Angie is a survivor. Anything you could throw at her, she could overcome.
After her father left her like a pile of unwanted trash, she began fighting. Fighting to build a life. Fighting to keep her child. Fighting to matter. She thought she had it all figured out.
Then Bowen Race Tannenbaum walks into her life, turning it into a flurry of confusion, hope, and then ultimately despair. He tore down, brick-by-brick, her carefully constructed world, leaving her heart in tatters and longing for more. Such as a happily ever after, something that wasn’t ever going to happen for her. Not when she couldn’t give him what he wanted. He’d break her, and she couldn’t be put back together a second time.
Bowe wasn’t always so jaded, but when you keep drawing a losing hand, it tends to affect a man. He didn’t mean to lash out so carelessly. But he was so over being told no. He was done being lied to. He through with being cheated on.
This time, his heart was getting what it wanted. If Angie wasn’t able to see what he was offering, what was right here in front of her, well then, he’d just have to damn well show her.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
Seriously!!! This series keeps getting better and better, so much so that it remains one of my all time favorites, and my absolute fav from Lani Lynn Vale.
Bowe we have met long ago at the beginning of the series and he has been a standing feature all throughout it, making small cameos where it’s been pointed out more than once by the previous heroines what a delicious catch he is with his smoking hot looks and his irresistible deep voice.
Angie we meet on the previous book, Controlled Burn, were she played the mysterious not-so-effective assistant to July on her renovation business. Her hinted personality there couldn’t have been more different than the one that is revealed to us in this book, and I was beyond pleasant surprise. She is a fighter in every way Bowe came across her there, and was forever captivated. From that moment on he pursued her relentless, since something told she was the one for him. She made him feel things he needs felt before, and he wasn’t ashamed to acknowledge them.
“It…you make me…I swear I feel things when I’m around you that are completely irrational. A paramedic should be able to put those feelings on hold, but I can’t. Something about you makes my heart beat faster.”
The problem was that Angie’s life was a complicated one. Besides an huge abandonment issue cause by her father, her personal past love was the thing nightmares were made of, and to top it of, impossible to shut down forever. So, it’s no wander that when Bowe showed interest she ran for the hills, and rejected every single one of his advances for months.
Bowe was NEARLY the perfect hero, and his sensible side and his lovable nature coupled with that sexy as hell package made it so, but I so wanted he hadn’t been detained by Angie’s pushing away – yes, she did it for far too much and too long, no doubt – and hadn’t giving up on pursuing her, and then the revelation and scene at 5%!!!! I wanted to scream!!! Really, If that scene/part wasn’t there I would have given the book the five stars it deserved, but that one page was enough for him to let me down ( smh at you Lani, you meanie! ) and take him some points down from the perfect man and best book boyfriend he could have conquered, because really he was up there with Tai, from Shock Advised – my LLV best book boyfriend and male main character perfection – , for all the rest of the book he was absolutely swoon worthy! If I could just let that one scene go… I really, really wish it wasn’t there. :(
Anyway, don’t let me in any way spoil your Bowe high, because believe that piece of hot deliciousness is going to make you sigh and swoon! He’s just THAT good!!! So much so that Angie tried with all her might resist, but really even she knew she couldn’t resist THAT forever!!! LOL
“If we do this,” I said, pressing a kiss to her lips. “I’m not leaving. I’m staying. Forever. You literally won’t be able to get rid of me. I’ll move in here permanently. Let my lease go. Set up shop. Seriously…I’m yours.”
Oh, and did I forget to mention his scorchingly HOT bedroom skills???!!! Honestly, be prepared because Lani come up with all the guns for this man! Bowe should probably come with a warning! It really is the quiet ones we need to look out for! WOW *cue fanning myself*
The man had fucking superpowers or something. He’d gone from timid rabbit to voracious bear in three seconds flat, and I couldn’t find one single complaint about it.
“They’re freakin’ beautiful, because they are a part of you.” He stared into my eyes. “The story behind them is ugly, but that’s a part of life. You have to sometimes go through ugly to get beautiful.”
Not only that, but his hidden sensibility and bit of fragility made him impossible not to love as Angie soon found out, but it was seeing him with her baby girl Elise, to whom he instantly gave a part of his heart, that really sealed the deal. How could she not? Big sexy men with babies, who can resist them?! Specially one so in touch with his feelings and emotions!
“I fucking love you. Every once in a while, I’m going to screw up. I’m going to piss you off and make you cry. I don’t mean to. I don’t want you to cry. But I will, because I’m a fucking human being. I’m not a machine. I have feelings.
Put Out really was a fantastic and unforgettable story, and Angie, Bowe and Elise made go through all the feels! Of course we also had the usual deliciously thrilling and enticing Lani Lynn Vale moments, filled with suspense, romance, humor and plenty of steam! It gets you hooked from the start and keeps you begging for more! Yes, as you know I’m that greedy and can’t wait to see what comes next – yes, I’m looking at you Fatbaby, come to mama!!!
“Jesus, Bowe,” I gasped, my hands going up under his arms to clutch his strong shoulders. “What are you doing to me?” He pulled back and looked me dead in the eyes, the only light shining was the full moon from outside. But it was enough. It was enough to see everything in his eyes all at once. “Loving you, Ang. Loving you.”
I love you. I love you. I love you. I can’t say it enough that I love you. I love you more and more every day. I miss you when you’re not there. I miss you when you’re in the other freakin’ room.

H is dating OW at the start and was about to masturbate to thoughts of her after a Skype call (ends up hearing her cheating on him before he gets started.) He had already met the h and was interested in her and said yes to dating OW to try to make h jealous and move on. No, thanks.
--------------- I don't even know what to say. The beginning of reading promised a lot, but as the last books of the author were many loose ends. The motivation of the villains and what happened to them. I think everything is very up in the air. Missed something, but I can't really pinpoint what it is. And the hero communicating with his ex. I didn't like it. Heroin is also not very charismatic. I understand and sympathize with what she's faced in life, but she never captivated me. I finished reading without the good feeling of the first books of the author. But she's still one of my favorites and I will continue supporting her work.
She writes at such a simpleton level, I can't do it. I find her sentence structure and grammar so problematic, I forget to pay attention to the story.
I'm not an English language wonk. I think I'm pretty accepting -- in my experience, more than most. However, I read to relax and when I find myself having to piece a sentence and/or a paragraph together to make sense of it ... just too much work. Not worth my time and certainly not enjoyable.
This is my third attempt with this author. She is completely off my list. She doesn't seem to be trying to improve anything.
I can’t put my finger on exactly why Lani Lynn Vale’s books are my “crack” but I can tell you multiple reasons why she is an auto buy and a read the book as soon as I get my hands on it author. Her books always have strong, sexy, caring alpha males, sassy, imperfect, strong, caring females, strong emotions, smoking hot sex, angst but not too much, great secondary characters, appearances from past characters, no cheating, hilarious interactions between characters, beautiful HEAs and great epilogues. I honestly cannot put a LLV book down once I start it.
Put Out is another great example of Lani’s talent for great books. Bowe is an EMT, he is strong, sweet and unlucky in love. Angie is a woman with a sad history trying to make it on her own. When it comes to relationships neither have had it easy, but when these two are near each other their chemistry is combustible and sparks fly. Bowe is patient with Angie, but he lets her know when he feels she is ready he is taking her, no ifs, ands or buts. Along the way to their HEA they have to deal with Angie’s crazy, crazy, crazy ex-boyfriend and a few other issues that are handled satisfyingly. While some of the scenarios in LLV’s books may make you stretch your imagination a little, it’s well worth it and a perfect way to ignore the real world for a few hours.
Put Out is a fast paced, sexy, funny, and emotional book! It’s one of Lani’s best yet, and that’s saying a lot considering her impressive back list of great books!
I urge you to try Put Out by Lani Lynn Vale, once you read it you will run to purchase her back list!
I wish I didn't have to do this because I love most of LLV's books but this one was a total dud. I won't use any spoilers because I still love this author's other work but I am very disappointed in this book. I'm shocked that it got such high ratings. Even if I wanted to use spoilers, it would take me too long to discuss all the issues with this book. Needless to say, the h was an idiot and on top of that, the book was so over the top with drama that it go completely unrealistic. It got to the point that I was LOL at how stupid the drama was. I say enter at your own risk with this one. Why no voting buttons? We don't let customers vote on their own reviews, so the voting buttons appear only when you look at reviews submitted by others.
Enjoyable fast read. A strong romance is paired rather a rather weak conflict. I love the characters and their dialogue. So much humor and smexy times. My one wish is for Vale to either commit to the subplots or just leave them out. She often has multiple going in the story and gives just enough to infer they have a specific purpose to the story. Then they either fade to nothing or are resolved with no real intent.
Put Out is the fifth and final installment in Lani Lynn Vale’s Kilgore Fire series. I have loved every single book in this entire series, but I think this one was my favorite. Writing about every day, real-life heroes is something Vale does exceptionally well. Mingling her outrageous sense of humor with a whole lot of heat, she never fails to turn out a special romance.
Bowe was such a great guy, the total package, and I’ve been anxiously waiting for his story. All he wanted was what his friends all had: a woman and the life they shared together. It’s just that he was looking in all the wrong places considering how he kept getting shot down. He doggedly pursued Angie, hoping for a chance or a sign, and her constant rejection and dismissals were wearing on him.
Angie is very distrustful of men, having learned at an early age from her father how easily women—even daughters—can be left behind. The way her father just walked away from her mother, sister and Angie was unspeakably horrible. Vale channeled real-life emotion into this part of the plot, and I felt the pain of a forgotten, left-behind daughter in Angie. Despite her trust issues, Angie can’t help the feelings she has for Bowe, but she sure as heck hides them. The truth is that she’s scared, and with good reason, too. Her psychotic ex taught her the remaining bad relationship lessons that her father missed. Lani always nails the writing of snarky, sassy heroines, and Angie is all of that.
There is a suspenseful side plot going on here, as well. It was exciting and interesting, and I slipped into devour mode as it began to unfold, consuming this story anxiously to see what would happen next. Her unique sense of humor is on full display in this story, and it’s something that I genuinely look forward to whenever I crack open one of her books.
Put Out was a fantastic ending to the Kilgore Fire series. Full of heat, heart and humor, Put Out by Lani Lynn Vale gets 5 smooches from me!
Put Out by Lani Lynn Vale was a book that I could not put down! I was starting to get into another book funk and decided to read Put Out because I had a feeling that this would be one book that I knew going in that I would absolutely love and that is exactly what happened. I honestly think this is my favorite book by Ms. Vale yet!
Bowe and Angie will not only have your emotions all over the place but they will become a part of your heart as well. Bowe *sigh* I want a Bowe of my own. Sorry hubby I will replace you with Bowe if I ever get the chance. Angie and Bowe are explosive with their chemistry. The back and forth banter I loved and was laughing so hard I was crying more than once. Seriously more than once you will also be saying awwwww.
Like all of Ms. Vale’s books there is drama, suspense, action, alpha males and sassy females. Put Out does not lack in any department and is one that I not only will be reading again very soon, but one that I highly recommend as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A romance as I like them with all the ingredients that I love : - a single mother heroine who has experienced great hardships - a super cute and darling hero who is looking for love (and who is a sexy firefighter =)) - a plot full of drama with an evil ex BUT SO EVIL (amazing the guy who gets away with EVERYTHING !!) - a horrible family (except for her brother, mother and sister who were great <3) but so awful that we love to hate !
Only one regret : Angie's reaction after the tornado (it disappointed me SO MUCH!! GIRL THIS GUY IS PERFECT WHAT ARE YOU DOING ??)
In short, a romance strong in emotion and in twists and turns that I devoured far too quickly =) To sum up, a series that is not my favorite by this author (I didn't like the characters as much ...) but still fun to read !
another fantastic read from this author. probably the only author I don't think twice about purchasing or pre-ordering.
her stories are fantastic with a great balance of happiness, Angst, sexiness and great humour. her character are always lovable even when they are being turds. and the storyline flows seamlessly throughout. I'm never bored. I'm always surprised and all round I love this author so it doesn't take much for me love any one of her books.
I loved this one just like all the rest. Ill continue to love them until she stops writting.(please don't stop!!)
bring on the next... I'm not so patiently awaiting for fatbaby which is of course pre ordered.
One aspect of Lani Lynn Vale’s stories that I love is her portrayal of realistically flawed heroes and heroines. Her characters struggle with issues that readers can empathize with and connect to in a way that helps them see they’re not only in the shitty things that can happen in life. And, regardless of how frustrated we get with how her characters behave and the stupid decisions they make, we can’t help but understand the reasons behind those actions…the reasons behind the walls and attitudes they’ve taken due to a litany of broken promises and heartbreak.
Angie Soco completely exasperated me at times because of her unwillingness to truly see who Bowe is and allow herself to take a chance with him even if it doesn’t work out. But as much as I wanted to knock some sense into her, her hesitancy is justified because the males in her past and current life, with the exception of her brother, have made her feel time and time again that she’s not good enough…that she’s not worth their time or their full commitment and those negative ideas have messed with her psyche and forced her to not put herself in the position to be taken for granted again.
Bowe Tannenbaum’s doesn’t have much luck in love either; it seems every woman he pursues turns out to be everything but what he wants and needs in a partner, and he also can’t help compare those women to the one he truly wants – Angie.
If there’s one thing that’s made clear throughout Put Out, it’s that Bowe is one hell of a persistent guy, and when he wants something…when he truly believes that what he could have with someone is worth all of the frustrations and roadblocks he encounters, there’s no stopping him from claiming what he wants, and Angie soon realizes that Bowe wants her for her and would willingly do anything to protect and love her as well as those who matter to her.
Lani Lynn Vale consistently writes intriguing and complex books about characters who have everyday struggles just like everyone else and then she crafts those stories in a way that not only appeals to readers but also resonates with them due to the trials that Vale’s characters face. Then, when she adds a bit of drama and suspense as well as some steamy scenes to illustrate the hero and heroine’s feelings for each other, readers can’t help but get pulled into the story and anxiously anticipate the complications that will arise and the steps the main characters will take to ensure their happily ever after.
Can Lani Lynn Vale write a bad book, I don't think so. Put Out is not only a book with a scorching hot cover but a book with a fantastic and gripping storyline. This is Bowe's story and his determination to get the girl he wants but unfortunately the girl he wants is very distrustful of men and rightfully so. Angie has had bad experiences with men including her own father. There is suspense and drama that follow the couple to add even more depth and intrigue. However Bowe is the whole package so you will be cheering for him from the first moment as he grips hold of your heart and also makes you drool.
Oh goodness this book was a hot mess. I have to say as much as I love Mrs. Vale's books and with how often she releases her books. I think every third or fourth book that comes out, ends up not working for me. I'm not saying that it was this way for this one. And even though this book was a hot mess it ended up working really for this book.
Oh Bowe, or Bowen, what can I say about him? Well he's not very lucky at relationships. He's as sweet as can be. And he wears his heart on his sleeve. And even though Angie won't give him the time of day he's determined to make her his.
Oh goodness Angie, well she was just a hot mess. She's a single mom who's struggled to make her way since childhood when her father left their family. Plus she's got a crazy baby daddy. Angie's a strong and independent person, who's very protective of herself.
Look was this book a hot mess? Yeah, to me at some parts it was. Did I enjoy it? Yeah, I did. And as I said above even though I felt parts of this book was a hot mess it worked well for this book. I also felt like there was other parts that just didn't work for this book. Or rather that there were two different story lines and they kind of clashed against each other.
I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!!
***I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion***
Angie was raised with a loving mother, sister, and brother but the one person she thought she could count on, her father, destroyed her faith in men. When she got pregnant by her idiot ex, she knew she wouldn't be putting herself out there again.
Bowen Tannenbaum sees something special in Angie and he wants to explore with her, problem is everytime he asks her out she refuses. When Bowe comes to her rescues she finds herself taking care of him and all that attraction that is sizzling between them is about to ignite. Can Angie trust Bowe with her heart or will he break it like the other men in her life?
Another great read from Lani Lynn Vale. Bowe is so patient with Angie, who is a spitfire when her temper flares. Had a couple shockers that I was not prepared for. Just can't get enough of this series.
Great way to end the series, I think Bowe is by far my favorite hero of the series... total book boyfriend material! Angie was fine but she could be a bit stubborn at times and I really hate stubborn h’s. So sad to see this series end but it’s definitely one I will go back to and read again.
This was just... ridiculous. There was sooooo much thrown in there, I could barely find the kitchen sink. Bowe was like a piece of unfinished clay that had already been fired. Angie... garggh. Can't even...
Really didn't get the whole 'other family' thing with the dad... what was going on there? Made no sense to me. Did like that she said 'no' in the end tho.
Yeah, so what did I think? I think that my relationship with LLV continues to be as conflicted as it was before. It is like a very bad habit that I keep trying to break... but every now and then... it is worth it, trouble is you don't know it until you're done. Sometimes you feel like you're waiting for a plot to begin, sometimes for some attachment or understanding of the characters and their motivations, sometimes for some fraking common sense to kick in.
29/08/20 Yep - re-read this without checking my previous comments... all of the above still applies. What was the whole deal with Bitsy & her entourage? The dad was obviously severely lacking in something... least of all brains & common decency. What happened to Jade? Was she really that dense? Was there any fall-out from all of Troy's machinations? Surely there should've been? All of the other people who enabled him to get away with his crimes?
25/03/22 Well, I guess that reading all of that Cee Bowerman that I just have made me rethink LLV. This wasn't nearly as awful as I had remembered it. I still think that there was way too much chucked in there. I still think that Bowe was a bit of a Mary-Sue. Angie... mmm... well, I don't really think we got to know her at all. This read almost too fast for the content that was available. I would've still liked to have known what happened with Jade... and Elise's half- sister. She might've been OK. And I am still so glad that Angie didn't allow her... 'father' any recourse. Men like that do not deserve it... probably hits too close to home for me... but, I wouldn't have allowed him into my life either. He had no right at all. Up from a 1 to a 2! An OK read for me!
12/02/24 It seems that this has grown a little more on me. I think it is partially cos I am really going through a LLV re-read/listen rampage at the moment. I would still like there to be more resolution with all of the unanswered plot-points. And also... more of Angie's Mum, sister and brother. I know Alec was married with kids... but what about Arial? Wonder what her journey was? And the mum - not sure if we ever got her name... I wonder about her too. And who was the woman married to the boxer who had a kid at the same day-centre? From 2 to 3 stars!
Put Out Kilgore Fire Lani Lynn Vale 5 stars fir the final installment
So yes the final installment of our fire guys But as you know they show up often in various books. The men of Lani cross over and if we are lucky from several series ...
Bowe and Angie ... First of all let's just say the Lanisms as I call them are off the charts on this release. These are the little snippets of goodness we get quoted prior to get chapter. Love them ... it's like the boom to the book.
Second let's talk Bowen. This man can't exist. This man fought fir a women he wanted and never gave up. He fought hard too. Are you kidding me? Seriously where is he? That's right ... with Angie! Gah! I don't need to tell you how Lani writes her male characters .. they are amazing leaving us star struck and breathless. Bowe is no different.
Angie has been ousted by every man in her life .. her father included she doesn't think a happy ending is in her cards. Bowe has lost his mind if he thinks she is good enough for him and also thinking that he won't ever disappoint her ... yeah right.
This is s really great don't accept failure to grab your happiness story. I loved seeing our old friends and loved finding more out about Bowe. You all know it's a keeper so click it up. You deserve some Bowen. PS don't you just want to top that hat back and see what's underneath? Great cover!
Thank you for the ARC! Sorry to see this end but these men will not be forgotten! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
* Unpopular Opinion Alert * Upon reading the dedication I was curious as to how this story would play out. I have to admit I'm disappointed. The dedication was so full of fire, passion and determination it was almost palpable and I wanted to see that damaged father/daughter relationship explored in the book. What I got was a sprinkling of a sentence here or a small paragraph there, but nothing that made sense. Clearly the dedication was heartfelt and personal and I'm not looking to pick it apart, I just would have liked it to have more of a focus than the crazy ex. And speaking of the crazy ex......that whole thing was just proof that anything can happen in Romancelandia. I'm not a reader with stringent rules; I like books with realistic characters and storylines, rom com's, dark reads and even ones full of whimsy that require me to stretch my imagination and suspend belief. This one, however, bypassed whimsical and went straight to absurd and contrived.
LLV has always been an auto buy me but it seems like lately her characters and plotlines are becoming formulaic. Bowe was an alright hero but there was nothing that really made him memorable. On the other hand, I wasn't a fan of Angie; she was whiny, immature and her mouth engaged before her brain did. If I had to use one word to sum it all up........ disappointed......d:(
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review***
Lani has done this series and this book justice with the way she always draws a reader in and captivates them with her storytelling. This book is indescribable and I'm at a lost for words to show you how this book made me feel, but I'll try. Angie to me is a fighter after having her father leave and start a whole new family along with new daughters she felt as if she would always be replaceable. Enter Bowe who not so lucky with the ladies but is one fine specimen who tends to go shy around women that he like and he wants Angie with a passion. After a fortunate incident (in my book anyway) all bet are off and Bowe makes it his mission to get the girl and his HEA. This book is filled with so many high and lows that it leaves your head spinning, don't forget about the action, suspense and chemistry that melts the pages of your kindle with every word written. I love this series and will be sad to see it end, which I hope never happens.
Another great story to add to our wonderful collection of Lani Lynn Vale books. Bowe & Angie's story had just the perfect amount of drama and suspense. Let me not forget to mention the steaming hot love scenes. One that comes to my mind would have to be when Bowe cannot contain himself any longer and must have a piece of Angie ASAP! Never mind that they are at school, in a classroom, with other students outside passing by in the hall. But wait did I mention that Bowe is her teacher for said class! Yes, Bowe is the teacher and Angie is the student. Need to know more, than I recommend you buy the book ASAP! As always catching glimpses of some of our favorite previous story characters is the best. Even better is learning what has been happening with Fatbaby! Yes, we must all remember Fatbaby. If you do not know who he is then I highly recommend you read the entire Kilgore Fire series, trust me you will enjoy it!
However, the way the book was written in a way that felt kind of disjointed or dare b'day haphazardly. It was almost like things were thrown in, in totally the wrong place, to fill in back stories.. then the drama that unfolded was beginning to feel like filler to get enough words in so it didn't come off as a short story. Don't get me wrong, I read everything this author puts out and will continue to do so. It's just that part of me wants to say settle down and think it over before hitting publish.
