Hot Candy #2

Candy Ever After

Rate this book
“Candy, why is your bed so big?”
“… to fit my two boyfriends when we snuggle together at night.”
Only that’s my father asking, staring at the bed in question.
Oops.
So yeah. Unruly Jethro and cocky Joel are now officially my boyfriends. My Candy Boys. I moved in with them, and I expected things to be tense, awkward. I was wrong. This feels so right, and well, hot. These boys are so hot.
But with college starting, Jethro returning to work at the bookshop, and Joel starting his own business, everything’s shifting. Not to forget the fact that Joel still hasn’t confronted his parents about our relationship, that Jethro is still recovering from his dad’s brutal attack, and that I feel insecure, well…
Wait a sec. Insecure? Come on, Candy. That’s BS. These boys love you.
Yeah, I know. The boys and me, we’re solid. However, doubt still lingers. I mean, Joel’s parents hate each other. Jethro’s dad killed his mom, for chrissakes—and my mom has acquired a sudden interest in sex toys and escort services.
So I wonder if true love really exists. Love that doesn’t fade over time. You know, the kind that withstands nightmares and bad jokes, unwashed dishes in the sink and lack of lube.
Yeah, that happened.
These boys own me. They’re sweet, sexy and caring—but will they break my heart, or is this our happily ever after?

Candy Boys was one of my favorite MMF smut reads last year. It was fresh, it was funny, it was sexy. It was different.

Naturally, I was so happy when I found out that there is an epilogue for their fairytale. A clear HEA and not a HFN as the “Candy Boys” provided. Because okay we know now that Jethro, Joel, and Candace want each other, support and love each other BUT still there are so many things that need to be done in order to feel that this is going somewhere:

• Jethro aka Jet needs to live with his nightmares and feel always loved. It was not easy to survive a hard childhood with his homicidal father and it is not easy to get over the attack that happened in the previous book and almost cost his life.
• Joel needs to come out to his parents and let them know that he is bisexual and currently involved with two people. It is not easy because Joel has been taught to obey them and his parents are really conservative and cruel to anything different. His sister has barely endured their wrath.
• Candace aka Candy is the connecting link between Jet and Joel. Her parents are more than supportive, her friends are crazier than her and more adaptive, her brother is absent but still he is more than happy that his sister is happy.

The final act, initiated by Joel, will result in the absolute acceptance of their little family by anyone who really matters.

2.5 Serious or OTT Ridiculous?? Stars

Copy kindly provided for HONEST review

 photo seriously_zpsoqtwnts2.gif

To me this book suffered an identity crisis not sure if it was meant to be serious or OTT ridiculous. One minute Candy's mum is asking her advice on vibrating butt plugs then in the next Joel was struggling with life altering decisions and it was all serious.

I love both serious genre's and ridiculous ones but for me they don't mix well, I have read a few good ones, the writing has to be fantastic to make it work and this one just didn't get there. If she had stuck with the ridiculous and funny stuff I think it would have worked better.

What spoilt this book and the first for me was this threesome felt like a twosome, Jethro and Joel with the third wheel being Candy. Even while all three were having sex it was all about the two guys getting off by feeling each other, just made me feel sorry for Candy.

 photo denial_zpshbrymwux.gif

But Candy was all like:

 photo candy_zpsaljwmx4u.gif

And didn't seem to mind being the third wheel at all ;)

For me this was more an addition to the first book rather than a HEA, the way it wrapped up left things wide open. If you enjoyed the first book I am sure you will like this little addition :)

A good conclusion

This was a nice ending to the story of Candy, Jet, and Joel. They are now living together, but still have issues to resolve in their lives. Candy took down her blog but still writes their story for herself, Jet is suffering from PTSD from his childhood and when his father stabbed him and Joel is trying to figure out how to tell his parents that he is bisexual and in a relationship with a woman and another man. His father is homophobic and a hater and this causes no end of stress to Joel. Though the love these three have for each other is enough to get them through. I just love how they support each other and the intimate scenes are super steamy!

“Chronic insomnia caused by gory nightmares sucks donkey balls!”

“Never has a guy made white briefs look so good since the Calvin Klein underwear campaign with Travis Fimmel, I swear.”

“Eventually I get out of the shower before I use up all the hot water, because I may be an idiot but I’m not an asshole”

3.75 "fuck me senseless" stars

Simply said, holy fuckin shit!

The same guilty pleasure combos MMF, MM, MFM were off the charts sinful and sweet baby Jesus...ah, well we wont include him here...scratch that! It was HOT HOT HOT!
Nuf said!

Some parts were meant to be "deeper" in thoughts of acceptance and acknowledgement of the terms of sexuality and some parts were naively ridiculous, instead of being humorous...

but i still giggled to those latter parts (yes, you've read it correctly, i fuckin giggled) in between a rolleye or two *wink*

and, well...that's all folks!

"Candy Ever After" Candy Boys Epilogue is by author Jo Raven.
Release Date: January 20, 2017
Read: January 8, 2017
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book*

My Rating: 5++ Stars!!!

I'm never surprised how much I love Jo Raven's newest releases. I have never been disappointed, love all of her books and am always impatient for her next.

If you read "Candy Boys" then you will fully appreciate this epilogue, "Candy Ever After." If you haven't yet read Candy Boys, I highly recommend you do before reading this epilogue. It is not a standalone. And it continues pretty close to where Candy Boys left off.

Candy, Joel, and Jet are in a menage/MMF relationship. They are not simply dating, they live together and love each other. The chemistry and intimacy between them is scorching. Joel and Jet are serious book boyfriends.

This book takes us on the journey of not only their newly formed relationship, but also their current emotions and concerns. Candy, Joel, and Jet each have their separate worries and fears.

Jet is still dealing with the horror and continuous nightmares caused by his father trying to kill him. He is exhausted from lack of sleep, stressed and trying to cope with his fears that Joel will walk away from their relationship.

Joel loves Jet and Candy more than anything. But he is still struggling with "coming out" to his parents and what their reaction will be. I don't want to say what happened but that moment in the book left a bad taste in my mouth. Joel's father was a real piece of crap. If I had any disappointment with this book it was that scene. It left me feeling angry and dissatisfied. There wasn't enough closure. I admit I was hoping for a gesture by his parents towards the end of the book. Joel deserved better. But there was no gesture.

Candy's love for Joel and Jet was unconditional. She was a sweet and loving young woman and they were lucky to have her in their lives. Her love and loyalty towards Joel and Jet was heartwarming and endearing. I really loved Candy.

I don't want to give away any details because you should be able to enjoy this amazing story on your own without the help of spoilers. I will say there were intense moments. I laughed and cried and laughed some more. Also intense was their intimacy AND fears. A great combination of witty dialogue and passionate monologue. I loved that it was told in all three POVs. All of the secondary characters were essentially an important addition. That added to the story's development and teased about what's to come next. I can't wait for what Jo give us next.

There was so much going on in this book and I loved it!

Having very much enjoyed Candy Boys, I was quite excited when I discovered Jo Raven would be releasing an epilogue of sorts entitled, Candy Ever After. Having loved all three characters and their steamy menage relationship, I was very excited for them to get some additional page time.
Candy Ever After begins with Candy now living with Joel and Jet. All should be perfect and in theory it is, except the day to day life of a relationship tends to have some complications. Meshing two people and their personal baggage is hard enough, add in a third and there is bound to be some drama. Luckily for the readers, there is nowhere near as much drama in this story as their was in the original. In fact, much of the drama is the aftermath of previous drama or some minor residual drama remaining from last time.
One of the biggest source of unrest, not surprisingly, is what Jet faces. It isn't easy dealing with the aftermath of your father trying to kill you. He is having trouble sleeping and can't help still worrying Joel will Candy and him. Joel has his own issues, as he needs to be honest with his parents and lay the details of his unconventional relationship out for them. That scene was one of the most emotional in the book for me and I still want to run up to him and hug him and make it all better. Candy is also plagued with doubts. She knows that Joel and Jet love her, but she can't help worrying her perfect fantasy turned reality will vanish before her eyes.
My main complaint with Candy Ever After is that I went in expecting it to be an epilogue and as such, wanted a happy ending with all loose ends tied up. We didn't really get that and it is left quite open ended. I'm not sure if we'll see more of our beloved trio, but going off the title of this story, I'm not really expecting it. One of my favorite aspects was the interactions between Candy and her parents. You will literally laugh out loud (especially at her mom's antics). I enjoyed revisiting Joel, Jet and Candy, but can't help wishing their ever after was tied up a bit more neatly.

It's official! Comming to terms with a book that ended up pushing me another notch into the darker side of romance. That it took almost 4 years to get to book 2. All because of the green eyed monster. These might be fictional characters. In every plot there is a grain of truth.

Do I really have to read the third and last book in the series. It's dad enough that girly is juggling two guys in a relationship with open communication. While having a quirky best friend. Where now bestie gets her ever after. There better be an explosion or a bloody scene in it

Jo Raven's newest release “"Candy Ever After" is a beautiful follow up to the first book in the series "Candy Boys". I would highly recommend that you read bk 1 before reading book 2. It helps you understand things that take place in this storyline and things that have happened.
Candy, Joel, and Jet are in a menage M/M/F relationship. They live and love each other all together Their chemistry is one that is so electric and so in harmony, that they coexist literally as one unit. In this book, its about the ups and downs their relationship takes, how when one hurts, they all hurt. It is also about Candy, Joel, and Jet each have their separate worries , fears and concerns which impact the relationship and how with that going on, their relationship does undergo some tests. Joel loves Jet and Candy more than anything but he is fighting with certain demons in his past ; There was a scene in the book that broke my heart involving Joel yet his loves were there when they found out what happened. Candy's love for Joel and Jet was so deep and permanent. She would do anything for her men .In her mind, she didn’t want anyone else except the men her heart fell in love with and she would do anything for them. There were intense moments and there were beautiful and intensely emotional moments that will grasp you and leave you breathless. Oh that sex is hot hot hot. I don’t want to say too much, giving away too much of the story but what I can say is how awesome and lovely this story is. How there are moments that are so funny, yet there are moments that are so emotional and intense. That is what relationships are all about and the author conveyed that perfectly. Kudos to the author for writing a great followup to Candy and her boys!

The epilogue to Joel, Candy and Jet’s story.
They continue to live together and have a thriving three-way relationship, but there are a few unfinished issues that are standing in the way of their future.
Joel has to face the rest of his doubts and insecurities and stand up to his parents. But in doing that, Candy and Jet worry he will run again.
Jet is still healing physically and emotionally from his dad’s attack and the reoccurring nightmares of his mom’s death. His self-doubt is also trying to control his emotions and decisions.
Candy has concerns of her own as to where the boys see their relationship going, she wants more, wants a declaration of a future but she is afraid to disrupt the fragile peace they have now.
I really liked their relationship, sometimes when there are more than two involved one seems to be left out a bit or it feels that way, but not with Joel, Candy and Jet. They clearly loved each other and to them, they were each other’s everything. Even in the bedroom they had a natural flow that was never forced.
I really hate Joel’s dad! I wished Joel didn’t have to be hurt by them that way, but it was good to see him be able to handle it without pulling away. I think that was the final link to make their relationship unbreakable.
Brylee, good lord please tell me this girl gets a book! She is a mess. I don’t know if I want her to be with Holden, Riddick, or perhaps both?

THE STEAMY HOT MENAGE CONTINUES.

I didn't expect anything after Candy boys which was a hot, humorous and fun to read with Candy,Joel and Jet venturing into uncharted territory in their relationship with each other.

So for Jo to bring out another book I was surprised. In Candy ever after we get to see how Candy and the J's have been adapting in this trio of love.

M&M romance isn't my kind of read I'm a boy meets girl, girl meets boy leading to hea with hotness thrown in kind of reader but this is Jo Raven and being a fan of Jo and her writing I gave it a go.

I liked it, there's no heavy drama, no emotionally damaged man or woman, no hidden depth to the plot. It is what it is, this is three people loving each other, battling with insecurities and banging on the closet door to come out and let everyone know regardless if they agree or not.

BUT
Warning! this read is also hot,so hot you will squirm, I even wondered at one point who washes the bedding because Damn! it got hot, heavy and messy at times.

Candy Ever After is a perfect ending for the two J's and their Sugar Candy pop.

Title: Candy Ever After
Author: Jo Raven

4 unexpected stars

So you know how some authors will mention that their series should be read in order for a better reading experience and then so many of us scoff at the warning for all different reasons and figure that they'll grab the book anyways because, well heck, they just have to read the book and now? I'm that kind of person, the one that will sometimes disregard some warnings. Howerver, Jo Raven's Candy Ever After is one of the books where you should read the first in the series since it pretty much starts off where the previous novel ends. Not that I couldn't follow what happened in the second part - much of it I was able to fill in the blanks and the parts that I couldn't, well I felt left out of a really good joke (alright, some weren't funny at all, but you get what I mean, right? )

5 hot and sweaty dreams
I won't deny that I'm into a whole menage genre kick and yes, I've become somewhat judgey on what I do and don't like, and what I don't like is when it sounds and feels fake. But Jo Raven made me feel their connection: Candy and her boys Jethro and Joel, are still trying to figure things out between each other and although they love each other, like any relationship, there are still problems. They still needed to find what works for them and fight their own inner demons. What am I doing now that I've finished Candy Ever After? Get my grubby little hands on Candy Boys because filling the blanks only gets me so far and all great series need to be read in its entirety.

I was so disappointed in this book after I just finished reading the first one (Candy Boys) and liked it so much. In the first book there was a good balance of story to steamy sexy scenes. Not in this book unfornately. I felt like all the progress/growth each character Jethro/Candy/Joel alone and collectively had made in the first book was completely undone for no reason in this book. All this book was about was m/f sex scenes with the no real story to balance it. It seemed to only rehash what happened in the first book. It is rare I like a female character in the first book and not like her in the 2nd but in this book I did. Candy was in every scene and both Jethro (well mostly) and Joel were once again all about having sex with her. It was really disappointing because it should been more focused on Jethro/Joel's sexual exploration to make this a real m/m/f story but it wasn't. She was the spoiler because anytime these men would start to get intimate with each other she would ruin it by making herself known so they focused their attention on her instead of each other and at no point she did turn them down or tell them to focus on each other. Nooo. It was all about her needs. Or instead of actually talking about their issues Jethro and Candy threw in the towel and have sex in front of Joel to get his attention and Candy once again doesn't even try to be the voice of reason to Jethro. I'm so tired of reading these types of scenes. It got boring and repetiive real quick so the sex scenes had no purpose anymore. Like I said there was no balance between story and steamy sexy scenes in this book.

The last chapter in this book could have been the first book's Epilogue. Just saying. The ground work was already laid out in the first book to make this book even better but it wasn't. I don't like to give 1 star reviews but I just had to because when I got half way through this book I was rolling my eyes more and more. I nearly DNF'd it but I continued to the end but wished I hadn't.

When I saw there was going to be a second book to Candy Boys I was soooo excited! I loved the steam and humor of that book so hard and I could only guess what this one had in store for me.

Oh candy, she is just as fun and spunk as in the first book. Right from the start we are thrown back into the world of Candy and her boys and I loved it! Candy is one badA$$ chick!

Jethro and Joel are they amazing selves, they are a bit more open throughout this book because a lot of the drama was told in the first book. We still deal with some of Joel's drama but it made a huge impact on the couple and the story. We also see the impact events from the last book book with Jet.

So this takes place after the first book and right from the start we know we are going to be in for a wild ride, nosy parents, kinky food sex, nightmares and so much more.

Told from multiple POVs that gives this story a great spin, we get to be in all three heads and seeing all the other characters from a specific character's point of view was great.

This story is super hot! Nothing is better then two hot men and a beautiful woman. I love how the author wrote each sex scene, they flowed with precision.

Overall it was a really good conclusion to these three amazing characters. That being said I felt that the ending was rushed and I was left needing to know about Joel's parents, I don't feel that we got a real ending there, also closure for jets past was kinda left out too., but even with that I really enjoyed this story! Maybe we will get another book about these amazing characters in the future. I would love to see Brylee get a story! She deserves one. 4 stars #2OCCJD

A Different Type of Love Story with Heart

I love those "where are they now" type stories. I knew after reading Candy Boys that Candy, Joel, and Jet's story wasn't over. These three people so in love had more of a story to tell, things to experience and walls to let down and breakdown.

I think Candy was the glue that held them all together. She was a calm in this brewing storm. She was what the boys needed to break through their insecurities and open themselves to their new love. Her openness and acceptance allowed them to slowly follow. It was a beautiful thing to see develop.

Candy Ever After is a must read if you like a different type of love story that still delivers with heat, a bit of angst and a heart warming ending.

I was so looking forward to this book as I absolutely loved Candy Boys. Unfortunately, initially I have to admit I was disappointed. Maybe it was to do with how much I had hyped it up in my mind but I just couldn't get into it to start with. There didn't seem to be much actual story and it seemed a tad disjointed. However, I'm very glad I persevered as the book did get a lot better in the latter part and much more in line with the magic of the original book. I do love the characters. I love the MFM and the emerging of the MM between Jet and Joel and the continuance of the love story with Candy. There are some very sexy scenes but I can't help thinking it could have been a whole lot better and more in keeping with the magic of Candy Boys. I hope this will be seen as constructive criticism as I really like this author but I do want to also give my honest opinion
I still recommend reading this as a sequel

Hotness overload!!!

This is a sequel to Candy Boys. We join the trio as they're settling into their new life of living together after Jethro's attack. They're the happiest they've ever been but none of them can settle just yet as it's all so new and they're frightened it's all gonna be taken away from them.

Jethro is still recovering from the attack by his father. He has nightmares and lack of sleep is playing with his head. He has everything he wants but he has a nagging doubt in his mind that he's gonna be left on his own. Candy has her family. Joel has his. All he has are his cousin's. He never wants to be alone again.

Candy is worried about both her guys. She want's forever but is not sure they do. Her parents are having a breakdown and she doesn't know what to do. She want's one big happy family.

Joel is shoving away his fears of telling his father he has a boyfriend and a girlfriend. He wants to be out to everyone but because of the way his father is he's reluctant to tell them. He wants Candy and Jethro to be proud of him but he's scared.

All three are struggling with the new arrangements but one thing never in doubt is their love for each other.

Goodness!! The hotness in this book is on overload! wowzers! Plenty of reading juice for private time i can tell ya! Charge those batteries ladies you may need them!.

I really enjoy the dynamics of this trio and their vulnerabilities. I really love how it each other they care about and not what anyone else things. Jethro's non filtered mouth had me chuckling in the convo's with Candy's mom. Probably the most embarrassing mom I've ever read!

Fab little conclusion to Candy boys and i can't wait for Brylee's story because she's just crackers.

You get to meet some new faces in this book and reading them i really want the rest of the series now.

Love the two J's yum yum double yum!

Wonderful hot read! Highly recommend to all that have read Candy Boys!

****Kim's Review!****

I received an ARC for my honest review.

This is the follow up to Candy Boys. Candy and her boyfriends Joel and Jet are now all living together as a threesome.

Candy's Mum is hilarious she sure knows how to embarrass her daughter with her new fetish for sex toys and talking about sex to Candy's boyfriends. Joel decides it's finally time to tell his Dad that he's Bi - that was never going to go down well.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book, but I feel like there's more to come, this book seems to be a filler of sorts. Hopefully I'm right.

Panty wetting sex scenes, and it was nice to see the three again, but I need more. Four stars.

***Nic's Review!***

I received an ARC for my honest review.

I am giving this a 3.5 star rating. Which really saddens me. I hate giving a poor review.

I am so disappointed in this book. The first one was fantastic. This one, I was trying to figure out the plot of the whole story. I am all for the great sex scenes and all but, this was a bit much. It kind of was like she was covering for the lack of a story line. It was all over the place.

I really liked seeing some of the other characters come back. Character build was good and written well. The book flowed smoothly so you could read it quickly.

You could read the first book and just leave it at that. This book just makes things more lost and confusing for me. I was hoping it would have been more about how things have progressed in their life and relationship.

This will not discourage me from reading any of her other books though. Just want to repeat that I normally like Jo's books. That is why I am kind of taken aback by this book.

Jo Raven's Candy Ever After is proof that even the best of relationships have growing pains and take work. Between Jet's trauma from the attack by his father, Joel hiding who he really is with his relationship with Candy and Jet, and Candy not being sure if the relationship will last. Candy, Joel and Jet know their relationship is unconventional they also know that without each person the relationship doesn't work for any of them so fears from Jet and Candy are real when they feel like Joel may change his mind when he talks to his parents, if he does. Jet loves every moment he spends with Candy and Joel, yet fears he's not good enough thanks to the trauma he went through growing up. Joel knows he wants a stronger connection with Jet, yet when he tells him what he wants Jet is scared it will push Joel away. Add in some very over-sharing mom of Candy's, fears for his cousins from Jet and what do I want to do with my life from Joel. I loved Candy's Boys and can say the same with Candy Ever After! Jo Raven has an amazing ability to write characters that you can't help but root for to come out on top. A hot, sweet and funny new read from Jo Raven! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

From the very beginning this author had me smirking or grinning, then chuckling and at times laughing out loud! All of these things are a definite plus for me! If I'm reading a romantic comedy I like to enjoy a chuckle or too with the characters and you definitely do that with this story. For e.g. when Jet says this about his boss. "She’s pretty for a thirty-year-old with the personality of a sumo wrestler and the temper of a mad Chihuahua." Great one liners!

This is the book that finishes Candy, Jet and Joel's story. All have committed to a relationship together however there are some demons that interfere.

This is a quick and easy to read story that leaves wanting to read more from this talented author. There is more than humour in this book though. Some much deeper issues arise like personal insecurities that are easy to identify with because they are very real, other people's perceptions and prejudices as well. All are handled smoothly but not in a fairytale manner.

I look forward to reading more from Jo Raven.

(audiobook) There wasn’t much left to resolve at the end of the first book, except, mostly, the acceptance of Candy, Joel and Jethro’s relationship by the rest of the world. Especially their family and friends. And so that’s the main focus of this bonus epilogue.

Joel’s family, who’s the least accepting, becomes the main problem. Plus we know from the first book that Joel’s upbringing and the pressure his parents put on him was a huge obstacle to Joel accepting his special feelings. So there’s a lot of tension here--will Joel stay with his lovers despite his parents’ disapproval? To keep the reader entertain, other subplots appear--the sex life of Candy’s parents, Jethro’s cousin, and other little stories inside the big one.

There’s also one last big step left to the characters in the exploration of their sexuality, and it fills most of the sex scenes.

And the narrators are once again at the top of their talent, bringing life into those characters.

All in all, it’s a very good conclusion to the story of the first book.

I was so excited when I saw there was going to be a follow up to Candy Boys! Every now and then I like to read something that is a little bit outside the normal romance genre. So I was more than happy for an encore from Candy, Joel and Jethro.
I must admit, I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as I did Candy Boys, but there was still plenty to keep me entertained. There is still a satisfying blend of strong feels, humor and intense chemistry. This time it's Joel's turn for the emotional turmoil, coming to terms with how his parents are going to deal with his life choices. Candy's mother, although WAY over the top, provides much humor and entertainment with her her talk of sex toys and awkward questions about her daughter's sex life. Meanwhile in the bedroom, the trio try new and interesting things. Hooray for new adventures! While there were a few elements that didn't quite feel right to me, overall I was quite happy to revisit these characters. Definitely worth the read.
