Strangers Within is a compilation of four novella and novelette-length works. The stories within these pages run the gamut from everyday Joes and serial killers all the way to ghosts and the hounds of Hell.

Diary of a Madman-Chuck Collins, overzealous journalist with larger than life ambition. Robert Kane Bradley, convicted rapist and serial killer and know necrophiliac. The interview of a lifetime. What starts as a career-shaping interview quickly turns to a battle of wits as Kane divulges his intent of escaping.

The Veil-A simple vacation between friends turns disastrous after a bad decision of drinking and driving. The thin line between life and death is put to the test as Darryl Walker has to decipher between reality and imagination. He must choose to save himself or save his beloved.

Pathological-We all have that one friend that exaggerates a little too much or simply lies even when it's easier to tell the truth. Laura Morgan was the epitome of that person. But what happens when the liar is lied to? Or even worse, what happens when the liar is finally called on her own fibs?

Invoked-Ancient heirlooms. Curses. Native American warriors. Henry Schneider gets more than what he bargained for when he accidentally breaks what was thought to be a simple whatnot. His life becomes plagued by a spirit that wants him dead. In order to rectify what was done, he must find out the truth behind the spirit he somehow inadvertently invoked.

Just wow. Strangers Within is an amazing story that takes you on a crazy suspenseful ride. It starts off with Diary of a Madman, which is about a man who seems insane but he’s not what you think. He goes through women and kills them though you eventually learn why. It’s a kind of edge of the seat story that I couldn’t stop reading.
The Veil is the second story and didn’t disappoint as well. I was just as intrigued and kept reading to find out more but the twist at the end was totally worth it. I’ve always believed there’s a point where you’re just stuck in the middle, unsure of death and life.
Pathological is about Laura who’s so caught up in her own lies that she creates more in order to keep up with the first. It’s crazy because there are so many people out there that fit this description. Such a great read.
Invoked is the last story in this book. At first I didn’t think I’d be as drawn in as the rest of the stories, but I was sorely mistaken. The reasoning was because I’m not into anything that heirlooms that might have cursed but this Author caught my attention with the tale he spun. Such as great read!

This book is four novellas in one great read. Strangers Within looks at the motives and intentions of a serial killer, a near death experience between the veil, an unexpected murder and the consequences, and last but not least a warrior's spirit angered at the disturbance of his home. Riveting stories with unique perspectives that make the reader re-evaluate their perspective. It leaves the reader wanting more and to know what happens next to each character because while novellas are generally short, the reader is drawn into the story in such a way it feels real.

I absolutely loved this book. I had read it a long time ago and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the way J.S. writes. For me it's a great combination of chilling thrilling detail and explanation.
