I actually read the Series in two parts, Feyland Books 1-3 and Feyguard Books 1-3, after getting hooked by the prequel which I read in an anthology. Then I had to read Book 4.5, Brea's Tale, for the full story. It's a great series, easy to read and a fully-developed alternate world, the Faerie Realm. Books 1-3 tell how the overlap started and how it develops. The realm is entered (usually by accident) from the RPG Feyland. The game is a full-immersion, with sound, sight, odor, taste and sensory experiences. Those who enter the Faerie Realm can suffer injuries that carry over to the Mortal Realm, even after exiting the game. Two courts rule the Faerie Realm: the Dark Court and the Bright Court; their rulers are heartless fey who have no conscience or concern for humans (except as sacrificial victims!). The plot development is fascinating; how and why the Realms overlap in the game, and why the Courts want access to the Mortal Realm (to the detriment of humans!). Books 4-6, renamed Feyguard 1-3, tell how the Mortal and Faerie Realms are kept separate by superior gamers (Feyguards) who become guardians to prevent access to and from either Realm. Brea's Tale, Book 4.5, should be read between books 4 and 5 for more of Brea's history.
This is NOT a YA, like most are saying. This is 100000% Teen. Went on a two hour run and within that two hours, basically nothing happened but entitled Teenage every day drama, very slow and very boring. Selfish as all get out teen worried about her own Teenage life and drama. Don't worry about who pays the bills, like paying that private school or tricked out VR set you are using for free.
Great series! Really loved the premise and it’s written really well. The world the author has created is wonderful. A great mix of fairy tales and modern tech.
