One of the richest men in the world, Robert Erickson bought and sold all he wanted. People were no exception, including me, a penniless fighter. He found me living in a single room by day and fighting in the underground bouts by night.
I was to be family, the son he never had. So he brought me to his home, but he had one Don’t touch his daughters.
The first time I met Serena I knew I’d never be able to obey that rule. Beautiful and good, she was everything I’d ever dreamed of.
Our love was forbidden, but that only made her more tempting. Being with her could mean the end of me. I knew that and still, I couldn’t stay away.

If I Dream is the first installment in K. M. Scott’s Corrupted Love series. I started reading this book before I went to bed, but I suggest you don’t. I wound up staying up until 6 o’clock in the morning reading, because I couldn’t put it down! This author really knows how to keep you flipping the pages!
Orphaned as a teenager, Ryder becomes an underground fighter to survive. He is allowed to live at the warehouse where he fights while paying off his debts to a man named Floyd. When he is almost finished repaying him, Floyd basically sells him to a wealthy business man, Robert Erikson. Ryder is moved to his home where he gives him free rent, clothes, and food along with pay in exchange for being his fighter. Robert warns him not to tell anyone what he does for him and not to get romantically involved with his two daughters, Janelle and Serena.
Staying away from Janelle is easy, because she is a snobby little bitch. On the other hand, Serena is curious about their new house guest. Before long, Ryder and Serena bond over late night conversations in Ryder’s room. Their friendship eventually turns into something more, and they get caught in a compromising situation by her father. Serena is sent to live with her uncle in Italy immediately, and Ryder doesn’t see or hear from her for the next two years.
Time and distance do nothing to dull the feelings between them. After Serena returns, she and Ryder think that they may finally be able to be together, but Robert has other plans for them. He makes sure to keep them under his thumb, and he manipulates their lives in more ways than one. Soon, it becomes apparent that their own plans will likely never be more than a dream.
Reading this book was kind of like watching a soap opera after a while. The things Robert does to his own daughter and Ryder seem completely over the top. It didn’t make sense to me that everyone allowed him to do the things they did. I am sorry that I can’t be very specific, but I don’t want to spoil the story for you. Bottom line, I wanted to slap the characters in the head for a good portion of the book.
Ryder and Serena are not the strongest characters. If you have read my reviews before, you know I love a strong hero/heroine. Weak characters get on my last nerve. I kind of gave these two a pass because of their upbringing and the constant torment they go through. Besides, they weren’t completely pathetic. It was more like 50%. Haha! Ryder is a bad ass in some ways, but that just made me want to kick him for not taking control of the situation. Serena stands up to her father and others, but at the same time allows her father to manipulate and control her constantly. Don’t get me started on her relationship with her sister. Janelle is a monster, and I really wanted Serena to put her in her place in some way, preferably by resorting to physical violence.
Like a soap opera, this book is steamy, captivating, and will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. You will be on the edge of your seat wanting to know what’s going to happen next and if Ryder and Serena will ever get their happily ever after. Unfortunately, you won’t find that out in this book. It ends in a cliffhanger, and you better believe I will be reading the next one to find out their fate!
Overall, I enjoyed If I Dream in the way that I enjoy a guilty pleasure television show. Once I started, I couldn’t get enough! I was invested in the characters, and engaged the entire time, but I also had to suspend belief throughout much of the story. In other words, I sacrificed logic for enjoyment purposes. If you are looking for an addictive, sexy, angst filled romance, and don’t mind temporarily throwing rational thought out the window, I recommend this one to you!

I'm super bummed about this one. The writing was fabulous and I enjoyed this author's other books. Unfortunately, this one just isn't going to work for me because
This is clearly a ME issue and not a book issue so don't let me DNF affect your decision! ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
If I Dream is the angsty story of two star-crossed kids who are fighting for their freedom from a very sinister man. Ryder is a young man who was orphaned and alone who turned to illegal fighting to survive, while Serena lives in luxury and attempts to escape her overbearing father. The more they get to know one another, they find similarities in their circumstances. That bond turns to more, and their love helps them survive.
I enjoyed this story, in fact, it was quite engrossing and kept me flipping pages without realizing how long I had been reading. Ryder and Serena were a great couple, however, I would have preferred a little more backbone from both of them. Ryder is an underground fighter, so I felt like he should have been unstoppable outside of the ring, too. Serena’s father and sister, on the other hand, were the characters you loved-to-hate. So many bad things happened to Ryder and Serena (mostly at the hands of her father) that I will be reading the next book in the series to get answers and (hopefully) the HEA they deserve.

I swear, I must have the patience of a friggin' saint, cuz I just finished this slog of a book. Soooo many times I wanted to quit, hoping it would get better, but not did it not get better, at he I found a cliffhanger, and oh, guess what? TWO MORE BOOKS TO REACH THE CONCLUSION!
I really hated this book, and I'm really not a big hater.
Serena was a whiny Pollyanna. After being sent away (in exile, gasp!) to Italy, she finds some freedom and starts living her dream of going to college. Awesome! I mean, damn, I wish my parents had exiled me to Italy. Like that's even a punishment. When her uber controlling dad calls her back home, she's like, 'yeah, sure, daddy!' Um, what? She had to know her freedom was over, and at that point, I would have dropped the mic and disappeared. I'd go live in France and be a street mime, rather than lose that freedom. But no, she goes back home, and her whiny self adds bitchy to her repertoire.
The boy she was crushing on never called! Oh no! Then to make things worse, she fixates and rails at him for having relations with another woman. Even after her explains that his phone was taken, that he never received her letters, never had any communication from her at all, he tried to move on and had meaningless sex with someone else. Serena harped on this like a tick on a hound - she just wouldn't let it go!
So then she and Ryder get busy, never once having the safe sex talk, and I honestly had to start skimming because the sex was boring.
Her dad decides to marry her off to some dude in a business transaction, and she refuses, but her dad wins with a threat that he'll harm her mother if she doesn't go through with it. So, of course she agrees. I mean, it's not like we live in an amazing technological age where missing people can be found, or anything, and it's not like there are people out there whose job is to find missing people. So, obviously the only choice she had was to go through with the marriage.
Even though she and Ryder were in love, and regardless of how frequently or how fervently he begged her to run away with him.
Nope, the only choice she had was the marriage. So she goes through with it, and of course she continues boinking Ryder, and at this point I'm thinking 'she's gonna get pregnant, because that's where all these dumb books end up'. I shoulda bought a lottery ticket after thinking that.
Mean husband finds out and tries to kill her and kills the baby. Cliche. But here's what I found interesting about that scene: her entire marriage, while she's screwing Ryder and he's jealous, she says that she never slept with her husband, but right before her husband strangles her and throws her down the stairs, he asks who the father is, because "the two times we've had sex couldn't have resulted in that." She lied to Ryder, so I'm calling her a hypocrite.
I'm so mad. I hated this book and want the last two days of my life back. I don't even care if I'm spoiling it for anyone else. Trust me, I'm doing you a favor.

This book was absolutely nothing like I was expecting!!!
I couldn't remember the synopsis so I almost felt like I was going in blind...I turned the first few pages and thought...okay - it's another "fighter book" yeah that's cool...
Then BOOM!!!!
K.M. Scott knocked me for an absolute six!!!
This book was so much more than a story about a boy being a fighter falling in love with some rich bitch girl!
I was literally on the edge of my seat as I got further into this story!
I can't even find the right words for what this book made me feel!
There is a boy, Ryder, who is fighting, but fighting for his survival, fighting out a debt passed from one to another. A debt that brings him to the front doorstep of the Erikson household, where he meets said "rich bitch" girl, Serena, who is the furthest thing from that stereotype!
Lets get real for a minute people - I have so many questions left over from this book because...yep you guessed it....CLIFFHANGER...ish!
(slight cliffy but nothing that can't be handled - I usually hate cliffhangers but with this one I'm all good with it - I'm hanging for book two but my enjoyment for this story and these two characters is far outweighing my hatred for anything cliffhanger related!)
Right - my questions are as follows:
- What the fuck was going on in that house? - What the hell is wrong with Serena's father?
and while I'm on that...
- What the fuck was wrong with her sister?
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!
That's all - not too many questions...lol
All in all this book left me wanting the second installment straight away so to me - that's a complete winner right there!
Great writing and depth to these two characters kept me totally enthralled throughout this complete clusterfuck of awesomeness!!!!
5+ stars for this one - LOVED everything about it!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my first book by K.M. Scott and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style. It flowed extremely well, making it very easy to read in one sitting. Which I did.
Ryder has been fighting for his life since he was fifteen. He has not had a good life and he's fighting to survive. When a man shows up to one of his street fights, everything changes. He now lives in a big house and he's well taken care of. As he becomes the man's new prized fighter, something shifts and Ryder is taken under the man's wings. The one thing that is off limits to Ryder turns out to be the one thing that he can't live without.
Serena has been living under her Father's tight rule all her life. Desperately wanting her Mother back and the affections of her Father, Serena becomes fascinated with the new guy that shows up in her house. As time moves on, the two can't seem to stay away from each other. Their love is forbidden and has to be hidden. Will these two ever be able to be together or is Serena's life planned out for her and she must follow through with it, ending them forever?
One of the things I like the most about this story is how much Serena wants to be her own person. While her Father has plans for her, she fights to try to remain the person that she wants to be. Her struggles are real and sometimes raw but it's honest and a battle that makes you want her to overcome. I also like how soft Ryder is with her. He doesn't hide his feelings and he does everything he can to show her how much he loves her.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing what happens next with Ryder and Serena. If you are looking for a forbidden/hidden love story with some real struggles that might just make you want to throw your kindle a few times, then this is the book for you.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve read a KM Scott book, so when I heard about If I Dream, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
If I Dream follows the story of Ryder and Serena. All Serena has ever wanted is to live a life of her own, but she was trapped and destined to live the life her father mapped out for her. When Ryder came along, she had hope and for the first time ever, felt love. But, she knew that nothing could ever come of her feelings for Ryder. Her father would do anything to keep them apart… Ryder has never known any good. He has lived a cruel and unforgiving life..That was until Serena’s father brought him home. He took him under his wing and gave him a life that he could only dream of. He only had one rule, stay away from his daughters…
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Ryder and Serena’s story sucked me in from the very beginning. I loved the forbidden quality to their relationship. Ryder and Serena were the couple that you just couldn’t help but root for. They were both trapped and had no choice but to live the life that was laid out for them. They didn’t plan on falling in love, and when it happened, I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough. I had to know how things would play out. I had to know if our couple would find a way to happiness. I had to know if there would be any justice for the two of them….
If I Dream is the exciting first book in the Corrupted Love Series. This story had everything from action to romance to intense moments and lots of sexy good times. And it has an ending that will leave you begging for more. I for one can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series and see how it will all play out!
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
If I Dream is the first book in KM Scott’s new series. It’s a great start. It ends with a cliffhanger and I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next book, because I need to know what happens next.
Ryder is a fighter. He’s damaged, talented and strong. He is caring and nice to Serena. Serena is the first woman who is nice to him and they talk a lot. The more they talk, the closer they grow to each other. Their friendship is a secret and they want to keep it that way. They eventually fall in love, but then something happens that breaks them up.
Serena is a young and insecure woman who wants to get away from her father. She wants to go to college and then do a job she would love. She didn’t expect to fall for Ryder, but she falls hard for him. Ryder makes life better at home and she can’t imagine being without him for one day. She wants to fight for him. Ryder also fights for Serena.
It’s kind of a forbidden love story. Serena’s father forbids Ryder to date Serena. They can be friends, but not more than that. I really hate Serena’s father and I hated him more at the end. He only thinks about one thing and it’s not his family. Serena also doesn’t like her father, but she still listens to him and does what he wants for one reason.
There are a few twists and I was very shocked sometimes about what was happening. I definitely didn’t want to stop reading, because I wanted to know what would happen next and what would happen between Serena and Ryder. I hoped their relationship would be easier since their childhoods weren’t the best and they deserve happiness. I don’t agree with all the decisions Serena made. I hope she makes better decisions in the next book.

Fantastic start to a new series, I am hooked and after that ending I cant wait for the next book. It does end with a cliffhanger, but its not too major! This book was raw and emotional. The characters were so well written that I felt everything. Kept on the edge of my seat from beginning to end I was unable to put this book down.
Ryder is a fighter but not by choice, he has too to survive. Homeless and Indebted to the wrong people with no way out. When his debt is sold on he finds himself in the hands of Robert. When Robert takes him to his home, it is heavily stated that his daughters are off limits.
Serena is a prisoner in her own home. She wants to live in the big world, have an education and live the life she wants. Her father has none of it and this has left her sheltered, insecure and wanting to rebel.
When these two meet it is clear there is an attraction and unable to stop the inevitable they embark on an affair. Together they give each other hope and they fall hard for one another. Life is better when they have each other. A forbidden love that is oh so right!!
With Robert being ruthless and demanding how will this couple ever survive???
I am leaving my review here...This book should be on everyone's TBR. Dark, suspense, love, heartbreak and twist on every page I can guarantee you will be hooked!!!
Oh my, what an awesome start to a new series. K.M. Scott really outdid herself with this one. This book just grabbed me from the very first page and then left me with a book hangover that won't be cured until I get my hands on the next book. Do yourself a favor and put this book on your to be read list, I promise you will not be sorry. Just get ready to go on an emotional roller coaster ride, this one is loaded with romance, steamy sex, pain, anger, suspense, and characters that you will love and loathe. Ryder is a fighter, not something he chose for himself, but something life forced him into. Serena is a spoiled little rich girl or so you would think, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. There are characters in this book that made me want to throw my Kindle at the wall, and yes even Ryder made me want to throttle him at times. That is about all I can say because I do not want to give anything away. I will say that although the love between Ryder and Serena is forbidden, if two people deserve to be happy and free to love, it is definitely these two. I would love to give this one more than five stars, the writing is superb, the story line emotional, and the characters have a depth to them. This is one of those series that when it is complete, I have to reread them back to back, and I cannot wait!! I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book before it releases.
All I wanted was my freedom. It's all I'd dreamed of from the first time I stood in the ring. Until I entered Robert Erickson's world. Until Serena. Cruelty and ugliness surrounded me, but she was beautiful and good. I wanted to protect her from her father's world, even though I knew being with her could mean the end of me.
I wanted for nothing as the daughter of one of the richest men in the world. But all my father's money couldn't buy what I truly craved. Until Ryder. I wanted all he was, all he brought out in me. All he made me desire.
Our love was forbidden by the one person who had the power to harm us. We dreamed of more than living in that world, though. We dreamed of having it all, but did we dare?
•••••••••••
REVIEW: 4.25 stars--IF I DREAM is the first installment in KM Scott’s new adult, contemporary CORRUPTED LOVE romance series focusing on former underground MMA fighter Ryder Rhodes, and twenty year old Serena Erickson’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Ryder and Serena) IF I DREAM focuses on the forbidden relationship between former underground MMA fighter Ryder Rhodes, and his boss’s daughter Serena Erickson. Two years earlier, at eighteen years old, our hero’s contract is bought by businessman Robert Erickson, and Ryder Rhodes was now beholding to the man in charge. Enter his youngest daughter, Serena Erickson, a woman off limits to the hired help. What ensues is the building relationship between Ryder and Serena that is destroyed when Robert Erickson sends our heroine away for getting too close to Ryder Rhodes. Fast forward two years when Serena returns to a household that has changed but not.
Ryder Rhodes has been fighting most of his life. His power and strength in the ring caught the eye of billionaire businessman Robert Erickson, a man whose power stretches into the seedy underbelly of abuse and control. Serena Erickson has struggled to gain her independence from her father but the disappearance of her mother years before has kept our heroine close to home in case the woman she loves should ever return. Serena’s defiance in the face of her father’s demands sets the stage for a heartbreaking story. Her father’s control extends beyond the kinship of family and blood when he uses his daughters as a bargaining tool to get what he wants in the world of business and financial success.
The relationship between Ryder and Serena is fraught with regret, heartbreak, and a forbidden love but the heart wants what it cannot have. Two years apart has not broken the desire or love although life continued in the absence of one another. The $ex scenes are intimate without the over the top sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Serena’s sister Janelle, as well as Oliver Landon, a man who sets out to destroy the love between Serena and Ryder.
The world building focuses on the forbidden relationship between Ryder and Serena; the power and control of one man over his family; and one woman’s struggle to uncover the truth about the mother who disappeared years before. Serena is all but a prisoner in the house she once called a home, and Ryder will become a glimpse into freedom but not for very long.
IF I DREAM is an emotional, heartbreaking, angst-ridden story line of betrayal, love and deceit. The premise is dramatic and intense ; the characters are tragic and passionate; the romance is seductive and painful. IF I DREAM ends on a cliffhanger-so you have been forewarned.
This is a powerful start to the authors new series, it draws on an almost cacophony of emotions and at times it was a race not only to get to the next up but also the down that was destined to follow. There was a darkness to the story that while it didn’t hide the light in every character, it certainly allowed the edges of each and every one of them to be singed by pain and sadness. Bad things happen to good people and Serena is a good person, who was unfortunately caught in a web of her father’s making. The guy was an absolute piece of work, on the outside it would appear that his daughters had the world at their feet but nothing could be further from the truth, his misery and malevolence knew no end. Ricard seemed to relish her misery almost, he stripped her of everything that you would have thought a father would wish to bestow on his daughter, his dominance of her every moment was excruciating but when he ensures that Ryder, the person that she needed almost as much as air itself was taken away, I couldn’t forgive him… for me, he was unredeemable! Ryder, fought not because he wanted to but because he had no choice, with limited options to absolve himself of a debt that is owed to the sort of people who have no consideration for the who and why’s in life, he did what he had to in order to survive but his life changed again when the debt was sold on and he finds himself at the behest of Richard, Serena’s father. I thought it odd that Richard took Ryder to his home but I think it was just another power trip for him, but he made sure to emphasise that when it came to his daughters …they were out of his reach, Ryder was warned! But will he listen? Serena wants everything her father has denied her, a life not only outside the home that quiet easily be mistaken for a prison and a life out of her father’s clutches but has her conditioning left her unable to take such drastic steps or will she find her strength and stand up to him? Well, only time would tell but from the minute she met Ryder, she had an ally, they each have feelings for the other and the more time together the more intense those feelings become, that is until her father throws a spanner in the works. There are twists and turns in every chapter, some I understood and some I didn’t but what I did understand that there were times when almost every character got my heckles up. I loathed Richard with an absolute passion, I found aspects of Serena difficult to come to terms with and as for Ryder while I have to say that overall I actually liked him, that didn’t mean that he rocked my world ever page, he too could have done with a swift kick up the butt! But what I cannot deny is that Serena and Ryder were perfect for each other and theirs was a romance I wanted to work, they deserved it but would they get it in the end? Well that remains to be seen. Fabulously well written, this will be one that will remain on the kindle for a while yet and I just know there will be a re-read on the cards before the next book…I think the cliff hanger ending made certain of that!
I’m a huge fan of K.M Scott. I love her writing style and the way she can make me feel about the characters needs, emotions and conflicts. This book was a moving, emotional and nerve-wracking read. I love when an author can bring out not only a smile to my face but also sadness, disappointment and fear.
If I Dream follows Ryder and Serena’s forbidden love. These characters brought me to my knees. Both of them are from different sides of the streets but they were so perfect together. My heart broke so many times reading how much they’d sacrifice for an impossible love.
Ryder has never been truly free because of his skill set. He’s been fighting all his life to be free. Serena gosh she’s the opposite of how a rich girl is supposed to be, she too fights for freedom. Freedom from living under her father’s reign.
What sold me in this book was watching these characters form a bond and love that not even the forces against them could break. The stolen moments together gave them a sense of freedom and solidified their love. We see Ryder and Serena be who they really want to be. They express their dreams, desires and wants in life while living under uncertainty . Their lives and choices are not that of their own. Their lives have already been mapped out for them and Serena’s father will have it no other way.
Gosh, I can’t express enough that the loss, heartache and pain I witnessed Ryder and Serena go through literally had my heart on overload. I think that’s another reason I loved this story so much. The author kept switching up the plot so just when we’d get something beautiful, something bad would happen.
This was a great book, I can’t begin to tell you how invested I was with the characters and the plot of the story. It was hard for me to put it down and even harder when I got to the end. Ryder and Serena will fight for the right to love and just as in real life, they will win some battles but also lose some. I can’t wait to see more of Ryder and Serena’s story in the next book.
AMAZING! “If I dream, will you dare?” Will you dare to love, to fight, to overcome?
Ryder, is a force to be reckoned with in the ring. Winning is the only option he has. He is fighting to pay off a debt. Robert Erickson rules the underground and bought his debt as well as Ryder. Robert warned Ryder to stay away from his daughters Janelle and Serena. Janelle had no problem staying away from him. Serena, on the other hand has an interest in him and wanted to get to know him. The relationship developed as an innocent friendship of them getting to know each other. What happens when feelings cross the lines of friendship and they can't deny the chemistry.
Serena, stays to herself mostly and follows every order give by her father. She dreams of going away to college to study social work. Her father forbids both his daughters to attend college. He feels it's a waste of time. Janelle, Serena’s sister shows their father an acceptance letter Serena received and she is shipped off to live with her uncle in Italy for two years. Finally called home, Serena arrives to find out her sister is engaged to be married. A marriage set up by their father. Serena loathes the idea and never imagines that she will be the next one getting married. Serena longs to live her life outside of her father’s control. Will she ever get the chance or will he force her hand by using the one thing she wants most in this world? Could an arranged marriage be the one thing that pushes her over the edge?
I could not finish this book fast enough. I devoured page by page wanting, no needing to know what happens next. The story is filled with romance, longing, and angst. My heart ached for them both to get the ending they deserved, I was in need of a book to get lost in and this one did it from the vey beginning. If I Dream is told in dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger. The release of book two can't arrive fast enough. This is a must read book!!
Ryder is looking forward to paying off his debt to Floyd. The last thing he expects is to have his contract bought by someone else who wont honor his deal with Floyd. When Robert takes Ryder back to his house, he says that his daughters are off limits. Serena and Janelle are both prisoners in their own home. Janelle wanted to go to college and get away from their father. Serena is determined to go to college even if she has to run away to achieve it. Serena befriends Ryder even though she was told not to talk to him.Little did she know that Janelle would rat her out to her father. Ryder is a fighter, strong. He is very determined. He became very close with Serena. Serena hates shoes, wants to go away to college. She wants to know what happens to her mother. Roberts daughter.Janelle is Serena's older sister, Roberts daughter. Robert bought out Ryder's contract. He wanted sons to carry on the family business. Charles is the man that Robert picked out for Janelle. Oliver Landon is the man that Robert picked out for Serena.Part owner of Landon Auction. This is the first book in the Corrupted love series. This book is well written and the characters are very well developed. It took me a while to get into this book but once I did I was hooked. This book had so much emotion, from Ryder's struggle to survive and forbidden love. This book does end a cliffhanger, I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
K.M. Scott is an amazing author that brings her books to life and her readers experience everything that she has to offer in her writing. You can not help but fall into her story-line and characters. This is especially true for this book. The heartbreaking story of the forbidden love in this book will have you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. The twist and turns are full of angst and emotion that will hook you from the beginning.
This book is a great start to K.M. Scott's new series. I will so involved with the story-line and characters that I got to the end then BAM! Yes, there is a cliffhanger! The cliffhanger is not bad just leaves you wanting the next book NOW. Keep an eye out for book 2 I know I will be waiting for it. I can wait to find out what happens next.
I recommend this book. If you enjoy a great love story that has a few twists and keeps you guessing what will happen next then this is a book you want to read. Grab your copy and enjoy the ride that will have you wanting more by the end.
Thick with tension, If I Dream is a heart racing read. It left me with tears in my eyes, and dying to know what happens next.
This story revolves around Ryder, a young man who has been fighting since he was a teenager, and Serena, a girl who has been trapped by her father.
These two characters are complex, rough around the edges, and a bit detached. But, it's an understandable detached, they both lacked a lot but are trying to make up for it. Serena was very hot and cold, Ryder took it in stride.
While I found the the pacing a bit choppy, it flowed well enough to keep me engaged and very excited for the conclusion of the duet. This book does have one heck of a cliffhanger!

I hate giving 1 star reviews and have only done a few times. This book annoyed the shit out of me.
I kept reading, hoping that something would happen. Nope! Here she is, in love with this man who is a killer and he can't kill the dipshits keeping them apart? Get real!?! There are 100 other reasons I gave one star but that annoyed me the most.
The writing wasn't bad it was just the plot and the overall story. Ugh.
I read and own the Heart of Stone series by K.M. Scott and loved those books. Then I got busy and never followed up on K.M. Scott's other books. So when I saw If I Dream was coming out and is the 1st book of the Corrupted Love series, I knew I was back in. I was dying to read a book that I knew I would love.
If I Dream is heartbreaking good. I have to say I have not read a book that had me crying from page one to the end. My heart shattered for the life that Ryder and Serena have been dealt with. The life that does not belong to them, a life that is owned by someone else. To have every choice taken away. To live in the darkness, and feel hopeless that there will never be peace. Love is free. But when you are a prisoner of your own life, love is not welcomed. So what happens when Ryder and Serena fall for each other?
Ryder has always been owned by someone else one way or another since he was practically a child. A true fighter he has been on the outside and in. He fights for freedom that never comes. Serena is a prisoner in her own home. She loves with her all. So when Ryder's and Serena's life is planned out to lead separate lives, what are they going to do? Serena's father is a monster and I have come to despise him. You will see he is a huge part of all the bad that happens. This story has a lot of heartache. Every time something bad happens again, I tell myself that it can not get worse....and then it does. The last chapter ends in tragedy. So we will need to wait for book two and I only hope that Ryder and Serena decide to fight. To take back their life for themselves and each other.
If I dream was a suspenseful and angst filled read that has many twists throughout the book. This is the first book in the series and finishes in a cliff hanger, hopefully in the next book the questions I have are answered. K.M. Scott done an amazing job with the writing throughout the book, the author knows how to incorporate a lot of emotion throughout the story.
The heroine of the story is Serena who knows what she wants in life, but has to put up with being controlled by the males in her life. I felt for her because of the way she is treated in the book by her father and sister.
The hero of the story Ryder had me yelling at my kindle so many times throughout the story. I was frustrated at him for not protecting or sticking up for Serena when she needed him. But at the same time I knew that he was in a difficult situation and did love the main character.
If I dream is about a forbidden love between Ryder and Serena who both only want in life is their freedom.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read that had you on an emotional roller coaster throughout the book. There was many questions I was left with at the end of the book and can’t wait to see if their answered in the next book.
I have to warn this book might have triggers for some, so read with caution!
Wow! I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the possibilities where this story is going to lead to. In one way I'm hoping that Serena and Ryder will come full circle and in another way I'm open to the possibilities that they already have. This book does leave you on cliffhanger but not a cliffhanger...I guess you could say it Happy For Now kind of ending.
From the start to the finish you will not be able to put it down and if you do you will be hurrying to get back to it. It will pull so many emotions from you and leave you feeling gutted. I'm still trying to not envision me killing Serena step dad a slow torturous death.
This book is raw, dark, dominating, hopeful and amazing. I absolutely love a good dark read and K.M. has definitely brung her A game with this book. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens.
This book is one emotional ride that takes you on a tailspin with in the underworld. You have Ryder who is brought in as essentially a personal pitbull and his boss’s daughter Serene who cannot help but gravitate towards him. I love how their connection builds throughout this story as well. My heart broke for them so many times. I have been a HUGE KM Scott fan for a long time, and this one honestly did not disappoint. I found myself wrapped up in the world that she created. While some may say it doesn’t seem realistic and such, I felt it could very much go with the type of family and world that Serene grew up in. You could tell right off that both Ryder and Serene are made for each other and even though two years apart, it did not diminish their feelings towards each other. There are some things that I am not HUGE fan of that happen in this book, however I felt it adds to the story and the reasonings behind some stuff. Overall, I think this is a brilliant start to a brand new series by Scott and I NEED the second one like STAT!!! Especially after that ending!
This is a story about two young people who long to be free. Ryder is a underground fighter who fights to pay off a debt, but when he is "bought" by a powerful man his life changes forever. Serena lives in a gilded cage, she longs to be free of her controlling and powerful father. Both Ryder and Serena find a freedom in each others arms, but their love will come at a price.
Angst, Angst, and more ANGST! This story is chock full of the angst. I kept waiting for something good to happen to these poor kids. But, sadly that was not to be in the first book, I hope they get their HEA eventually. I liked the story, but I was left with a lot of questions, and I didn't realize when I signed up for it that the characters would be so young. Star-crossed lovers is usually one of my favorite tropes, but this one didn't quite do it for me. All in all a good read.
***I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book***
IF I DREAM is a delicious heart stopping roller coaster ride! That will keep you on the edge! Like a drug or a high. Needing those endorphins. Those feelings that will pull you apart and then magically stitching you back up!! God I can’t even describe the mix of emotions that took me over. But by the time i was done. I was blown away!! WOW!!!
“I leaned over and kissed him long and deep, only making it harder for me to leave. When I pulled away, he didn’t try to stop me a second time.”
Heat Rating:
4 Dreamy Stars! Not at all what I was expecting, but totally worth the read!
This book will definitely rip your heart out… you will struggle along with Ryder and what he goes through. But be prepared this book will leave you wanting more… Overall I loved the book and I’m a huge fan of K.M Scott, but I need more! I’m not a patient person haha.

Damn! This is one super intense story. Will warn ya that's it's very angst fueled and super emotional. I didn't know whether or not I wanted to bite my nails or scream at some points. It's beautifully written. That's for sure!
Serena.... I don't even know where to begin with this woman. She's strong. She is most definitely brave. There's an innocence with her that is very obvious. She has a tendency to stand up when she should probably stand down and wait. But I love her for that. All she wants is to be loved and valued. Yet that's one thing she doesn't get after giving everything she's ever dreamed of up.
Ryder. Oh I love this man. Although at certain points I wanted to throat punch him and scream. He's not had the best life and when someone offers him a scrap he takes it. Not realizing his life will be forever changed. He's a fighter. Literally. He's had to fight for every single thing he's got. He's loyal. He's fierce. Only he has one weakness. Serena. I felt like his weakness was played against him so much.
The ending of this book gutted me. I definitely shed a few tears and probably a few good sobs as well. This was a great book and I can't wait to find out what happened with Ryder and Serena in the next book. Their story can not end this way. Or at least I hope it doesn't. It's tragic yet completely heart warming at times as well. I think think this series will be one I will remember for a long time.
IF I DREAM is the first book in K.M. Scott's exciting new series Corrupted Love. What a beginning it was!!!! This book was so gripping that I couldn't put it down, so it was an all nighter for me, but it was so worth it!!!!
This is the story of Ryder Rhodes and Serena Erickson. Ryder is a fighter, in more ways than one, a man fighting for his survival. Ryder is "owned" by Robert Erickson, a man who bought his debt. Robert brings him into his home - with one stipulation - stay away from his daughters. Serena is the girl who has everything, but nothing at all. She is trapped in her own home, a home ruled by her father. She must live by his rules only. OK, that's easy enough - until Ryder comes along.
The attraction is mutual, the chemistry is sizzling and the illicit affair is blazing hot!!! Can these tow people keep their forbidden love a secret or will they be exposed? This is a beautiful, yet heartbreaking story, one that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout its entirety. There are so many twists and turns interwoven throughout that your heaad won't stop spinning. You never know where the story will take you next.
Cliffhanger???? Yes, but it's not such a bad one. It will definitely want you needing the next book though. Absolute brilliant and thrilling read. K.M. Scott has written a superb book that will play on every emotion. A romance that will have you cheering out loud all the way through.
