I don't give second chances.
Blake
I loved her once.
But not anymore.
Now I love the sound of girls screaming my name. On the field, and in my bed.
There's nothing she can say that would change the past.
But she's back. And payback is a b*tch.
Two can play at this game. Except I play to win.

Sierra
I was never supposed to come back.
But circumstances change, wounds heal, and time moves on.
Except some things never change.
Like how I feel for Blake.
Or the secret that I've been keeping from him.

I really struggled with this one. It has all the elements I like...a second chance, secret baby, athlete romance but it just fell short for me. There was no chemistry at all between the characters. Just meh for me.

I had high hopes for this book, it seemed to have all the elements in it that I would normally love: hot athlete, coming home after a long time away, rekindled romances, and even a secret baby. However, I didn't fall in love with it. I thought that the beginning of the book was pretty good, but as it continued on I started to get less and less invested.

In the beginning you see Sierra coming back to her hometown that she left so suddenly years ago. A lot of things haunt her from how she left, but a family member passed away and she had to go back home to settle everything with the estate and everything. It was nice watching her come back home and see everyone she had left behind. Of course she very quickly runs into the guy who played a big part in her running away, Blake. In the beginning I liked Blake. I thought they had some strained interactions, mostly because you could tell that they still had old feelings just hovering at the surface.

And then things took a turn for me. Sierra and Blake start rekindling things, and it's nice, I liked it, however, Blake killed it for me. As soon as things start to get going again, he basically kind of demands that Sierra leave her whole life behind and move to be with him so they can be together. Which I guess kind of is romantic, but the way he trivializes her job and how hard she has worked for her life is kind of infuriating. And he does this kind of stuff on more than one occasion. It's not romantic to me at all, it seems like a serious case of entitlement, and of course when he doesn't get his way, he like throws everything away.

I actually had a lot of respect for how Sierra handled the situation, I mean she stuck to what she wanted, but I wasn't impressed with how it all ended up. I will say that Sierra and Blake do have a sad story from the past that needs to be dealt with. They seemed to be such a cute couple in the past, and then over the course of like two hours everything just kind of exploded, Sierra left town and never looked back. I don't know if I would have handled the situation the way that she did, but she was also very young and scared so I understood where she was coming from.

Overall, this was a pretty quick read, it was okay. I didn't super love it, but I enjoyed it enough.

What a great story.

What a great story. I loved reading every word. I would have loved to read more about these characters. Maybe a follow up would be nice. Just saying.

parece que a autora sorteou vários assuntos aleatórios pra escrever e juntou todos nesse livro
no fim não escreveu sobre nada
dei 2/5 porque é bem escrito, o resto não adianta nem falar

5* for an awesome book.

Yes, a 5* for this one ! I love the story, the chemistry between Blake and Sierra is amazing. Second chance, secret baby, sports romance is my thing. If you're interested in these kind of stories, then this book is for you. With a HEA, no cliffhanger, a little drama, sizzling scenes, awesome characters; I don't have a problem recommending it to anyone. Although On the naughty notes from the author, she said " Blake is damaged beyond belief " . I disagree. His past is nothing too overwhelming or deeply damaged. I've read many books and he is far from being damaged compare to others.

I wasn't sure if how Sierra & Blake's past fit into the present because Blake had nothing deep or nice to say about Sierra. As things unfold it's obvious these two have a hot passionate past that has damaged them both. They can't stay away from each other but looking into the future it seems as impossible feat for them to be together. When Sierra expresses her concerns for the future Blake doesn't want to hear it and walks away without a glance. Sierra has to figure out what was important this time around and make it right. Some hot steamy sex scenes. Fantastic ending.

Dirty Game

Blake on his break from football at his hometown, going to hang out with his cousin Cole, fish, relax, until he see's his high school love back on town. Sierra, back in town cause her aunt passed away, left her a house, now she has to face people, decisions she made leaving town 8 years earlier. Coming face to face to her past Love, whom she still loves, and he is still angry with her, yet the fire between them, the chemistry, is still there. Can they both forgive, and move on? Beautiful, eye opening story, loved it❤️.

Quick synopsis, Blake is a bad boy football player; Sierra is the one that ran from him for unknown reasons eight years ago. They reunite but Blake can’t get over it, they have to work things out from there.

Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of plot here. I really like second chance romances and this one was very promising, but it turned out to be basically porn in written form. I started skimming through the sex scenes because they became tedious. I’d suggest this for someone looking for a hot read but if you’re looking for substance, you’re not going to find it here.

Meh. This had all the elements of a great sports romance story, but somehow it just felt flat for me. However, there wasn't a lot of chemistry between the two in the present, they just were so focused on what they used to have. I never bought them being in love at all.

Even the sex scenes also became pretty tedious after awhile. This was not a long read, but I honestly felt like it could have been even shorter since most of the problems seemed like they could have just been resolved in the first half of the story. The plot was just really thin.

Island Romance

I have read a lot of Violet Paige's book but, I think this one was my favorite. Blake & Sierra ran into each other by accident. He never knew why Sierra left 8 years ago and broke his heart but he wanted answers now. When Sierra finally tells him the reason he cannot believe it. How could someone he loved keep Sierra from him. There are lots of steamy hot scenes and really sweet ones too.
Very enjoyable. I read it in a day.

Great read

I love loved Blake and Sierra I felt really bad about what happened with Blake's dad but I also felt she could have been stronger and fought harder for her love for Blake and there relationship. Even after they reconnect she didn't put love first and put them both through more suffering.

So Emotional!

This book broke my heart. (In a good way) The pain that Sierra went through as a young woman was heartbreaking. I loved the way Blake and Sierra found their way back to each other! This is my favorite book by Violet Paige so far! A must buy!
