The greatest journeys in life are often those taken in silence, with no one else watching. They are the journeys of self-discovery, when one learns one’s true history and destiny. They are the times when self-discipline must trump the massive desire to act in a manner that offers a short term benefit… but a long term disaster.
Adam long knew he faced such a journey, one he’d face completely alone. He didn’t know how he’d ever begin; fate seemed stacked against him. And yet he knew the stakes, knew that his failure — or his discovery — could doom him and those he loves most.
And then… fate smiled on him. For just a few brief moments, the window opened, and he commenced that journey.
I am a lifelong Ohio resident, where I live with my wife and three children. When I'm not trying to be in three places at once with my active youngsters, I'm following local professional and collegiate sports teams, or possibly unscrambling a Rubik's Cube. In lieu of sleep, I read and write fiction.
My debut novel, A QUESTION OF WILL, explores themes of technological advancement, human potential (good and bad), and the love bonding a family together. It reached the Amazon Top 100 in Science Fiction -> High Tech less than a week after publication. The sequels--PRESERVING HOPE, ASCENT OF THE ALIOMENTI, and BIRTH OF THE ALLIANCE--continue to follow Will's adventures, bringing to life the technological and Energy advances he's achieved in entirely new settings.
I am currently drafting the fifth of seven novels in the series.
I have been waiting a long time to read this. From the beginning, I wanted to know more about both Adams'. This was good as it filled in a lot of my questions but the way Alex writes, has me saying more, more, more. What he has done with the series is fantastic. I look forward to it all being tied together.

Wasn't sure that I would enjoy going over old ground again with Adam but the effort was worth while. Time Travel certainly is complicated even without getting sidetracked into questions of predestination but one thing bothers me: when and how did "old" Will and "young" Will merge back into one person? A similar question applies to Adam's return to Eden as he watches his "other" self arrive. Maybe I'm thinking a bit too deeply - read the book(s) and see if I've missed something.
Last year I read and reviewed books 1-7 of The Aliomenti Saga. It's a great series that I loved all the twists and turns, bringing SciFi, time travel, and fantasy together with an innocent man who is told he's the saviour with an egotistical maniac who wants him dead. Go on, read it. The series is great.
Anyway, I held off reading the eighth instalment, Adam's Journey, because I didn't want to ruin the series as some sequels who go back to a story line don't quite hit the mark... Boy, was I wrong!
As soon as the book started, I was swept away into the world of nanotechnology and magic, immediately remembering everything that had happened previously and watching wide-eyed as I saw the same stories from another perspective, getting better whilst simultaneously being more complex.
Despite me saying the plot is convoluted, it is actually an easy read. The story is well written so you always understand as much as you need to know at that time, without it becoming too complicated or difficult to follow. Though some things you don't fully understand until later in the books, there are no plot holes, and everything comes neatly to an end, without it becoming twee.
I have some more books written by Albrinck that I can't wait to read.
It was a good secondary wrap up giving clues and finishing up some of those things that we all wondered about. but it just wasn't as gripping as the rest of the series. Hence the lower rating . to me it was still a good read just not a great one like books 1-7 . I hate to say it jumped around a lot but it did (lol ) yes bad pun intended.
I read the entire series in one go as I couldn't put them down. Perhaps now I can get on with some work! I look forward to the next book as I have grown very attached to Will, Hope, Adam and the others. I must admit some of the technical parts beat me but they were absolutely fascinating..
I have now read the entire series. It was great, one of the best that I've read. Can't Waite to read the next series, just ordered it.I definitely have a new favorite author now.
This is my favorite series. There is a vast array of characters. The character development is very thorough and intriguing. The complications of time travel are thoroughly explored. This is a clean book in the sense that it is appropriate for any age.
I am in awe of the complexity of the interweaving stories over centuries of time. I'll take a break for some different reading...but I'll be back for the next series!
The end of one of the most interesting set of books that I have ever read. Alex is an amazing author that can totally keep his facts straight even when time hopping.
Alex has done it again and given us another glimpse into the world of the Aliomenti. Albeit with some things you'll remember and a lot that answers some questions you may have had from the other books. A fun read that kept me glued to my kindle until completion. I highly recommend this book to all lovers of Alex's work like me.
