NMWT-
Beverly does such a great job in her first book telling of loss, heartache, forgiveness and LOVE. You feel for Tess and her family for what they have had to bear but then she meets SEXY, handsome actor, Tommy and sparks fly from the first scene they both are in. Put on the top of your list today.

Shayla's Story -
Wow! I love how Beverly weaves in the people from her first book NO MORE WASTED TIME(also a 5 star read). You feel the sexual tension between Shayla and John as they go to attend her Uncle's and his Mother's wedding in Greece. They get to know each other and in a couple of days FIREWORKS explode. See what happens when they have to return home to their everyday life ( in different cities). John will become one of your fav BBF's! Don't miss this one!

Some stories were better than others but as a whole box set it gets a solid 4 Everything happens for a reason stars!

This was not a normal book I would have chosen but a friend recommended it and gave it high praise, so I dropped what I was reading to give it a go.  As I first started to read the box set,  I thought the first story escalated too fast, but as I continued with the series I did a complete 180º on that opinion.  I started to understand that the whole series was about fate and everything happening for a reason, which made me re-process the first book.  As a whole a series I adored and devoured it from start to finish.

The Mathews family are a close bunch especially after the loss of their father and Tess's husband.  After the death, the family had to rally around their mom Tess to help her move on.  The series starts with Tess being finally able to say good bye.  She only thought she was going to say good bye so the last thing she expected was to fall in love again.

Tom Clemmins is an A list hollywood actor known for serial dating and never settling down.  The moment he lays eyes on Tess he knows he's done for.  Tom has to manipulate a meeting with Tess, but their bond is immediate.

The passion is instant between these two.  At first Tess goes in to this fling with caution as she's not sure about Tom's past, but she likes Tom and wants to give whatever it is they have going on a go.  The more they hang out the more they realize that fate has brought these two together, however some of Tess's kids aren't as gong ho about this relationship.

As their relationship progresses, Tom's hollywood life and the opinion of her kids could get in the way.

"Are you going to be quiet now?"  Tom asked

"If you were quiet for one fucking minute, I could've explained this to you two days ago."

This truly was one of my only argh moment of the series as I wanted to
strangle Tess for not hearing Tom out and jumping to conclusions.  Thankfully she got her head out of her ass and was forced to listen otherwise we all might not have been given the opportunity to fall for Tom.

****

With Tom comes Shayla his niece and personal assistant.  At first she's not to happy about Tess's kids especially John Mathews because of the way they treated her uncle.  Now forced to travel with the kids to go to Greece she's forced to get to know the Mathews adult children.

Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Instantly her and John have a spark and the bond of these three siblings quickly helps Shayla to change her mind on them.  Shayla has a past that has made her make certain safe decision when it comes to relationships.  So the last thing she was prepared for was John.

Another instant connection with these two.  So quick, Shayla forgot to find out some semi important details.  However, those details or low on the totem pole when it comes to the love and protection John brings her.

"Your family should be the people you can trust the most.  Not the ones who give you nightmares."

This story was the shorter of the 4 but just as endearing.

****

Next is the most serious of the four.  Tracy Mathews is the mother hen of the family.  She takes life very seriously in every aspect.  For her success is perfectionism.  So when she chooses to step out of her comfort zone by crashing a wedding and a white lie what she didn't expect was to fall in love in one night.

" . . . I only say these words to a beautiful woman who stole my heart with hello."

Vincent Giovanni falls hard for a mysterious girl but when the next morning comes she's gone.  Tracy thought for sure this was it, but now heartbroken she goes to mend her wounds in Tuscany.  With a new job and miserable co-worker she's determined to not fall in love again especially with an Italian.  Once burnt and all ... but Vincent gets under her skin.

"I want to take you to my bed.  I want to make love to you all night long and never let you leave.  Amore Mio, the sounds you make . . . I want to hear you cry out for me."

When its right, its right.  Why fight it?   For the first time in Tracy's life she's living instead of striving for perfection.  These two were adorable together.

"Do you know what the tragedy of perfectionism is, sweetheart?  It robs you of the ability to celebrate your accomplishments.  . . ."

****

Finally JC.  The girl who has so many rules.  But these rules are to protect her from getting hurt, especially after seeing what happened to her mom when her dad died.  However, after seeing all of her family find their HEA she starts to question her rules.

Unfortunately this leads to a few mishaps that nearly breaks poor JC.  As JC's recovering she comes across her neighbor, Reed Rider.  The last thing she wants is another relationship, but there is something about Reed that makes her look at things differently.

"I don't need rules with you, Reed.  I'm just gonna be me."

As JC's healing mentally, Reed helps her understand why she needs her rules and what the outcome could be if she just let go.

"Did you ever ask her?" "Ask her what?"  "Ask her if loving your daddy so deeply was worth all the pain and sadness?"

For JC, Reed is every broken rule, but for the first time she's totally okay with this.

"You're really stepping out of your comfort zone with me, aren't you?" "You have no idea." "JC?" "Umm hmm." "I'll be worth it."

I absolutely loved Reed! His past is also heartbreaking but for whatever reason they're where they are for them to find each other and need each other. The story was sad but beautiful.

After devouring the series, I fell for Tom more and more.  I loved the fact that he totally new his place within this new family and never overstepped his bounds. He fell for the whole family not just Tess.  He also was a bit of the glue that kept this family strong.  With Tom, John, Vincent and Reed it was tough to pick a favorite but Tom was the winner for me with Reed close on his heels.  Even though I fell for Tom, it was JC's story that was the most heartbreaking.  I loved her story and what she had to triumph through to find her one, of course you can't go wrong with the love and support that Reed gave her.

I waited until I was finished all 4 books in this series before giving my review. Now that I am done crying, this is what I got....
I was recommended this author by a couple GR friends who have never steered me wrong. I really enjoyed this author's no non sense way of writing. All four books were fantastic. The last one was my fave....but I will get to that in a sec.
So....
Book 1- this book was a very good romance book. TBH, I wasn't sure after starting this one if this author was going to be for me. I'm used to more gritty books and this one was a very mild romance novel. But, it was a great story just the same. It started out with the Mother of the Mathews family. I like the fact that the couple in this book were in their 40's.
Moving on...
Book 2- this book was about the next member of the Mathews Family, the son John. He is definitely an Alpha! Once he falls in love with Shayla, she doesn't stand a chance! This book was a tad bit hotter than the 1st book!
Next up...
Book 3- Tracy Mathews, the oldest of the two daughters. She is a very strong independent woman, but she has no hope in hell of fighting off the advances of a hot Alpha Italian! The book frustrated me a little, but in a good way. I felt like it took forever for these two to figure their shit out, but when they did...look out love!
Last but not at all least...
Book 4- My favourite! For the 1st 1/2 of this book I cried uncomfortable run down my face tears, I even spent some time vomiting in the bathroom. Nobody gave me a warning about this book. This was a very "to close to home" book for me. I knew right away as soon as I started reading this book that the author had suffered from some sort of relationship abuse. Nobody would ever be able to write a book with this much detail with out surviving this type of relationship. Reed Rider or any man like him is a hero to me. I absolutely loved this book, and because of that, I will recommend these books and any future books by this author to anyone and everyone. She has touched my heart with her writing. I will definitely be reading whatever she publishes in the future!

This is my first series by Beverly Preston and I loved it. Her writing was better with each story. The first story about Mom was sweet and sexy. John and Shayla's story was fun with some sexy thrown in. Tracy's story was a little bittersweet and then turned sexy. Lastly was JC's story. My lord by this story, I was in tears. Each story gave we waterworks but JC's was the toughest to get threw. You hoped and prayed for her to get out of the situation. Thank God for step dad, Tom. You need to get this series. It draws you in and keeps you glued to your chair from the first page of Mom's story to the end of JC's. Happy reading!

#1 No More wasted Time

Tess Mathews finally realizes that life is about today and not tomorrow. She has lost her husband to a sudden heart attack and decides to go to Bora Bora to lay her husbands ashes and her sorrow to rest.
Tom is a high profile actor who wants to kick back and tack a well needed vacation. He is in the mood for fun and no strings! It is a crazy twist of fate and now they are both in for a new beginning. Tess is torn by the love she still feels for her deceased husband and the excitement of a new relationship. Tom is overwhelmed by his feelings for Tess but knows that she is struggling. Tom finally puts his commitment issues aside but can Tess take the pressure of Tom's high profile lifestyle.
A beautiful story! ~~ Michele McMullen~

#2 Shayla's Story

I will start by saying that I loved Beverly's first book in this series called No More Wasted Time and to truly enjoy this book to the fullest please read that one first! I can without a doubt say that she certainly has another winner on her hands.
We were introduced to Shayla briefly in the first book and had only scrapped the surface. Shayla thought she knew what she wanted and had her life all mapped out. She has the "perfect man" well Mat is mostly perfect when he has time for her. She has a great job with wonderful perks. This belief is sent into a tailspin when she is invited to attend the wedding of her uncle in Greece and comes face to face with Tess's son John. Tess is the beautiful woman that her uncle is marrying.
I loved the immediate attraction and pull they felt for each other. Beverly's ability to make you feel what her character's felt is truly amazing. Shayla would love to do nothing more than ignore the sparks she feels and ignore John, but he is relentless and works at wearing her down. He knows how he affects her and wants more than she has to offer.
This was a beautiful journey. I loved watching Shayla finally figure out what she really needs and wants and who it needs to be with her on that path. I must say I was very surprised by the revelation and reveal of Mat. I certainly did not see that little twist coming!
I can not wait to see where this family leads us next! It is a great series and a must read!!! I was gifted this work by the author for an honest review.

#3 The Perfect Someday
I can not tell you how much I enjoy Beverly's books. This one is certainly another wonderful addition to the Mathews family series.

Tracy is one of Tess's daughters and we were introduced to her in No More Wasted Time. Tracy is now a college graduate and quite a smart young woman. She and her sister are in Italy on vacation and decide to travel to a beautiful sightseeing spot for her to capture the scenery she has always dreamed and add them to her collection. The girls finally reach their destination only to find out that their is a private wedding being held there. JC is the adventurous one and decides that they should crash the party to get the pictures Tracy wants. The best part about this is every guest is wearing a decorative mask. This may work to their benefit!
Giovanni is a handsome, sexy wedding guest. He is instantly enamored by the beautiful Tracy. Upon meeting, JC introduces them using an alias. To not chance that if they get caught to be found. Tracy and Giovanni spend a glorious evening together just getting to know each other. He takes her to the most beautiful out of the way areas to get that perfect shot. They have wonderful chemistry and delicious wine and vow at the end of the evening to reconnect. Tracy types her number into Giovanni's phone and exits the party.
A strange course of events take place and the meeting doesn't take place. It leaves Tracy a bitter taste for the men of Italy!
She is given the opportunity to work for a large vineyard and reluctantly decides that is in her best interest to give it a go. She is not prepared for the journey that this new position will take her. This new found job may be just what she needs to forget the lost love and place her on the right path for happiness!! It may also show her a few surprises and enlighten her on the past events that have made her reluctant at love!
Beverly takes us the reader on another wonderful journey with characters that have wonderful banter, are beautifully thought out and easy to fall in love with! I loved the sexual tension and humorous banter between Tracy and Vincent! Kudos Ms. Preston you have done a wonderful job!
~~Michele McMullen~~

#4 Surviving Broken
I am such a fan of Beverly's books and so enjoy her flare with the pen! She brings her characters to life in such a way that the reader becomes so committed to the characters and their beautifully written story.
This is the fourth book in the Mathews family series this is JC story. She is the fun, flirty daughter of Tess. JC has her time to shine and oh my word what a whirl wind journey of emotion we are taken on.
The lovely JC has learned to live her life by a set of rules and guidelines that she has put in place to protect her heart. She classifies her men like her scoops of ice cream....I like him, I love him and oh my I gotta have him. She refuses to become to attached to any man and does a great job of protecting her feelings.
JC meets Luca at a family wedding and she thinks yes I gotta have him. He is tall, dark , handsome and oh yes Italian. He appears to be the perfect man but unfortunately he is so far from it and does a damn good job of hiding it. He reveals the real him when he finally thinks that he has her worn down enough to tolerate it. He wants her so broken that she can't leave.
JC is a survivor and with the help of her loving and supportive family she rallies and rises from the ashes. This experience did certainly not leave her unscathed. She is now much more withdrawn and protective. She trusts no man and has no desire too.
This soon becomes a problem when she meets the new neighbor Reed Ryder. He is a sexy, compassionate man who has certainly had his share of hurt and heartbreak. He is so far from JC's type that she doesn't see the harm in "being friends". This soon becomes confusing for her when she realizes what a beautiful man inside and out that are Texan Hunk is! I loved the witty, sexually charged dialogue between them. It was a sassy game of cat and mouse.
Is it possible that these two broken people can find it in their hearts and each other to heal and live again?
Take a chance and let Reed and JC allow you to follow them on their journey of healing, forgiving, trusting and hopefully learning to love again! Hats off to Beverly for another beautifully written story.
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

This series is pretty much magic it starts with Tess Matthews who goes off to sprinkle her husbands ashes in Bora Bora she meets and falls in love with with a movie star Tom Clemmin he has so much love to give to Tess and her children but her children are all grown the youngest JC is only eighteen and is the first to appreciate her mothers relationship with someone other than her father now her brother who is the oldest at twenty three was not at all into his mother being involved with another man so soon but he wants her to be happy Tracy thought that her mother had lost her mind but she eventually realized her mother new what she was doing about the time they all came to realized that it was real and they meant to be together forever after a big fight over a picture they decide to get married in Greece On the private jet to Greece John meets the love of his life Shae then a year late when Tracy and JC are visiting Greece again the day before they leave Tracy Matthews meets Vincent and then she doesn't put her number in his phone by mistake and doesn't see him again for a couple of years back in Greece and Tracy takes a job with a wine company not knowing that the man she loves is one of the owners after some ups and downs she and Vincent they decide to marry at the wedding JC meets Vincent's best man who seems to sweep her off her feet until she decides that she is ready to go back home to America but Luca wants to keep her to himself and away from her family JC is frightened but doesn't know what to do to stop Luca's foolishness and he goes to far and she misses Christmas with family once all that is settled she meets a Texan John who seems to have everything JC wants except he hasn't told her everything about himself but JC realizes that he cares deeply for her and she for him. This series is really great with lots of hunks. Great Read. Mature readers.

I LOVED all four of these stories!

Tess, John, Tracy and JC all have a wonderful close family bond. They have each gone through things because of the loss of Richard. Richard's memory is kept alive in all of the books and it's sweet that they still talk about him and that Tom is not threatened by it at all.

Tess, John, Tracy and JC all find these once in a lifetime loves. They aren't looking for it and they aren't expecting it. They go through hard times.....Tracy feeling like she lost her shot in Greece and being miserable for 2 years, JC with the domestic violence she suffered, Tess losing her husband. Shayla having a horrible past with her father and John having lost his father not young and the skiing accident.

All four stories are sad, happy, romantic, passionate and at times frustrating. I didn't want to put the books down. After reading Tess' story I knew I would love them all. This is a great family. One you read about and wish it was yours. The bonds they all share are amazing and inspiring.

I would love to have seen a glimpse a little further out. A peek at kids for Tracy and JC or even more for Shayla no John.

This box set of The Matthews Family was amazing . It was so well write that I laughed cried hurt and rejoiced with all of the characters.
First was Tess The mamma , who goes to scatter her hubby's ashes and finds her dream man on the way . Add that he's a movie star rich , adoring and sounds yummy all equals a great love story ,
Then we have shayla and John whom fall in love so magically and have beautiful babies .
I loved Tracy but she seemed stand offish until you read her story oh wow a dreamy Italian woohoo.
Then my favourite daughter JC ( my own initials lol) who fell in love with the wrong guy , which we all have done . To watch her story unfold add a sexy Texan to the mix Dang !!! Hard book to put down I wish there was more in series xx

The Mathews/Clemmins family is amazing - the men are hot, sexy and strong; and their partners are sweet, beautiful and just as strong. This family loves one another unconditionally, and supports each other through all things. The 4 books in this collection are the best that I have read in a long time.

You cannot pass up this collection of gorgeous creatures! The author, Beverly Preston, is just as amazing and extremely talented. She has a way of drawing you in from the first chapter and keeping you on the edge of your seat through the entire book.

I can not say enough about this series.

This series is filled with so many emotions. Follow the Mathew family through each book. I found myself with a feeling of how did this author know the feelings I had gone through after experiencing this loss of my Richard. This series shows how to live again and bring two families together as one. And then you see how an abusive person tried to come between JC and her family. I can honestly say that I cried, laughed and cried more throughout the entire series. Beverly Preston done an amazing job with this series.

The Matthews family caught my attention in the first paragraph and i could not put it down. All of the characters seemed to come alive. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, cried, got angry, and felt joy. I loved that i could relate to some of these characters. I highly reccomend this book to readers that want a great story of love and family. Beverly is a great storyteller. I look forward to enjoying the rest of her books.
