Rock bottom.

They say the only way to go from there is up, but what is “up” when you’re born into someone else’s rock bottom?

At ten, football became my first love. It’s what got me out of the house away from my self-destructive family. My love for football landed me at Las Vegas University with a full ride scholarship, and the orange on my jersey was my favorite color…until my eyes landed on the red dress Fallyn wore the night we met.

At twenty-one, I jumped off the cliff into the unknown the second Fallyn McIntyre danced in my arms at a party. I had the greatest girl in the world and the opportunity to play college ball every Saturday. My rock bottom was looking up, thanks to my two first loves.

Parties, sex, and football—life was perfect. But one drink too many, and my world came crashing down. When I chose pills over my second love, my head told me it was the best decision I ever made. The pills keep me warm and protect me from the distance Fallyn created. Percs don’t judge me. They make me feel alive.

Threes.

They say the best things come in threes, but one leads to a stable future, one is my salvation, and the other drags me to hell—a hell I’d willingly burn in for eternity…if it weren’t for my second love.

A bittersweet and powerful love story....
I am not sure whether I love or hate the author of this captivating book...I mean who writes a sweet new adult sports romance and then allows it to spiral into a darker tale of impetuosity, addiction and lost opportunities...

What an emotional journey; I experienced despair, anger and laughter whilst reading this bittersweet story which reflects the complexities of the real world....this is a book about human fallibility where all the characters, whether friend or detractor, are totally believable..... I was fascinated by the relationship between the protagonists, loving, sexually charged, committed but also vulnerable to the actions and decisions of themselves and others from their past and present..

This is an intense story of self destruction and redemption but above all else it is a powerful love story.....Overall I can not say it was an enjoyable read but it was unequivocally an addictive five star one....This book was reviewed for Summer's Eve Reads

We Said Forever was my first read by Marie James and after this experience it will not be the last. I had no idea what to expect when I opened this book. My goal was to read it, pull some quotes and do some graphics. I did not expect to fall in absolute love. I didn't expect that I'd be a mess of tears and utterly broken.

Blaze didn't have a great childhood - but he had football. He put his all into it and it was the hope that he could have a better future. The star quarterback at ULV meets his match when a girl in a red dress catches his eye at a party celebrating a big win. After a stolen kiss or two, she's gone and Blaze can't seem to get her off his mind.

Fallyn doesn't do frat parties or football players. But once Blaze sets his sights on her, it's over. She can deny it all she wants, but once he's within reach there is just no way to say no. Just as these two start their journey, tragedy strikes and sets off a series of events that will alter their future. You are taken on a rollercoaster of emotions as you experience ever high and low with these characters.

I sat in bed on a Saturday reading this book. I don't think I got out of bed at all. There was just something about this story that hit me in so many places. From the impact that drug addiction has on loved ones, to the struggle to love someone through all the ugly - from knowing that you have to move on, knowing your heart is forever tethered to the past. All of it.

A lot of my reactions were very personal. Having a parent who is an addict, I was taken back to that period of time when my heart overruled my brain and I forgave and handed out chance after chance - to the period where I had enough and had to pick me, finally. I saw so many of my emotions in Fallyn. Her choices, her struggles, her resolve. From her struggle with Blaze - giving him chance after chance and battling the idea that loving him might never stop, but the hurt has to. Yet another hit to the gut as I found myself in a place where my relationship was hitting some rough waters.

As I was trying to hold everything together in my own world, Marie James lent me space to fall apart in hers.

This book. This fucking book was all the things. Tragically beautiful. A stunning story of love conquering all. From the first kiss to the last kiss, this book had my gripping the pages as the tears flowed. My heart soared, broke and healed.

I don’t know how to rate it.
I don’t know how to review it.
The book was very emotional, raw and honest. It touched very complex subject of addiction and this part was written brilliantly.
I didn’t like the hero. But I think that the author didn’t want me to like him. It’s very hard to judge him since he was an addict, but then again it’s almost impossible not to loathe him. Good written character, I disliked him, but also pitied him.
It was painful to read how one mistake, one incident can destroy a man’s life.
I don’t regret reading this book. I learned a lot.
It was a great experience and I hope never to face such issue in my life.

What is meant to be will always find its way.

The giddy delight I get when I meet a new or new-to-me author’s words is BOOKWORM BLISS! That rush during that initial read is off-the-charts incredible! I just popped my Marie James book cherry that was more of an explosion because HOLY EMOTIONS!!! We Said Forever is heartwarming and heart-wrenching, a hard-fought love story, the kind that stays with you forever.

The We Said Forever Prologue broke my heart, sending it and me into a black hole in a story that sank into my soul from the start. I knew that this story would break me, and that it did. We Said Forever BROKE ME in the best way!

This tale of a fallen football star and the studious beauty beckoned me, these two opposites that attracted in every way. The blond, blue-eyed muscular, Thor-looking Blaze and the dark-haired and dark-eyed beauty with lush curves, Fallyn, were nothing alike and apart but everything together.

"I'm going to kiss you every time I see you. Before you can even utter a word or try to push me away, my lips will be on yours. As many times as I takes, until you realize you're mine."

HOLY HELL!!! Hot Blaze kisses Fallyn senseless. He kisses her until she cooperates. He kisses her with everything he has because she is everything to him as he is to her. Their chemistry is combustible, their passion perhaps powered by fate.

Blaze made me BURN!!! A fire lit inside of me by his smoldering kisses and words while this broken boy-inside-a-man's heart called to me. I WAS HIS!!!

"You're the only one I see."

Fallyn sees the heart beating inside the broken man. Fallyn sees the real Blaze. This fallen alpha is possessive and passionate, and oh did Blaze POSSESS me!!! I was owned by this devastatingly beautiful and broken hero, Blaze. I was OWNED by We Said Forever.

The push and the pull built me up and then tore me down. Heartbreak...hope...happiness rotated like a Russian roulette wheel. The angst bled over the pages, bleeding over me, and I LOVED every tortuous and tender minute! I LOVED We Said Forever, so brilliant, broken, and beautiful.

Blaze is wading in a sea of sorrow, drowning the pain of his past with pills, depression in full swing. Can the beautiful angel save the beautiful man with the devil dancing inside his heart and stealing his soul? The man who doesn't think he deserves love is the one who needs love the most.

"No one can love me."

This broken and beautiful book gripped and GUTTED me, so intense and intoxicating that my emotions took over where I could do nothing but FEEL!!! I felt every word in We Said Forever. I FELT EVERYTHING!!! My heart was ripped out of my chest yet my soul swooned in a romance that touched every part of me. We Said Forever is a tale I will feel forever.

★★★★★ Forever Stars

"Are you my Beauty?" I ask.

She bites the corner of her bottom lip.

"Are you my Beast?"

Hi there #waves – this is me – the odd one out here. Looking right and left I see all those wonderful reviews about this book here and then there is me. I tried really hard to connect to the writing style and plotline of this book. Or at least to the characters but no matter how hard I tried – it did not work for me. The book was not horrible but it also did not feel good to me.

As I am the only one here so far having this problem it must be all on me I guess but to me the whole relationship felt constructed and more like plastic than real. I am not sure if it was the writing style or if just the characters were unwilling I guess I would need to read more by this author to judge but so far I am very sorry but this book was not for me

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS PRESENT WITHIN REVIEW***

I don't know what it is lately, but I've been so swept into the football romance scene. And, this was does not disappoint whatsoever. It's painful to read, and the relationship between the two main characters is tested time and time again. Blaze comes from a family of drug addicts; both mom and dad. And, because of his past, he pledges never to make that mistake. Fallyn is all about school. We don't get much back history of her childhood, but she seems to have a mostly decent relationship with her parents. When Blaze and Fallyn meet, she has no idea who he is. Star quarterback of the football team means nothing to her. They meet at a party, and she's totally blown away with just one kiss and a dance. And, Blaze can't get her off of his mind. She's beautiful, and of course, she wants no part of him. So...the chase is on!! He promises to kiss her every time they see each other, and he's a man of his word. Blaze is a cocky arrogant male that is so sure of himself. While Fallyn comes off as mostly interested in school and wants no romantic relationship to jeopardize that. As Blaze constantly seeks out Fallyn, both he and she know that he's wearing her down. Will these two ever get together?? And, if they do, do they stand a chance of staying together given the fact that Blaze's past is one of heartache and destruction??

Oh, man, this was another sad one. Blaze makes some terrible decisions and they end up having devastating consequences. True that some things were just not his fault and he paid the price big-time. But, in the end, the outcome was hard on this couple emotionally. I was so mad at Blaze for disappointing Fallyn so many times. She was truly the only one who ever believed in and trusted Blaze. She was an awesome character! She was funny and confident. Said exactly what she was thinking. There was no beating around the bush. She was just pure and simply honest. A very loyal and trustworthy person. And, she was Blaze's biggest fan until he just kept hurting her over and over. Finally, when the climax occurs, Blaze makes up his mind to change and win back his soul mate. And, when he finally approaches Fallyn some years later, she is blown away by the change in him.

This was an eye-opening read about the destruction and disappointment that substance abuse plays in everyone's lives. It was hard-core honest. It effects everyone, not just the individual person. Friends, family members, and loved ones pay the price too. The author showed just how believable this story was with her credible portrayal of the addict. It was hard to read at times. It was sad. And, I really felt for the heroine because she was truly a responsible and good-hearted person. Blaze, when he finally does get his act together and turned his life around, was a fun-loving and beautiful person just as he was when the book began.

Don't miss this compassionate story of love and promise! I absolutely loved it! It's one that you will be thinking about long after you've read the last page. And, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another Marie James novel...

Intensely emotional, gripping, and heart wrenching!

We Said Forever completely wrecked me! The raw emotions conveyed and life challenges these characters went through was so undeniably powerful, I have not been able to stop thinking about this book since I finished! I was about 35% into the story and so much had happened up to that point, it made me really wonder what could possibly happen next. And goodness gracious, SO much happened after that point, that my heart and mind were at a constant battle with each other. From happiness to anger, from the feelings of betrayal to loyalty, and from pain to unconditional love. This story pulls you in and consumes you, and makes you thoroughly invested with everything that happens right along with the characters.

I could go on and on and reveal spoilers about this book. But that would completely ruin the entire reading experience. This is the type of story that you dive head first into; a story where you'll feel like you're floating on the waves of pure joy, until it drags you down into it's dark depths, drowning you in it's vast ocean of despair.

I have read Marie James' books before, but nothing could prepare me for We Said Forever. This book is without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read, and the story will stick with me forever.

Unequivocal love and respect for this book; 5+ Stars!

Definitely not your Saturday afternoon football game! A hard look at the destruction of a life and love caused by drug abuse. Not an easy-to-read story, but one that makes an impact. I wept for this young couple and for the long lasting effects of bad decision making. The characters are mesmerizing and their pain became my pain, but there was also a continuing light in the constant in their love that alluded to rays of hope -- if only. A long hard road to recovery and a deep look into the ugly world of drugs and the additional pain and heartbreak they cause.

Blaze and Fallyn's story will haunt me for days to come.

So, some quick real talk for a second. I think the only thing I can actually say I liked about this book was the last few chapters. But now with that being said, it was so jarring and such a different picture from 95% of the rest of the book, I'm tempted to not even believe it. I don't believe that this couple could be the same as the rest of the story.

Now plot wise, it's decent, but I can't help but think that there's so many other ways it could've been improved. Personally, I call myself an angst whore, I love it. A lot. I didn't find this angsty at ALL. I was aggravated. Not hurt, not upset, just pissed. I couldn't understand anything about this book or characters. It starts off with Blaze chasing after Fallyn after meeting her at a NYE party. She puts up a minimal fight and then they're together. Cool, this is all find and dandy. Until they've been 'dating' for a month and have already exchanged the big "I love you's", and begun talking about kids and marriage. Hello, instalove galore. And I'm not even usually one to call this out in a story. If an author makes me believe it, sure, love each other to your hearts content, but I didn't believe this relationship for a second based on what we were given. And for how 'strong and eternal and forever' their love was, I needed to be able to believe it.

Sure, I get the happy bubble of a new relationship and that they were somewhat naive, but I didn't actually believe anything about their relationship. It was solely, "she makes my life better, she's a bright light." But how? What does she do? We don't actually see any of their relationship blossom. And how was your life awful at that point? Shitty past, yes but currently the H is a football star, school scholarship, and basically fast tracking the NFL. Doesn't seem to shabby for me.

And can I also bring up that the initial drama about her past and family and Charity was all then dropped by the way Side and never brought up again? If you're going to try and create drama, the characters issues actually have to stay consistent. They can't stop thinking about said issues just randomly after a month into a story that stretches years in length.

Which brings me to twist numero uno. WTF? I've been whirling this around in my head and still can't figure out how this happened. And of course it doesn't help that we aren't given an explanation. But then shit flies off the deep end, and this is when I started to get aggravated. The characters were idiots, there was nothing else plot wise to keep it exciting or interesting, and it was the exact same cycle repeating itself again and again.

So how can we flash forward a few years later and everything is hunky dory with unicorns farting sprinkles and sunshine? There was so struggle. I felt nothing. It's like the last several years had just been erased and thrown away because all of a sudden everyone was good and fell back into a life together?

For whatever reason, I had this built in my head to be some epic romance filled with angst and tension. Sadly, I was disappointed on basically all of those fronts. There was no legit reasoning for this plot or the plot twist. No explanation as to why this happened to the characters other than its 'genetic' and the hero couldn't help it?? BS. Which brings us back to not getting a good enough explanation of the first incident and what actually happened.

But of course it's a romance book so everything ends off with a shiny AF cliched bow.

That real talk wasn't very quick. Oh well.

We Said Forever is only the 2nd book I've read from Marie James, but she is earning her spot as an author I can trust to give me a beautiful but difficult love story.

More Than a Memory was one of the top books I read last year so when I saw this new book coming from Marie James... I grabbed it without so much as a glance at the blurb. It turns out that this author seems to enjoy tackling tough subjects. I'm too empathetic, so I generally avoid books with lots of violence, cruelty and heartbreak/sadness. Drug addiction falls into this category of books. It's very hard for me to deal with the downward spiral that comes with addiction, and she writes it well. The despair was real.

When you read this, be prepared for a roller coaster of emotions (and you may need a few tissues) but you should find it well worth the read at the end.

I received an advance review copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

Review by Jen Skewes

We Said Forever is the first book that I have read by Marie James and it will not be my last. I loved this book so much. It was emotional, intense and at times raw. I sat down on my couch and devoured this book in one day. I could not put it down, I hated to let go and say goodbye at the end. From the first sentence to the very last I was completely captivated by the story, the writing and the characters. What an emotional journey it was but so worth it.

Blaze is a college football star who has had a pretty crappy life. His childhood was nothing to brag about, having two addicts for parents, but football was his life. He was determined to make something of himself and not fall into the dark hole that his parents fell into. He has it all, girls, friends, parties, a real chance at going to the NFL. He never really thought of love or relationships until Fallyn walked into his life. From the moment he laid eyes on her he knew she was something special. He knew that she was it for him. Fallyn has a hard time trusting people and given Blaze’s reputation with the ladies she was determined not to give in, but Blaze wants her and he would do anything to make Fallyn his.

Fallyn has her own past and because of that past she has not opened herself up to love. When she meets Blaze there is no denying how hot he is and the instant attraction and chemistry tells you how much she wants him. But she is so scared to go there with him. But at some point she just cannot pretend any more and gives in. Everything seems perfect for the two of them. They are happy and in love, until everything comes crashing down on them, leaving you to wonder if they will ever be able to make it out.

I don’t want to give any of this story away. I will say what I loved about was how real it was. While Fallyn and Blaze may have experienced a little bit of insta-love it was completely believable and in no way over the top. But it was what came after that felt so real to me. They had so many ups and downs, so many struggles and it all happened over time. They didn’t wake up one day and everything was miraculously ok. They had to really fight for it, for them. I loved Blaze and while I hated some of his decisions I still hurt for him.

Fallyn was a loveable heroine. She was so loving and very forgiving. At times I wanted her to wake up and see what was going on. In no way did I fell like she was a doormat because I think it was the amount of love and trust that she had for Blaze that caused her to forgive so quickly. She believed in him so much and it was her love and passion that she had for him that gave her the ability to do that.

We Said Forever was a beautiful and emotional story. For a good portion of this book I felt like I was holding my breath while reading, waiting for that very last sentence before I could let it out. Because at times I was so unsure where their story would go. I was so afraid of what could come next. There were times when I wanted to skip ahead because I just couldn’t bear to wait any more. But I didn’t I kept reading, holding my breath, while my heart continued to beat faster. My emotions were so up and down, happy, sad, frustrated, scared, hurt and relieved. Every emotion that Ms. James made me feel, was well worth it in the end. What a fantastic story that I cannot say enough about. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I think it's safe to say Marie pulled out all the emotional stops with this book. I read it straight through, rollercoaster ride that it is.
This is Fallyn and Blaze, meet in college, he's the star football player, she's the quiet bookworm.
Blaze falls hard for her and after a lot of coaxing pulls Fallyn into his orbit. While the football team wins the championship, Blaze is also injured ending his future in football, top that with after a very short relationship they marry. To cope with his injury meanwhile Blaze is using his pain meds, they just mask the physical pain and don't do much to mask the emotional pain.
Without tossing out any more of the events of the story that indeed are pivotal, but more important that you read them within the book, this is a story of addiction, the destructive nature of what substance abuse does to not just the user but all those around him. What it took to finally hit his rock bottom (more than once) and his journey back to sobriety. Marie did a great job writing Blazes back story and how she brought that forward into the present story. Just how low an addict will sink to get what they need.
I loved Fallyn, and while I'm glad she had support (even from the douche) he was still there for her when she needed him. Fallyn didn't buy into they enabling role that so many do, and that too was heartening to read. There is so much more that can be said about this book, given that this was basically fictional book, she really nailed this, hitting the highlights that are so often glazed over. If you need to read it twice please do so.
Marie thank you for writing this book. If it helps just one person out there who is in a relationship like this, be it spouse family member or friend and or who knows someone struggling with addiction, then your heart and soul poured into this book was worth it all.
A quick PSA here because I can, while the book didn't show Fallyn going to any sort of support group, they're out there and by all means, go!

4.5 stars for this gripping story! This was the first book I've read by Marie James and it won't be my last.

What started out as a sweet college romance turned into so much more. I didn't know what a non-stop roller coaster this would be! This is the 3rd book I've read recently that deals with drug addiction. The stories are all different but they portray the very ugly downward spiral that drugs lead someone into. And Blaze's journey was not pretty. He went from this sweet guy to someone who would do whatever he needed to get his next fix.

I loved that the story spanned years. Poor Fallyn went through hell in that time though. I would've liked a little more detail on Blaze's recovery, although I guess when you hit rock bottom there's nowhere else to go but up.

Definitely planning to read more of this author in the future!

This book started slow for me. I actually wondered if I would be able to finish it but I force myself not to give up and I'm glad I continued
It took about 22% for me to get into it but once I hit the part that got my attention it took off with my emotions as well.
Happiness, sadness, love, hate, anger, wanting to kick and scream at Fallyn and Blaze. Heart soaring with love.
Definitely a good book

What did I just read. This book was
a continuous cluster of a hot mess,
with a side of insta-everything. I
rolled my eyes so many times at
this book I thought
they might get stuck in my head.

Fallyn and Blaze meet at a party.
They instantly connect. He chases
her for about a minute, they speed
date over a months time, and they
then promptly marry. The very
night of their Vegas wedding they
are speeding toward their honeymoon,
he hits a cat in the road, he gets
arrested for heroine, because of
course his drink was spiked and
lands in jail. And this is just the
beginning of this hot mess.

I couldn't stop reading this book be
cause I was weirdly rooting for Blaze.
The author did a few things really well,
and I think that is what held my interest.
She really had me liking Blaze. His back
story and his addiction were real. She
did not write Blaze in a fairy tale
addict world. He was a true stealing,
lying, dirty, mean addict. He gave
up everything for his addiction.

Fallyn was a really sweet girl who gets
involved with Blaze way too fast, but
I really felt she loved him. Now, many
times I wanted to slap some sense into
her, because girl was stupid. BUT a
part of me understood why she did
what she did and that also kept
me reading.

I like the epilogue, because I think with
everything happening so fast for them
we needed to see Blaze in his recovery
in the future.

I rarely see a book on Goodreads with
such a high rating score, and I just
wonder about all the raving 5 star
reviews-Did they read what I read?

Holy fucking shit!

We Said Forever is not what I was expecting AT ALL. It was a rollercoaster of emotions that hit me back to back to fucking back.

This book was Heart aching but amazingly beautiful. Marie James has out done herself with this one.

I cried for Fallyn, I cried for Blaze, and after it was all said and done I cried just because. I devoured this book within a few hours, and I am still thinking about this book.

This is Marie James's best book yet. There are no words. Just read it.

6 stars Ms. James. This is my second book I have given 6 stars too, and I still think it deserves more.

Top recommendation.

This book was so emotional! The author did a really good job portraying the struggles of an addict and the people around them

Ps for safety gang: it’s unclear if he was celibate or not during their separation because he can’t remember. Though he does say multiple times that he can’t get hard because of the drugs, even when he was with the h. Therefore in my mind he never was with anyone. Just be aware it’s never truly cleared up.

An angst filled, emotional love story that spans many frustrating years.

I love angst and this had a lot. It was heartbreaking and made me want to throw my kindle at the wall, but it made for a story where I felt invested in the couple and their future by the end. I thought this showed the dark and gritty side of addiction, and also highlighted how east it is to fall into. It was very hard to read about, but necessary for the story. What starts as your average new adult/sports romance falls into something that it very dark and emotional. This will not be for everybody, but I actually really appreciate stories like these when they're done right.

I kind of hated the whole way the couple met and how the H (Blaze) first pursued Fallyn. It moved verrrrrrry fast and was insta-love to the max. The ending was also not as impactful as I was expecting after getting dragged through the despair and hardships the couple faced for the middle 50% of the book. There were times where I thought I would give this 1 star, and also times where I was anticipating it to be 5. It was a complete rollercoaster ride for the couple in the story, but also for me as a reader, in terms of my reactions and thoughts towards this book. Ultimately no matter what I end up rating it, I think that speaks to the writing and the story itself in a positive way.

As I mentioned, this one was hard for me to rate because it had very strong elements, but not loving the couple in the beginning lessened some of this for me. I enjoyed it (if enjoyed is the right word) and was deeply invested by the ending, but something was missing in the couple's development for me off the jump, which stuck with me throughout the whole book. I do have to say I absolutely devoured this though, and could not put it down. It was very good in that sense, but not my most favorite.

Basically, this review being all over the place is completely parallel with my thoughts on the book. Oops - sorry for the whiplash!

I loved this book. It was emotional, angsty, but the angst I love where I never question the love of the MCs.

It's a hard book to read at some places. But it depicts the reality of drug usage and doesn't use romance as a way to get out of it. Instead, blaze goes through the whole thing. Love means nothing when you're an addict.

Why not 5 stars? So in the beginning you have the story of them falling inlove. That was fleshed out. But once the drug usage came into play, I wish it was more fleshed out. Some parts felt summarised to me, but it was still beautiful to read and the scenes were incredible, I just wished there was more. For example, scenes of Blaze in rehab, more scenes to portray the downfall of Blaze in the beginning. I think the drug usage should've been eased into. Instead it's like a month passed and he's into the drugs and being cold.

Anyways, when he's sober again I loved them together. I loved her compassion and the fact it was true love. I was rooting for them the whole time and I would really suggest this beautiful book.

In a weird way... even though this book had some really sad moments, I finished it with a smile and can just think that it's beautiful :) I'll definitely be reading more from the author.

I'm so blessed and thankful to be part of the Marie James ARC Reader Team and to receive an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my voluntarily and honest review. We Said Forever by Marie James deserves more than 5 stars, this story is a beautiful second chance romance that will make you laugh, cry, feel your heart is going to explode with hurt and lots of emotions but with an ending that is so overwhelming, just AMAZING! Marie James has blown away any expectation that I had when I begin reading Blaze Porter and Fallyn McIntyre story. But I will say for sure you'll need a box of tissues around you with this book. Can Blaze & Fallyn find their way together without falling apart again? Buy and read this awesome book. Fallyn and Blaze's story shatter me but it was worth it, reading about their struggles and their passion to overcome them.

We Said Forever is a raw, emotional, true to life, gritty love story about two people who just can’t seem to catch a break. From the moment you meet Fallyn and Blaze you instantly love them as a couple. He’s the cocky football star and she’s the studious introvert who could care less about who he is.

The love affair is a whirlwind. And from the start, they keep getting hit over and over again at times making it hard for me to continue on. But that’s life. It’s not all sunshine and unicorns and life happens and to some people, it just keeps happening over and over again. But the one constant is that you never feel like Blaze doesn’t love Fallyn. But will love be enough to get them through all the trials they seem to be facing.

This is the first book I’ve read from Marie James and I really enjoyed it. The characters are believable and raw, making the connection with them that much more.

If you are looking for a rip your heart out and put it back together read, then I highly recommend We Said Forever.

This is my first read through by this author. I certainly jumped in on a book with all the feels! If you are looking for a straight forward beginning to end HEA, this is not for you. So many ups and downs. Just like living with someone with addiction, you never know what to expect next. Nicely, the writing took us along on the journey of these two lovers.

Is love enough? That is what we are left with. Love so full of hope, so magically can just as easily become a burden. Blaze and Fallyn have a whirlwind beginning only to fall again and again.

This one will make you smile and make you tear up, but hopefully what it does is give you hope. Hope that we aren't a product of our past and we can make things better. We can have our forever!

I have read one other book by Marie James and absolutely loved it. I was so excited to get the ARC of We Said Forever because I was so looking forward to another wonderful story. Sadly that was not the case with this book for me.

We Said Forever is the story of a college football player, Blaze, who has it all going his way. When he meets Fallyn it seems as though he really does have it all. But bad decision after bad decision leads to more bad decisions.

I think that the potential for a great story was there, but it just missed the mark for me. The first thing that got me was the lack of support from the college where Blaze was the star quarterback. Nothing in the story lead me to believe that they supported him during difficult times and that’s a hard pill to swallow. From what I could tell this was the first time he was in trouble and what happened to him just didn't compute. It was all just a big SMH moment.

Next, Blaze and Fallyn just didn’t click for me. He set his sights on her and despite putting up a supposed good battle, she fell in line with his plans for them.

Now I realize that this is a story about self-destruction, awareness, achievement and redemption but it just wasn’t for me.

5 stars! ARC review!

Absolutely loved it! I was only 18% in and I knew this book would be 5 stars for me! Such a rare instance where I already know this book would be hard to forget. Blaze and Fallyn's love story is beautiful but also poignant. It is a second chance story that had me sucked in from the start; I couldn't put it down! Will I go into the plot? No. This book is best experience if you read it. Prepare to cry and fall in love with Blaze and Fallyn. I can't remember the last time I was emotionally invested in a couple getting their happy ending as much as this book! Marie James is a new author to me and I absolutely can't wait to read the rest of her books!

What I liked about this book was that it doesn't sugarcoat addiction, it shows like something that takes away years of your life, takes everything you have, and a lot of times trying to stay clean before you actually can do it for good.

Now to the things I didn't like it: first, when he stays clean for good, looks almost easy, it doesn't show the day to day struggle.

Also, the book says over and over that he is an addict because his parents were. I know addiction has a genetic factor but it's not written in stone like the author led us to believe. Then is like she remembers that genetic is not the only factor and makes the main character makes random speeches about how the drug use is a result of his choices, when he said that was a result of his parents being addicted just seconds before, it's annoying.

And he has little inside speeches when he's using like 'I'm bad for you', 'I'm going to ruin you', 'I'm selfish', something like that, I just didn't like it.

I also hated the character's names. What kind of name is Fallyn?

Finally, the most annoying thing about this book (and that is just because I'm a control freak) is that the book starts in 2017 and the story goes on for years. I don't see a point of the setting of a book that is not science fiction or fantasy to be in the future. It just freaks me out.
