As an advertising executive, it’s Logan’s job to sell people holiday cheer, and he’s good at what he does. But deep down, Logan hates everything about Christmas, so he worries that his crush on the hot baker who loves the holidays is a recipe for disaster.

Last year, Logan saw Ryan at a holiday party Ryan was catering, and the attraction was instant. In a drunken moment, Logan made it his New Year’s resolution to ask the pastry chef out. But another year has slipped away, time is running out, and Logan’s assistant demands he collect on his resolution. Can Logan find the confidence that usually comes so easily to him? And if he does, will Ryan have any interest in spending the holidays with a man who doesn’t share his enthusiasm for the season?

There is something about the holiday season that makes me feel mellow; which is probably one of the reasons why I loved this short story. See, I found Resolutions to pack a damn punch, despite despite my lack of familiarity to anything Emma Keene might previously written since she is a new-to-me author but. I love stories that can make me feel and Keene definitely did it within 10.000 words *sigh*.

For all of you smut readers out there (you know who you are *cackles*), this story is clean. There are kisses but no sex. However, for me, it works WONDERFULLY. Why? Because it focuses on the progress and to me, that's often more important than the sexual content. It can make it more romantic *double sigh*

Logan, an advertising executive has been crushing on bakery owner, Ryan, for the whole year. The previous year, Logan made a resolution to ask Ryan out but he hasn't been able to do so. I felt strongly for Logan; from the moment he was being all awkward with Ryan (despite him being a very successful ad guy!!) to him helping Ryan with the gingerbread house cake to him thinking that Ryan had someone else already and that he was too late...

I thought Keene was able to describe Logan's fear very well ... of being rejected, of Ryan not returning his feeling ... I ended up rooting for this couple so badly!

Their first kiss just made me all gooey because it was worth it to stick with Logan through it all ... until he finally gets his guy :)

Yes, I loved this. Let me doodle little hearts all over the story. This might just be one of my favorites of the DSP 2016 Advent Calendar - Bah Humbug collection

“Christmas Grinch meets Christmas enthusiast” is the holiday version of opposites attract, and this setup worked well for me in this story. Logan hates Christmas (for understandable reasons, as I eventually found out), and Ryan loves everything about it. When these two very different men meet at a Christmas function, the sparks should fly. But, interestingly, they don’t. At least not immediately and not openly. It turns out that Logan has a lot more to work through than his aversion to Christmas before he can gather enough courage to ask Ryan for a date.

Logan is good at his job. He is an advertising executive, has lots of confidence, and handles even difficult clients with aplomb. He likes Ryan on sight, even ends up going to the man’s bakery every day for a coffee and something sweet, but he cannot get himself to ask for a date. Had it not been for his pushy assistant, I am not sure he ever would have made his move!

Ryan is too sweet for words, and since he is a passionate baker, that says a lot. He also has the patience of a saint. But it takes a major mishap in his shop for him and Logan to spend more than five minutes together.

If you like shy characters who can’t seem to go after the man they have fallen for, and if you’re looking for a read with a slowly developing romance and lots of sweet moments, then you might like this short story.

Cute Christmas hater story.
But sometimes, we need to cope with the unease of what we don't like in exchange to win someone's heart. And let destiny do their jobs.
Or a matchmaker secretary in this case.
The epilogue was quite satisfying, it's holiday seasons after all.
Everyone should be happy!

When I first finished this story, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I mean, I liked it a lot. I enjoyed the fact that Logan was such a successful ad guy but that he was so awkward and nervous around Ryan. I liked that Ryan was always just there being all sweet and needing help but for some reason, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the story.

Even now I’m not sure. I’ve thought about it and I really enjoyed it so I’m going with that but I’m a little lost on what to say for this review. I loved the characters, especially Logan, and I loved the premise of the story – how Logan made a New Year’s resolution to ask Ryan out and then at the end of the year he’s struggling uphold doing that resolution. Although, I felt like something was missing out of the story that really held back from me loving it but I can’t pinpoint what that something is 😦

All in all, I enjoyed the story. It was super sweet and seeing Logan struggle with trying to ask Ryan out but afraid Ryan will say no really made me like the story. Definitely give this a good if you’re looking for something sweet and cute!

Awww that was so sweet!

This ended up being a very simple story about a grumpy, scowling man crushing after a sweet, happy baker. It was kind of perfect for what it was.

I really enjoyed Logan’s grumpiness, it wasn’t overdone and it seemed to fit in with his personality, just as Ryan wasn’t an elf incarnate, he was just a sweet guy who liked Christmas. They complimented each other really well.

I liked the connection between Ryan and Logan and their awkward dance around each other. Yes, Logan is a complete idiot for not seeing that Ryan was interested, but it wasn’t annoying enough to hinder the story.

This was short enough not to be to sappy or boring and it was long enough to actually develop some chemistry between the characters. It was fun and sweet enough to leave me with some fuzzies.

It was kind of sweet. Really short, but it was long enough for the story. I was wondering why Ryan wouldn't ask Logan out, because it's not a one way road. It was however explained in the end. There was bit of a miscommunication going on, but nothing too bad.
I like the idea of participating in gingerbread house competition, although i'm really bad at making gingerbread's. I don't know why, it's not like it's something difficult. I just can't make them nice. Maybe should practice again.

As sweet as Ryan’s bakery!
Ryan is the good guy baker, happy family background with a baking disaster hours before a comp.
Logan is a shop regular but super grinch, total anti holidays due to his upbringing in the foster system.
The baking disaster seemed to be working to get them together then Logan scuppered it all - conclusions and jumping!

This was a cute story about a guy named Logan who makes a New Years resolution to ask out the hunky baker catering his office party, Ryan. Logan visits Ryan’s bakery daily over the next year as a customer. Problem is Logan can’t seem to muster up the nerve to ask Ryan out on a date. Ryan hints he’s interested but Logan doesn’t see it. Ryan is well known for his baking and his gingerbread houses. One night a disaster ruins his latest creation he’s meant to enter into a contest the next morning. Logan helps him out making another one and they spend some time together. Then self doubt creeps back in and Logan once again backs off. His persistent sassy assistant keeps pushing for him to finally fulfill his resolution before the New Year.

This was a cute story. Very sweet and full of holiday charm. It does rely quite a bit on Logan being clueless about Ryan being interested in him too. Given it’s short length I wasn’t too frustrated when Logan retreats from Ryan over and over. I did like the characters. Ryan is adorable. It was certainly a festive and sweet story worth a read this holiday season.

This was a sweet story about following your dream which eventually lead you to what you want. This is a brand new author for me and I’m happy to say that this story caught and held my attention. I’d love to read a longer story in the future because this one was pretty good.

When it comes to work and his job Logan exudes confidence. He’s sure of himself and knows what needs to be done. He’s not as confident in his personal life, however. Pushed by his sassy assistant Logan makes a resolution to ask out a man who he has been crushing on for some time.

Ryan has been attracted to Logan for awhile but every time an opportunity arises for them to learn more about each other something comes up.

This story was just full of sweet, feel good moments. I would have liked Logan to be more assertive and self assured. I would have liked it if Ryan was more straight up with Logan but I was ok with how this one played out. And the super sweet HEA was a nice ending.

Good story. Perfect for this series.

Another great little tale of holiday romance. Resolutions is exactly what the title says, when Logan made a resolution to ask out the baker, Ryan before the year is up I don't think he really thought he'd follow through with it but thanks to his trusty secretary he better. Resolutions is a great example of how you don't always need sexy times to bring a sexy story to life. I've never read Emma Keene before but it won't be the last time, can't wait to keep an eye out for more.

This was short and sticky sweet!

Logan hates Christmas but when he meets Ryan at his company party, he makes resolution in front of his assistant Ann to Ask Ryan out. Logan is one hell of a procrastination master and it takes him almost a year to grow some holly balls and do the deed. Through a few misunderstandings he wastes more time but it all comes out pretty and perfect in the end. Ryan and his gingerbread building was fun and the little flirting between Ryan and Logan was adorable and made the end all sorts of swoony.

This was going okay for me up until I found our Ryan knew all along Logan wanted to ask him out. I felt like this fell into an m/f zone where Ryan had to wait 12 months because he wasn't able to ask Logan out. You're supposed to be equals, you don't have to wait. If he hadn't been sure Logan liked him, okay, insecurity could scare you off, but he had no excuse to wait except Logan was supposed to be the man and make the first move. Logan imagines bending Ryan over and being the top. Also, Ryan never once bothers to introduce Logan to his business partner and just starts chatting with the other guy mid-convo with Logan. Normal people introduce you when another person joins you, but it was just a set-up to make Logan more insecure. So while I did believe they would make it as a couple I was annoyed that Ryan played the meek little "woman" role trying to woo him with free pastries for 12 freaking months rather than just saying "Hey, wanna grab a coffee?"
