When the prince she was supposed to marry falls for someone else, Edeena Saleri is done with Garronia's courts, crowns, and family curses. She grabs her sisters and escapes to the nobility-free coast of South Carolina, USA.

Refuge isn't anything like it's supposed to be, however. The family's island vacation home now borders a singles' retreat, which Edeena's sisters embrace all too eagerly. Worse, the private protection firm Edeena hires is run by the most infuriating man she's ever met--a rough-hewn, dark-eyed, charismatic charmer named, of course, Prince. He's not a royal and he's nowhere near noble, so there's no way he can break the family curse. And yet...

Vincent "Prince" Rallis has spent his whole life justifying his name. The son of hardworking immigrant parents, he's hustled for every dime, finally building a personal security firm with the muscle and grit to live up to its promises. He's used to keeping his cool, but when the high-strung, high-class Edeena shuts him down despite her obvious interest, pride demands he fight for her--even if he has to track her back to her glittering court to prove his point. Only once Prince arrives in the seaside kingdom of Garronia, he finds his troubles are just beginning.

Sometimes love in Garronia can be magic. And sometimes you're just Cursed.

I have been a huge fan of this series, but, admittedly missed reading the two previous books. I received a copy from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review. Although there were a couple of references to things I missed, the story still flowed well and was still engaging. Countess Edeena and her two slightly younger sisters have taken a vacation from the home in Garonnia to visit a family property in South Carolina. It was a property that her mother loved and their father insists be sold. I found this interesting given Edeena is in charge of her mother's holdings and the home was part of her mother's properties and not a property from her father, Silas' side of things. I did not get a good feel for why the property was being sold given they did not need the money, and the daughters and the cousin currently living there, love the property.

Silas, and apparently the entire kingdom of Garonnia are an extremely superstitious lot and apparently the Saleri side of the family has been cursed for over 100 years and Silas has specifically groomed Edeena to be the one to break the curse. Where the curse came from was a bit foggy and maybe to come in a future book or when I get a chance to re-read it and all of its predecessors (I love to re-read great books) I will pick up on where the curse came from. The Saleri's, though they are nobility, could have been the ruling family of Garonnia and Silas firmly believes it is the curse that has kept the cousins in charge of the land and the Saleri's at their feet and never ruling. Edeena has everything planned and knows her duty and plans to do it so that he sisters are not forced into trying to break the curse. There are bunch of rules that must be followed, one of which is that the person has to marry royalty or nobility. Another is that the person must bring the Saleris back together as a family. What is clear is that this particular rule was interpreted incorrectly and the person can marry someone who carries themselves with noble deportment and they have to bring the family back together.

Prince is really not a prince, but, happens to carry himself as a noble would so he picked up the nickname Prince as a child. He comes from a huge Greek family that loves hanging out together and a mom that loves being involved in her adult children's lives. Vince owns a security company and has taken on the security of Edeema and her sisters while they are in the U.S., a job that carries him back to Garonnia to see to her safety and as it should be, her happiness. If he can, he would like to protect her from herself as she digs in to break the curse even if it is to her own detriment. I have to admit that I fell for the trap laid by the author where I waited for a miraculous announcement that Vince really was a prince, because, hello, I love contemporary royal love stories. You will just have to read the story to know if this is what happens. I have never visited South Carolina, but, Jennifer Chance writes a story that describes its beauty and things that makes the reader want to go and check it out for themselves. Cursed not only does a great job with scenery but also with character development and a bit of family mystery. I loved the ending, and you will too. Cursed by Jennifer Chance is the fifth book in her Gowns & Crowns series but the first that I have read. Despite being part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone story. However, after reading this book, I am tempted to go and read the others!

Cursed is a sweet romance about Edeena who, along with her two sisters, has come to the United States to get away from her father who is adamant on marrying her off and she is under pressure to marry a Prince who can lift the curse on her family. But here she meets Vincent "Prince" Rallis and sparks fly.

I enjoyed the romance between Edeena and Vincent and fell in love with Vince with his dynamic and commanding personality and his dedication towards the people he loves. There is much grumbling about the curse which frankly I didn't just get but still sat hooked thumbing the pages to get to the good stuff which was the romance and the by-play among the sisters.

Edeena's self sacrifice is noteworthy but sometimes felt a little overdone but still Vince got her out of her own head every time she was ready to fall in despair and I love him for supporting his woman all through.

I enjoyed visiting Garronia and meeting the other characters that have me intrigued and now I am eager to read their stories. Edeena's father's actions are unjustifiably cruel and nothing about him endeared him to me. No matter that the author tries to give a compassionate side to his story, I just didn't feel empathy for him.

Jennifer Chance's writing style is vivid and fluid and I enjoyed her narration. The story has drama, romance, humour and a happily-ever-after that left me all smiles and eager to get my hands on the next book in the series which hopefully will be about one of the other two sisters.

The only thing I didnt like about the book is the cover which gives a whole other impression about this book and had I not read the blurb, I would have skipped this book altogether because of it.

All in all, I loved reading Cursed and was thoroughly entertained. I loved loved loved Vince and could not get enough of him. Hoping to read more from the author in the future, I give Cursed by Jennifer Chance 4 stars out of 5 and recommend it to all romance lovers.

'Cursed' by Jennifer Chance is book Five in the "Gowns & Crowns" series. This is the story of Edeena Saleri and Vincent “Prince" Rallis . I have not yet read the other books so for me this was a standalone book.
Edeena is coming to American with her two younger sisters to help figure out what to do about the family curse. Edeena wants to do so without the family stressing out the two younger sister. So she tells her family that they are going on a vacation but really Edeena plans to stay with her sisters until she can solve this problem. Edeena has hired security and Prince is the owner of that security company. Edeena is taken back by his looks...Prince appears as a Greek God to her. Also when his friend and coworker calls him 'Prince' she wonders what is going on. But she finds that it is just a nickname. Prince knows there is more going on with Edeena than she is saying so he looks forward to finding this out. Prince is also attracted to Edeena which will make things harder for him.
This was a very nice romance that now makes me want to go back and read the other by Ms. Chance.

Countess Edeena is over the constant pressures from her father to marry, and break the curse of the Kingdom of Garonnia, so she decides to take her sisters on a "vacation" to South Carolina, to figure out a solution at her mother's property. She hires a security company, but never did she dream that she would be attracted to the owner, Vincent 'Prince' Rallis. Prince is indeed, the owner of the security company that the mysterious Edeena hired, and he never saw her coming. They are instantly attracted to each other, but he knows that she's hiding more, and he's determined to find out everything going on. Cursed is the fifth book in the Gowns & Crowns series, and once again, I find myself arriving late to a fantastic party, as this is the first time that I've read anything by this author, much less this amazing series. Edeena and Prince were awesome characters, as it was easy to fall in love with them quickly. And the witty banter kept me very entertained, and laughing a lot, with them, and the colorful cast of secondaries. Together, their sexy scene times were steamy, and I couldn't get enough to be honest. Jennifer Chance has a talented writing style that I fell in love with instantly, and was completely captivated by. Cursed is a sweet romance that I enjoyed a ton, and I cannot wait to read more in this addictive series, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Love and curses

3.5 stars
I remember Edeena and her family from the previous series and wondered about them. The start of this series let’s us in on how the 3 sisters are fairing, starting with Edeena.
Edeena is responsible to a fault. She is working hard to allow her 2 younger sisters to have fun while also doing all she can to keep the curse at bay, the curse that states that she or her siblings need to marry a prince to bring her distant family together. She doesn’t know what it’s like to really just live and often wonders how her life would be different if she could be free and have fun. That’s where Vince comes in.
As the head of the security company that Edeena hired to protect her family while they vacation at her mothers South Carolina estate, Vince is used to dealing with powerful people. What he’s not expecting is to instantly attracted to Edeena. But he can tell she’s keeping a secret. When she shares details about the curse, her fathers role in it and his expectations for her, he doesn’t know whether to believe it. He knows they do but can he convince Edeena to try and enjoy herself before she follows through with what she thinks is expected of her?
This is an interesting story about family obligations, expectations and loyalty. I enjoyed it, I liked the Edeena/Vince dynamic and I especially enjoyed the love the sisters have fir each other. I’m looking forward to the next book with Caro as the lead.

A sweet romance!

Cursed has a slow start--there's a lot of ominous grumbling about the "curse" which admittedly I might have just skimmed through, because I just wanted to get to the good stuff, which would explain why it seemed like they were making a big deal out of...well, not very much (for a cursed family, they sure seemed to be doing okay, honestly) but after about 40% or so things started to pick up. Vince and Edeena were very cute together--her determination to sacrifice herself for her sisters got to be a bit much at times, but every time Vince managed to get her out of her own head for a few minutes it was easy for the reader to forget all the drama as well. And the his big romantic gesture? Makes everything that came before it pale by comparison :)

Though it's fifth in the Gowns & Crowns series, it's almost a spin-off of the original four, and would work fine as a standalone. The H/h from the other books make appearances, but it's not necessary to have read their books...yet ;)...to enjoy this one.

Rating: 4 stars / B+

This is book #5 in the Gowns & Crowns series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. I recommend for complete understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers, I think this incredible series should be read in order.

Vincent AKA “Prince" has been hired to watch over the semi-royal family of sisters who have arrived here in South Carolina. He cannot help being attracted to the oldest of the siblings, Edeena. She is the one who hired his company. Now he must find out what this is all about.

Edeena must make a path for her sisters to build upon. She has to fulfill a family dream in order to break a long ago curse. What she wants really will not matter. If she let's time run out, there are more consequences to come. And.... time is running out.

This series just has so many surprises! These characters are just amazing. The banter is funny. The sexy times are hot. This is just such a fun read. This author never lets me down.

I liked this one. Edeena is determined to save her sisters from her father's ideas of the family curse. She takes them away to her mother's favorite retreat when she were living and it will be their vacation. Neither sister knows what she is planning and both would object. When she meets the head of the security team he hired, there is instant attraction. Still she needs to find a prince to marry and break the curse.
I loved Vincent, he is the tall dark and handsome hero that everyone wants. He is also determined that Edeena shouldn't throw her life away. Edeena is great. She wants so bad to protect her sisters from everything that she is willing to sacrifice her freedom and happiness to achieve that. I liked the attraction and the family interaction (except for the father). The aunt/cousin was a favorite as well.
It was a 4/5 for me and I hope to read books about these sisters soon!!

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book (via Barclay). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

this moved a little slow for me for most of the first half. I felt like nothing was happening except to talk about the curse and what could be done to break it. After about the 45% mark though, things improved.

Vince was adorable! He was loyal and protective and I loved that he wanted more for Edeena than she could see herself having.

*thanks to Barclay PR for sharing a copy of this with me*

For what I read it was a good book. But I figured the plot out way too early on too stay interested till the end. Suffice to say I didn’t finish the book. But over all the time period was very fast but the actual ness of everything going on was so ridiculously slow. Passionate but not a lot of passion.

Meh.... premise some where in lost and found

This book was highly annoying. The curse which was no real curse at all was repetitive and unnecessary. The way in which the hero and heroine came to be just plain ridiculous. This book needs editing and to be organized. Writing was childish and sporadic.

Must read!

This book series just keeps getting better. Cursed was a great story beginning to end. A nice feature is that it stands on its own(although I would recommend reading te series from the start). Character and story development is great and you really get wrapped up in every detail. I can't wait to read the next book in the series ^_^

Another great story of the series

Just when you think the curse will win as there are no more Princes....there is a solution that doesn’t happen easily or quickly. A lovely story. Can’t wait to read the next one!

An unlikely but almost fairy tale romance.

I enjoyed reading this book and the fairy tale type story was sweet and I love a good happily ever after, but I kept having to remind myself not be so critical because of the impossibility of the story. It's fiction, just enjoy it.

I struggled with the actual story for most of the book. I just found it to be unbelievable. Ie,The ‘consenting adults’ and the reason why the pair share their first kiss etc... anyway once the story moved to her home country, I did enjoy it and gave it’s extra half star.

Hmm. 2.75 stars

It was different. Odd actually. The need for security was a little unlear as was the threat from her father. Or the curse. Maybe it was me but it was just an ok read.

I won’t read the continuation of the story.

Aaaah the poor little rich princess needs to break a curse.
It was so far fetched that it became ridiculous.
Couldn’t get into it because the princess was an arrogant and judgmental woman.
