BODY AND SOUL is the third book in the Scarlet Plumiere Series. To avoid spoilers, read BLOOD FOR INK and BONES FOR BREAD first.
For good luck in finding a bride, Lord Forsgreen has received the dreadful African chair. Unfortunately, the ladies of the ton have been notified of his hopes to wed, and his every move is being watched. In his heart, however, he fears his father will be proven right, that the future Duke of Rochester can never trust a woman to love him honestly--not for his pretty face or royal blood. Georgetta has not the luxury to dream of marrying for true love. She has promised her hand in marriage to her second cousin, and in exchange, he will keep her past a secret from the world. But the famous Lord Forsgreen wants what he can never have, and if he discovers the secrets she keeps, she might hang before she can become any man's bride.
This series includes the tale of four noble men--Northwick, Ashmoore, Forsgreen, and Harcourt--whose loyalty to each other is unfailing, whose blades are ever at the ready, and whose women are unquestionably brave and uniquely qualified to win their hearts.
Well, Book 3 Body & Soul was just as good as the first two in the series - I highly recommend reading Book 1 Blood for Ink & Book 2 Bones for Bread before reading Book 3! I only recently came across L.L. Muir & have been binge reading her Historical Romances. Ms. Muir has never disappointed me & she lightens even dark situation with her loving characters & their humor. I am not a Time Travel reader, so those will be saved until last but I will read her Kilt Trip & Pirate Trip next & will try to wait patiently for Breath of Laughter, Harcourt's story. I highly recommend this series to all historical romance readers - there are no sex scenes in the book (if that matters to you) but there are always special, memorable & tender moments that will linger with you long after reading "The End" & it left me not wanting anything else from the wonderful cast of characters (past & present) you see in each book.
The characters are charming, funny and believable. Starts off with a dance and Stan is watching from a peak hole and he spots George. Everything escalades from the point where Stan meets George and then 3 of the four Kings decides to protect George from her cousin who wants to marry her. Her cousin is very intelligent and cunning and mean. Stan and Stan's friends come to the rescue. A must read. I enjoyed every minute of it and couldn't put the book down.
I like all of her writings. Will seek the next ghosts series as well as the next of the kings. I read them over two days time. This one had full characters with emotions. Nice story line plausible events and conversations among the group. The things I look for in a pleasant read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good plot interlaced with humor, great loyal friends, a truest dastardly villein and a heroine who finally finds her courage after years of abuse. Happy reading.
Enjoyed first three books in series . Clever twists keeps reader on edge. Where is Harcort's story, Breath of Laughter? Harcourt is always so cool and collected can't wait to read his story.
I have enjoyed this series so far. So much going on behind the scenes with the Four Kings that we aren't even aware of until the end of each book. Can't wait for Harcourt's book. ;)
These books are so good, and clean, and entertaining, that I can't stop reading. My new favorite writer. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Less a Regency romance and more Regency thriller. Not to say it isn't all about love, but it's woven with the dark side of obsession. Nero is one of the most despicable characters you could, hope not to meet. The books pageturners, and interestingly. Written a great deal from the hero's perspectives. They are well written, but. This one in particular is poorly edited with typos and the occasional word missing. One error is consistent. The use of affect when effect is meant.
I am in love with the Four Kings and this series. This book was a great addition to the series. I immediately liked Stanley in book one and was excited to read his story. I think the author did an excellent job with the heroine in this book. Georgetta was a perfect addition to the group. All of the characters are well written. I am now looking forward (anxiously awaiting) to Harcourt's book. I am curious to know what will happen to the African chair and if Everhardt will have a story.
As always with any book by L.L. Muir, truly enchanting! Every book and every series I have read always leaves me wanting more. By far my favorite author!
