Fred Archer, farmer turned author, is a wonderful chronicler of village and farming life at the turn of the 20th century. Archer paints a narrative that carries the reader back in time. He brings alive characters and their working lives through first-hand knowledge and anecdote. Anyone from, or with an interest in rural life will enjoy this book.
