Heidel, Wult warrior princess, is having a bad day.

First, a pack of wraiths chased her from a dragon's vault. Then, the thief she traveled with, Maveryck, who was supposed to be a professional, lost the staff they stole. Instead of reclaiming it, he created a portal that sucked them into a nightmarish world full of noxious fumes and mechanical beasts. Earth.

To make matters worse, Heidel is now stuck with the incompetent thief in Paris, France, and they have no way to get back home. As if that wasn't bad enough, Maveryck is keeping secrets from her — secrets about his past and his identity. Plus, he's far too attractive to be trusted. She's been on hellish quests before, but nothing has ever been more difficult than guarding her heart. And she's pretty sure she's going to fail. Miserably.

I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Goblinwraith is a short 67 page novella told from Heidel's point of view. Throughout the Fairyworld series I have went back and forth on my feelings towards Heidel, so it was nice to get to know more about her and what is going on inside her head. I think after Goblinwraith Heidel will remain a character I like. Seeing her tough exterior finally start to thaw thanks to her connection with Maveryck was wonderful. I hope there is more romance for her in the future. She deserves some happiness after her difficult past.

For my full review of this title, see the original post on my book blog, So Few Books, at: https://sofewbooks.blogspot.com/2017/...!

I was not prepared to like this story as well as I did... Heidel wasn't especially one of my favorite characters prior to this either...

Maveryck and Heidel are both rather different characters, but the relationship that develops between them is darling. There is a lot of information learned in this short story that fills in many gaps about both characters...

...[I]t was quite enjoyable to learn more about both of these unique individuals and see the way in which their doomed and short-lived relationship delveoped. With any luck, we will learn more about both of them as the series continues.

This book was an incredible short story about Heidel. I loved learning a bit more about her and about Maveryck and their side of the story. Heidel is an amazing character full of attitude, spunk, and courage. An out and out warrior princess with a heart of gold. This author did a fantastic job writing this story and giving us a small look into the life of an amazing character that we have all been craving. I loved knowing Heidel's point of view of things. It made for a witty and fun read and I highly recommend it!!

This is a very short story about one of the side characters in Olive Kennedy's series, and it does a good job staying true to the characters of Heidel as we've come to know her.

My only hang up is really that there's not more to this story. I want more. I wanted it to be dragged out longer and to see the more subtle moments in which Heidel allows herself to be vulnerable with Maveryck. With the timeline of events, however, I also understand that a lot of emotion had to be packed into a short time frame.

So I get it...

But also: I want more.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this novella! This story takes place during the time of Silverwitch. I loved getting to see inside Heidel’s head. On the outside, she is such a hard character and this story shows what is really going on inside her head. Before this short story she was a take or leave character but now I like her so much more and care what happens to her the upcoming books.

Goblinwraith by Tamara Grantham is a companion novella to Silverwitch, Book 4 in the Olive Kennedy Fairy World MD Series, as well as Book 5 in the series. It is told from the viewpoint of Heidel, Kull's sister from the main series.

It's wonderful getting another viewpoint; Heidel and the thief, Maveryck, fall into a portal to the Earth Kingdom, and have an adventure of their own. Definite 5-star read. I cannot wait for book 6.

This is a companion novella that ties in with the 4th book in the Olive Kennedy series and anyone who has read Silverwitch needs to pick this up. Without giving spoilers let me just say that this answers some questions about what happened during a little "disappearance". It is brilliant. I think the author read my mind because I have to say I certainly wondered what had happened and now i have read this my questions are answered. What a wonderful little pre Christmas treat for me!

5 well earned stars from me! V""V

Oh my word! A Bonus book!

I love a good novella and seeing as Silverwitch left me with a book hangover, this was an excellent "hair of the dog" to feed my Faythander addiction.
Plus now my girlcrush is split between Olive and Heidel!

This is a wonderful book to slide between four and six of the main series. Not only does this novella help bridge the wait, but it fills in the missing adventures of one of the side characters, Heidel, during the last novel (4).

Heidel and Maveryck were able to escape with the magical staff but were attacked by a Goblinwraith. During the fight, the staff's magic does something unexpected and the two heroes find themselves in the Earth realm. And what happens from there is something Heidel never expected.

This is not a book that can be read alone, but it's definitely worth a read. Heidel's character really comes to life in this novella, adding a whole new facet to her personality. It's not a revelation about her past, but hits her present feelings and thoughts. Where only the warrior has been present before, a more tender side is exposed. . .but no without the warrior hardness.

As is normal with this series, this isn't a warm-fuzzy feeling, emotional tale but wraps around action and tension. The Goblinwraith is dangerous and won't give up. There are battles, tough ones, and danger lurks in every shadow. There's a wonderful sense of humor thrown in, however, as Heidel rams into modern day France, adding a perfect release and rounding off Heidel's character even more.

Only the ending felt a bit rushed and stumbled a little, but since it's already clear where the two will end up--thanks to book 4--this isn't an easy plot to work into.

Summed up, this is a fast-paced, eye-opening side trip which adds to the series and makes the wait for the final moment more exciting.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and enjoy this series so much that I want to share my thoughts.
