors—I have thoroughly enjoyed each of her historical romances. As she has ventured into a new genre, one that I am not especially quick to pick up, I wondered if her trademark humor would translate to contemporary romance with suspenseful elements. I am thrilled to say that it did indeed work in this instance and I’m excited for the next book in this series, as well as her upcoming historical releases.

This book would not have necessarily been one I would have picked up without a favorite author’s name on the cover; a “Pop Princess” hiding in Amish country sounds entertaining with the inevitable culture clash, but I usually prefer stories set in a past time. What I found really interesting in this novel, however, is how Turano focuses on what makes Margo similar to those of the Mennonite and Amish faith she meets, rather than their differences. It is a fresh take on the Amish/English encounter and I found I enjoyed it much more than I would have if it had gone the direction I predicted.

I did worry that perhaps the author’s humorous voice would be tamped down in a more serious, suspenseful novel, but that was not the case—I found myself laughing out loud in several moments. Laughter is not the only emotion that I experienced while reading, either; I think it may be the first time I cried while reading a Jen Turano novel. Many, many beautiful passages placed me within the story alongside the characters, inviting me to live in Ohio for a while and share their experiences.

In addition to the ever present humor that I hoped for, the romance is also excellent and will please those who enjoy sweet love stories coming about in unlikely, but somehow realistic, circumstances. Themes of belonging, family, grief, joy, greed, and God’s will for each of us are also explored. It is a well-rounded book with a lot to offer readers who enjoy many different genres.

Overall, while I’ll still prefer historical fiction over contemporary, I am happy that Jen Turano ventured into a new genre, taking me (not quite kicking and screaming) with her. I would highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy humorous writing regardless of setting, and I hope that this book garners her new fans who maybe wouldn’t be interested in picking up a historical novel until experiencing her writing.

Wow, what a charming and utterly pleasant read! Turano fans will completely love this book and I hope it attracts new readers for her as well :) Margo is a worldwide singing sensation who has had enough of her agent's and mom's demands and insists on sneaking away for a break. On her first day, she finds herself in Amish territory....a duck crashes into her, a man driving a large truck runs her off the road and into a lake and then she is shot at. I simply COULD NOT believe so much could go so wrong in such a short period of time for Margo, who simply wants to avoid any attention!!

Gabby the Duck is quite feisty, but she is easy to like and I'm really not sure why this beloved duck did not make it onto the cover of this delightful tale, she is that lively and that lovable :)

I'm not a fan of Amish fiction (unless it's by a certain author, I just don't connect with those stories), but Turano writes a refreshing tale FILLED with wonderful characters that pulled me in from the start. And just when you think the story couldn't get further mysterious or wackier, there is a depth and a sweetness to the story that makes the plot more than just a humorous story.

Also loved FBI Agent Brock and everything he did to help protect Margo as well as help her deal with so many things going on around her.

Even though I normally love Turano's books, this one really caught me by surprise in a great way, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Not every reader will love this book as I did, but if you try this book I'm sure you will find lots of humor, mystery, one lovable duck, a small town full of helpful Amish neighbors who want answers to a 20 year old crime, and an incredible singer who finds her true identity in the last place she ever expected to.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the review copy provided, the comments expressed are my own.

Ok, I admit I pretty much only read books I love because my life is pretty crazy and I don't have much time for reading. So whenever Jen Turano writes a new book it immediately jumps to the top of my Must Read list!

Up to this point Jen's books have all been historical romances with a hysterical story line. I have learned that I must not drink ANYTHING while I read her books unless I intend to spew my coffee (or whatever) all over my Kindle because they are that funny!

I was curious about Finding Margo because it's her first contemporary romance. Honestly I'm not much for fiction with the primary intent being romance -- I really love a good mystery or suspense book that just happens to have some romantic chemistry best. Finding Margo definitely fit the bill -- within the first couple of chapters I was both intrigued and laughing at the crazy situations Margo encounters. This book also had me in tears -- something that doesn't happen often when I read.

Turano takes us behind the scenes of the pop music icon who just happens to become stranded in an Amish small town that is hauntingly familiar. After a couple of attempts on her life, Margo learns that the quiet community is not all it seems. Add a hunky FBI agent and a slightly injured duck and this book has all the elements of a best seller!

Turano has another winner -- I highly recommend Finding Margo (well, only if you want to laugh).

I really enjoyed this fascinating story about a pop singer who sets out to escape (for a little while anyways) the hectic life that has brought her to the point of stressful burnout. She ends up in a small town that will change her life. I loved the touch of suspense and danger that keeps you intrigued. I also liked that, in spite of her upbringing and superstar life, she was still down to earth and had clung to a faith in God throughout her life.

Sheriff's deputy Brock Moore is a great hero. He's undercover searching for the cause of his sister's death but is willing to put that investigation in jeopardy to help Margo when her life is threatened. The relationship between Brock and Margo is sweet. She gets pretty swoony over him...lol. And he's not starstruck by her star status and is determined to protect her. They fit well together.

With a small town Amish setting, a fun duck character, and the unusually interfering Amish ladies that set things in motion, this is a fun romance with a touch of suspense that you won't want to miss! Also, the ending gives you a wonderful lead into the next book! :D

About this book:

“Off the charts and on the run.
International pop star Margo Hartman could use a night off. A grueling tour and overbearing entourage have sent her over the edge. It’s time for this diva to disappear. And who would think to look for the superstar in a small Dutch town in Ohio?
Sheriff’s deputy Brock Moore is undercover as well. He knows Margo isn’t who she appears to be, but her uncanny resemblance to a local Amish woman is raising all sorts of questions…the kind that make her a target for a killer.
Both are determined to find answers, but their mutual attraction stands in the way of either of them doing it alone. Is finding Margo the solution to Brock’s problems or just the beginning…?”

This was completely different from what I was expecting in the best possible way. Even though it was predictable at times, I did enjoy this contemporary by the normally-historical-genre author Jen Turano. There was still the sass & wit you’d expect from any of her books, but there were some mysteries & suspenseful moments along with a decent amount of Spiritual Content that has me looking forward to reading the rest of the series as they come out.
{Also, Margo just happens to be one of my favorite girl names. So. Yes. Character wise, Brock was also a pretty cool guy. But, Margo was better. ;) }

This was a funny, cute, sweet book. I liked the characters and several of the situations that Margo got herself into made me laugh. I wish there was some information on what happened to the next two books in the series - it appears they never got published and the entire series (including this book) doesn't even show up on the author's website. I wish I knew what happened, because I'd like to find out about the other two stolen kids.

Jen Turano pens a rollicking, but suspenseful tale of a pop star's journey from the glitz and glamour of California, Gucci handbags, Dolce & Gabbana jeans, and bodyguards—to the quaint, but secretive Amish town of Millersburg, with its pretty flower boxes in the windows, gleaming white farmhouses with wraparound porches, red barns, and ducks?...yes, ducks!

International pop star, Margo Hartman, has had it. She needs a break from grueling tours, paparazzi, her controlling mother, and literally runs away. A nasty encounter with a duck (yes, you read correctly) necessitates a trip to the vet in the Amish town of Millersburg, where she meets Dr. Ian St. James and his brother-in-law—the hunky Sheriff's deputy, Brock Moore. Brock is working undercover on a case for Ian and realizes that Margo is not who she appears to be either...as she continues to try to hide her superstar identity. She bears an uncanny resemblance to a local Amish woman and her crazy periods of deja vu raises all kinds of questions, as sights and scents make her feel as though she has been to this small town before. But why does this make her a target for a killer? As Margo and Brock begin to draw closer, he is determined to find answers—for both their sakes.

I have heard that Jen Turano is known for her quirky characters and unusual storylines and now I have the facts. It's all true! What a delightfully unique tale with Gabby, the waddling duck, a feisty heroine who frequently shares witty quips with the hero, and a wacky mother who would drive me bonkers...interweaved with a heartrending Amish theme. However, the story lacked the romantic tension that I so love, and the only real attraction I saw towards Brock from Margo was a little bit of heart-racing, comforting hand holding, and the way his muscles rippled when he moved. I liked them, too, but... ;) Nevertheless, the conclusion was satisfactorily passionate and I especially loved that mysterious last sentence leading me to excitedly believe there's a sequel coming—hopefully Ian St. James's story! A delightful, amusing, mysterious, tender, heartbreaking must read!

I received a copy of this book from Net Galley in the hopes that I might write a review, but was not required to do so. I received no monetary compensation for this review.

I have read many of Jen Turano's historicals so I was intrigued when I saw she was dipping her toes into the contemporary genre. Would she create similar witty characters that you can't help but loving and grinning at with each turn of the page? She did...and she didn't. I think what fell flat, for me anyway, was the tone of the book, or maybe more specifically how it was written (or the POV it was written in). It felt like I was sitting in the audience as someone told me the story that was happening on stage instead of being on stage with the characters, being in their heads and feeling their feelings alongside them. Because of this, I never connected or felt myself invest in any of the characters. There were some moments that had me chuckling...mainly the duck. Gabby the duck was probably my favorite character.
There isn't much mystery to this suspense because you know right away, from the first page, that Margo is one of the missing Amish kids. You are left wondering whodoneit, though. But I'd advice not going into it thinking it will be an edge-of-your-seat suspense, as all the "good stuff" doesn't start until about three-quarters through the book.
All in all, I think Jen Turano was brave for crossing genres and I know there will be some who will adore this story.

Love Jen Turano's historical books? Well....suspend any preconceived notions you might have of her writing style and story telling technique and prepare to be entertained in an entirely new way! Still good...but different! So don't let that discombobulate your book karma, okay?

Campy and quirky with the occasional over-the-top slapstick, this book is comedy at its finest. Love the ridiculous in some scenes, the pithy dialogue and tongue-in-cheek humour. And the Amish angle? Sublime! Not quite suspense, not quite mystery -- somewhere in the middle maybe? With a generous side of laughter. And a duck. Gotta love a strong duck character in the middle of all that romance and mystery, right? Book One of the Coming Home series and I'm eagerly anticipating Book Two's release this coming winter. Woot!

Jen Turano manages to incorporate profound messages about faith and family and community in this totally madcap romp that also deals with kidnapping, murder and other assorted mayhem. There's a charming whimsy to J.T.'s writing.

Looking forward to future entries in this Finding Home series.

This is Jen Turano's first contemporary book and it was an interesting change from her historical's. I have to admit, I prefer historical fiction to modern-day so I do like her "usual" books better. This book had an interesting premise, that I was not anticipating, and after reading it left me wanting to see what happens in the next book in this series.

I think a mega-pop star in an Amish community is not relatable to most people, but it was still a relatable read. Jen also integrated her usual her quirky humor in situations to make the story comical at times and her use of a duck to make it fun.

I think the best part of the story was our hero Brock. He was chivalrous and charming and flawed and compassionate all rolled into one hunky guy. I am hoping to see him and Margo continue in the next story and bring justice to these families.

I won this book from the author during a blog giveaway, but was not required to leave a review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I have enjoyed all of Jen Turano’s stories. This one is different in that it takes place in current time instead of in an historical time period. Margo is a world famous pop singer who escapes the demands of her fame, fans, and family. She drives far from her glamorous LA world and her bodyguards and ends up in a small town in Ohio after an incident with a duck. The story includes humor, romance and mystery. Recommend.

I have enjoyed all of this author’s historical romances so I was excited when I discovered her trademark humor in this contemporary romantic suspense. This was a fun story because it was unlike any traditional romantic suspense. The humor lightened the suspense part and gave me a fun ride while enjoying the developing feelings between Margo and Brock.

I have read all of Jen Turano's Gilded Age historical romances and enjoyed them thoroughly. She features brave heroines who are not afraid to stand up to the men in their lives and reach for their ultimate goals in life. She brings the time period and setting to life with her writing. As an end result, I figured I knew what I was expecting when I picked up another Turano novel.

Jen Turano is a good writer who uses concise words to invite her readers into the story. This time around in her latest novel, Finding Margo, is a contemporary novel set in a Amish community located in Ohio. Usually with Turano's novels, I have no problem imagining the setting. This time around Turano uses vague descriptions that left much to the imagination. I had to use my stereotypical ideas to create the setting. Also, she does a good job at staying in Margo and Brock's point of view. They never cross and interrupt each other.

The problems I had was with the plot and the characters. The plot has been done a number of times. I figured out the ending the moment Margo entered the town and noticed it all looked familiar. While the suspense with her being shot at might have ramped up the tension, I really didn't see it that way. It felt odd and out place in this novel. I had no problem staying glued to the story, but it was completely predictable. On the other hand, the characters appeared really one-dimensional. I didn't feel bad for rich, rock star Margo who finds out the truth about her past. She seemed fake and careless. With Brock, the hero, he is in town to help solve the murder of her sister-in-law, but there appears to be something not mentioned with him.

Turano reminds the readers about God waiting for everyone to return to him in time. It wasn't preachy, but it was a gentle reminder that God always loves us. Even though this book wasn't for me, I still believe the novel will be enjoyed immensely by fans of contemporary romance books. Not for the romantic suspense fans because the story doesn't rely on the suspense that much.

In conclusion, Jen Turano's Finding Margo is a well-written novel about returning to God, but I had a hard time with the predictable and unoriginal plot riddled with lackluster characters.

I received a complimentary copy of Jen Turano's Finding Margo from Gilead Publishing and the opinions stated are all my own.

•°o•:*:•. OY! I loved this book .•:*:• o°•
...is how I promised Jen Turano I would start my review (if, of course, I DID love it), because she had commented that nothing good ever starts with “OY!” after a not-so-nice comment was posted on an unrelated review. And, I am happy to turn that around because I certainly did enjoy this modern mystery romance, filled with faith, animals, some Amish ways, and true-to-Jen comedy stylings.

I don’t usually read modern fiction, but if Jen is writing it, I am reading it! This mystery about modern pop-star Margo Hartman had me guessing the entire time, particularly since the mystery goes back more than 20 years. Margo has bolted from her high-pressure life, via a quick dye job and a vintage mini-cooper to simply get away and see where the open road takes her. However, her adventure is cut short, when an unexpected guest joins her, and causes her to seek help in a nearby town primarily home to Amish and Mennonite families. I won’t give the guest away, but she’s a favorite! Seems Margo’s adventure may be only just beginning.

Deputy Brock Moore has been tirelessly following up on a case that he has a personal connection to, when, a stranger shows up in town. Determined to figure her out, he sticks close and ultimately realizes she may need his protection. He’s a really good man, who is too hard on himself, and a natural servant.

I really enjoyed how the various cultures blended in this story; simple country folk, crazy stage mom and Hollywood types, a “slightly famous” (-smile) pop-star, Amish and Mennonite people. Mrs. Hershberger is extremely clever and has a good heart, who helps the story in many ways.

Ch. 5 was a “holy cr*p!! moment that caught me completely off guard. Won’t spoil it for you, but when that happens, well, that’s good writing. Ch. 19 had a big reveal that brought me to tears. OY! My heart! There are times when you just want to slap those ultra-rich, have-no-clue characters. And then there are tender moments: “When he squeezed her hand, and then whispered a prayer, asking God to watch over her, everything she knew in her world shifted.” (Ch. 19)

It is my great privilege to be included in Jen Turano’s Influencer List and I received this copy for no compensation. My opinion is strictly my own, and I highly recommend this five-star book.

Finding Margo by Jen Turano is a contemporary Amish thriller. It is the first book in the Finding Home series which promises to be a totally gripping series. I just could not put the book down.
Finding Margo is a nail biting thriller that will have your heart racing as the past collides with the present and the mystery unravels. A crime from twenty years ago seems to have links to present day crimes as FBI agent Brock asks questions that shake the past.
Finding Margo has the theme of searching. Famous singer, Margo is searching for peace. Her mother has been running her schedules and she cannot stand the pace. Margo, on the run, stumbles across a peaceful Amish community and feels drawn to the people and their lifestyle.
Faith in God has always been important to Margo who loved attending church. Her mother tried to ban her from going but Margo rebelled "Refusing to abandon the one place she'd felt accepted and loved for who she was, not who her parents were, or how much money they had."
The love of money is the root of all evil. Money motivates people to behave in all sorts of dastardly ways. Money will never make you happy, only faith in God will give you a peace that fulfils you.
God is faithful. He will never leave us alone. The novel shows how He delights when one of His prodigals returns.
There is the mistaken thinking that being a Christian ensures a trouble free life. "He'd always thought if a person led a good life, God would take care of them." This is skewed thinking. Christians face trouble and hardships too but God walks alongside us and gives His peace in the darkest of times.
Prayer is important. Sincere prayer from the heart always pleases God. He "whispered a prayer... asking God to take care of her."
Finding Margo was a delightful story as well as being a heart racing thriller. There were some highly amusing moments that had me laughing out loud - mainly involving Margo and a duck or a dog!
Jen Turano masterfully told the story that just gripped me from the start with a fabulous plot and likable characters. I cannot wait for book two.
Finding Margo was the first book I had read by Jen Turano and I am excited to be hunting out more by her.
A fabulous book.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Jen Turano has once again proven to be a wonderful writer and storyteller! I have yet to read a book of hers I did not like, and this one is perhaps one of my new favorites by her. While I am not partial to Amish-related Christian romance, I found it to be very enlightening into their culture, and it added a unique twist to an already intriguing story.

World-famous pop star Margo Hartman is stuck in Amish country. After running away from an overbearing mother and an upcoming international tour, she finds herself in deep water - literally. In the span of just a few days, she is attacked by a duck, run off the road into a pond, shot, and hidden away in Amish garb on a farm. She quickly finds that Millersburg, Ohio is a town with a lot more secrets than it lets on. With the help of a matchmaking Mennonite and a chivalrous FBI agent, she searches for answers to questions she never even knew she had.

I loved Margo! I was a little apprehensive at first, mainly because I was worried she would be the stereotypical rich girl who would crumble at the sign of adversity. However, she pleasantly surprised me by being charming, resourceful, and eager to befriend those around her. Her helpful FBI agent, Brock Moore, was a breath of fresh air. Described as a throwback to the times of chivalrous men, he was such fun to read about. He was genuine, understanding towards Margo, and kind towards animals. A paragon of virtue, is Brock Moore. Unfortunately, he was also a bit dense. I have several notes on my kindle where I figured out the mystery WAY before Brock did. He kept seeing all the signs and then claiming he doesn't see them. My last note on the issue is "Worst FBI investigator ever." But I love him anyway.

The epilogue actually points to the next book, and I am so excited to read it! It follows this book as part of a series, which I know will be very popular. Great job, Jen Turano! You remain one of my favorite Christian romance authors.

I loved this story!!

This is the first contemporary book I have read by this author, Jen Turano, but I can assure you it won't be the last. She brings us a story that has a wonderful plot centered around Margo Hartman. It has elements of suspense, mystery, romance, forgiveness, small town intrigue and humor.

As the story opens we meet Margo Hartman who just happens to be a famous singer. Her mother is overbearing and has controlled her career for years. Margo has just reached the point of exhaustion with all her appearances and tour dates. She makes a decision to just escape it all and get some breathing room so she heads out from California. Unfortunately she arrives just outside of Millerburg to have her car struck by a duck which actually lands in her front seat. Feeling bad about possibly hurting the duck she heads into the town to get it treatment and life as she knows it is about to change.

Her arrival in Millerburg was somewhat strange because she kept having feelings of de`javu, but she didn't understand why because she didn't remember ever being in this town. One thing was certain she didn't want to be recognized as Margo and that turned out to not be a problem at the moment because everyone kept telling her she looked exactly like a local Amish woman. Unfortunately if the press go word of her being in town they would arrive in masses. Deputy Brock Moore suggest they hide her withing the community, but something just doesn't feel right about that.

This is a wonderful story filled with lots of mystery and humor that pulled me in from the very first page. You know it's a great story when you are literally laughing out loud one minute and trying to solve a mystery the next. The characters are strong and well developed. I found myself cheering for Margo every time she was faced with another obstacle. This is a book I would recommend to anyone.

I choose this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Turano has given us great characters in an engaging plot with good scenes of suspense and even some romance.

I really like Margo Hartman. She's an international pop music star. She has just come off a grueling tour and is ready for a rest. Her overbearing mother has other plans involving interviews and an international tour. Margo does a daring and desperate act. She gets in her Mini Cooper and takes off on a road trip. She needs time away from her super stardom.

A week later Margo is driving through rural Ohio when a duck hits her windshield and falls through the sun roof. After she calms down, she drives to the nearest town looking for a vet. Margo finds the vet and meets deputy sheriff Brock Moore. He's taken time away from his work at the FBI and arranged this sheriff work so he can investigate the recent death of his sister.

Margo's adventures have just begun. She is happy to find that no one in this town knows who she is. Not even the handsome deputy sheriff. But people do seem to think she looks like one of the young Amish women living nearby. Brock and Margo go to the Amish farm the vet says the duck belongs. But when they arrive, Margo's life is in danger and Brock realizes there is more mystery surrounding this woman than he thought.

Margo and Brock are great characters. Their conversations are snappy, full of wit and laced with humor. Margo gets herself into all kinds of situations that were a delight to read about. While I am not a fan of the over worked Amish theme, I enjoyed it here as a complementary part of the plot.

I recommend this novel as one with well crafted characters and a good plot. It has refreshing scenes of humor throughout. There is a decent mystery involved too. It contains all the elements I like in an entertaining novel.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

After reading many of Jen's historical fiction novels, I was intrigued to find a contemporary novel written by her. In her unique undeniable Jen Turano style - she writes true to form. Skilled at developing a plot in which there are elements that are predictable - however, for the large majority I had no idea in the direction we would be taken.

This story, on finding your true 'home', with a mix of rediscovery of self and relationship with God, is one in which I couldn't put down. You couldn't get a bigger of a contrast to Amish life than multi millionaire Californian Pop star, Margo Hartman. Margo has completed a National Tour, and in need of a break away from her music and her overpowering Mother, finds herself in rural Ohio. An incident with a duck of all things (usual quirky throwing of odd animal escapades seems to be something we see in Jen's writing), puts her on a path no one could have predicted. Brock Moore is an FBI agent on hiatus in order to work within the local PD, where he is struggling, but searching to find the truth behind the death of his sister. Labeled as a suicide, something just doesn't sit right with him or her husband Ian, his brother in law. Their paths cross at the Vet Clinic Margo takes the injured duck to. A glimpse into the lives of the Amish, and how they as a community have handled the tragic abduction of 3 of their children over 20 years ago, will leave you with plenty of heart piercing emotions. I have so much respect for the choices this community chooses to live their lives. Their outlook in the face of tragedy never fails to amaze me. In the final few pages tears fell in what was a beautifully written moment. Not sure how I feel about the giant cliff hanger! So excited to read the next one! Fabulous fantastic read. Five easy stars.

Thanks to Netgalley & Gilead Publishing for the complimentary copy. This is my honest review.

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors. Her books are some of the funniest I have read. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this new modern day series. I didn’t know if the humor and wit I’ve enjoyed in the other Turano series would be carried over into this series. Almost from the start, my mind was put at ease starting with a duck that makes an unexpected entrance. Then the conversations between Margo and Brock took off and I was delighted once again by the wit. I didn’t want this book to end.

Margo is the “Pop Princess.” Shortly after she finishes a national tour, she decides she needs to get away from her over-zealous mother and agent. So she takes off for small town Ohio. When she arrives, she is “compelled” to stay. Her resemblance to a local Amish girl raises questions that some would like to never be answered. Brock knows something is off about Margo and as he seeks to figure her out, he can’t help but be intrigued. On her part, Margo is thrilled that Brock has no idea who she is, something which has never happened to her before. Once the paparazzi descend on the town, protecting Margo becomes even more difficult. The danger ramps up with a few twists and turns and builds to a very satisfying finish.

I LOVED this book and can’t wait for book two in the Finding Home series. If you like excellent writing laced with witty dialogue and funny situations, do yourself a favor and read this book. Then go read her “Ladies of Distinction” books and “A Class of Their Own” books. You won’t be sorry.

Thank you to Gilead Publishing for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. It was excellent. All opinions are my own. I was not required to leave a review.
