*** New Adult Romance *** REBOUND is book one in the STANDALONE Romance series titled "Breaking the Rules."
Jax... Why did he have to be so perfect? After a terrible breakup, I wanted nothing to do with dating of any kind. Trust was not a quality that I was blessed with at that moment, but that didn't stop him. He was the best friend that I'd ever had, but that wasn't all I wanted. I felt terrible about it, but I couldn't help it. I told myself that the last thing that I needed was a rebound, but after that night... Well - I need him in my life.
It’s cute and sweet and packs a couple of big emotional punches. I like that both Lizzie and Jax recognize that they each might need time to heal from their previous relationships. And the care and concern that they look out for each other with is awe inspiring to witness. But even though conventional wisdom warns of the “rebound relationship”, sometimes the heart just knows and there’s no use fighting it. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book by this author that I have read, and it wasn't a bad read. It was about a girl, Elizabeth, who broke up with her boyfriend of three years after catching him cheating on her. She met Jax not long after but was scared to start anything even though she liked him.
I loved the storyline an characters. Both Elizabeth and Jax dated losers. There is no rules when love is the common bond between two people. The heart knows what it wants and nothing can change that
I received a free copy of this book from the author and voluntarily chose to review. This was a great short romance story between two amazing characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.
I will admit this is not my usual style of book, but the blurb sounded interesting enough I wanted to give it a try. I'm not sure the blurb really fits the book, it has the right characters and it does cover some of the story, but it still seems incomplete on what actually happened in the book. But overall, it was an engaging read that despite having some elements I wasn't thrilled with (I really wanted to shake Elizabeth every-time she did something stupid), I didn't want to put it down.
The whole story is from Elizabeth's POV. It starts off with her finding her boyfriend of 3 years in bed with another woman. Shortly after that she meets Jax, who is also getting over a break-up. Although they have a definite attraction to each other, they are trying to avoid the pit-falls of a rebound relationship.
I will say for a romance, there actually wasn't a lot of on page interaction between the MCs. I actually felt like it was more about keeping them apart in the beginning of the book.
It's said that relationships founded on the rebound never work out and generally hurt far more than the previous relationship that brought about. However, we have Jax and Elizabeth fighting not to get together as both are scared they will fall into this black hole. The more and more they are around each other the harder it is to remain aloof and keep an emotion distance. That just isn't going to happen.
I voluntarily read and now review this Advanced Reader Copy of "Rebound" and I've found I really enjoyed a look into the hearts of those that made up this story. Strong characters, angst, dedication, and finally a HEA. Worth the read!
It's a good story and kept my interest. It took too long for the main characters to be established and as soon as they are pretty much drama-free for the moment, it the end of their story. Makes it seemed unfinished but maybe the author gives a glimpse of their future in following ebooks. Jax is a true gentleman which was good to read because chivalry is almost non existent and Elizabeth is very compassionate which is rare in her profession.
This was an amazing story between 2 people who were meant to be together. I liked the fact that they didn't rush anything, as they both recently got out of bad relationships. Loved the characters, the storyline and the writing. This author was new to me but I look forward to reading more.
