…but now everything is strained.

An unexpected long-distance friendship showed Gracelyn Dewey the ease of some relationships. Very few people could get past her walls and even then, fewer had the ability to see through her anxieties. With him, she found more—but circumstances wouldn’t allow them to keep it.

In his line of work, Sawyer Meadows saw gut wrenching things. He saw broken people, wounded people, fearful people. He loved his job, yet piece by piece, was losing who he was. But there was always her. Drawn to her quiet smile, he always knew she was meant to be something special to him. A fact that became painfully evident when she found someone else to hold her.

One weekend.
One weekend is all they’re given to either fully drive them apart, or show them some distances are worth closing.

She may be my saving grace, but I plan on saving her…

Synopsis

He calms me.

An unexpected long-distance friendship showed Gracelyn Dewey the ease of some relationships. Very few people could get past her walls and even then, fewer had the ability to see through her anxieties.

With him, she finds more—but circumstances wouldn’t allow them to keep it. Instead, they find an easy friendship with one another.

Until it wasn’t easy any more.

She grounds me.

In his line of work, Sawyer Meadows sees some gut wrenching things. He sees broken people, wounded people, fearful people. He loves his job, yet is losing a piece of himself in the mix.

But there was always her. Drawn to her quiet smile, he has always known she was meant to be something special to him.

A fact that became painfully evident when she found someone else to hold her.

Somewhere along the way, we lost it.

They are given one weekend together to fix their friendship.

The days can’t go off without any hitches though. When her recent past and his career collide, they’ll have to decide—is the distance enough to keep them apart? Or are they through letting everything else dictate their happiness?

She’s my saving grace, and I plan on saving her in the process.

LOVED this story!
What a wonderful story of friends to lovers.
LOVED Sawyer's love, compassion, and loyalty.
I loved Grace's courage and strength.
She was such a beautiful character to read.

Excerpt

Grace moved in front of me, lifting our linked hands over her head and in front of her. She didn’t lean back into me but she didn’t have to. I closed that distance and pulled her close, loving when I felt her relax into me. This wasn’t a new embrace, no. We had danced this way once upon a time, and even in our years as friends, there had been a bonfire or two where she stood this close.
But it was the linked hands crossed over her middle that changed everything a fraction.
It was the fullness expanding in my chest that really drove it home.
This was right.
This was where I was supposed to be, where I should have been for the last five fucking years. She was what kept me grounded and while I had always known it, it was this moment that felt like the lightbulb moment.
I would move heaven and earth to figure out how to keep this woman.
I was done pretending that I was ok being just her friend. I wanted so much more.

An emotionally beautiful story of dealing with our fears, loving and living without fear! Grace's anxiety withheld her from doing what she wanted until she met Sawyer (Soy) and his friendship helped her to face her anxiety head on. But like life things happen and their friendship becomes strained until it becomes inexistent and Grace has to learn to keep moving and living.

Grace may not be the typical kind of girl Sawyer falls for but her uniqueness is something that draws him to her. Her quietness, beauty, shyness among many other things are reasons that he starts falling for her and before you know it, he makes sure to let her know that he wants her in his life. I loved the banter between them and the easiness of their friendship. I thought to myself how true it is when they say "opposites attract".

The more I read the more I got lost in their story and the more I found myself relating to Grace. We all deal with anxiety a different way but one thing is for sure when we have someone there with us to support us through the tough times it makes it a heck of a lot easier to deal with it. Oh and Sawyer he had me falling in love with him, though there were a couple of times I wanted to smack him but he would always redeem himself!

I simply cannot tell you how privileged I was to be able to read such a beautiful story of facing our fears head on, believing in ourselves and allowing ourselves to not be overpowered by it. This is my first book by this author but it certainly won't be my last! -Kara, 5 Beautiful Stars

I've just finished reading this book and wow it was amazing. Normally books only get 5 stars if they make me cry. Whilst this didn't, it enthralled me and I enjoyed every single line in this book.

It was a very different plot line to most contemporary romances, making it memorable and more captivating to read. Sawyer and Grace are both easy to like and very real characters with a natural and believable chemistry. All the characters are rounded and well developed, and help add extra depth to the story.

The book is well written, with a steady pace and a good mix of dialogue and description. It focuses significantly on emotions and feelings, which is another quite unique and positive element of this book. I think that is what really drew me in.

In terms of action there isn't that much (there is some but it is more towards the end of the book) but this book doesn't need it. The quality of writing and the style of writing had me hooked. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

I got an ARC of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review :) and I feel like I need to start with a little explanation :) this book is a spin-off of sorts from one of her other stories, "Interference" :) the heroine of that book and the hero of this one are siblings :) BUT worry not, even if you haven't read that one, because "Saving Grace" works perfectly well as a standalone :) although you probably will fall in love with the couple from that original story and you'll want to read their book, but again, you can start with whichever book interests you the most :) ok, now that we have this out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about the book that is the topic of this review :) although I won't share too many details, mainly because the story is a bit on the shorter side AND the majority of it takes place over a span of just a few days, so most of the details I would like to tell you would be too spoilerific :) but I will try my best ;)

Grace and Sawyer actually met about five years before those few days, that this story takes place over :) it was around the time of the wedding of his sister, the one I mentioned before :) they had a little fling at the wedding, but since they lived in totally different states, they decided they would work better as friends :) even though the majority of the book takes place over just a few days, we have quite a lot of flashbacks to certain moments from their pasts, that really help us see and understand their friendship :) and I really enjoyed those little glimpses :) even though the book is not very long, I really connected with both main characters... Grace is a lovely person fighting with her anxieties and Sawyer is a great guy discovering what truly matters to him... both of them did a really remarkable jobs hiding from themselves how much they actually care about each other, so it was really nice to see when they finally gave up and admitted that there is much more between them than just friendship... :) I really REALLY want to say more to you guys, but again... it's a pretty short book so all other details would be spoilers, and you know me and my no-spoilers-in-the-review rule ;)

Overall I really enjoyed this book :) it was written in 2 POVs, which means that we got the opportunity to glimpse inside the heads of both Grace and Sawyer, and when it's done good, it's my favourite type of writing style :) I can say about this story what I say about most of Mignon's books I read... I wish it would have been longer :) I truly enjoy the way she creates characters and connections between them and more often than not, once I finish one of her stories, I wish it would have been at least a few chapters longer... :) because I am always curious to know more about those people and I think I would enjoy her books even more if they were longer :) the best proof of that is that "Interference", the only full lenght book of hers I read, or the longest one ;) is definitely my favourite of hers so far :) besides a truly lovely main couple... and I can't even with how sweet Sawyer was towards Grace and her anxiety troubles... *sighs* we didn't have a lot of secondary characters... the main one was Sydney, his sister and the heroine of that other book I keep mentioning all the time :) but to be honest, that fact didn't bother me at all :) I loved that the focus was on them :) I can definitely recommend this story if you are looking for a contemporary romance, a shorter book with surprisingly a lot of unexpected twists along the way :) if you're in the mood for that, then definitely give this a try :)

Loved Loved Loved!!!

A classic friends to lovers story. Grace and Sawyer have always had a connection. After meeting at Grace's best friend (who happens to be Sawyer's sister) engagement party... the two hit it off from the start. After one night of passion, the two decide that they are better off as friends since Grace lives in San Diego and Sawyer is a detective in Salt Lake City.

They see each other whenever they can and are constantly emailing and texting each other. The pull is there always but the circumstance of their work always seemed in the way. And then it happened. Grace started dating someone... and Sawyer he wasn't too happy about it.

Things become stressed between the two friends... and Sawyer comes to the realization that he can't live without Grace. And so the pursuit begins. But there are a lot of hurt feelings on both sides. So they have one weekend to try and get back to where they were before.

I loved every minute of this book. Sawyer and Grace together are perfection.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

This is my first book by Mignon Mykel, and I've already added her others to my TBR list. I loved this story and the characters. I'm a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope. The author seamlessly brought the past and present together to give us glimpses into Sawyer and Grace's five years of friendship and their falling in love with one another. What I loved most about this book was the fact that they both felt that instant sense of peace when they were near each other. Sawyer settled Grace's anxiety, and Grace grounded Sawyer from the horrors he witnessed as a detective. Sawyer was such a sweet and caring man. I loved his closeness with his sister and his patience and understanding towards Grace. And I liked Grace's light-hearted attitude and loving nature when she wasn't in her head. It was clear they belonged together and that they were both fighting their feelings. I enjoyed how their story unfolded and was surprised by the author's ability to incorporate so much detail within this short story.

I am still thinking... There is something that makes me dislike this book, but I am still trying to put my finger on what it is...
Okay, figured it out - aside from the serious need for editing, it is the heroine and how everyone seems to be tiptoeing around her. Dear author, have you ever met a person with anxieties?

As always, another story I loved! Two amazing people, developed wonderfully, with a plot that was easy to follow and relate to each character. Sawyer and Grace feel like your friends! I love how Mignon always adds in little things that are going on in todays world. Makes everything seem so much more relevant and realistic. Wonderful quick read story!

Gracelyn Dewey has a problem. She and Sawyer Meadows, her best friend, have drifted apart. The once-constant stream of emails and text messages has tapered off ever since she began a relationship with Jeremy, her now ex-boyfriend. And the hundreds of miles separating Grace and Sawyer further widen the rift between them.

Sawyer loves his job as a detective with the Salt Lake City Police Department, but the long hours and tough cases have taken their toll on him. He’s weary and lonely. In an effort to recharge his batteries, he takes a long weekend trip to San Diego to visit his sister and new niece. A small piece of him hopes to see Grace during his short stay, hopefully without her new boyfriend. Sawyer’s brief encounter with Jeremy shortly after Brielle’s birth made his internal cop alarm bells ring when he saw signs of extreme possessiveness.

Sydney, Sawyer’s sister and Grace’s close friend, thinks the pair would make a great couple and meddles with their plans to force them to spend time together. Alone. Although their solo outing begins awkwardly, it serves as a potent reminder as to why they clicked in the first place so long ago. They balance each other out beautifully. Grace suffers from anxiety, and Sawyer calms her. On the flip side, Grace grounds Sawyer. With all the terrible things he sees in his line of work, she serves as a reminder with regard to the happiness and beauty that life has to offer. If it weren’t for the literal distance between them, he’d gladly entertain the thought of taking their relationship to the next level. Thanks to the night they spent together five years ago, he already knows that beneath Grace’s sweet and sometimes timid exterior lies a passionate woman.

Unable to contain their feelings for each other, they give in to their desires with shared resolve to figure out a way to temporarily bridge the distance until a permanent solution is found. But an unexpected event scatters their plans to the wind. Grace pushes Sawyer away to protect herself, much to Sawyer’s dismay. It’s up to him to either leave well enough alone or pull out all the stops to make the woman he loves see that sometimes the risks are worth the rewards.

This is my first Mignon Mykel book. It will NOT be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It’s a refreshingly realistic and honest portrayal of the intricacies of friendship and the complications that rise when it turns into a romantic relationship. I loved how Sawyer and Grace balanced each other out so well and rooted for them to cast aside their hang-ups and get together. The slow burn Ms. Mykel created was worth the wait, because once the fire between this couple raged, it burned with the intensity of an inferno. I grinned while fanning myself and turned pages in a fevered frenzy to see what would happen next. This novel also had plenty of humor and emotion in addition to heat. I highly recommend it, and can’t wait to see what this talented author produces in the future.

Good

arrived in the Nolands’ horse-drawn coach they were helped to step down by the two Tabb brothers, Lloyd and Prosser. At seventeen, Lloyd was the more handsome and suave of the pair; Prosser, at fifteen, had the gawkiness of youth. Straight away, Wallis was engaging Lloyd in conversation, apparently hanging on his every word. Prosser offered to fetch Mary a glass of cool cherryade. “Why, thank you,” she said. She was pleased not to be left on her own but unsure how to talk to boys. What were they interested in?

This one might be my favorite (sorry Prescotts and O' Gallaghers).

Mignon did an absolutely beautiful job highlighting Grace in this story. She didn't stray away from the hard stuff or downplay it. Instead she gave us a character that was real. Relatable. Someone that could be any of us.

And then? Then she gave Grace, Sawyer, because we all know it takes a REAL GOOD MAN to love us through life.

I cannot get enough of Mignon's stories. She's totally got a fan for life here.

Beautifully written. This is my first of Mignon's books I have read and won't be the last. Friendship is more than about common issues, it is about accepting the differences in each other and helping to face them. Sawyers' easy and comforting nature towards Grace's inner struggles is an endearing factor to me.

I generously received an ARC from the author & IndieSagePR in exchange for an honest review...

I was given the opportunity to read this book during the editing stages as part of Mignon Mykel's BETA team and decided to take part in this blog tour to get the word out for this extraordinary book. Since discovering this amazing author I haven't missed a chance to read her books. The first book I ever read from her was Interference (Prescott Family #1) which is Caleb and Sydney's story of how they met. I absolutely adored their story and how it unfolded, so I was super excited that Sawyer Meadows (Sydney's brother) was getting his own story with Gracelyn Dewey (a character we met in Interference).

Sawyer and Grace met a few years ago at Caleb and Sydney's wedding and quickly became fast friends after a night of passion. Although their friendship worked for a while, they both wanted something more. Unfortunately, the distance is a huge factor that keeps them from exploring more. When Sawyer comes to town to visit his sister, Grace and him become closer than ever. Will they finally make it work, or was their relationship doomed from the beginning? To find out what happens, pick up your copy of Saving Grace today!

Gracelyn Dewey has been best friends with Sawyer since she met him. They hooked up at his sister's wedding, but both decided that it would never work as more with the distance. Not many people can get past her walls, but somehow he grounds her, while making her feel safe. They haven't spoken in a while, after he insulted who she was seeing, but she misses him. Sawyer Meadows sees a lot of tragedy in his line of work, but he loves his job, although he's losing pieces of himself in the process. He's been drawn to his Grace since he first saw her shy smile, and he knows she's something special. But when she started seeing someone else, he didn't react well, and now they aren't hardly even friends anymore. But when he comes home for a weekend to visit his sister, he knows that he must make things right with Grace. Will he be able to get her to forgive him? And when her past comes back, will he be able to protect her? And finally, will they finally admit that they should be together?!

Saving Grace is a super sweet, and emotional story. It's fast paced, while full of angst. Mignon Mykel has a super talented writing style that had me devouring anything she puts out at this point, and this story is no exception. Not only does my frustration build, especially with Sawyer, but a huge twist at the end had me all kinds of jacked up, and dropping f-bombs at the top of my lungs. Grace was such a sweet soul, although I do believe that I need more about her as to really understand some of her issues (hint hint), while Sawyer was the perfect mix of irritating, and HOT! Their chemistry is palpable, which FINALLY led to HOT AS HELL sexy scene goodness that frankly, I wanted more of. Add in some very sweet love, and well placed humor, you have the perfect love story! Cannot wait to see what's next! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Gracelyn and Sawyer are a perfect couple. Sawyer knows how to ground Gracelyn and just knows what is going on. They slept together during Sawyer's sister wedding and then became friends. Due to jealousy Sawyer stopped communicating and their friendship was strained. Sawyer comes to town to see his sister and the kids and their friendship recindles. They end up realizing they love each other but then she can't handle his job. He get shot and once he is better he goes back to his home. Gracelyn surprises him and goes to his home and decides to move there.

Story was very sweet and kept you entertained. I felt at times I wanted more. This story happens in a span of the weekend. It was a book I could not put down. Strong writing. There are going to be more books in the series.

I love reading a book that has the main characters start as friends and then grow to be something more. Sawyer & Grace met through Sawyer’s sister and grew to be very close friends. Coming from personal experience, I think the best relationships are the ones that start out as just friends (my husband and I were friends for almost 12 years before we started dating). In this book you can tell how close the two main characters are, and it was sad to see that circumstances had them drifting apart, especially when you can see how clearly they need each other in their lives. I love how the author captured their relationship, the history of their messages & conversations, and how she showcased the ups and downs the couple went through.

This book appears to be a spin off from another one of Mignon Mykel’s books (Interference) but I have not read that one and I was able to follow along the story line just fine as a standalone. Though, that being said, I kind of want to go read Sydney’s story now! This book was a quick read and I was able to finish it in a day, which is good and bad; good because I love a book that I can finish in a day and reflect on, but bad because I wanted a little more. I’m not sure what ‘more’ I wanted though, that’s why I didn’t let it detract from my rating; this author wrote a great combination of love, drama and humor. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a quick read of sweet love

Here we meet Grace and Sawyer. They met a few years ago at Sawyer’s sister’s wedding, they hooked up, but since they lived states apart, they decided not to pursue a romantic relationship and stay as friends. And that kinda worked for a while, they were actually great friends, but deep down they both wanted something more.

Now here’s the chance to see what could there be for both of them.

I liked Grace most of all, she had horrible anxiety attacks, and it was so sad to watch her take a step back in life because that anxiety was debilitating. I really thought she should’ve looked for professional help to assist her, though. She was a great friend, loyal, lovely and there was a calmness about her that I liked.

Sawyer was a nice guy, but I didn’t really see him as a romantic interest for Grace. I’m not sure what it was, like I said, he was a nice guy, took care of his family and loved his job (and was damn good at it); but I just couldn’t really picture him next to Grace. She had this sort of quietness and softness about her, and I couldn’t really see Sawyer handling that.

Anyway, it was a nice read all in all, with a little bit of everything, even some action. And I loved that ending, I loved how Grace came to overcome her hang-ups and took a huge leap of faith. :-)

*Thank you to the author for providing an ARC in exchange of my honest opinion*

Sometimes all you need is the right person in life. The one that grounds you, that gives you that sense of calm, to be your anchor. Sawyer is exactly that person for sweet Grace. Grace, who sometimes is so unsure of what's going on around her but still manages to be one of the sweetest and kindest girls ever. And who has a great big heart too.

Cue having Sydney and Caleb and the kids in this again and we have one family I love!! We were first introduced to both Grace and Sawyer in Interference and I loved them. And I was super excited that they were going to have their own story. And to see Grace and Sydney's friendship blossom even after the reality show makes my heart smile!

Sawyer is a detective and let me tell you, that's one sexy job for one sexy man. But he has one of the biggest hearts and he just gets Grace. And it's exactly what Grace needs.

Friendship, love, kindness, and happiness. That's what that this book gives you and more. Happily ever after a do exist, you just have to sometimes fight a little more for one. To get to really know the person and understand the person. Sawyer and Grace do just that and more and you won't be disappointed with their story. You'll love them as much as I do!!

What a beautifully written story! This is the first novel I've read by Mignon Mykel...but it won't be my last. This is a really well thought out, well prepared novel.

The storyline meanders a bit in the beginning but you can tell early on that the relationship between Sawyer and Grace is not going to flow smoothly. These two characters are each broken in their own way; this book is literally about their search for happiness apart and with each other.

It's well worth your time! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.)

Grace suffers from anxiety and while most people don't know it, her best friend Sawyer has always been able to see right through her. He's always been the calm to her storm. Time and distance has put a strain on their relationship and Sawyer is determined to fix it. While he wants more than a friendship, Grace's anxiety leaves her questioning and wondering "what if" about so many things. The last thing she wants is for it not to work out and to loose her one person that gets her.

While their story is a slow burn, it's one that gives you time to really connect with the characters. Sawyer's sweetness and understanding makes you fall for him. He goes so slow and eases into every situation with Grace's feelings constantly in the forefront of his mind. There's a vulnerableness to Grace makes you want to hug her and support her. Together they're the perfect compliments to each other.

Favorite Quotes:
- I was going to do it, and I was going to prove that she could still find her calm in me.

Because I found my calm in her.
- Grace had wound herself so deeply into me five years ago, it didn't matter what distance we put between us-she was a part of me.
- Once I started kissing her, it was as if I couldn't stop. It was as if every missed kiss over the last five years fought to be had right in this moment.
- Sweet, quiet Grace was the woman I measured all else against. I didn't want a woman longer than a few hours because I knew there was one woman that I wanted for days, months, years.

•Long-Distance Friends
What a great story! Another great work by Mignon Mykel! Although I knew it'd be a HEA, I didn't know how it was going to play out in the end. Sawyer and Grace became friends after his baby sister Sydney's wedding. Five years ago they agreed to one night of sex with no strings. The heart didn't always agree with the mind. Grace lives in San Diego near Sydney while Sawyer lives in Salt Lake City. He visits often and they text and email. Then Grace starts to date another guy and Sawyer didn't like it, and he especially didn't like the guy! Sydney has always wanted Grace and Sawyer to be together and makes no secret of her attempts at being a matchmaker. What happens with Sawyer and Grace? You'll have to read SAVING GRACE to find out. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.

Saving Grace is a 5-star book! It has everything you need in a love story, in my opinion! We first meet Grace and Sawyer in Interference, Grace being a contestant on Caleb's cruise to find love and being Sydney's friend, and Sawyer is one of Sydney's older brothers, the one she is closest too. They are friends to lovers to best friends to lovers, they have a thick history within a 5-year spread and each has their own things to deal with! There was a part in the book that I did not see coming and it made me love the book even more! I'm so excited to see the rest of the Meadow boys get their own story as well as the Prescott's to get theirs! I'm in love with both series and both families!! Can't wait for the next release!!

This is the first book by this author and I have to say it was a beautiful tale of finding your person and that person is what centers you. Grace is such a sweet and loving person but when it comes to Sawyer, that one person who was her spark, being friends is all she could offer at the time. But when you have the two together, you can so tell they are made for each other. Their emotions and passion play off of one another. I loved the topic of the anxiety and how Sawyer grounds Grace. But she is also grounding him. She is a constant he needs in his life of craziness.
Overall, this was a beautiful story. I felt that there was just enough passion, angst and drama in it to make for a good read!

Saving Grace by Mignon Mykel is a sweet contemporary romance novel.

Meet Grace and Sawyer Meadows.
Grace owns a online boutique in San Diego and Sawyer is detective in Salt Lake City.
They are friends for 5 years and both have a secret crush on each other.
She has slight anxies and panic attacks and he wants to keep her save.

This book goes at a slow pace till there is a burglar and deadly threats.
I really liked this book. I didn´t love it but I liked it.

This is the first book that I have read by Mignon, but if this book is any indication of what future books will be like, I will most definitely be reading more. This book is full of emotion. I felt like I was right there with Grace and Sawyer. There were times where I wanted to laugh, cry, and slap some sense into some characters. There were also some twists that I did not see coming. I love stories where long time friends fall in love. I can't wait to read more from Mignon.
