Previously published in the 2-in-1 e-original Claimed by the Mate Volume 3 and in print for the first time!
In Dangerous Passions, finding a mate shouldn t be all that difficult for a sexy werewolf on the prowl. Modern women want romance and seduction, and Feral Passions Resort has served that purpose for providing both for the men of the Trinity Alps pack. Only two are still unmated alpha leader Traker Jakes and his lieutenant Evan Dark but danger stalks the women they ve chosen. Danger that threatens everyone in the pack at Feral Passions.
In Bound to the Wolf, Marena Panos is an attorney with a dark secret that follows her into the mountains and into the bed of a Phelan Sava, a lycan whose strength and shared penchant for pleasure/pain will eventually own her body and soul.
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
I don't read a lot of anthologies anymore but when this book showed up at my house unexpectedly, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience overall. This is a big book and each of the stories were fairly long. I would say that they were long novellas or even short books depending on how you look at it. Each of the stories really had a lot to them and it was nice to try out several new to me authors. I am glad that I decided to read this book.
In the first story, The Alpha's Mate, things get off to an exciting start. Fabian rescues a woman who is being thrown to her death. I had a lot of fun reading this section of the book. Fabian and Vixen were great characters that had a lot of chemistry between them. It was a pretty intense story and the writing flowed well. I would definitely read more books set in this world.
The second story, Dangerous Passions, ended up being my favorite of the group. The story revolved around two couples Evan & Darnell and Trak & Chelo. I loved this pack of werewolves and really enjoyed their sense of community. There were a lot of characters in this story but everything really worked well together. I liked that the story followed two different couples each having a different set of obstacles to tackle. I really liked the chemistry between each of the couples and liked how they worked together and communicated with each other. I would love to read more about this group of wolves.
Unfortunately, Bound to the Wolf didn't as well for me as the other two parts of the book. I thought that the story started out strong with Marena's attack. I also really liked Phelan's character when we first met him. I just really never connected with the world this story was set in. I think I would have liked the book more if it had only focused on Lycans but with the addition of Zeus and other things just became too much. I didn't completely feel the chemistry between the characters and thought that the sex became the main focus of the story.
Overall, this book was a win for me and I would recommend it to others. It was a nice way to sample some writing by a few new to me authors. I will definitely consider reading more from this group in the future.
I received review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press.
Initial Thoughts As it usually works with anthologies, I like some of the stories in this book more than others. My favorite of the group was Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas. I liked The Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais well enough but I honestly didn't care for the story written by A.C. Arthur.
Hunger is a Standalone and has three books in one. Each book in my opinion is a little longer than a novella, so I’m going to consider each book an actual full length book. Also I got a physical copy of the book and it’s MASSIVE.
All of the books are Paranormal with a wolf theme told in third POV. The easiest way to describe this book is to talk about each one. The books don’t relate to each other, so you can skip around if you want.
Book 1 – Alpha’s Mate by Eve Langlais
Alpha’s Mate is a simple and more of a shorter read. I found this one more light-hearted with a touch of a comical side. The Heroine is being hunted and someone wants to kill her. Fabian saves her and they have this kind of insta-lust connection. However, I would consider this story the tamest. It was an easy read to get your feet wet for the next books.
Book 2 – Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas
Dangerous Passions was the hardest book to read, only because I typically like simpler books and this one had A LOT of characters. So, the storyline was very detailed and it came to a point I had to write down the characters down and map them to who they were dating. I have a feeling this book might be a middle book for one of the author’s other books, but that’s just a feeling.
Here are the list of characters
Evan and Darnell Trak (Pack Leader) Chelo Meg and Zach Evan and Nellie
There are a few more I didn’t write down, but those were the ones written about the most. The book is mostly about Trak and Chelo. Chelo is a damsel because she is running away from an abusive past. And she seeks refuge at this place. I think this book will work out for those that like to read a bunch of other characters because each couple has their own problems.
Book 3 – Bound to the Wolf by A.C. Arthur
I found Bound to the Wolf the steamiest out of the three and a little kinky. Marena is about to be raped, but she fights off her attacker, not before he bites her. What will happen? Marena doesn’t know but she doesn’t stick around to find out. She meets Phelan and she soon realizes she can’t be away distance wise from Phelan or she will feel extreme amount of pain.
Out of the three books I liked this one the most. I found the storyline more to what I usually read and I liked that the steam was turned up and I liked that Marena and Phelan couldn’t be without each other physically.
Overall, I actually like books in one little package, I buy box sets ALL the time. Call me crazy but I hate clicking more than one icon. I also liked that the book is kind of extra thick. I feel like getting three books in one kind of gives you a little bit of everything.
What a great shifter combination of stories with these three authors. You get the silly and fun humor in Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais; super sweet, protective Alpha's in Dangerous Passion by Kate Douglas; and the really intense, protective Alpha in Bound to the Wolf by A.C. Arthur.
3.75 Stars for Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais
Dominant hero, dominant heroine that has clashing personalities but in a humorous way. A bit of danger since someone is trying to kill Vivienne but Fabian goes all protective Alpha on her. This one was entertaining with the over-the-top humor that almost bordered on too much. It's not one you'll take seriously, but will definitely give you a good laugh.
4 Stars for Dangerous Passion by Kate Douglas.
Normally I like the more dominant alpha's in my books but I can not complain about a man who is all about taking care of his woman. That's exactly what you get in Dangerous Passion. These shifters may be more of an omega males but they sure do know how to protect their females. This book is loaded with sugary sweetness. Plus you get two couples story in one book!
5 Stars for Bound to the Wolf.
Bound to the wolf is almost the complete opposite. Talk about intense! You can't get more dominant than Phelan. I would best describe him as dominant, broody and commanding. It takes a very strong woman to handle Phelan and he certainly met his match with Marena. I had to bring out the fan for this book. Hot! Hot! Hot!
All three books are a continuation in a series. While I think you could read them as a standalone, you will be missing some information on characters that were in previous books. ARC provided by NetGalley.
Fabian is never going to settle down or allow a woman to collar him. As the alpha wolf of his pack he’s got a reputation to uphold and it’s a lot of work being the bad guy. When he rescues Vixen from the river after she was tied up and tossed in to drown, he realizes pretty quickly that she’s his mate.
This is a fast, fun, humor filled read that has a little meat on its bones. Not my favorite by this author but still highly enjoyable.
Dangerous Passions – Kate Douglas
3 Stars
Chelo is hiding from her pack. Trak agrees to give her protection. Danelle can’t get Evan out of her mind and has returned in hopes he has thought of her as well. This is a story with two couples and their own issues. I enjoyed it but I felt like I might have enjoyed it more had I read the previous books. There was a lot of references to other couples that did not move this story along and I found myself skimming these parts. However, I did like the interactions between each of these couples. While the heroes were not alpha (not even Trak the pack alpha) they were kind and sweet and considerate of their mates.
Bound to the Wolf – A.C. Arthur
4 Stars
This was definitely my favorite of the three. Marena is on the run when Phelan finds her. He knows exactly what to do and she doesn’t have any other choice but to follow him. They both have someone in their life that’s out to do them harm and together they try to find a solution to the problem. This had a little mystery, suspense, secondary characters that helped the story, a couple that acted in a mature manner and along the way had some hot moments. Wish I had read the previous books because I think they must be pretty awesome.
3 stars I'm not discussing any part of these stories cause they're pretty small and the blurb is the most non-spoilery thing anyone can say about them really. So this review is purely what I felt. (Like all my other reviews xD)
The Alpha’s Mate by Eve Langlais 3 stars
I usually like Eve Langlais's books though they can be hit and miss at times. I liked this one, I mean it was okay to pass the time but true story, I didn't remember anything after I finished, when to sleep and woke up. Nothing. Nada. Zilch! Reading the blurb helped but that still pretty much says everything.
Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas 3 stars
This was probably the one I liked best of the three which is really something cause I totally skipped on it cause I was under the impression this was a menage, it's not. I liked both couples featured in here, Trak and Chelo more than Evan and Nell but they both were nice to read.
Bound to the Wolf by A.C. Arthur 1.5 stars
I liked this least, obviously. Which did kind of surprise me cause a friend liked it best and I thought I would too. Sorry, Carvanz :p I don't know, there was just so much going on for a book featured in an anthology, too much backstory missing. Other than that there was just too much going on too, it was hard to wrap my head around it all and while in the beginning it started out interesting, at some point the focus shifted mainly to sex and everything just went down the drain.
I really enjoyed the fact that it's 3 for 1 with this story bundle. They're all well written decent stories with likeable characters. I found the first story " The alpha's mate" with Vivienne and Fabian to be my favourite out of the 3. I enjoyed the fast paced smutty romance between the pair. As predictable as the story was I found myself sniggering away at the humour and sighing at the sweet fleeting moments. The chemistry between the pair is off the charts and the sex is pretty hot also. All of the stories are pretty far fetched in the sense of believability however I enjoyed them all the same. Like I said I enjoyed them all however being honest I can't say they will be super rememberable to me either but again you are getting 3 for the price of one so I'd definitely say it's worth you buying it even if you only like one, I didn't mind the other two but I preferred the first story.
I kindly received this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved that this continued from the last book; Catch a Tiger By the Tail. Fabian was a great alpha character and "Vixen" was an equally strong alpha female. I loved that she did not know she was or who was after her. Watching as she got used to the shifter community was intriguing. As for her identity you find that out when Ms. Langlais chooses to tell you.
Dangerous Passions By Kate Douglas
I loved that Kate Douglas created a world different than her other series and I cant wait to learn more about Feral Passions and the people involved in that world. The characters were relatable and interesting. I love that she pulled me into the story with a short novella that still felt complete and left me wanting more, more characters and more romance.
Bound to the wolf AC Arthur
This was the first book I read by AC Arthur and it wont be the last. This to me was a hidden jewel. I wasn't sure If I wanted to read it but I'm glad I did. I loved the crossover of Greek Mythology and paranormal. I'm a sucker for Greek Mythology and AC did a wonderful job of making a dangerous world for Lycans in which not only are humans a danger but also the Olympic realm. I am looking forward to learning more and reading more from A.C.
I received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Fabian Garoux, an Alpha werewolf shifter whom we met in the previous GROWL & WILD anthologies. To his notion villains weren't supposed to be heroes, alphas were supposed to have control over their inner animal. But all that went out the window when he rescued a beautiful and sassy woman from drowning.
The woman in question turned out to be his mate who was targetted by some criminals who wanted her dead. Fabian was hellbent on protecting her even though she wanted nothing from him.
Vivienne , daughter of the Lion Alpha, bad*** in the business world was kidnapped and left for dead by some dangerous people who were hired to kill her. The problem was she didn't know who wanted her dead. She was saved by the handsome Fabian Garoux who wanted to claim her as his own. Now she found herself with a wee case of amnesia and nowhere to go but with her savior.
Fabian tried to fight the mating fever but fate had other plans in store for him same could be said about Vivienne. She was a woman with many shades and they all made Fabian and his Lycan want her more. She found out his secret yet tried to deny what she saw was real.
The Alpha wouldn't let her live in denial, along with protecting her from danger, he was on a mission to woo his mate....and wooed her he did. With more attempts on her life and still no memory, Fabian and his mate took a big step. One that got them the answers they were seeking plus some unexpected ones.
It was great catching up with Gavin & Megan (LEGAL WOLF'S MATE), Brody and Lulu (CATCH A TIGER BY THE TAIL) and neeting some intriguing new ones. The broody Fabian finally got his HEA.
P. S. Looking forward to Cole getting his story.
Dangerous Passions
Alpha leader of the Trinity Alps pack Traker Jakes and his lieutenant Evan Dark were the only two men who were unmated. With only two members being without mates, they wanted to change things up at the resort. Along with the rest of the pack, they all decided to turn the resort into a wedding venue.
Darnell "Nellie" Deya, the Hollywood makeup artist whom we met in GROWL. She couldn't seem to stop thinking about Evan. So she took matters into her hands and heading back to the Feral Passions Resort but she got lost along the way.
She reached out to the resort and Evan came running to her rescue. What Nellie didn't know was that Evan was in the same boat as her. She invaded his thoughts and dreams.
Trak thought he would be the last man standing well all that changed when he met the beautiful and independent flourist, Consuela "Chelo" de los Lobos. The latter was a wolf shifter who'd been in an abusive relationship for years.
When her ex partner died she was relieved. Her happiness didn't last long cause her ex brother-in-law wanted to claim her as his. She loved herself and life too much to go anywhere with him. She met the Trinity Alps pack and was under their protection the instant she told them her tragedy story.
As Trak and Chelo were bonding, the newly couple Nellie and Evan kept on growing closer also. Nellie started to question some the things she saw while Evan held off from telling her the truth because of the danger that lurked around Chelo.
Nellie finally found out the truth and took it better than Evan had imaged. Chelo and the entire Trinity Alps pack found themselves in danger not once but twice when Chelo's past came crashing into their lives. But what the enemies didn't expect was a well prepared pack.
So happy that Trak finally apologized to Cain. Those two worked so great together. Everyone got their HEA.
Bound To The Wolf
Marena Panos was an attorney with The Arrigton Law Group, one of San Francisco's largest law firms. She was amazing at her job but working with a handsy co-worker who didn't know the meaning of boundaries wasn't easy especially when he sought his sights on her.
Turned out the co-worker wasn't even human, he was a wolf shifter who forcibly marked and turned Marena. Now the cops wanted to arrest her for the co-worker's disappearance. She ran and heading into the mountains.
Phelan Sava, a lycan shifter with a dark side never thought he would ever settle down. He was cursed by an evil BLEEP by the name of Eureka who was send by Zeus to kill him and the leader of the Trekas pack, Blaez. Despite being separated and him hating her, she wouldn't let him go.
One night after his encounter with Eureka, Phelan scented a new and scared lycan blood. He followed the scent and came to Marena's aid at the right moment. Subconsciously Phelan knew that she was important to him, he felt drawn to her in a way he never thought possible.
The change made Marena ill and only Phelan soothed the ache which left her wondering why him. It was cause she was his mate but both he and Marena were in denial. Everyone in the pack could see what they meant to each other.
They continued to grow closer. When the lycan who bit Marena came looking for her, he underestimated her and the new bonds she made with Phelan and the Trekas pack.
HUNGER was breathtakingly alluring....The stories were fascinating and steamy. Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas and A. C. Arthur did it again, they brought us a magnificent anthology filled with wonderful surprises. 5++++
This is a paranormal romance anthology which includes the following three stories: The Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais, Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas and Bound to the Wolf by A. C. Arthur.
I must state at the onset that only Kate Douglas's story was I familiar with the storyline enough to be familiar with the settings - I've read an earlier story in the Feral Passions series. That impacted my reviews of each that follow:
The Alpha's Mate 4.5 stars
Fabian, the alpha of a wolf pack, rescues a woman as she is drowning, having been kidnapped by some thugs out to harm her. She has amnesia so has no idea who she is. This is basically the story of how they discover who she is, how to keep her safe, and the fact that she is his unexpected mate.
This was a good paranormal story with humor along the way. It was great watching them move through the stages of their relationship and the big reveal at the end that was quite a surprise. A little different style (the humor) than other paranormal stories but it was fun!
Dangerous Passions
5 stars
This was my favorite of the three! I've always enjoyed ALL of Kate Douglas's books including the Feral Passions Resort stories, so I was pleased to read a new one and "catch up" with what had been happening with the men of Trinity Alps pack.
I enjoyed the dual stories involving the last two unmated men of the Trinity Alps pack, alpha leader Tracker Jakes and his lieutenant, Evan Dark. The story between Tracker and his mate, Chelo, was especially touching. She had so much in her past that she has to overcome to move forward, but Tracker was patient and kind, giving her the time she needs to recover and gain her personal confidence. He brought out the best in Chelo, and helped her see how strong she was. It was a beautiful romantic love story on its own! This is another GREAT story from Kate Douglas!
Bound to the Wolf
3 stars
This was my least favorite. I believe if I was familiar with the stories of the other main characters and their mates, a lot of the backstory would have made more sense. It kept me from identifying with the two main characters, Phelan and Marena. For some reason, other than the physiological reasons for being attracted to one another (I don't want to give the storyline away here some I'm being purposefully vague!), I didn't really feel their connection as much. Honestly? It might have been due to the fact that by having just read Dangerous Passions where Tracker and Chelo were such an awesome couple connecting both emotionally and physically, it was a little harder to "feel" the connection between Phelan and Marena when theirs was mostly physical for at least the first half of the book. Or, as I said previously, maybe just not having enough background into the setting (the threat to their alpha, the Moon Goddess, the powers each had, etc.) that the previous books would have established, made this one harder to relate to.
Overall however, if you enjoy paranormal romance especially of the wolf kind, you will enjoy this anthology!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
HUNGER is a massive book which is actually a compilation of three different novelette-sized books (between novella and full-length) all revolving around shifters. I have to admit that I could only force myself to finish one.
Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais is by far the best book of the three. It is the only one that didn't dump 20 names and several chapters of backstory in the very beginning. It's the only one that started remotely interesting at all. A woman is kidnapped and at the time her name is never mentioned. She gets knocked on the head and pushed into the river where she is saved by alpha wolf-king Fabian, but at that point she has amnesia. Though I thought it was strange, I liked that you go through almost the entire book not even knowing her name. There wasn't a single moment it was necessary. And the heroine was no damsel in distress. She kicked butt and was a good match for badboy Fabian.
Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas was one I didn't get very far into. It started the ho-hum event of a woman heading back to a special girls-only resort to see a guy she liked who worked there when she gets a flat. The second chapter mentions about nine billion names, none of which I could keep straight and we learn that the resort was built for the sole purpose of male wolf shifters having a place to basically interview potential wives. *eye-roll* Next!
Bound to the Wolf by A.C. Arthur had a lot of issues I didn't like. In the prologue (which is really a chapter one --- pet peeve #1 ✔), there's an attempted rape (pet peeve #2 ✔). The victim, Marena is bitten during the attack and shoots her attacker/co-worker. But the co-worker is missing, not dead, when she's awakened by police. This supposed lawyer decides that despite the fact that she was found unconscious and obviously attacked, there's no way she could possibly claim self-defense because the bosses all like him *eye-roll* so she goes on the run. That's chapter one. Chapter two introduces wolf-shifter Phelan who is cursed to watch an orgy and jerk off every night. O-kaaayyy.... He gives pages upon pages of boring backstory about not only shifters, but also Greek gods and furies. Then he finds Marena who is going through the change and tells her that the only way she won't be sick is if she stays very close to him for a few weeks. Then he fondles her breasts while she's unconscious. All I gathered is that this book is about rape and Zeus. Next!
Oh wait... that was the last one.
My general opinion is that the book itself is worth the price of admission for the Eve Langlais story alone. It's long enough and good enough for the $10 price tag. I would only recommend the other two if you are already reading whatever series they came from and REALLY like those worlds. Eve Langlais's five-star story loses a half star for the second book with two many characters and a bad premise, and 1.5 stars for the third book which I can only describe as "rapey".
I was surprised when I was granted NetGalley access to ARC review this excellent anthology. I enjoyed it immensely! I wanted to read Kate Pearce's story as I'm familiar with her other stories. I've never read Eve Langlais or A.C. Arthur before. I will be finding more of their stories, awesome, just awesome!
Eve Langlais' The Alpha's Mate was smart, sassy and humorous at times. Loved it! Poor "vixen" get's kidnapped and left for dead in the river. Alpha Fabian finds himself acting the hero and saving her from drowning. She has lost her memory and we spend the story trying to figure out who she is and why someone is trying to kill her. We don't get the answer to that until the end of the story but I sure enjoyed the journey. They make a terrific team, both strong to guide his pack.
Kate Douglas' Dangerous Passions is a series wrap up story, tying up loose ends and finding mates for the last two un-mated pack mates that run Feral Passions resort. They guys started the resort to find mates since they wen't meeting them in their daily life. Worked like a charm except for Alpha Tracker and his deputy Evan. Darnell Deya was at the resort earlier in the summer and couldn't get Evan out of her very erotic dreams so she takes a chance and goes back at the end of the season to see if he remembers her...Oh yeah, he did believe me! Then there's Chelo who's opened a flower shop in town trying to run away from her former mate's BFF Rube. Tracker finds himself drawn to Chelo who's obviously trying to hide from an abusive pack. This story twists with Chelo's crazy ex-pack.
A.C. Arthur's Bound to the Wolf is about associate attorney Marena Panos who's been attacked by one of her firm's partners Davis who no one knows is a were-wolf after a big firm celebration party. He bites her while trying to rape her. She manages to shoot him while trying to defend herself. She passes out and awakens to him gone, blood on the carpet and the police standing over her. While trying to recover from her attack she ends up driving off in her car to escape after being warned by her secretary that they there is a warrant out for her arrest. Phelan, a cursed and loner enforcer for his Alpha, finds her sick from the effects of the bite and realizes he can ease her sickness by being close to her...real close if you catch my drift. I was captivated by this story wondering why Marena was attacked and watching them as they come to grips with the fact she is Phelan's mate. Neither one of them are happy about that thought. It takes the 3 weeks of her transition to wolf to get used to the idea. What a glorious journey!
This is a 3 book set by 3 different authors that are not connected to each other. However they are connected to previous books that each of these author's has written. I recommend reading the books before this one so you aren't confused. I didn't realize they were connected to other books and ended up going back and buying the previous books and reading those before restarting this one so I would understand the other characters and the story lines. That being said, I really enjoyed these books. I always love Eve Langlais so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed there, but I hadn't read the other 2 others before and I was pleasantly surprised that I really liked those stories as well!
Book 1 is The Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais. I really liked Fabian in this book. He seems like he should be this high profile gangster and he is really a softie underneath everything. And then he rescues his snarky mate! I always do love snarky women and Ms. Langlais loves to throw comedy into her books on top of everything else! This anthology was worth it just for this story!
Book 2 is Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas. I had never read any books by her and I really fell in love with her writing. To the point I went and bought a bunch of her books! This one is the last book in this series of werewolf men looking for their mates. They come up with the unusual idea of opening a resort for women only in the hopes of finding them, and it works! This one is about their alpha Trak and one of his lieutenants Evan along with their mates Chelo and Nellie. I can't recommend these books enough! There was danger, laughter, and just plain love! Definitely a must have!
Book 3 is Bound to the Wolf by AC Arthur. This was another author I hadn't even heard of. But I really enjoyed this book and the ones in the previous books that tie together! This one is about Phelan and Marena. I really loved how they both had their own scars and found the answers to their life and happiness in each other. I especially love how even though they don't know much about each other they still stand for each other against all foes.
All in all, I really liked this anthology. All 3 stories were great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
If you’re in the mood for some fun, intense and definitely sexy shifter romances, then Hunger may be exactly what you seek. Should you be in the mood for fun, snarky and totally sexy then Alpha’s Mate by Eve Langlais fits that need perfectly. Looking for something a bit wild, intense, with more than one couple falling into love and most definitely sexy times then Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas is right up your alley. Do your wants fall along the more intense, compelling, sexy mates path then Bound To The Wolf by A.C. Arthur will deliver everything you desire.
The stories within the Hunger bundle do not connect with each other. However, they do connect with other stories by each individual author. Sometimes that connection is light, others it’s part of a series. I don’t feel that you “have” to have read the connecting stories to enjoy what is within Hunger – but these stories may entice you to go looking for those other stories to continue or catch up on what you found in this book. If you’ve read the earlier 3 in 1 bundles by these authors, Growl, or Wild then you’ll have an idea of what to expect.
Overall I gave Hunger a 5 star rating for several reasons. You’ll get three fun, intense, sexy stories by three amazing authors, that alone is worth a lot to me. You also will find intense stories that will make you chuckle, clench your fists or quickly flip pages to find out what happens next. Sure, there were stories that I enjoyed more than others – but as a complete book, this one is a well presented, totally enjoyable pairing of stories and authors that deliver good stories And that is worth at least 5 stars in my opinion.
I would encourage you to check out Hunger for yourself. After all, the only true opinion that matters – is yours.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Hunger by Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas and AC Arthur
Alpha’s Mate by Eve Langlais We first meet our Fabian as he is trying to save a damsel in distress. We don’t know who she is but she has been kidnapped and they are trying to kill her. We go through the whole book trying to find out who she is and why they are after her. The storyline is interesting and seeing the big bad Alpha wolf interacting with his tough mate is hilarious! I hope there’s more this series because they are really good. Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas This is the first book I’ve ready by Kate Douglas but I already have another one to read. I really enjoyed reading this book that much! There are 2 couples coming together in this book but it wasn’t confusing at all. Darnell is on her way back to Feral Passions (so this may be the last book in a series) to meet up with Evan. She doesn’t realize the men at the lodge are werewolves but she’s going to find out in a surprising way. We have their story and we also have a story involving Traker, the Alpha of the group. These stories are written where they intermingle perfectly without leaving you wondering what’s going on. It’s a really good book. Bound to the Wolf by A.C. Arthur We meet Marina as she leaves the firm’s anniversary celebration. She has gotten a room at the hotel to enjoy the weekend at the spa. But Davis, a partner at her law firm, has other plans for her. He attacks her and bites her. Then she shoots him until the gun is empty but there’s no body found when the police get there! This kind of excitement is going on in the whole book. There are all kinds of action in this book. We have good wolves and bad wolves, Greek Gods and Goddesses all showing up at one time or another. You are definitely kept on your toes to see what happens next! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from Netgalley.
Hunger has three stories in it. I really wanted to read Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais. I just finished reading Catch a Tiger By the Tail and went looking to see if Fabian had his own story. Fabian is in Catch a Tiger By the Tail but he's not a main character in that one but it did leave me wanting to know more about him.
Fabian is pack alpha and boy is he all alpha. He's a wolf shifter. He's kind of the type of guy that you don't want to mess with. I liked him. He's not really the type of person who saves people but that's exactly what he does. He saves a woman from being killed. She has no memories of who she is or why anyone would want to kill her. She's a strong character. She stands up to Fabian and even teases him. She is definitely not afraid of the big bad alpha. I loved these two together. I didn't really try to guess who she was because there isn't really any clues to go on. Because there weren't really any clue to try to guess what her really identity was and why people were trying to kill her, when they part of the plot was reveal "I was like ok" instead of completely shocked. The epilogue has me hooked and ready for Cole's story.
What can I say? I got this book as an ARC, and while I enjoyed the first story, I couldn't make it past the first chapter of the second, and barely made it three pages into the third
First story - if this was written to be a slap-stick, tongue-in-cheek, story, it is bang on. If it wasn't, then, it should have been as that would be the only way to take it
Second story - I feel like i was dropped into a room of strangers, with several story lines going on at once, and not a clue who anybody was. Maybe if I had read other books in the series, but even then, there was so much thrown at you, just a big naw. Didn't really care about anybody I had met, and the only one I kinda thought was okay, seemed a little weak to me
Third story - really? Really? You start with a big event, and then move directly to a brothel. Ugh, such poor taste, and neither of the two characters I assume are the leads, resonated with me at all
Overall, just the last two are a one star, and maybe a three for the first. I could have easily not read any of them and not felt like I was missing anything
*I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais 3.5 stars
This was a good read and the characters had great chemistry. Mystery woman definitely keeps Fabian on his toes - she's feisty and defiant but that's what draws him to her. The only reason I gave this book 3.5 stars is because I got annoyed with their inner monologues - I don't think I've rolled my eyes so much whilst reading a book.
Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas 5 stars
A new shifter is in town and she needs the packs protection. She needs to meet the alpha, to seek his approval to join the pack and to tell him about her past. When she sees Traker, he's not what she expected; he's caring, loved by his pack and highly respected - why would he want her, she's bringing trouble his way - should she run or fight?
Darnell hasn't stopped thinking about Evan since she left. She wants him and is determined to make her feelings known except, there's a tiny teeny problem; she's lost in the forest and her car has a flat. Will he want her? Is he already taken?
Absolutely loved Traker and Chelo's story: it was sweet yet beautiful. My heart broke for Chelo; her past is full of awful yet traumatic memories. Traker was so sweet, he may be alpha, but he was patient, considerate and respected Chelo.
Darnell and Evan were cute together. I liked Darnell; she knew what she wanted and went after it. It was so sweet when Evan visits Darnell in wolf form - could these wolves get any more cuter?
Great read with lots of action and I liked the fact that each member has finally found their true mate.
Bound by the wolf - A.C Arthur. 5 stars
Marena is scared, frightened and on the run. She shot Davis because he was trying to rape her, but she lost consciousness and when she woke, his body wasn't there. She's driving but she feels so sick that she pulls over into a B&B. She's in the bathroom, when she hears footsteps - probably her mind playing tricks - but when she comes out, someone approaches her from behind. Who the hell is he? Will he hurt her?
Phelan is on his way home when a scent draws his attention to an SUV. He follows the scent to a B&B room - why is he drawn to this stranger?
Why does Marena's pain disappear when Phelan's close to her? Why does his presence feel so comforting? Why is she drawn to him?
Great story, one that definitely got my heart pounding. From the moment they meet, the sexual tension is thick and it only intensified as the story progressed. These two had amazing chemistry, and when Phelan puts on a porn video, things definitely got hot and steamy. She wants her life back, by clearing her name: he doesn't do girlfriends but fate brings them together because their fated to be so much more - the challenge is getting them to realise and accept their beautiful bond.
This is the 3rd book of the Anthology of Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas, and A.C. Arthur. I am really happy that I was able to read these books.
~The Alpha’s Mate~ I was actually shocked when I read the last part of Catch a Tiger by the Tail, and Fabian got his very own HEA. I kinda liked him on Legal Wolf's Mate, when he was introduced...I was secretly hoping that he would have his own book. Somehow, beneath all of those gruffness there is some sort of sweetness. ..alas, there wasn't...
A lot of arrogance...but heck! I like it on him. I really do not know how to describe Fabian. However, his personality has a certain effect on you.
The woman? I can say "wow". She is one heck of an alpha female. Her personality matched Fabian perfectly! It like one of those shirts that is really meant for you.
At the end of the book, you might wonder...will there be a book four? Let us see.
For the rest of the two books in this series, just follow this link.
I enjoy this anthology. If there is another book, I look forward for it.
Eve Langlais once again writes a great tongue in cheek story that had me chuckling whilst reading. I was so happy to have Fabians story and it did not disappoint. Fabian was just as I expected him to be but Vixen was more than a match for our egotistical alpha. Vixen may not know who she is but she holds her own against Fabian. Finding out about Vixen and WHO she was, was so well done, total surprise. Brilliant.
Kate Douglas once again gave me a wonderful read and finished off the series by introduced the last two women needed to round off this pack of stunning wolf shifters of the Feral Passions Resort. Our hot Alpha Traker gets the woman made for him in the form of Chelo who has suffered what no person should suffer ever. Evan gets pursued by the woman he has pined for when Darnell comes back to claim what she believes is hers. Loved it.
To be quite truthful, I only read The Alpha’s Mate by Eve Langlais and called it quits a long time ago...the book has just been gathering dust on my currently reading shelf.
So Fabian rescues this chic who's being followed by shifters out to kill her. Unfortunately, or rather in true book trope, she bumped her head and lost her memory, cannot remember who she is but she can remember her muscle memory such as when she's kicking ass.
I think, what I do remember of the book, some of the dialogue was exhausting and it seemed like it was alternating between two different styles, like modern then old timey (somehow) descriptive writing that just made me bonkers.
The other two books unfortunately, I did not have the patience to read through after I was done with this one.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book consists of 3 novellas: the authors being Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas and AC Arthur.
The stories were all good, written well and the characters well developed and I felt I knew them pretty good. Plus it's the paranormal romance lovers favorite combo, a sexy alpha and a sassy woman!
The first 2 stories were pretty traditional, but good!, as far as paranormal goes but the 3rd put a little spin on where the shifter originally came from and introduced some Greek Mythology/ Greek Mythology has a tendency to confuse me but it doesn't take away from the story.
I would recommend this book as the stories were good.
**Trigger warnings necessary for 2 of the installments, spoilers for 3rd story**
Alpha's Mate by Eve Langlais: 4 stars: Standard fare for Eve. A fun romp with a bit of a whodunit plot. A light easy read.
Dangerous Passions by Kate Douglas: 5 stars: This continues the Feral Passions storyline that I LOVE. A bit of a trigger warning is needed as there's a new female wolf in the area that has a pretty horrendous past, but it's handled well.
Bound to the Wolf by AC Arthur: 1 star: I'm not finishing. 2 attempted violations in the span of 4 chapters is more than I want to read. Granted the first one was pretty brutal and sets the storyline, but the 2nd "oh she's so hot, I must touch her while she sleeps" is bullshit.

Hunger was three books of unadulterated perusing delight. Every story brought something other than what's expected. For example, The Alpa's Mate was diverting. Eve Langlais enlivened these two characters that the association between them was valid and didn't appear to be constrained. The story was impeccable, and the consummation was epic. While alternate stories have activities that will have you excited until the very end. Along these lines, I will prescribe this title to in any reader who's into hot shifter romance.
I have been waiting a long time for this book and it didn't disappoint. Eve Langlais rocks your world with her story of Fabian a strong alpha who was not looking for a mate and yet ends up with the one person he never thought... his Vixen. Kate Douglas takes you back to Feral Passions for her last two unmated males and even I was worried for Trak however he finds the perfect for himself. And AC Arthur just continues to rock your world
Oh my goodness. I got this in my 'A Novel Idea' book subscription. It's a cool service--you should check them out. While the other books have been fine, this one was just the worst. I can't get this time back. I only read the first of the three parts and I think I've got a migraine from rolling my eyes. I've only read like, 3 romance novels in my life. Are they all like this? Just a bunch of sociopath alpha males with like rapey one-liners in lieu of actual human manners?
Good anthology but a bit disappointing that some of the stories were previously released. For the price, I would have preferred all brand new stories. The stories are good but I had read them before. Good for paranormal fans and the stories are def four star reads.
