I gave this book 3 stars, not because it was an unpleasant read, but because I couldn’t warm up to the two main characters, Stryker and Zephyra, no matter how hard I tried. I wouldn’t say that I was disappointed with this book; in fact, it was exactly what I expected before I reluctantly went into the story.
Stryker has been a villain since book 3 in this series so when he has become the male lead in this book, I couldn't care less about him or Zephyra. And the funny thing was that I found Zephyra is even more evil than him. Honestly, I had no interest in reading their love-hate story but I picked up this one because I wanted to know what would happen to Acheron and Nick. Even though Stryker secretly has his soft side or whatever, who cares? He’s still wanted to kill Acheron and that alone made it difficult for me to get through the sex scenes between these two malicious people.
I didn’t want to know if they would love, or hate, or kill each other!
Aside from Stryker and Zephyra’s love life, I found the rest of the book was very impressive. I was happy every time Acheron showed up in a scene. The cutest part in this story was when Simi slammed Aima against War and then she said, “The Simi can’t be bothered with no Greek god messing with the one who pays the plastic bills.” Then she asked Acheron to give her his credit card. And before she left for shopping, she gave her ‘Teddy Scare’ to Nim, Jared’s demon, and told him that it was much more fierce than his bunny. Aww… Simi, Simi, you’re a little cute demon!
By the way, I enjoyed everything in this book except Stryker and Zephyra.
Off to the next book!

Strykerius or Stryker (Spathi Daimon) and Zephyra or Phyra (Daimon with extra demon abilities)
“Who are you, Stykerius?”
“I’m a lost soul,” he breathed quietly. “I had a purpose at one time, but I stumbled on the path of it.”
“And now?”
Right, so this is the story of Stryker and Phyra. Styker had not been really likable or friendly in the series so far. He is one of Acheron’s worst enemies. In this book, he tries to kill Acheron and Nick Gautier in order to avenge his dead sister.
Thus, he orders War after them.
His ex-wife suddenly appears. Phyra was sent by Artemis in order to kill Stryker. She is bitter and angry with him because he left her and their child a few thousand years ago and he never looked for her. Now she wants to kill him and he wants her back.
As their story in the book proceeds, I realized that there was no way I will like either Stryker or Phyra before the end of the book. Or maybe ever in my lifetime.
They are both evil and mean.
Stryker has his strange morals and ethics (he will never eat any children to feed etc.) and Phyra has her reasons (she saw her son in law and her grandson killed by humans),
BUT still I did not really care for their pain or about their undoubted love.
However I liked the book for 4 reasons:
1. For the other main characters. It is nice to see Acheron and Nick fight together.
2. For the continuation of background Dark Hunters story. There are secrets and revelations about Nick . And the Daimons are about to change their way of life.
3. It is interesting to see how two persons that most of the readers have hated or will hate, are getting a second chance and fall in love for a second time.
4. The final battle where friends and enemies are united in order to defeat a common threat.

Hmm, not exactly easy to love a story when you hate the characters. And, these main characters are despicable.
In this case, they are definitely the assholes!
We have Stryker, the bad guy from the series who slit his own son's throat for marrying a girl he didn't approve of; and his ex-wife, Zephyra, a demon bitch woman who is actively torturing some poor guy in her dungeon.
Just a few hundred centuries...
Stryker has released War -an ancient god of war - to kill Ash and Nick. Artemis wants to protect Ash, so she sends Zephyra out to kill Stryker - her ex. Well, who doesn't want to kill their ex?
That's what I thought...
Zephyra happily takes this assignment. But wait!!! Stryker feels bad about leaving Zephyra and is still in love with her! I mean, who wouldn't be pining after a heartless cold bitch for centuries?
Stryker's perfect woman...
But, you know, even stories about horrible, evil people can be cool when they find love and redemption. It is touching to see how love can warm even the coldest of hearts and turn the worst people into compassionate caring beings...
Uh, no. That is not what happens. They find love all right, but she continues to torture the dude and he continues to try to kill all humans, and Ash.
They go from being two bitter, ugly people to being a bitter, ugly couple.
In this case, they are definitely the assholes!

Well, this book has shown me that I am a fickle, fickle, sappy reader. It’s taken Stryker, a character that I have hated and wished dead through 15 books of the Dark Hunter series, and made me love him a little bit. God, I disgust myself! Regardless, I loved this book! Especially getting inside of Stryker’s head, seeing his regret at what he’s done in the past, and understanding why he is the way he is.
The book starts with Stryker unleashing an ancient God, War, to destroy his worst enemies – his father, Apollymi, Acheron and Nick Gautier - and, most likely, himself - as well as most of mankind. In order to fight back, the Gods order Stryker’s death, however, in an interesting twist (thanks to Artemis - the scheming witch), the assassin is Stryker’s ex-wife, Zephyra. Talk about an evil bitch! OMG, this woman was a piece of work. Stryker has always loved Zephyra and, thinking her dead, has missed her terribly since they were torn apart 11,000 years ago, however Zephyra has been very much alive and has spent every day since hating Stryker with a passion, so she’s more than happy to kill him. And just to add to the fun, when Stryker learns this (and even though he’s just unleashed the ultimate evil onto the earth) he is still feeling playful enough to make a bet with his ex-wife that he can win her back in two weeks - if not, he will let her kill him.
So that’s the set up. The storyline from there weaves all over the place as usual, with fights, MAJOR plot twists, and big reveals occurring throughout. There is also quality time with Acheron (squee), Savitar (squee), Nick (squee), and a new character – Jared (squee). We only learn a little bit about him, but he’s another epic Acheron-like character that I already love, and can’t wait to see more of! And in the final fight scene, all of the boys come together, along with Kat, Simi, Tory, Hades and others to bring down the bad guy. And it’s freaking brilliant!
“You know you’re the only man alive I’d ever follow after what I’ve been through. You’re also the only one I respect.”
“And you’re one of the extremely few I trust.”
Urian held his hand up to him. “Brothers?”
“Brothers to the end,” Ash said, taking his hand and clutching it tight. “Now before we get all girly and cry, get your ass upstairs and prepare for what’s coming.
But Stryker is definitely the main character of the book, and however evil he is, Kenyon did make me feel for him, and I even kinda like him a little bit now. Who knew the big, bad guy could get so freaking swoony? Zephyra is an evil bitch, but I liked the chemistry that was still obviously between them (steamy much? Whoa!) as well as watching them battle it out to overcome what happened to them in the past and move forward. Both of them are still definitely bad guys, but I was glad that after all they had been through, they still got their HEA in the end.
“You are my life,” he said, his voice cracking. “And I can’t live another day without you.”
I have heard that people skip this book, thinking that because it’s Stryker it’s not exciting, or a necessary part of the story. DON’T DO IT! Every book in this series is an important piece of the overall puzzle, and nothing should be missed! Every little thing that happens, however small, has repercussions later. It’s what makes this series such an incredible ride! I’m loving it!
I was going to go with 4 stars, but went the extra because SO much happened, and it was such a mix of action, drama, funny, swoony and steamy, and I squeed so much at the end there it was embarrassing. And with all of the plot twisting going on, it’s just such a cleverly written book.
5 stars, all the way!
And just to finish off - there is sensational bantering in this book, and I found myself laughing out loud at these gods and goddesses and beings of ultimate power bitchfighting like children. I’ll leave you with this scene that had me in hysterics…
"We have to find some way to contain War."
Savitar gave him a droll glare. "You're the one who unleashed him."
"Yeah, well, let's move on from the blame game. I was having suicidal thoughts and it seemed like a good idea at the time. In retrospect, not so much."
"Most major mistakes do," Apollymi said quietly. "Not many people carry out thoughts they know going into it are stupid... morons not included."
Savitar laughed. "Then that leaves you out, huh, Stryker."
He glared at Savitar. "For the record, we're not friends."
"For the record, I don't care."
"Enough, children," Apollymi said between clenched teeth. "In case you haven't noticed, we have a major situation playing out. We have to find and stop War, corral the gallu, protect Apostolos, and get Savitar out of here."
"Why the latter?" Jared asked.
"Because I hate his guts."
Savitar shook his head. "I hate you too, precious."
She sneered at him. "Put on some real clothes. What is that you're wearing and does it come in adult sizes?"
He looked highly offended by her attack on his wardrobe. "Cargo pants and a Hawaiian shirt are real clothes."
"Not in my realm they're not, and button that shirt."
"Hey!" he snapped as the shirt closed itself. "You know there are woman who would pay to see me naked."
"I'm sure there are women you pay to see you naked. Perish the thought, but I'm not one of either group. Now hush while I think.

The Dark-Hunter book that fell in the shadow of the awesome Acheron was always going to have a tough time. Kenyon took a risk and gave us something different: Stryker's story. Surprisingly it really worked and I loved this!
Stryker is the evil Lord of the Daimons. His kind prey on human souls to elongate their own cursed lives and hare the very creatures the Dark-Hunters were created to fight! He has been the mortal enemy of pretty much every Hero and Heroine we have read about in the series so far. Not a shock given that he hates the human race with a passion, wants to kill the God who's powers and life force are joined to that of the sun(his father, Apollo), and wants to break the Great Destroyer(Apollymi) free from the Atlantean hell realm so she can wreak her vengeance upon the world. Given all that you would think that Kenyon would have a tough job telling a romance story about him and convincing the reader to stop hating him for long enough to care about that story. She managed both though and this turned out to be another great instalment of the series.
Needing allies in his war with the Dark-Hunters Stryker frees an ancient enemy of the Gods upon the condition that the primal God, War, kills Acheron and Nick in return for his freedom. This attack on Acheron sparks Artemis into a rage and she sends one of her own assassins out to put a stop to Stryker once and for all. That assassin is none other that Stryker's ex-wife Zephyra. The ex-wife he abandoned back in his mortal days and who has loathed him ever since. Her arrival in Katateros is like a shock through Stryker's heart and he is forced to confront feelings he has not dealt with since his mortal days.
I quite liked the story. Stryker is still a villain but it was hard not to root for him and Zephyra after hearing the story of their past. They made a good couple and will be a team the Dark-Hunters will have to be extra wary of in the future. There was also a tiny hint that there is still a chance for the pair to find some redemption in the future.
Outside of the main love story we also got a ton of additional happenings. We got two major happenings that should have a big impact of the whole direction of the future books in the series. One involved the Daimons and the other was connected to Nick. We also got to meet a few interesting new characters. Most interesting was the mysterious Jared, but I also quite liked Stryker's daughter and the Daimon who was his first in command. I'd like to see more of all three characters in future books. On top of that we got a few more scenes with Savitar and Apollymi, and I swear I'm detecting some romantic tension between the pair!
All in all I found this to be a surprisingly enjoyable tale.
Rating: 4.5 stars.
Audio Note. This one was narrated by William Dufris . It would have been better if Holter Graham or Fred Berman was the narrator as they both do a fantastic job with the Dark-Hunter stories and are surprisingly in sync when it comes to pronunciations and character interpretations. That is not to say Dufris did a bad job. I thought he gave a decent performance, the only let down in his performance was the different way he pronounced a ton of familiar names.

Stryker... I didn't expect that I would like him. Ever. The author really has that gift to tell everyone's story. And those stories never leave you indifferent.

Stryker wanted revenge against Acheron & Nick for the death of his son so he releases Aries, the god of war and bargains for Aries to kill Ach & Nick.
To thwart Stryker, Artemis enlists the Zephyra, Stryker's ex-wife to stop Stryker's plan. So now the ex lovers are on a collision course to fight it out, along with their personal issues.
This series is iffy for me but this book was one of the good ones. I didn't enjoy Acheron as much as others, but this one was enjoyable. We get to see how Artemis and Apollo have manipulated the hunters over hundreds of years. What I enjoyed most is the complexity of Stryker as a character. I wouldn't call him a super good hero, but he isn't a bad guy either. He is what the gods made him and I found that I like him as a protagnoist.
The couple had great chemisty and I am glad that the love was restored for Stryker and Phyra. I think I will get back to this series now.

Stryker is not all evil, he had been wounded so deeply that his heart just went black. There was a great love once, his father and his youth tore her away and scarred him for thousands of years. When War is released to kill Nick and Ash things go wrong and Stryker must deal with his past and work with his enemies.
This was a short read filled with some background on Stryker which was very interesting. We see how he was formed into his big bad self was not as heartbreaking as some of the other characters but it was understandable. It was just a brief look at him, maybe to brief and his recovered love was too easy. I just didn't connect with this story much it lacked the intensity and the details of previous stories.

When I read this series I made the decision not to read this book because of the MCs. I am not a fan of evil getting an HEA.
I was recently reading reviews and read a compelling one that said notwithstanding the romance between the MCs, the book was important to the overall storyline. So I decided to give it a try.
As someone who skipped the book, I can attest that the book IS important to the storyline. Things I was confused over were explained here.
As for the MCs, my feelings did not change. I did not like them, did not like their history and had no desire for them to get back together. Unlike in books where I am upset over an MCs actions because I am rooting for the romance, there was none of that here. I did not care much about the past or present. Yes it was kind of tragic, but whatever. You reap what you sow.
My 3 stars are for the storyline and other characters. I am happy I went back to this one.

Really? ...I mean REALLY? I used to love Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. Now I'm seriously wondering why. This was quite possibly the stupidest book I've ever read. A love story about the selfish bad guy (and I'm not talking about smoking-hot-bad-guy but bad guy that kills people to get what he wants and thinks the whole world is against him) and the woman he divorced a thousand or so years ago, and low and behold they still have feelings for each other. Who really cares about them? Why the heck did I read the whole book? Never again.

So Stryker is a vengeful jerk and he found his perfect match in Zephyra his first wife (who he had abandoned a billion years ago when his father threatened them).
Sorry if Kenyon was trying to soften me towards him or her.
This book did nothing to make me like Stryker more - he still wants to destroy mankind for revenge/jealousy and he still wants to kill Acheron and Nick. Zephyra seemed to be a good person when she was human but she's become just as vengeful. She has good reason to be mad but blaming mankind for the actions of a few terrible people seems ridiculous. Hello APOLLO is the one to blame for most of these problems. Plus she keeps a guy chained up in basement and tortures him because he betrayed his kind a few thousand years ago.
Luckily the book was not very long, so I didn't have to deal with two characters I disliked too long. Plus there were important plot developments to keep me interested.
I loved the cameos of other characters and we learned new things about some of them. Nick seemed to soften a tad but he's still an idiot for blaming Acheron for his mother's death.
I liked Jared's slug demon, I hope we see him again sometime soon. and Simi as usual had the best lines in the book.

Let's face it Acheron is a hard act to follow so any hero that came next was going to have his work cut out. I wasn't convinced that Stryker was the best choice, considering all the horrible things we've seen him do throughout the series he was always going to be hard to sell as a hero for me, but I trust Sherrilyn Kenyon and I do adore a great redemption story so I was willing to give One Silent Night the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, no matter how much I wanted to love this story, it just completely failed to win me around.
Stryker in no way managed to redeem himself and he didn't even attempt to make amends for his previous actions. He doesn't seem to think he's done anything wrong and he's STILL plotting against Acheron and the other Dark-Hunters. Zephyra is just as bad and the two of them are determined to destroy all of humanity because of the actions of a few humans centuries ago. I get that the daimons have had a rubbish hand dealt to them but they're not the only people who have had their lives messed up by the gods. They aren't the only ones suffering from curses and we've all just read in great detail about how much crap Acheron has put up with over the centuries but you don't see him plotting mass genocide!
I just don't understand how I'm supposed to feel any sympathy for either of these characters, in fact the best thing I have to say about them is that they deserve each other. At least this way nobody else has to put up with either of them! These two just don't deserve to be happy, I'd rather see them locked up together in a dungeon somewhere to live a miserable eternity of constant fighting until one of them finally murders the other and puts us all out of our misery.
The only thing that makes this book worth reading are the scenes with Acheron or Nick, those two characters steal the show every time they step onto the page and there are some really interesting developments there that I'm glad I found out before continuing the series. That's the only thing stopping me from telling other fans to just skip this story entirely, I would suggest borrowing it from the library rather than paying good money for it though. There is absolutely NOTHING likeable about Stryker or Zephyra, I wasn't at all interested in seeing these two characters get a happy ending and I honestly won't care if they end up dying in later books which is something I never expected to say about any couple in this series. If I had to describe One Silent Night in just one word it would be disappointing and I feel terrible saying that because I normally adore Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing. I guess everyone is allowed a dud at some point though and considering how many books of hers I have absolutely loved I'm not going to let this put me off continuing with the series. I just hope we don't have the misfortune of spending any more time with these two characters in the future!

Esta muy entretenido. Es un relato corto que mantiene bastante bien el ritmo y tiene mucha accion.
Mas que el romance, lo que mas me ha gustado es todo el cambio de escenarios y malvados que aparecen "de nuevas" en esta historia ya que, en mi opinion, dara un cambio al desarrollo del resto de la saga y a nuevos objetivos a derrotar. (me gustan estos cambios 😱😨, crean nuevas inquietudes a la trama 😝)

I finally read this. Well, it was at the end of 2021. I'm finally reviewing it now. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. What I mean is, I got a little burned out on the Dark-Hunter series a while ago, so I took a long break. Then about 1.5 years ago, I read Acheron, and absolutely adored it. That wasn't a surprise. I love Acheron (who is a fan of this series and doesn't love him?). But it sort of broke me out of my boredom with the series. Still, I thought I would like this one much because the lead character was the big bad of this series (not sure if he still is). Instead, I really liked this. I gave it four stars, because after Acheron, five stars is probably out of reach.
So, I won't revisit the storyline because you can read the synopsis. Instead we look into Stryker's side of the story. All along, I have been sympathetic towards the Apollites. They basically got screwed by their ancestor, the god Apollo. Doomed to a short life of 26 years, they became desperate to save their lives and those of their children. Sadly, that means taking souls. Stryker grew weary of watching his children die and decided to do what was necessary to help them live. The rest is history.
I liked that this was about more than just getting revenge on Acheron. Instead, there are layers and subplots, and folks who were enemies have to become reluctant allies to save those that they love. I was also pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the romance between Stryker and his wife Zephyra. I really don't care too much for second chance at love stories, but this one worked for me, because their estrangement wasn't about dumb misunderstandings. I also enjoyed a look into the inner workings of Stryker's camp of warriors. At times, I forgot these folks were the bad guys.
Honestly, I'm pretty tired of Nick's attitude. I hope that this changes in the next books. I understand why, but I really think he needs to grow up. There was some development in this score, fortunately.
I don't want to have spoilers, but I will just say that I was very satisfied with this book, and it made me excited to keep reading the series. I also have to admit that I look at Stryker in a slightly more sympathetic light.

Another Great Read - I absolutely love this series, the more books I read the more I learn about Acheron and his world with the gods, the paranormal creatures, and his Dark Hunters in their other worldly realms.
Stryker (Daimon)and his wife Zephyra (Daimon/Gallu Demon) romance was interesting. Zephyra tells Stryker that if he drinks from the Gallu and then kill it that he can capture his soul and then he would never have to kill a human for its soul again and he is now immortal. Once he learns this, his army goes on a rampage to catch the Gallu Demons so they can be immortal too.
Acheron and Nick Gautier learn that Nick is a Malachai Demon who's powers were held back from the time of his birth. Evidently his father was a Malachai - a demon created to serve as the balance of the universe against other eveil demons. War a Sephiril Demon is one of those other evils and Jarad is the Sephiroth Demon, the other half for the balance of the Universe.
War gets out of control and Acheron, Nick, Stryker, and the other Gods come together to capture him. The put their differences aside for one day to do this.
War is captured and Stryker and his wife now live together after 11 thousand years of separation.
Nick finally realizes that it wasn't Acherons fault that his mother was killed, that it was his fault. Savaitar comes to the rescue of Acheron and protects him and his family from War. Tory, Zephyra, and Simi come to aid the others in capturing War and I love how Simi always saves the day in the end and still wants BBQ on everything she eats.
I totally loved the story, it was full of action, excelent.

Novela corta, perteneciente a la serie Dark Hunter de la autora, y cuya trama se desarrolla en forma paralela a la parte final del libro Aquerón.
Entretenido como todos los libros de la saga. Destaca el hecho que esta vez el protagonista es el principal enemigo de Aquerón y que hacia el final deja entrever una nueva amenaza que podría darle un giro completo a la lucha entre quienes desean destruir la humanidad y los Cazadores Oscuros, permitiendo continuar la saga con nuevos ingredientes.
Entretenido como todos los libros de la saga. Destaca el hecho que esta vez el protagonista es el principal enemigo de Aquerón y que hacia el final deja entrever una nueva amenaza que podría darle un giro completo a la lucha entre quienes desean destruir la humanidad y los Cazadores Oscuros, permitiendo continuar la saga con nuevos ingredientes.

Not completely disappointed, but it’s cutting it really close!
Okay, let me begin by saying I’m a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon. I was first introduced to her Dark-Hunter series with Seize the Night, loved it, went back and got the rest of the series and have been following it ever since. Let me continue that by saying: although the story and plot was good, I was disappointed and found the book overpriced.
I paid $8.09 CND for OSN - I have an iRewards card through Chapters. I felt like I was cheated. I opened the book, saw the size of the font and though, WTH! If the font was the usual size, no way would the book be any bigger than maybe 200 pages. That is the size of a Harlequin romance, for crying out loud! A novella! Not impressed with that. Automatically it put me in a frame of mind that didn’t favour the book.
With that said, I’ll jump into it without giving too much away. Kenyon warned that this book is a bridge between the last and the next books. It most certainly is that, but I wasn’t thrilled.
Stryker is the bad guy - plain and simple. He has a happily-ever-after; while that’s not a completely good thing, it’s not a completely bad thing either. That’s not why I picked up OSN. Stryker is forced to take the souls of humans to stay alive: we already knew that. We may not be happy with it, but we understand it. But the whole ‘pitty me, Dad vowed to rape, torture and kill my pregnant wife while I watched so I better leave her to protect her’ BS was just that - a big butt-load of BS. That card shouldn’t have been played. Is it supposed to drag sympathy from the reader? Um, if Zephyra was a nicer person, perhaps, maybe. And that’s a big Maybe!
I hated Zephyra, with a capital ‘H’. The synopsis called her a shrew… oh, she’s much more than that, but unfortunately, I need to watch my language; I’ve a few names to call her, but I have kids present. I understand why she’d hate Stryker. Should he have told her the entire truth behind why he was leaving her? YES! D’uh. She turned to Artemis, who gave shelter for her and her daughter, Medea. She did what she had to do to keep her daughter and herself alive. Do I commend that? What mother wouldn’t. However, the hell she lived through shouldn’t have been enough to turn her into the cruel b*tch that she now is. Stryker doesn’t do torture, but Zephyra seems to revel in it, especially towards Jared, a Sephiroth. Jared had been offered to Zephyra to keep her from killing a gallu demon. She took custody of him and killed the demon anyway, refusing to be anyone’s slave. She has control over Jared because of a collar previously placed on him, but what I don’t get is her continual torture directed at him. She’s just plain cruel. I can understand cruelty if there’s something behind it. In Jared’s case, from her, there is none. But his traitorous act that pretty much wiped out the rest of his kind is the reason why he’s wearing the collar, that he’s supposed to be tortured for all eternity because of that act, and that act plus the thousands of years of torture has him in the frame of mind that goes along with: I just want to die. If you ask me, that hand is being overplayed. Enough already! Medea seems to be the only one of two in that bunch that has a compassionate bone in her body. I’m curious to see what becomes of her. LOL, wouldn’t it seem fitting if she becomes Nick’s heroine? I liked Davyn, even though he’s one of Stryker’s commanders. While he needs to feed on the souls of humans to stay alive, he is Anglekos: he only steals the souls of evil humans, those who deserve to die; ei: rapists, pedophiles, murderers. The lowest of the low. And strangely enough, he reminds me of my brother, Davin, who may be a big teddy bear but who’d do anything to protect his family.
So, since Stryker doesn’t care if he lives or dies now that everyone he’s ever loved is dead, he does something really stupid so that he can finally get rid of Ash and Nick. And wouldn’t you know it - that act comes back to bite him in the ass. What’s surprising is how Stryker, Ash and Nick join forces to beat back the really, really bad guy, to save the world. And yet, Stryker and Ash, even though they respect each other, are still at an impasse; Stryker’s daimons need to feed on the souls of humans to stay alive, Ash and his Dark-Hunters are protecting human kind. But there’s a curve - daimons are now feeding off gallu demons - and can now walk in daylight. That has me curious to see what’s going to happen and I’ll be continuing the series. And Nick… He is now a Malachai, a supremely powerful creature. And until my curiosity is sated, I will always want to know if Nick and Ash can get passed what happened to Cherise, Nick’s mother.
Now that we have a few glimpses of what’s to come, I can close my review by saying that I am far from satisfied. I have never, in all the DH novels, given any of them lower than a 4 star. This one’s a solid 3, and that seems somehow generous, which is very, very, unlike me.

So, since Stryker doesn’t care if he lives or dies now that everyone he’s ever loved is dead, he does something really stupid so that he can finally get rid of Ash and Nick. And wouldn’t you know it - that act comes back to bite him in the ass. What’s surprising is how Stryker, Ash and Nick join forces to beat back the really, really bad guy, to save the world. And yet, Stryker and Ash, even though they respect each other, are still at an impasse; Stryker’s daimons need to feed on the souls of humans to stay alive, Ash and his Dark-Hunters are protecting human kind. But there’s a curve - daimons are now feeding off gallu demons - and can now walk in daylight. That has me curious to see what’s going to happen and I’ll be continuing the series. And Nick… He is now a Malachai, a supremely powerful creature. And until my curiosity is sated, I will always want to know if Nick and Ash can get passed what happened to Cherise, Nick’s mother.
Now that we have a few glimpses of what’s to come, I can close my review by saying that I am far from satisfied. I have never, in all the DH novels, given any of them lower than a 4 star. This one’s a solid 3, and that seems somehow generous, which is very, very, unlike me.

เราสัมผัสได้ถึงเนื้อเรื่องที่ส่อเค้าออกทะเลมาแต่ไกล ถ้าใครไม่ได้อ่านโครนิเคิลส์ออฟนิคก่อนจะมาอ่านเล่มนี้ คงจะงงกันว่ามาลาไคคืออะไร แล้วทำไมนิคถึงได้รับพลังแบบนั้นมา เพราะในเล่มนี้มีการเอ่ยถึงความเป็นมาของนิคแค่หน่อยเดียว แต่บทบาทที่เขามีต่อเนื้อเรื่องกลับเยอะกว่านั้น
รายละเอียดมากเกินไปจริงๆแหละอย่างที่เราว่า มีการรวมมิตรตัวละครหลายตัวจนทำให้คู่หลักของเรื่องจืดจางไปเลย ถ้าเล่มนี้ไม่มีแอชกับตัวละครตัวอื่นๆในเล่มก่อนหน้ามาร่วมด้วย เราว่าเนื้อเรื่องคงต้องน่าเบื่อมากแน่ๆ

Puede que más un 3,5. La verdad es que cuando vi que el libro era de Stryker no podía darme más igual, mi reacción era algo así como un "pos ok", pero me ha gustado más de lo que esperaba, teniendo en cuenta que a Stryker no lo aguanto xD Tenemos una historia que no es instalove (que en esta saga lo "acepto" pero se agradece la diferencia) y una trama que al principio parece un poco mierdosa pero que ha acabado revelando cosas muy interesantes y con un final de querer más.

A scary twist at the end that may mean the Daimons get the upper hand on Dark Hunters.
Stryker and Zephyra.......
Stryker is a villain... this story made him no worse or better in my opinion, he still killed his son whether he regrets it or not, over something stupid... In my opinion... Hes forever on a mission against Acheron and risks everything he has for a daughter he has known all of 5 minutes, but wouldn't give his son the benefit of the doubt.... Zephyra is no better if she could love someone like this... plus she seems a little doolally...

Alot of reviewers for One Silent Night didn't think too much of this the latest Dark Hunter novel. I personally rather enjoyed it!
In OSN, Stryker, the leader of the Daimons who have been the hated enemy of the Dark Hunters from the very beginning, gets his HEA.
Long ago Stryker had a wife. But his mercurial father, the god Apollo, decided the low born Zephrya wasn't good enough for his son. In an effort to save her life, Stryker leaves her, unbeknownst to him, pregnant with his child.
Now thousands of years later, Stryker is still alone. His second wife is long gone and all of his children have either died or deserted him. He's not a very nice person for all his misery, and he's concocted a plan to rid the world of the two men who caused the death of his favored children- Acheron and Nick, Dark Hunters extraordinaire.
But in unleashing War, the scourge created by the gods to kill a race of creatures created by their own war-spilled blood, Stryker has set about circumstances that will eventually be the end of his own life as well.
Though the goddess Artemis could care less about Stryker, she still has a warm spot for Ash- the object of her twisted form of love and the father of her daughter. To stop Stryker, she sends the one person who wants him dead more than anyone-Zephyra.
Stryker is shocked to find Phyra is still alive- and even more shocked to find he has a daughter to her! Now he'll do anything to keep them in his lonely life- even join his hated enemies to defeat the hell loosed on earth by his own hand.
OSN has more than a couple strikes against it. First, it is a short novel, despite the price-(Once again they enlarged the font to stretch this story out.)- and there's a ton of information dumping as the author sets up the new arch of the Dark Hunter saga.
Second, Stryker is no noble hero. He's the leader of a gang of vamps and demons who have tormented our beloved Dark Hunters for a long time. He even killed the love of his cherished son's life because he felt betrayed by him. Not very likable.
Add to that the fact that the heroine is a shrew. She's ticked Stryker could not love her enough to stay by her side all those years ago when Apollo threatened them and she's never forgiven him for it.
Still, I lapped up this story in a few short hours.
Because, darn it all, Kenyon made it work! Stryker may've been a pretty bad guy in previous novels, but he made some choices in this book that redeemed some of his past actions, imo. In fact, Zephyra seemed more low down at times, than he!
And speaking of Phyra, I couldn't help but like her too. She believed, falsely, that the love of her life chose his father over her and when she discovered their child was going to die of the same curse that once threatened Stryker- she did what she had to do to save her life. What's not to like about a woman with that much strength?
What really made the book, however, was seeing Ash again. Sure I wasn't completely enthralled with his own story (Acheron)- but man I still love seeing him show up! And Nick Gautier, is FINALLY coming out of his whiny stage- he's also coming into some pretty impressive powers that I believe will put him in the same sphere as Ash as far as beloved DH characters go.
Still, I think it's another character who will be taking Ash's place as most anxsty. I'm sure we'll see more of this Jarad guy in the future and I'll keep reading the Dark Hunters if for no other reason then seeing where she takes him next!

Determined to end Acheron and Nick once and for all, Stryker awakens a monster from the depths of Hades only to learn the fatal truth - all creations turn on their creators. Then, just when he thought things couldn't get worse, his ex-wife arrives and she wants nothing more than to remove his head - unless he can convince her that their love is still alive and kicking.
Unfortunately, this installment in Kenyon's series is a dud. The only thing that makes it somewhat of a worthwhile read is the development in the ongoing storylines involving Acheron, Nick and Savitar as well as the introduction of Jared who is very intriguing.
Stryker and Zephyra's romance is ridiculous in the extreme. Stryker is one of the main villains of the series who has committed some pretty heinous crimes against innocents, and Zephyra, a completely new character, is downright evil. Consequently, it is impossible to care one way or the other about their relationship.
The series started out so well, but has been going down hill for a while and not even Acheron's book could redeem it. I'm willing to continue until the new story arc, however, if things don't improve, the Dark Hunters and I will be calling it quits.

I am so disappointed with this book! I don't think I've ever given a Sherrilyn Kenyon book only 2 stars! Both main characters were entirely too harsh and mean for my tastes! While I usually love some good tortured souls and a long road to fulfillment and HEA, I don't particularly like it when the women are known for their brutality and cruelty and have slaves that they beat! Jeez! I was like, ok, at some point something is going to happen to make me love both of these characters... nope. That never really happened for me.
It wasn't ALL bad though; there were some good Acheron scenes... just not enough to have made this a very happy book IMO!! Little too dark and sinister for me! Others may very well enjoy though!
I also didn't like how short it was - only about 300 pages, if that... and HUGE font! ARGH!

Este libro me encantó por el simple hecho de que ambos protagonistas eran unos malditos bastardos. Y acaso eso no es genial?
Stryker y Zephyra son el uno para el otro. Uno es más cruel y más malo que el otro. Son malvados y se la bancan.
Ninguno trata de cambiar al otro. Acá no hay un protagonista bueno intentando sacar lo bueno del otro. No, no. Este libro no es sobre protagonistas "buenos". Este libro es sobre el villano que está perdidamente enamorado de alguien así de cruel y resentida como él lo es, y de cómo ella lo ama en igual forma.
Era algo así como ellos dos contra la humanidad, y sí. Voy a admitir que los encontré tiernos y me encantó la pareja.

Muito bom. Mesmo.
É fascinante perceber o lado da história de Strykerius e o quanto sofreu (e fez sofrer) com as escolhas que teve de fazer por culpa do pai, Apolo.
Gostei especialmente dos capítulos finais, tanto por terem mais ação como pelas alianças que se fizeram.
Adorei as novas personagens, e estou muito curiosa para conhecer a história do Jared. Espero ler um livro dele.

Volví a mi vicio no lo pude evitar. I´M BACK
A pesar de que esta historia no me llamaba tanto la atención por ser de Stryker no me arrepiento de haberla leído, te muestra el otro lado de la moneda la parte de los Villanos sus motivos, sus sentimientos, es lo que me gusta de Sherrilyn Kenyon que no deja que demos todo por sentado sus personajes no son ni blancos ni negros lo villanos no son tan villanos y la víctimas no siempre son tan víctimas siempre hay una versión en cada parte que complementan una verdad.
Aunque la parte de la trama principal no me resultó tan atractiva, en cambio las tramas secundarios fueron de lo mejor, volver a ver a Ash fue increíble, descubrir otra cosa de Nick de su pasado y origen y Jared o Jaden como se llame fue muy triste ver que es un esclavo y nada más ni menos que de Zaphyra por eso no estuve tan contenta por su final feliz es una perra, en esta serie abuuundan las perras desgraciadas
Lo que más me gustó de este libro fue la batalla donde los enemigos unen fuerzas
Pd: Súper shippeo a Savita con Apollimy QUIERO UN LIBRO PARA ELLOS.
Pd2: Quiero al Nick de antes de regreso, no soporto verlo todo enojado me pone triste, además que culpa a Ash de cosas que no estaba en sus manos.

Los Dark-Hunters son una gran serie de libros, hace casi un año que no leía nada de está serie y es que el libro de Acheron me género muchas emociones conflictivas todas de la mejor clase, realmente pensé que no volvería a leer nada de esto pero aquí estoy.
En fin los protagonistas que son Stryker y Zephyra y créanme son tan malos como sus nombres difíciles de pronunciar todo el argumento de la crueldad de esos personajes es el sufrimiento y no es siquiera válido todos los personajes de esta serie sufren y no son tan desgraciados como estos dos.
Lo que salvó a este libro fueron las partes en las que aparecían nuestros héroes de libros anteriores.
En fin los protagonistas que son Stryker y Zephyra y créanme son tan malos como sus nombres difíciles de pronunciar todo el argumento de la crueldad de esos personajes es el sufrimiento y no es siquiera válido todos los personajes de esta serie sufren y no son tan desgraciados como estos dos.

Stryker, for reasons that don’t make sense to anyone, has decided he is finally going to bring down Acheron and Nick once and for all – by unleashing the very essence of War. A deity only the combined might of several pantheons – pantheons that are no longer complete – managed to defeat and imprison before.
Things do not go as planned.
Not least of which is the rise of old powers – powers older and greater than even War himself rising to make his mission difficult. And Artemis, rather annoyed with Stryker, sends her own assassin – Zephyra, the woman he wished to marry when he was 14, the woman he has spent 11,000 years missing, the woman he abandoned and a woman who most certainly wants him dead.

This book failed terribly for me. Utterly and awfully – and it did it in many ways that are almost too long to list so I shall stick to the most annoying of them.
More than anything else, there is one fact that breaks this story for me. It’s a number: 11,000 years.
See, in the Dark hunter series just about everyone is older than god – and this has only become more pronounced as the series has possessed. At this stage mere 2,000 year old people are positive children! No, it’s 10 millennia or nothing!
The problem is absolutely no-one acts like it. In fact, most of them would be pressed to act like they’ve hit their 20s. Now I know there’s some backing to this in that the series is heavily based on Greek Mythology and there are few deities more inclined to childish, petulant overreactions than the Olympians (except, maybe, the Norse) but there’s a limit. It’s a problem that has been growing through the series and it really is the straw breaks the camel’s back on this one. Nick, in his mid-20s, acts no less mature than beings that have been around for literally longer than recorded human history (and he acts like a whiny child far too often).
So we come to the two main characters Stryker and Zephyra (which has to be shortened to Phyra for no damn reason than women needing to have a cutsey pet name to denote them as love interest). When they were 14 (yes uckies, but they rely on the history of the time to justify it) they were engaged to be married, briefly. But Stryker’s daddy said no (Apollo) and to marry the woman he chose. Stryker agreed because he eternally sought daddy’s approval and abandoned the pregnant Zephyra who was hellciously pissed.
That’s the history – fine. And from that we know that a) Stryker regrets leaving Zephyra, b) Styker has daddy issues (oh boy does he) and c) Zephyra hates Styker with the fiery passion of a thousand sons. Fine, I can sign off on all of that – if they were, say, still in their 20s. But they’re no, they’re 11,000 years old. 11,000. Eleven millennia. One hundred and ten centuries.
Zephyra has maintained her vast, all consuming hatred for her ex dumping her for 11,000 years. This is beyond restraining order territory. If you found someone still bitter and seeking the death of their ex 20 years after the break up you’d consider them to be a disturbed and frightening person. Yes he dumped her. Yes he was cruel. Yes it was tragic – but it was 11,000 years ago. Move on already. I can’t dredge up the slightest sympathy for someone who has managed to cling to burning hatred and sexual tension for 11,000 years
Much the same applies to Stryker “daddy likes my sisters more than me and said mean things!” Stryker, you are 11,000 years old. 11,000 years. By all means hate Apollo for the curse he has put on his people – but to run around looking for a pseudo-parental figure, apparently the source of his angst with both Acheron and Appolymi is ludicrous. I don’t care how mean your daddy was, when you are 11,000 years old it’s time to put on your big boy trousers and look beyond parental validation.

I absolutely loved this book. I thought that maybe I might not like it because it was completely about Stryker and, while I love him, he and I have a love-hate relationship, particularly when he tries to kill my Acheron. However, I believe this might be one of the best Dark-Hunter books.
As I said, I love Stryker. I hated seeing him try to kill Ash, and almost succeeding until Savitar's intervention. I loved seeing a softer side to him, though: he can't stand torture, everlasting love, really loves and cares about his children. This book made him more..."human" to me. It made me understand him better because I got to see his side of the story and understand where he was coming from. I think this book made him sexy to me, because before I just loved him as an awesome bad guy but now I love him because he's him. His memories and flashbacks just about broke my poor heart.
At first, I didn't like Zephyra. She pissed me off, particularly when she continually tried to kill Stryker, but I actually do like her. She's an interesting woman. I was teary-eyed when Zephyra found Stryker's "memory drawer". My biggest issue with her, though, is that she owns and brutally tortures Jared.
I absolutely loved having Ash nad Tory in this book quite a bit. I loved Kat, Sin, Alexion, Danger, Urian, and Simi's cameos in the book.
I actually liked Madea quite a bit. She was funny and sarcastic. I'm interested to see how she and Urian will react to each other when they finally meet.
Nim was completely and utterly adorable, and he reminded me of Simi. I loved when Simi gave him a teddy bear to replace his pink bunny.
I love Jared and it broke my heart to see him being tortured. And I hate that he was sent to kill Ash and Nick.
Nick...ohhhh, Nick. I still love him, but like with Stryker, he and I have a love-hate relationship. I hate that he still hates Ash, and I found a perverse sense of satisfaction when Nick learned that Ash was the only one who could help train him in his Malachai powers, which he came into in this book.
I thought it was really interesting to see more of the interworkings of the Daimons. Granted, I wouldn't want a bunch more books that in depth in the Daimon world, but it was cool to learn more about them and see more from their perspective.
I got highly emotional when Ryssa, Cherise, and Tannis showed up. Well, their souls showed up. Broke my heart to see Ash, Nick, and Stryker be hurt like that.
SAVITAR! Anyone who knows me and has talked to me about this series knows how I feel about Savitar. And that would be that I love him to freaking death. He's so sarcastic and funny, smart, loyal to Ash. I totally loved Sav and Apollymi's banter when he was watching her in Kalosis.
I liked seeing Apollymi opening up to Stryker and being honest with him.
The Daimons found a way to absorb gallu demon powers. Now they can walk in the sun. Oh. Shit.
I found it completely hilarious that Acheron, Stryker, and Nick all had to suck it up and work together. I got great satisfaction out of their misery in this instance.
I absolutely love Hades. I'm glad he was in this book. He is my favorite Greek god in the whole series. He's totally badass while being totally un-badass at the same time.
As I said, I love Stryker. I hated seeing him try to kill Ash, and almost succeeding until Savitar's intervention. I loved seeing a softer side to him, though: he can't stand torture, everlasting love, really loves and cares about his children. This book made him more..."human" to me. It made me understand him better because I got to see his side of the story and understand where he was coming from.
