A situation in a bar on the first day of our group vacation ended up with me kissing and obscenely groping one of my best friends in a bathroom. Shane. One of my best friends for the past fifteen years. We knew each other inside and out. I figured it would be like kissing my brother. SO not like kissing my brother. That passionate, raw feeling made me rethink every life decision that did not end up with me naked beneath him. The missed opportunities were endless. We had traveled together for years. Talked in great detail about our relationships, sex lives and masturbation habits. But, the chemistry was undeniable. We weren’t just a spark but a stick of dynamite ready to explode. Those thoughts are what lead us to make a joint decision to let the next two weeks play out as though we were a couple. I just haven't decided what the best case scenario is. Us realizing that we were delusional and easily fall back into an extraordinary friendship? Or, having this turn into the best relationship that either of us had ever had and risk it changing our whole groups dynamic forever? Did I mention that we live six hours apart in different states? Yeah, I know. I was totally screwed.
Firstly, congratulations to Rae Dakota on her debut novel, In Focus, book one in her Blurred Fate Series.
When the story starts, and all the many different players were introduced, I worried that there were going to be too many people to keep track of, but I kept reading. I recognised that the author was merely setting up who they all here in the first chapter so that as the series develops we have a foundation on who's who, but it does take most of the first chapter. Still, I keep reading.
Then once the premise was set, THE moment happens (no spoilers here!) and a few chapters have flown by, and I suddenly realised that I was totally invested and just let the simple beauty of the story wash over me and take me into their world.
Shane and Audrey's unfolding story - a long-time friends to sudden lovers tale - was captivating in its simplicity (no cheating, no drama, no angst, no theatrics) and you couldn't help but fall a little more in love with them with each chapter.
The chemistry is off the charts and their inability to keep their hands off each other while testing the new development to their relationship, was steamy, sexy, funny and sweet.
The supporting characters in the book are all likeable, interesting and intriguing, and while they play their parts in this book really well - I'm now dying to read more about them as their own stories unfold over the series.
Personally, Im hoping Declan's story is next. Hubba-Hubba!
This book is full of romance! I was enticed by every single word in front of me! It took me only two hours to read this book entirely! It was an amazing page turner! I couldn't put it down!❤️❤️100/10
