Khaos Engine by D. R. Linton
I absolutely loved this book and, once I got into it, I found it really difficult to put down!
As an avid reader of Romantasy, science fiction isn't usually my go-to genre, so it took me a little while to settle into the story. However, that was more down to my usual reading preferences than anything else, and I'm so glad I persevered because this book really pulled me in.
There are so many twists and turns, and the unexpected ending definitely caught me by surprise! The character development is brilliant, and I particularly loved how even the lesser characters had such an important place in the story. Their contributions felt so relevant that you genuinely noticed when they weren't there. That's something I really appreciate as a reader.
I'm a sucker for rooting for the underdog, and this book gave me more than one character to get behind and cheer on. Watching them fight their corner against a hierarchy involving billionaires and highly influential professionals in the police and technology industries made for a compelling read. There were also some very unexpected and quite shocking creations within law enforcement that genuinely made me raise my eyebrows!
I also really liked how the chapters are broken up into parts. It gave the storyline a much quicker pace and kept things moving, making it easy to find yourself wanting to read just one more part.
Overall, this was a brilliant surprise for me, especially as it's outside my usual genre. I loved the characters, the twists, the pacing and the way the story kept me guessing.
I'm definitely left wanting more, and I would absolutely read the next book. If you enjoy sci-fi with twists, strong character development and plenty of reasons to root for the underdog, I'd recommend giving Khaos Engine a go!

Clever and extremely engrossing!
Really enjoyed reading this book, and it has me itching for more!
Initially I wasn't sure on how the viewpoint jumped around, but as the story progressed it made sense and actually heightened the suspense on offer.
Unique and highly enjoyable read!

Fast paced page turner. Perfect commute to work reading material. I would highly recommend it
